Could've been

Summary:

Midoriya Izuku was just done picking up groceries for his mother, when he bumped into someone. They apologized to each other, and never met again.

Little did he know, time is messing with him. Literally.

Notes:

I've had this idea to write this kind of fanfic for awhile, just had the courage to actually plan everything:3

Chapter 1: Discovery

Chapter Text

16 September, 2226

For one, it might seem a little strange. But for Izuku, it has always been so strange that it didn't feel weird anymore.

Yeah, you heard the boo. He didn't flinch when someone(a physically big one too) bumped into him and not even a second later a hero or a police chased after said person. It was normal at this point, nothing too unusual that he'll go into a heart attack a second after the police ran past him.

The crime rate is not that high compared to a few months ago, but that doesn't mean no one wanted to do crimes while the authorities are resting after that messy war. Izuku himself had seen a few buggers stealing underwear and bags a few times. At first, he panicked because of the trauma, now he just sighs and continues walking.

But something was wrong today, just after he bumped into that buff person.

When he turned on the new phone he just bought a few hours ago, the screen and app inside were... Different. There's google, yes. Calculator, Calendar, Youtube(what the hell's a youtube?), Email, Playstore, etc.

Any normal person would've called for someone due to wariness and stuff, but Izuku is not scared. He'd honestly seen worse that he just feel numb against those 'horror' thing.

So he made a choice. He opened the chrome, and immediately was greeted by a web? Weird one too. Isn't it supposed to be opened in an empty tab? Why would it open a one that doesn't have any relation to any website but homepage? Something is fishy. Or his phone has had an owner before.

Either way, he's going to explore through the website and see what it's about.

There are big English letters on the home page. And fortunately for Izuku, he knows English; ' A fan-created, fan-run, nonprofit, noncommercial archive for transformative fanworks, like fanfiction, fanart, fan videos, and podfic'

That certainly explains the website. But isn't Japan's fanbase an app? By the looks of it, this website seems like an English web. Curious, Izuku clicked onto the fandom tab which probably contained lots of content he could see. He then clicked onto the very top option, which is Anime & Manga. Probably not his favorite, but looking through couldn't be that bad.

There are a lot of options, with some kanji and some with just their English name. And then there's one fandom that catches his eyes, one with... Probably most numbers among the other ones he sees. And the title was catching eyes anyway.

When he clicked onto that fandom, the first thing he read(other than the title and writer's name) was one of his classmate's names. 'Kaminari Denki Being An Idiot'.

It's okay, maybe it's just a coincidence. He thought before scrolling and saw Katchan's name. He nearly fainted.

To maybe ease himself(which unquestionably fails), Izuku continues scrolling through the website while reading all the tags(is it even a tag?).

Then, he comes across one very questionable tag. 'Smut'. Is that a misspelled 'Smooth' or something? He knows what 'Angst' and 'fluff' are, but never had he heard about 'Smut'.

So he clicked onto the title, and began to read.

19 September, 2226

Izuku is weirded out. He had been searching for an anime called 'My Hero Academia' for a few days now, and there was nothing. Sure the fandom's last updates are 2025, but it is somehow still updating in his new phone.

When he checked the web on his old phone, the website was nowhere to be seen. Some say that it's banned, and some say that it shuts down in 2030-50, around the pre-quirk era when the founder and most of its admin were caught in an accident and died.

Izuku had checked the website this morning, and some stories are updating with the newest date. Some with the pros and his class's(including himself) name on the tags, and some with 'Original Character' or 'reader-insert'. The fandom is too creepy to ignore, and Izuku's curiosity is on the edge of his brain.

Lately, he found an even more weird tag. For example; 'Omega Bakugo Katsuki'. Like, what? There's no way Katchan's a bottom, he's too stubborn and needy to be one. No Offence.

There's even a weirder one where Mr. Aizawa(Izuku's teacher) is depressed and he has a high school friend that died in their second year and now he has become a teacher to not let any other students die like that friend of his. That's sweet and all, but Izuku knows better than to trust the internet. That must've not been how Mr Aizawa's friend died.

There's one fanfic he read that led to My Hero Academia's lore(maybe), at least come close to. The notes in it have a link that led to an old YouTube music video, but coincidentally a video about a school having some kind of concert. The students look like the people in his class, the music was similar to the one they use too, not to mention the layout.

It's like their lives were once an Imaginary one but suddenly it isn't.

He had two notebooks about My Hero Academia alone(that includes all the possible canon characters, which have similar names to the people he had met before and concerningly made it easier for Izuku to list), and it's not enough information as he keeps on getting slammed by new information every new story he reads.

There are a few other fandoms that have the largest numbers above My Hero Academia are Marvel and Harry Potter-JK Rowling, other than that, Original Works. Which probably doesn't count towards category fandom. He needs to discover and read more, goodbye late night hard study with Iida.

He still hasn't figured out what's 'Smut' means after all.

Notes:

I don't have beta, so you might as well pick up some grammars and remind me so i could fix it lol
