Chapter 1: The Dream
Summary:
One night, Laharl experiences an unusual dream unlike any he’s had before. It’s a dream that resonates deeply with his emotions, filling him with a sense of gender euphoria.
Chapter Text
It's the dark dead of the night, with the stars bright and the noises of the werewolves howling in the Netherworld. We see Laharl, the Overlord, in his coffin, sleeping in his bedroom with the moonlight shining through the windows. Laharl is sleeping like a rock, nice and cozy. While Laharl is in his bed, he begins to have a dream.
"Where I'm?" asked Laharl.
Laharl's body is floating effortlessly, unable to move in the sun's golden glow. We see that the sky above is endless, painted in bright blues and shades of white. Creating a feeling of warmth and light. Laharl's body begins to float higher into the sky, and the sun shines a golden glow around his body. Laharl feels enjoyment like no other feeling than before in his lifetime.
"That light, it's nice and warm. Give me more," said Laharl
Laharl is excited and happy, his heart pounding through his chest. It's like the universe is cuddling him in a feeling of euphoria. The air is gentle against his skin, wrapping around them like a snake. They move closer to the light, and a glowing body appears. A glowing feminine body moves closer to Laharl's chest and puts its hands in front of it. Laharl's body starts to shine, and then, just like every dream, it ends. Laharl wakes up out of his coffin with a surprised look.
"UGH! What the hell was that?!" he said to himself.
It was morning, and there was a knock on the door. "Hey, are you alright, big bro?" Sicily, Laharl's younger sister, asked. Laharl tells Sicily that everything is fine as he begins to get out of bed and change his clothes. Laharl can't help but ask what that dream was about. It was a dream that he never had before. Laharl enters his bathroom and begins brushing his teeth in the mirror. Suddenly, he looks at himself and feels something is off. He can't explain it but doesn't know what it is. After cleaning himself off, Laharl enters and sits on his throne room. As he begins to sit down, Etna and Flonne enter the room.
"What's on the agenda of the day, Laharl?" asked Flonne.
Laharl is still confused about what happened the other night and tells Flonne he has no idea on what's going on today.
"I hope you're doing okay. Did something happen last night?" Flonne said.
Laharl got angry and told her that it was nothing, telling her to back off if she asked again. Laharl scoffs, sitting up straighter, masking any trace of discomfort. "Someone is in a bad mood today. Did you forget to take your Overlord morning pills?" said Etna. Laharl begins to get angry, with his hair antenna rising up in the air and his eyes glowing yellow.
"SHUT UP!!!" said Laharl
"You need some love today, don't you?" said Flonne
Laharl begins to yell and tells Flonne to be quiet. Etna and Flonne exchange looks again, but a voice interrupts before they can proceed. Sicily arrives, happy to see her big brother this morning. She grabs a big box that came in the mail and begins to open it. It's fan mail of Laharl as a Girl Pop Idol. Laharl is shocked to see what he just saw.
"You still get fan mail despite that being a thing like once. You have fans that love you as a girl," said Sicily
Laharl looked through the box, at the photos and the written letters from fans across the Netherworld. He hated this when it happened and started to get angry. But suddenly, his rage stopped. Looking at these photos, fan art, and letters made him feel something different. He didn't know what it was, but he thought it could be related to his dream from last night.
"What's the matter, big brother? Are you getting bad flashbacks? I remember you not liking it." said Sicily
Laharl's heart raced as he tried to figure out what was happening. He announced to everyone that they had the day off and needed some time to himself. Flonne excitedly suggested that they all head to the amusement park.
"Sounds great to me. I hope they have some good desserts," said Enta
While Flonne and Enta are happy, Sicily feels worried. Wondering what is going on with her older brother. Something is on his mind, and she wants to know. After everyone left, Laharl went to his bedroom and slammed the door hard. Laharl leans against it, breathing hard. He kept one photo of themselves as a woman after being in touch with yuie flowers from a while back in his back pocket. Laharl gets angry and wonders what is happening.
"Stupid dream. Stupid thoughts. I must be under some curse," said Laharl out loud to himself
Laharl walks around the room, thinking he is having a bad day and probably has not eaten a proper meal yet. While everyone else is out enjoying themselves, Laharl tries everything he can to distract himself, but nothing seems to help. He grabs his sword and releases his anger by cutting a wooden statute in half.
Laharl exclaimed in frustration, "I can't stand being a girl! I'm a MAN!!! Having big boobs and butts is the worst! If my mind is trying to trick me, it's failing. I'm Laharl, the Overlord, and I won't let my thoughts and feelings control me."
Many hours later, Etna, Flonne, and Sicily return to the Castle. To their shock, the place is a mess. Laharl wrecks the place in anger, and the Prinnies are too scared to do anything.
"He has gone nuts, dood. He tried to kill us." said a random Prinny
Laharl is in his throne room, looking angry and upset. Sicily asks if he is okay, but Laharl does not answer. Sicily appears worried about Laharl since he has been in a bad mood throughout the day. Flonne wants to hug Laharl, but Laharl pushes them aside. He is irritated and tells everyone, "Just go. I don't wanna deal with this right now." Everyone walked away and called it a night. At the dead hour of the night, everyone is sleeping, but not Laharl. Laharl is lying in his coffin and still thinking about his dream.
