Work Text:
The Sun was shining, the waves were crashing, but Kaos Beach was anything but peaceful. In the middle of all the noise and chaos, Burcu Hoca stood with her arms crossed; She was the kind of boss who demanded perfection, and today, that meant making sure everything ran smoothly — even if it felt like the universe was conspiring to make her job impossible.
Sinan and Osman were the first to get on her nerves, not because they were bad workers, but because they couldn’t seem to stop flirting with one another. It wasn’t even subtle anymore. Everytime Sinan glanced at Osman, a flirtatious smirk would creep onto his face, and Osman — well, he never made it easy for Sinan either.
“Sinan, do you remember what I told you about placing the chairs properly?” Burcu’s voice cut through the noise,as she turned her sharp gaze towards him.
Sinan jumped slightly, realizing he hadn’t done a thing since he got distracted by Osman’s smile. “Uhhh, yes, Hocam, I remember! Just making sure the customer’s comfort is a priority!” he said, his voice was trying to sound convincing, as he pushed a chair to its spot.
Burcu’s eyes narrowed. “You’re not fooling me. Go check on the bar, and don’t let me catch you zoning out again.”
Meanwhile, Kerem and Eda were in their own world. They were sitting near the counter, pretending to work, but instead, exchanging glances and sweet words that made even the sea breeze cringe.
“You know,” Kerem said, his voice was low, “I think we could make a pretty good team, if we weren’t so busy distracting one another.”
Eda laughed, tossing her golden hair over her shoulder. “Perhaps. But I think distractions make everything more interesting.”
Burcu saw them from across the beach, her eyes were twitching in frustration; “Kerem, Eda — can you please focus on the work, and not just on one another?”
Kerem winked at Eda; “You heard the boss, we had better get to work.”
Eda rolled her eyes, but the playful smile didn’t leave her face; “I’m starting to think I’m more productive, when you distract me,” she whispered.
At the other end of the beach, Osman and Sinan were finally trying to focus on the task at hand — though not without their usual playful banter. Sinan was busy stacking some towels, his eyes still glancing at Osman. “Hey, Osman, are you sure you’re actually working?” he asked, with a teasing smile on his face.
Osman smirked back, clearly enjoying the back-and-forth; “Well, Sinan, it’s not like you’re doing much, either. Should I start assigning you some actual tasks? Or are you too busy...distracted?”
Sinan laughed, tossing a towel at Osman’s head; “Oh, you’re so funny. Perhaps, if you didn’t look so good, I could focus more.”
Osman’s expression softened, his deep green eyes were narrowing in on Sinan with a playful glint; “I can’t help it , if you can’t keep your eyes off me.”
Burcu’s voice interrupted them before they could exchange anymore flirty comments; “Enough! The beach is a workplace, not a dating service! Get to it, both of you!”
Sinan chuckled. “Sure thing, Hocam.....We’ll work hard...right after this important conversation.”
Burcu shook her head. “I’m watching you,” she muttered,as she walked away, hoping to catch somebody else slacking off.
Later, as the day dragged on, Burcu couldn’t help noticing how things were still going at a glacial pace. She stood at the counter -arms crossed- watching her workers. Sinan and Osman had somehow turned folding towels into a full-blown flirting session. Kerem and Eda were too busy texting one another to even notice that they hadn’t taken an order in ten minutes.
Burcu let out a frustrated-sigh, rubbing her temples. “Am I the only one who actually cares about making this place run smoothly?” she muttered under her breath.
The sound of somebodu clearing their throat interrupted her thoughts. It was Kemal, the only one who had been trying to keep things under control. “Hocam, don’t worry. They’ll get their shit together. Eventually.”
"Excuse me?!"
"Well, they'll get their...whatever, you know what I mean."
“You’re not the boss here, Kemal hoca. I am! I'm the ambitious one! And...they won’t get their act together if they keep doing...this!” she gestured to the chaos around her.
Kemal shrugged, with a mischievous grin; “Perhaps, they just need a little more motivation...Like a surprise vacation, with no work at all.”
Burcu gave him a long, calculating look, before finally smirking; “That’s actually not the worst idea you’ve had. Alright, everyone! Break time!”
The entire crew froze. Sinan and Osman exchanged wide-eyed glances. “Wait, what?” Sinan asked.
Kerem looked at Burcu, blinking; “Are you serious?”
Burcu chuckled darkly; “I’m so serious. I’m going to let you all go, relax...and think about how you could’ve done better, if you’d actually worked for once.”
The workers didn’t need to be told twice. They grabbed their things, and rushed toward the beach, leaving Burcu standing alone behind the counter, a satisfied smile on her face.
Because Kemal was there.
