Work Text:

Her body was withered, her soul jam was not hers, her young body now old and wrinkled. A villain, a wilted flower, she knew her life was created out of spite, and spite she shall embrace. Hatred, she felt hatred for her creators, her... White Lily Cookie's friends, Lily's lover... that sick king... she hated him.

The Spire of Shadows; After an explosion in the Laboratory, the Cookies of Darkness fled to Shadow Milk Cookie's realm. Fortunately, they had finished creating bodies for the beasts just a little beforehand.

Entering a small inn to grab a drink, Dark Enchantress Cookie looked up, noticing a quiet fortune teller sitting silently, granting readings to passersby. Dark Enchantress Cookie approached him, taking a seat by the hooded cookie as she watched Candy Apple Cookie, Shadow Milk Cookie's assistant, eagerly have her fortune read by him.

The Enchantress sat there silently, lifting her head to see that Candy Apple Cookie had vanished and a row of cards were laid out on the table in front of her. "You want me to pick?" She asked, receiving a nod from the cookie seated before her. Dark Enchantress Cookie rolled her eyes, choosing 3 cards, "There." She spoke, leaning on her hand.

The first card she chose revealed a wilting lily, one of the petals falling off. The image immediately sent a pain of disdain through her dough, causing her to lash out, "This is bull-!" Before she could finish her sentence, a finger was pressed to her lips, warranting a quiet grumble from the villainess.

The second card appeared to be a group of cookies gathered together, a family. Though, the cookies in the image looked to be very different from one another. Dark Enchantress Cookie was about to speak up, but a soft hush escaped from the Fortune Teller's lips.

The final card were two cookies standing side by side, and behind them were barely visible images of other cookies. Finally, he pulled his finger away and spoke up, look at the cards carefully. "A flower who was once adored, withering away. The memories of your past haunts you as you watch yourself slowly wither away... however, as withered as you are, your beauty remains untouched." He spoke, pointing to the second card.

"You were given a family, cookies to adore and care for. You refuse to show them affection for now, however in the near future, it'll be as if you gave birth to them yourself." He remarked, glancing up to see her reaction. The woman was at a lost for words, fumbling over her words, "Now hold on-- these are fake cards..!--"

The reader glared at her, his eyes seeming familiar...

Finally it clicked. She was about to lash out, but his words interrupted her.

"You are correct, for I don't recall having these cards in my deck, however, I suppose that's just fate, hm?" He grinned, before continuing, pointing to the final card, "Two lovers, in every form and universe shall always find eachother. You'll always find yourself deeply inlove, with a certain soul, in every body, you can't help but admire..--"

Suddenly, Dark Enchantress Cookie slammed her fists on the table, irritated. "Silence! You gave me a false fortune! Your words are filled with lies!" She snarled, grabbing the Fortune Teller by his collar. "Is it? Or are you unable to accept the Truth?" He pondered, his voice unbothered. the villainess narrowed her eyes, dropping him, "This is the land of Deceit-- there's no such thing as truth!"

Fortune Teller Cookie got himself settled, brushing off the fabric of his clothes. "All of these cards, their meanings... you'll have love everywhere you look. If you don't believe it, take a look at your minions, see how they adore you." He took off his hood and turned, picking up a dark cone hat.

Pure Vanilla Cookie...

"And I, Truthless Recluse, shall always love you." He spoke as he rested the cone on his head. Dark Enchantress Cookie curled her fists, looking to the side, "You..." She was flustered, unsure how she should respond. He had fallen, like her. Corrupted.

"Fine... I'll bite." She rolled her eyes, relaxing. Truthless Recluse stirred his drink, a drink which wasn't there before. "Tell me, tell me about yourself, Enchantress, tell me about your journey and discoveries." He spoke, a smirk played on his lips. Dark Enchantress Cookie watched his expression, speaking quietly, "What is there for you to know? You already know everything detail about me."

Truthless Recluse chuckled quietly, resting his index finger under her chin, tilting it forward. "I know White Lily Cookie, but I have yet to discover everything about you, Enchantress." His words were comforting to the villainess, her heart fluttering. "You have a way with words, Truthless Recluse..." She muttered.

Dark Enchantress Cookie sighed and looked away, reluctant. A gentle hand was rested on top of hers, her eyes meeting a warm smile. "You don't have to tell me if you don't want to..." Truthless Recluse tightened his grasp on her, "But I want to know all about you... and you only. Not White Lily Cookie, but the charming woman seated in front of me."

Hesitating for a brief moment, she slowly began to tell him about her life from the moment she fell into the dough. The truth about cookies, her rage and hatred, the Dark Flour War, everything. And every word, Truthless Recluse listened intensely with Admiration, something about his behavior was... it was so familiar, positive memories of her time as White Lily Cookie were filling her mind. She didn't know how to feel about it.

She was scared, in a way. She didn't want to open a locked door.

Yet... it felt nice to talk to someone else about her life. It always felt wrong to bring it up around the cookies of darkness since they felt far too much like children to her, but with him, with someone who was once a friend, a lover, it was refreshing.

However, she couldn't help but notice his tired eyes staring deeply into hers, or seeing how he'd smile reassuringly when she spoke of something a bit more cruel. It was... Horrible. It felt as though he wasn't even listening and he was just fantasizing about her as he stared.

Then he spoke up, "You say that you'd like to find comfort in those around you, that you miss the feeling of being loved," He settled his gaze on hers, his blue and yellow eyes soft, "But if you were to look at the small mushroom child, or the cake general, or the cloaked cookie in your group, you would find that they admire you. These cookies see you as a mother." Truthless Recluse spoke with a gentle tongue, yet an awfully ominous one.

Dark Enchantress Cookie glanced to the side, at a lost for words. Truthless Recluse rested his hand on her chin, gently tilting it forward. "You just need to embrace them." He told her, staring at the Enchantress, expressionless. The villainess reluctantly met his gaze, pushing his hand away. "...Sure." She muttered, leaning back.

"I take it that tone translates to: "I'm not doing that"?" Truthless Recluse inquired, warranting a scoff from Dark Enchantress Cookie, "It does." She responded, standing up. "Now, I have better things to do than play therapy with a stupid fortune teller..." She murmured, stepping away which caused the reclusive cookie to frown.

"Very well then."

However, she found herself playing games with Poison Mushroom Cookie, rewarding Red Velvet Cookie whenever he made her proud, offering comfort to Licorice Cookie and assisting him with insecurities... What kind of curse did this fortune teller place on her? Why was she actually taking his advice?

It sickened her to be so... motherly. What did he do. Why was she becoming so soft?

Notes:

I don't know, man, should I make a second chapter or fic where they go on a date or something? Maybe they babysit Poison Mushroom Cookie together...