As the hours go by, Laharl begins to sleep. Laharl hopes that the next day will return to normal and that these thoughts will disappear. They won't.

Chapter 2: Demons Don't Get Dysphoria! (Except When They Do…)
Summary:
Laharl is exhibiting indications of discomfort, as though he is experiencing a sense of dysphoria and questioning his true gender identity.
Chapter Text
Laharl awakens, standing in the middle of a photoshoot. They are wearing a swimsuit hoodie and is holding a popsicle in their hand. Laharl is a girl and wonders what is going on. The Director (as seen from Disgaea 2) yells, "That's a wrap," and the crew unpacks everything. Laharl wonders what is happening, but doesn't feel shocked by this.
"What's going on here?" said Laharl
"Did you drift off for a moment? We just wrapped up a commercial for the new swimsuit ad. Tomorrow, you'll be doing a photo shoot with Axel, the Dark Hero," the Director remarked.
Laharl looks at the photo they took and can't help but notice how they look. They are the top idols of the Netherworld, and the swimsuit gives them a fantastic smile. "This is me?" Laharl says to himself. They like these feelings and desire more. All of a sudden, the dream ends, and Laharl wakes up out of his coffin.
"That's not me. It's just a stupid dream. It's not—" said Laharl
Laharl puts on his clothes, getting ready for a brand-new day. As they walk down the hallway, he sees himself as a girl in a mirror; a voice can be heard in Laharl's head. "If you wanna be in that form, just do it." said the voice in his head. Laharl is angry and breaks the mirror with his fist. Laharl does not want to deal with these thoughts, and liking his female form is a nightmare. Laharl continues to walk down the hall to his throne room. Laharl sits slouched on the throne, legs crossed, chin resting on their fist. Their usual arrogant smirk is absent. Instead, he looked… irritated. Restless. Etna and Flonne enter the room, exchanging glances.
"Aww. Is Mr. Grumpy Pants still in a bad mood?" said Etna
"Shut up, Etna!" said Laharl
"Maybe you had a strange dream. Dreams are the subconscious mind's way of expressing inner emotions," said Flonne
Laharl tells Flonne to be quiet and stop being a love freak. Laharl steps out of his throne and picks up his sword. He picks up his sword and tells everyone to head to the Cave of Ordeal.
"I don't want to see my vassals getting weak. Time to get yourselves into shape!" said Laharl
Etna was getting frustrating with Laharl's comment. "Come on, you're the one who's been lazy. You've spent most of the day and yesterday just lounging in your bedroom," she told Laharl.
Just before Laharl begins to yell, Flonne tells everyone to please stop. Reminding everyone that yelling at each other does not solve anything. Sicily arrives and asks what is going on. Etna tells Sicily that Laharl is still in a bad mood. Sicily wants to know why Laharl is acting so odd, and Flonne suggests that Laharl may be depressed. Laharl begins to get angry, with his hair antenna rising and his eyes glowing yellow. He tells everyone to shut up and get their stuff ready for the Cave of Ordeal.
They arrive in the Cave of Ordeal, with a group of monsters waiting for their arrival. A band of Zakkum attempts to assault Laharl and the others, but they manage to evade their Putrid Breath. Etna faces an attacking Manticore and swiftly defeats it with her spear. As more monsters emerge, Etna calls upon a squad of Prinnies to take care of the remaining threats. A succubus attacks Laharl from behind, and Laharl can easily take it out. Laharl typically finds succubus off-putting with their sexy bodies, but not this time. As they cleared out of the Cave of Ordeal, everyone gained higher levels, and no one was seriously hurt. On the other hand, Laharl still questions what is happening. He thinks that maybe someone poisoned his mind with a spell, or he is just getting soft.
"Damn it! I thought doing some leveling up would clear out my thoughts, but it didn't," said Laharl to himself
"Come on, Prince. It's getting late, and I don't want to stay here any longer," said Etna
Laharl and the others return to the Castle. Flonne and Sicily look concerned about what is going on. "Maybe we should help Laharl" said Flonne. Laharl turns around, visibly upset after catching their conversation. His face turns red as he shouted, "SHUT UP, YOU TWO!!" while crossing his arms and turning his face away.
"Alright, Prince, spill the beans. You've been acting weirder than usual. And that's saying a lot coming from you," Etna remarked.
Laharl walks to his throne but subtly glances away from a nearby mirror. He catches a glimpse of his female reflection in the mirror and, consumed by anger, obliterates it with a fireball. Etna and the others have observed that Laharl has been steering clear of mirrors.
"Has your self-esteem fallen so low that you must avoid or break any mirrors around you? How pathetic." Etna asked.
"Oh! Could it be that Laharl… is experiencing an identity crisis?!" said Flonne
Laharl's anger intensifies as he orders everyone to go to their rooms before he loses it and turns the whole castle to ashes. Laharl runs off to his room and slams the door. "Wait, Big Brother!" Sicily called out as Laharl ran off. Flonne and Sicily are worried about what is happening with Laharl. They are eager to assist, but Laharl would not take their advice. Etna intervenes, asserting that Laharl is always acting like a baby. Flonne concludes that Etna is likely correct, suggesting that they should proceed with their lives. Meanwhile, Sicily senses something is wrong with her older brother and needs to understand what is troubling him.
