Work Text:
In a rather large bedroom in a mansion that was now frozen over, a Goetia teenager named Octavia was lying in her bed sad over her belief that her father had left her over blitzø, staring at the bottle of antidepressants in her hand labeled “happy pills”.
Octavia: why wasn’t I enough for you? Why did you need these things to be happy? Why did you even leave us for that red dickhead?
it was clear that Octavia was trying to wrap her head around events that she didn’t understand clearly, and was making the conclusion that her father didn’t love her enough.
Suddenly, the window to Octavia’s window opened and a man wearing a pure black doctor’s outfit, skull slippers, a skull half-mask, and holding a bag floated in on an umbrella into the room like Mary poppins, much to the confusion of Octavia.
Octavia: Who the hell are you and what are you doing here?
Killinger: Apologies, but I sensed a great disturbance of familial relations. I figured that I could try and solve this little issue and try to have you know the full details of this situation.
Octavia: That doesn’t really answer my question.
Killinger: Of course, how rude of me. My name is Killinger, Doctor Henry killinger, And this is my magic murder bag.
Dr. Killinger then showed his magic murder bag that was in his hands, which Octavia was confused about as it looked like a regular doctor bag.
Octavia: Okay but what is a doctor bag going to do to help my problems?
Killinger: You must have faith. I have proven to have been able to solve my patients problems and bring them to their true potential. Now despite this being a job I haven’t done before, I still plan to see you understand things more clearly than your side of the story.
Octavia: I don’t know if I’ll be able to pay you for playing therapist.
Killinger: I work pro bono. Now, the first step is for me to understand why you are feeling so down.
Octavia then told Dr. Killinger about all that had happened. How her dad had lied to her, how he had the happy pills, and that she didn’t want to see him in her life after all that.
Killinger: I see your point of view. May I please see the pills?
Octavia threw the bottle of antidepressants to Dr. Killinger, who inspected the bottle fully and knew what the happy pills really were.
Killinger: These happy pills are nothing more than fluoxetine, also known as antidepressants. They do not cause the person who consumes them temporary joy. My hypothesis is that your father suffers from depression, which can be treated with medication such as this and a legally qualified therapist. The amount prescribed on the bottle also suggests that your father’s depression is serious.
Octavia then had a look of realization about her father, as she had no idea how serious his mental illness was.
Octavia: But if it really is that serious, why didn’t he tell me? I mean, I should at least have known so I could’ve helped.
Killinger: Depression is much more complicated than you think, as sometimes it can be exacerbated from other factors. Him not telling you was most likely an attempt to not have you worry about him.
Octavia: But why did he leave me for that weird red dickhead? Was I not enough for him?
Killinger: What makes you believe your father would abandon you for no reason? He loves that man because he makes him happy, and you feel like you’re competing with him for your father’s love. There is a difference between love in a relationship and familial love. Your father still loves you regardless if he has a new relationship.
Octavia was beginning to understand what Dr. Killinger was saying, and she was starting to get mad at herself for treating her dad like that, but there was one thing that she had to ask Dr. Killinger.
Octavia: Would he even want me back? I mean, he has his new boyfriend and I messed up.
Killinger: I can only say that he would be very happy to see you again. Love is to be cherished, familial or romantic. When you say something you regret it becomes the most heartbreaking.
Octavia: Can you take me to him? I want to apologize for what I said.
Killinger: That I can do, Get inside my magic murder bag.
Dr. Killinger then set his magic murder bag on the floor of the bedroom, opened it and pointed inside, signaling Octavia to step inside of it.
Octavia: Seriously? You want me to go inside your doctor’s bag?
Killinger: Do you have another way to get there?
Octavia: Yes, actually. I know where it is.
And with that, Octavia and Dr. Killinger snuck out of the mansion through the window and went off to the office of I.M.P by Killinger using the umbrella to float all the way to the entrance of the office building that I.M.P was in.
When Octavia and Dr. Killinger arrived to the I.M.P office building, they went up to the office of I.M.P, where Stolas was sitting at the front desk and noticed Octavia and Dr. Killinger come inside. Seeing his daughter made Stolas begin to tear up, but not before he also noticed Dr. Killinger.
Stolas: Via, I didn’t know that you were coming. Who’s the man next to you?
Killinger: Apologies Herr Stolas, my name is Doctor Henry Killinger. I believe that your daughter has something to tell you.
Octavia: Dad, I’m sorry. I didn’t know how serious the medicine was, I thought that you just left me like I was an obligation.
Stolas: Via, raising you was the only good thing that came out of living with your mother. She treated me like dirt despite all the attempts to make her happy. We were arranged to be married when we were kids, but I still tried to make it work. She didn’t give a shit about me at all!
Stolas then began to tear up and cry as he began to rant about his life, but Octavia stopped him by putting him in an embrace and began to calm him down.
Stolas: I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to get all emotional.
Killinger: It’s not your fault. You were having a brief meltdown, but it was good that your daughter helped you calm down.
Stolas: I must thank you, Dr. Killinger. I’m happy to see my daughter again, but how did you convince her to see me?
Killinger: I simply used the child psychology I had learned to help your daughter with her problems. I have a PHD in child psychology.
Stolas: Oh…I don’t have much money to pay you for your work.
Killinger: Don’t worry, I work pro bono.
Dr. Killinger then held his hands together and smiled a little bit.
Killinger: I love my job! My work here is now finished, now I suggest you both continue to work hard on your relationship to prevent more misunderstandings in the future.
Dr. Killinger then went outside to the fire exit, opened up his umbrella, and flew off just as Blitzø and Loona came back to the office to see the two Goetias together.
Blitzø: Stolas, I didn’t know that Octavia was here. Who the fuck was the guy that was pulling a Mary poppins?
Stolas: That was someone that had helped sort things between Octavia and I. As for him flying by umbrella, your guess is as good as mine.
Loona: I feel like there’s a lot of context behind him. We got some food from wackdonald’s, so why don’t you tell what happened.
Octavia: Okay. I could have something to eat.
And so, the four demons began to dig into the food that Loona and blitzø had gotten from Wackdonald’s as Octavia explained what happened involving Dr. Killinger. As they conversed, Dr. Killinger was looking from afar, happy at another job well done for him as he flew off to do another job that would require his professional experience.
