Nellas watched with an amused smile as Rhiwinn and Gwennod held court on the windowsill, tails swishing in unison as they watched the birds splash in the rain puddles.
She knew it was only the fact that both of them despised getting wet that kept the birds safe today.
Nellas clicked her tongue, and two pairs of ears twitched, but neither of her girls deigned to turn around.
“I suppose I will have to play all by myself if you do not want to join me,” Nellas sighed and rustled a feathery piece of string. It had been tied to a stick until Rhiwinn chewed through it, leaving only the slightly mangled feather string behind.
Still, it remained a favoured toy of her furry friends.
Though perhaps today, the bathing birds would win out. She shook the toy again.
Ha! Success!
Rhiwinn turned around and perked up at the sight of the feathers. She nudged Gwennod excitedly before prancing over, pouncing on the string as soon as it got into reach. Gwennod gave the birds outside one last longing look, but Rhiwinn’s excitement clearly won her over.
Nellas laughed as they both pawed at the string. “I knew you would not abandon me on this rainy day, my loves. My own little sunshines.”