Later that night, after everyone else had fallen asleep, Laharl remained wide awake. His bedroom is silent; the only sound is the faint hum of the Netherworld's eerie ambience. Laharl walks into the bathroom to brush his teeth and stands in front of the mirror, gazing at their reflection. That's when they begin to notice the female version of themselves staring back. Laharl began to notice various versions of their female self reflected in the mirror, ranging from a schoolgirl to a demon detective, a thunder lord from an alternate universe, a king transformed by the Sacred Tome, a swimsuit model, a witch, and even a Supreme Overlord. Laharl is shocked with an upset look on his face, accompanied by a voice echoing in his mind, "This is who I am. I've always been this way." Laharl steps away from the mirror, turns off the lights, and retreats into his coffin. But as he lay down in bed staring at the ceiling, Laharl questioned himself, "Is that truly my reflection? Why does it evoke such a pleasant feeling? Yet, why do I despise it?"
Laharl begins to fall asleep, and they start to have another dream. Laharl is floating, weightless, in a vast sky filled with swirling galaxies and vibrant colors. Laharl wonders what is happening and notices they have a different body. Laharl has the body of a Demonic Angel (as seen in the 4th-anniversary event in Disgaea RPG). They ran their hands down their arms, over their chest. Laharl notices that he has a large breast, as if they were a pair of balloons attached to their body. Instead of hating it, it felt overwhelming, like stepping into sunlight after being trapped in the dark for years.
"I feel powerful! What is this?" said Laharl
His body floats smoothly, free from hesitation, awkwardness, or the discomfort that has plagued him for years. It's a distant but warm feeling that they felt before. A voice can be heard again. "This is what your heart always wished for. I'm the subconscious breaking free locked away inside of you," said the voice.
"Is this really what I want? But why?" Laharl asked.
Laharl looks around and begins to think to themselves. "I'm an Overlord. People can't respect a woman, Overlord," said Laharl. But then, a group of demons appears and bow down to them. "Hail Lord Laharl," said the group of demons. Laharl is surprised that demons still view them as an influential leader, even as a girl. This makes Laharl feel powerful, knowing they can still be a fearful demon ruler. He close his eyes and embrace the feeling, letting it consume him. Laharl wakes up with a gasp and screams out loud.
A random Prinny with a cup of milk enters the door and asks, "You okay, dood?". Laharl, filled with rage, grabs the Prinny in anger and hurls it across the room, causing a massive explosion that wakes everyone in the castle. Enta shouts, "Can you keep it down? I need my sleep as a beauty queen!" Frustrated, Laharl locks the door and slams it shut, feeling like he can't handle it any longer. Flonne and Sicily knock on the door to see if Laharl is okay, but Laharl tells them to return to bed. Laharl realized these feelings were real and was too embarrassed to admit it. He has to do something.

Chapter 3: Enter Laharl Chan
Summary:
Laharl ultimately succumbs to his thoughts and chooses to become a girl. Initially, he despised his alluring female form, but now he has come to appreciate it.
Chapter Text
After waking up in the morning, Laharl realizes that he does not have a choice when it comes to his inner feelings. However, Laharl needs to find a way to turn himself into a girl. It's not like he can find the yuie flowers out in the wild. The Dark Assembly probably won't approve of it either. Suddenly, Laharl has an idea and may know the right person to help him. First, he needs to make sure else does not know about it. Laharl enters his throne room and informs everyone that he has stepped out to take care of some errands. Etna doesn't care, as this means they can enjoy the entire castle to themselves for a few hours. Meanwhile, Flonne and Sicily are curious about Laharl's whereabouts, finding it unusual for him to leave like this. "I just hope Big Brother is okay," said Sicily.
At the Evil Academy, Laharl is seen wearing a fedora and a trench coat, with a mask covering his face. He is waiting in a room for his potion, which he requested. Mao opens the door and gives Laharl the bag.
"Here you go. One gender potion that gives you a magical feminizing hormone treatment," said Mao.
Laharl grabs the bag and says thanks in a deep voice, ensuring that Mao does not recognize him.
"Have we met before?" Mao asked
Laharl says no, and we have never met until now. Laharl asks if any side effects can make things worse. Mao tells him no, but he gives him an antidote if they ever want to change. He warns him that they can't change back once the antidote or potion is gone. Laharl can take the risk and give Mao the payment. After Laharl takes off, Mao feels they've crossed paths before.
Back at the castle, Laharl arrives home and runs to his room. Etna asks what he has been doing, but Laharl tells her it's not her business. Etna shrugged, "Whatever. Just don't get all moody on us again, Prince," she said. Laharl ensures no one will enter his room and keeps the door locked. Laharl takes the gender potion out of the bag and drinks it. The bottle mentions that you shouldn't drink the entire in one sip as the body may reject the hormones.
Laharl's body begins to change after taking a sip of the potion. Laharl's cape has returned to one trail, and their pants have been extended to a pair of ripped skinny jeans. Laharl's chest has expanded dramatically and needs to be held back by a small red bra top, and they now have all-black shoes. Laharl also has much longer hair than her male self and is a much taller, skinnier, and more feminine figure.
This is what Laharl despises the most, and it nearly evokes a sense of regret within him. Laharl almost starts to utter the words, "I don’…" However, they quickly realize this form is not as bad as they remember. Laharl is astonished to realize that their dreams and feelings are accurate. They look at themselves in the mirror and like what they see. Laharl is too embarrassed to admit that, deep down, they enjoyed being a girl.
"I should hate this, but I can't. It feels right," said Girl Laharl
Laharl thinks about how much they used to hate this, but never actually listened to their heart. And then, a knock on the door can be heard. Laharl realizes that they didn't lock the door all the way, and someone opens the door. It was Sicily, and she was looking for Laharl. Laharl swiftly ducked behind a curtain, wishing to remain unseen. Laharl does not want anyone to see this appearance, as they are not yet ready to come out to everyone. While Sicily was looking for her big brother, Laharl started to sneeze. Sicily quickly looks around the curtains and sees Laharl as a girl.
"Big brother?! You're a girl again!" said Sicily
"Look, I can explain!" said Girl Laharl
Sicily believes that someone must have turned Laharl into a girl again and is trying to hide so that no one can see them as a woman. Sicily remarked, "I wouldn't be surprised if those weird Laharl Chan Idol fans were behind this." Laharl tells her that's not it, and she must keep it a secret. As Laharl begins to tell the truth
"I hated this body for so long. But my thoughts told me otherwise, and they won't leave me alone! I've decided—this body is the one I prefer. Don't let my femininity fool you; I remain just as formidable as ever in my role as an Overlord!" said Girl Laharl
Sicily is shocked by this and now has a big sister. She promises to keep things a secret but wonders how Laharl can hide this. Thankfully, Laharl has an antidote that she can use to turn back into a boy. Laharl takes an antidote by injecting a needle in her arm to switch back and change right in front of Sicily's eyes.
"That's amazing! Big Bro…I mean, Big Sis," said Sicily.
Laharl tells her to return to the throne room, as he is now in a better mood. In the throne room, Laharl announces that he plans to go to Item World and level up. Etna is curious about the sudden change in mood, but Laharl explains that he was dealing with a nasty stomach bug, and things have improved. Etna couldn't care less about Laharl not being in a bratty mood again.
Laharl and the others travel to Item World for the rest of the day and become stronger. When they arrive back home, it's late at night, and everyone starts going to bed. Laharl hides the potion and antidote so that no one can find them, keeping them hidden under his coffin, as it would be the only place that he knows about them.
"I'll make sure if anyone finds my stuff, they will be dead," said Laharl
Laharl finally drifts off to sleep, and a new adventure awaits for Laharl Chan.

Chapter 4: The Big Sister Overlord
Summary:
Laharl has come to terms with and embraced her female identity, but she's not quite ready to share it with everyone yet. Meanwhile, Laharl's sister, Sicily, has fully accepted her as her big sister, and they’re having a great time bonding together.
Chapter Text
It's breakfast time, and the Prinnies are seen cooking food in the kitchen. Laharl, Etna, Flonne, and Sicily sit down, waiting for their food to be ready. Their breakfast is done at last, but with bad results. The food is burned as if it were reduced into ashes.
"WHAT DID YOU DO TO OUR BREAKFAST?!" Etna roared
The Prinnies are feeling anxious and are at a loss for words. One of them nervously exclaimed, "Uh, my bad, dood! We forgot to turn off the oven," addressing Etna. "Ugh. Every morning is bad when incompetent fools surround you!" Laharl huffed, arms crossed. Flonne chimed in, suggesting they shouldn't be too hard on them for their mistakes. However, Etna and Laharl were too hungry to argue back, and Etna ordered the Prinnies to return to work or face dire consequences. An hour later, they finally got the breakfast they had been waiting for. Laharl announces that he's off to handle some evil ruler business. He instructed Etna to ensure that the Prinnies complete a thousand push-ups as punishment for messing up breakfast this morning. Laharl also directs Flonne and Sicily to verify that no zombies have attempted to scavenge from the garbage cans outside. Etna asks what type of overlord business is, and Laharl tells her it is unimportant. Sicily knows what Laharl is up to but has to ensure that no one knows their real identity yet.
In Laharl's secret training underground lair, they drink a sip of the potion and transforms into a woman. Armed with her sword, she starts slicing through a horde of demons, chopping them into tiny pieces. Then, with a swift motion, she unleashes a fiery slash from her sword, turning the remaining demons to dust and ashes. Girl Laharl bursts into laughter, "Hmhmhmhm... Hmhmhmhmhmhm!... Haaaaaaaahahahahahaha!!!!
Girl Laharl exclaimed, "I feel so powerful! I can't believe I ever disliked this sexy body. Big boobs and butts don't diminish my strength at all. I'm here to show everyone that I, Overlord Laharl, am even more formidable and wicked than ever. Anyone who thinks that me being a woman makes me weaker will die a painful death!"
Laharl feels they are ready to show off her idenity, but she is not ready to let everyone know. She knows that Etna will make a fool out of her if she finds out now. Laharl decides to head out to the Frozen River to fight more monsters. Meanwhile, Etna eats candy in the Throne Room while watching the Prinnies doing push-ups. Sicily is doing her best to keep things a secret. Flonne is too busy watching the newest Prism Ranger episode on TV. Sicily looks around the Castle for Laharl but knows where they are headed.
Laharl encounters a horde of ice demons and dragons at the Frozen River. She effortlessly cleaves through the creatures as though they were made of butter. "Feel the wrath of Laharl!" she exclaimed. More monsters show up, and Laharl launches a massive fireball at them. The blast turns them to ash and forms a considerable crater nearby. "Who's next?" said Girl Laharl. She is ready to take on the world and show everyone who is boss. Then suddently, Sicily appears.
"Hey, what are you doing here? Did you come looking for me?" asked Girl Laharl
"I had a feeling that you would be here. I got you some food, big sis," said Sicily.
Girl Laharl grabs the leg ham and eats it in an instant. After battling numerous foes and enhancing her skills, she felt pretty hungry. She makes a loud burp, and thanks Sicily for the food. Sicily also brought some zombie juice, and Laharl sipped the entire thing.
"Someone must be hungry and thirsty," said Sicily
Just after Girl Laharl finished her meal, a massive white Yeti appeared. Teaming up, Girl Laharl and Sicily launched a combined attack that took down the Yeti instantly. "Great job, sis!" exclaimed Girl Laharl. Sicily asks how long this secret will take, but Laharl is unsure. They have the antidote to change back for now, but they can't do this forever. Laharl reverted to his boy form as they returned to the Castle. Sicily and Laharl arrived, and Etna inquired about their whereabouts. "Can't I have some alone time with my big bro?" Sicily replied. Flonne thought it was sweet to see the siblings bonding. Laharl warned Flonne not to get too caught up in her feelings. Etna just shrugged and said, "Whatever. Just don't start getting all moody on us again, Prince." Laharl is impressed with how Etna gave the Prinnies a good workout. Etna was mad about them messing up her breakfast this morning and wanted to ensure they got punished.
Later in the night, with everyone in bed, Laharl wanted to drink the potion again because it made them feel powerful and wonderful. A feeling of euphoria that they truly crave. She drank the small glass vial in the dim light in her bathroom. Laharl couldn't bear the thought of waiting until the next day to be her true self. So, Laharl quietly moved around the Castle, leaving a note on each door instructing everyone to keep the Castle nice and clean by doing chores. Finally, she crouched down to slip a note under Sicily's door, asking her to meet at the Sea of Gehenna to level up together. While going to her room, Laharl accidentally hits Flonne's door, waking her up. Laharl runs back to her room and locks her door shut. Flonne must have sensed something and knocked on Laharl's door. "Are you okay?" she asked. Laharl deepened her voice slightly to mimic her male voice and said, "Head back to bed, Flonne. I just needed a late-night snack. An overlord requires an extra meal, after all." Flonne found this wholly reasonable and replied, "Alright. Goodnight, Laharl." Meanwhile, Laharl's heart raced, relieved she had narrowly avoided being discovered. They lie down in their coffin, resting as they anticipate morning arrival.
It's morning. Etna and Flonne wake up to a note on their door. They also notice Sicily is gone. Flonne feels like they are enjoying more time together, which she finds delightful. However, Etna senses that something isn't quite right. She instructs the Prinnies to conduct some sleuthing to uncover any details. Etna assures them that a generous reward awaits if they can return useful information.
"We won't let you down, Master Enta, dood." said a Prinny.
A bunch of Prinnies burst through the door in a hurry. In the Sea of Gehenna, Girl Laharl and Sicily battle various monsters, including Cyclops and a few Faeries. Sicily cherishes the shared moments as sisters and observes how much kinder Laharl has become. Laharl, however, reminds her that she is still an overlord and won't show mercy on her enemies. She is determined not to let anyone perceive her as weak simply because she is a woman. Sicily prepared a picnic for them to savor some food after their fight with enemies. Girl Laharl commented, hoping that someone like Mid Boss wouldn't appear to snatch their picnic basket, just like he did many years ago. A group of Prinnies hide behind a rock and see Laharl as a girl with Sicily.
"Dood! Are you seeing this?" said a Prinny
"Overlord Laharl is a total babe, dood! We need to share this with Etna; she's going to be shocked!' said the other Prinny
One Prinny grabs a camera and takes a picture. They run back to the Castle to return the news to Etna. "Master Etna. We got something big for you, dood!" said a Prinny. The Prinny gives Etna the photo of Girl Laharl, and Sicily together. Etna has a smug look on her face when receiving the photo from the Prinnies.
"Well, well, well! What do we have here? Laharl is a girl?" Etna remarked. She understands that Laharl despises being a girl and is betting someone is behind this transformation. However, they appear different—almost happier—which is surprising, especially for someone like Laharl to embrace such a change. "Hey, what's our bonus? We completed what you asked for, right? Give us something good, dood," a Prinny exclaimed. Etna offers them a little paycheck bonus and tells them to do something before she changes her mind. She warns them that this is the only time she'll feel this generous. One Prinny suggests to the others that they head to the Arcade, and all agree to go. Once the Prinnies dashed out the door to the Arcade, Etna began to question whether this was indeed Laharl or just an imposter. After all, Laharl has complained about being a girl several times, so why would he suddenly enjoy it? Something feels off, and she's determined to find out the truth.
Later that night, Laharl (as a boy) and Sicily returned to the Castle. They arrive in the throne room. Flonne says that they are back and asks how they have been. Laharl said nothing vital for them to know. Etna inquires whether they went on a picnic, but Laharl responds that he wouldn't waste his time on such trivial activities. Flonne expresses her excitement about going on a picnic after Etna brings it up, which irritates Laharl. "Can everyone just be quiet? What I do when you're not here is none of your business!" Laharl shouted, clearly frustrated. As Laharl's anger grew, Sicily urged them to calm down. Meanwhile, Etna chuckled and said, "Geez, you don't have to be so dramatic. Fine, be weird by yourself. Later, Prince." before walking off. Flonne says she is sorry for upsetting them, and Laharl pushes her aside as they return to their room.
Flonne remarked, "Laharl seems stressed out again. Could it be that he's not receiving enough love and attention?" Sicily explains to Flonne that being an Overlord comes with a lot of pressure, and Laharl is working hard to become even stronger in case another enemy like Baal shows up. Flonne now gets it and plans to hug Laharl tomorrow. As Laharl slips into their pajamas and settles down for the night, Etna remains awake, anxiously anticipating the morning and hoping to avoid detection. "I wonder what's happening?" she muses to herself. She hides in a corner for the rest of the night until Laharl wakes up out of their coffin. In the late night hours, Laharl gets up to leave notes on everyone's doors outlining their tasks for the next day. He also slips a note under Sicily's door, asking her to meet him outside in the morning. "So that's what Laharl has been up to?" Etna murmurs to herself.
In the morning, Laharl gets up and crawls out a window. Etna sneaks up from behind and sees Laharl with Sicily outside. The moment has arrived for Etna to see what Laharl has been up to.

Chapter 5: Laharl Coming Out
Summary:
After being pushed around, Laharl ultimately decides to reveal her true identity to everyone. The biggest reveal of the century.
Chapter Text
In our previous scene in Chapter 4, Laharl slipped away to spend time with Sicily while Etna quietly crept up from behind. Laharl and Sicily are behind the Castle, where she eagerly awaits some quality sister bonding. Meanwhile, Etna is concealed behind a trash can, ensuring she remains unnoticed. "I wonder what Laharl is up to?" Etna mused to herself.
Sicily suggested, "Hey, how about we do something enjoyable instead of leveling up? I'm sure an Overlord like you deserves a little break." Laharl replied, "I usually prefer not to waste time, but I'll make an exception this time for us." Sicily recommends going to the amusement park. Laharl doesn't find this type of stuff, assuming, but decides to tag along. Laharl picks up the potion and takes a sip, transforming into a girl. Etna's expression is shocked as she exclaims, "Oh my god, what is going on?" She watches in disbelief as Laharl transforms into a woman. It seems impossible that someone like Laharl would willingly change into something he despises. Etna suspects that he must have been brainwashed to take such a drastic step. A rat appears by Etna. She freaks out a bit and knocks the trash cans over. Girl Laharl and Sicily hear a noise and wonder what it is. They turned around but found nothing except a rat beside an overturned trash can. Fortunately, Etna managed to conceal herself without being detected. "That was a close one. Now I need to go undercover," Etna remarked to herself.
Girl Laharl and Sicily make their way to the Netherworld theme park, which is filled with attractions, games, and food vendors. Meanwhile, Etna sneaks in wearing a Prinny mascot costume to stay undercover. She's not too happy about it, though, as she has to keep a low profile to avoid being discovered.
"I can't stand this ridiculous outfit; it's hot and smells terrible. If Laharl spots me, he might attack, especially if he and Sicily are under some brainwashing spell," said Etna
Etna also questions why Laharl would find any enjoyment in being a girl. Girl Laharl and Sicily are spending their fun time playing games and getting some ice cream. Girl Laharl and Sicily were happily seated, eating their ice cream when a group of demons suddenly rushed over to them. These enthusiastic, creepy fans of Idol Laharl Chan were taken aback to see her in person. They eagerly requested her autograph and made suggestive comments towards her. One demon even pulled out his phone to show her the latest update of the mobile game Netherworld RPG, which depicted Girl Laharl being sexually harassed and groped on screen. Girl Laharl looks completely shocked and unsettled by what she's witnessing. "Ugh… this is so frustrating! Can someone please get them away from me?" she exclaimed. She punches them away in her anger as if a strong gust of wind blew them back. After they were sent flying flies, they enjoyed the rest of their ice cream. "Finally, some peace," said Sicily.
Soon after, Etna wanders through the park, searching for Laharl and Sicily. She soon spots them engaged in a ring toss game, where Laharl skillfully lands a ring perfectly. As a result, she wins a large Prinny stuffed animal, which she presents to Sicily as a prize. Seeing her joy from winning the prize brings a smile to Laharl's face, a rare feeling for her as a demon. Etna can't help but be surprised by this unexpected scene. Etna wondered why he was having such a good time if this was Laharl. Something must have changed with him. Sicily spots Etna dressed as a Prinny mascot and, not realizing it's her, asks Laharl for a picture. "Hey there, kiddo! I'm the Prinny mascot for the theme park. Want to take a photo and get a hug with me, dood?" Etna said, using a deep voice to hide her identity. Sicily grabs her camera and gives it to Girl Laharl for a photo. After they take the picture, they walk off while Etna expresses her fatigue, stating, "I don't believe I can endure this ridiculous suit for much longer." We later see a montage showcasing Sicily and Girl Laharl enjoying various rides and strolling along the theme park.
Back at Laharl's Castle, Flonne is seen engaging in a game of Exploding Penguins with a Prinny in the throne room. She selects a card from the deck that ultimately secures her victory. Playing the decisive card that concludes the match, she exclaims, "I won again." The Prinny expresses frustration, saying, "I keep losing. This isn't fair, dood!" Etna enters through the door, and Flonne is wondering where she is. Etna said that she was getting her nails done, and that was mostly it. The Prinny was about to mention that they spotted Etna sneaking away to track down Laharl, but Etna quickly silenced them before they could spill the beans.
"Be quiet, or I'll toss you so far that no one will hear you go boom," Etna warned, whispering to the Prinny.
Sweat drips down Prinny's face as they dash away in sheer panic. Meanwhile, Laharl (as a guy) and Sicily enter the room to find out what's happening. Flonne said that she was playing a game with Prinny and that Etna was getting her nails done. Sicily shared that she and Laharl had a blast discovering new stuff in Item World today. Etna, aware that this isn't true, playfully teases about having fun at a theme park. Laharl's eyes widen with shock as he exclaims, "WHERE DID YOU GET THAT IDEA?". Etna has a sly grin as she notices Laharl starting to sweat. She teases him, saying, "Wow, Prince, you seem particularly moody right now. Is it that time of the century again?". Laharl loses his temper and shouts, "SHUT UP! WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN!?" Etna tells him to chill out, and she is just joking. She also cracks a joke about Laharl behaving like a complete girl, causing him to sweat even more as he shouts, "W-WHAT!? WHO SAID ANYTHING ABOUT THAT!?". Laharl gets even more angry and tells everyone to leave him alone. Laharl storms off to his room. Feeling a bit annoyed, Flonne tells Etna that she shouldn't upset Laharl like that. Sicily chimes in, agreeing that Laharl has been under a lot of stress lately. With her usual sass, Etna responds that she was just teasing him and that Laharl will bounce back to his usual self in no time.
Laharl slams the door shut and locks it in a fit of rage. "DAMN YOU, ETNA!" he shouts, his frustration boiling over. "I know you're plotting something. I can't handle this any longer!" Just then, Etna quietly approaches and surprises him with a "Boo!" Laharl jumps in shock and demands to know how she managed to get inside. "I want to find out why you've been changing genders," Etna says, leaving Laharl with his eyes widened.
"W-WHAT?! That's absurd! You know how much I dislike being a girl. Don't you recall the pain and suffering I go through every time I transform into one?" said Laharl
"Oh, is that so?" Etna replied, pulling out a picture of Laharl and Sicily enjoying a picnic by the Sea of Gehenna. Laharl looked taken aback but quickly dismissed the photo, insisting it was a forgery. "Someone created that picture! I've heard that robots in the human world can make photos. I think it's called AI or something like that," Laharl said, his voice tinged with anxiety. Etna wears a self-satisfied grin, clearly aware that Laharl is lying. "Did you lose a bet? That makes sense. Why else would this happen? I have a hunch it was Hoggmeiser you lost to." she remarked. Laharl then yanks her out of the room, insisting that she leave.
Later that evening, just before everyone heads off to sleep, Laharl gathers everyone in the throne room for an important meeting. He sits on his throne, clearly annoyed. Sicily, Etna, Flonne, and the Prinnies are all around him. "What's the big news, Laharl?" Flonne asks. Laharl gets off his throne and tells everyone the big news. Laharl exclaimed, "I'm fed up with everything here! No more playing around."
Laharl pulls a potion from his pocket and starts gulping it down. As he drinks, his body begins to transform, and he turns into a girl right before everyone's eyes. The crowd is left in disbelief at what they've just seen. "Laharl!" Flonne exclaims, completely taken aback.
"Yeah, that's right. I'm a woman now, and so what?" said Girl Laharl.
Flonne inquires about the reason, expressing Laharl's dislike for being transformed into a woman. Etna sensed something was off, but never expected Laharl to accept it so readily. She asks if he lost a bet or if someone is manipulating him. Laharl takes a deep breath and says no.
Laharl exclaimed, "I prefer this busty body, okay?! It's…it's more comfortable! It feels right! But it was so embarrassing to admit it! I'm supposed to be this big, scary Overlord, and nobody takes a girl Overlord seriously!"
"My mind insisted that this is my true identity and body, and it wouldn't let me rest. I felt I had no option but to accept my thoughts. Deep down, my heart desired this, and it was unwise of me to deny it. I still feel as strong as ever. I'm still Laharl, and I won't change just because I'm now a girl", Laharl added. Flonne's eyes light up, and she tears up joyfully as she tries to hugs Laharl. "Laharl! You're finally accepting who you are!" she exclaims. Laharl doesn't like being hugged too hard and tells her to back off.
"Well, I'll be damned. I never thought this would happen in a million years, but here we are," said Etna
Sicily mentioned that she had been aware of Laharl's true identity as a girl for the last few days and had been enjoying private moments with Laharl as a woman. Sicily told everyone else, "No matter if you're my brother or sister, my love for you is the same." Hearing this stirred emotions in Laharl that she hadn't experienced in a long time, causing a tear to fall. "A tear? I can't remember the last time I shed a tear," Laharl thought. Flonne wonders how Laharl switches between being a boy and a girl. Laharl then reveals a needle, explaining that it's the antidote for changing back. After crushing the antidote, Laharl smirks and says, "Oops,"
Laharl's actions take everyone aback. Etna inquires if she plans to revert to being a guy, to which Laharl confirms that this is the body she will maintain indefinitely. "Well done, Prince—" Etna hesitates, "Or should I call you Princess?" Laharl responds, "Princess? Nah, I'm more like a Queen! I'm still an Overlord, after all. Let my voice and power resonate throughout the entire universe!" Laharl starts to do her iconic laugh as she sits back on her throne.
The Prinnes quickly shout, "Go, Overlord-Laharl chan, dood!" which makes Laharl feel even more empowered. "If these losers can boost my pride, then I'm something amazing," Laharl remarked as the Prinnes bowed before her. Flonne wonders how they managed to get the potion that transformed them into a girl. Laharl admits that she has a secret contact at a lab but won't reveal who it is. She also notes that there have been no strange side effects, even though she anticipated the worst from this individual.
Flonne suggests to Laharl, "Next, we should set up a magical girl transformation sequence for you for a superhero show!" But Laharl quickly warns her not to get carried away, maintaining her fierce attitude. Laharl instructs everyone to go to bed for the night, reminding them that a new day awaits.

Chapter 6: The Era of Queen Laharl Commences!
Summary:
Day one with Laharl as the female overlord. How does she start things off? She dives in with style!
Chapter Text
The news of Laharl's transition into a full-time woman was spread across the Netherworld. The residents of the netherworld were shocked by the recent turn of events, as they would not expect Laharl to turn out like that. Laharl appeared in magazines and had a renaming ceremony, adopting the name "Queen Laharl." Usagi and Pleinair begin covering the turn of events on SatilTV.
"It's 6:00, and you know what that means—it's time for the news!" We're now live-streaming footage of Overlord Ms. Laharl across all the Netherworlds," Usagi announced.
Laharl is now on camera being interviewed by Sammy, the shark doll in the Netherworld. Laharl tells them that they are still Laharl; gender and this body make no difference. She throws a giant ball into the sky, which creates a giant explosion in the sky. Laharl told the news camera, "if you mock me for my gender or body, you'll regret it. I'm still a formidable overlord, and nobody's going to mess with me!"
The paparazzi show up and start crowding around her, snapping photos like crazy. Feeling overwhelmed, she shoves them away with a strong punch, telling them to back off. The tv cuts back to SatilTV, where Usagi announces, "Ladies and gentlemen, that was the formidable female overlord, Laharl—both a stunning beauty and a harbinger of destruction. Coming up next, stay tuned for the upcoming news on the Netherworld lottery. Check these numbers to see if you've struck the jackpot."
In Laharl's throne room, Laharl is seen watching the news before switching off the TV. A smirk appears on her face, reflecting her delight in announcing her status as a formidable overlord, even with her new identity and appearance. Flonne is hard at work putting up the banner behind Laharl's throne that she made that reads "ALL HAIL OVERLORD-LAHARL CHAN!" in shades of light blue, light pink, and white. Laharl glances around and questions the strange color selections. Laharl remarked, "What's up with the odd color selections? This isn't what I envisioned for a banner."
"These colors represent love. I've heard that they're chosen by individuals whose identities are different from the ones they were born into," said Flonne.
Sicily shows up in the room and is amazed by Flonne's banner. Laharl thought to herself, "If she enjoys it, I suppose I'll hang onto it." Laharl asked Flonne and Sicily to swap out all the castle banners for the one Flonne created. Soon after, Grosso, Rainier, and Garungun enter the throne room. Laharl questions their intentions, wondering if they're now rejecting her as their overlord simply because they're women.
"We acknowledge and honor you as the Queen of the Netherworld. I have no desire to engage in battle with you again, as we did previously. However, we must caution you about certain demons that will try to overthrow you, as they refuse to accept a female overlord." said Grosso
"I shall defend the Overlord with all my strength," said Garungun.
Laharl smirks and declares, "Let them come. I will demonstrate to these fools who they are messing with. If they wish to challenge me with all their power, I will reduce them to ashes!"
Etna playfully warns Laharl to be cautious now that she's a woman, joking that they might end up in a situation where they can have a bun in the oven. Laharl is grossed out by the idea and insists she would remove her uterus before that happens.
"Who would have thought that the baby that I once babysat would become a total beauty idol?" said Rainier.
Laharl looks off-putting after she mentioned that, as it was Rainier's fault for being traumatized by sexy women's bodies. Laharl wouldn't have taken so long to come out and admit to being a woman if it wasn't for her. Flonne and Sicily return from hanging up the banners to ask what is going on. Etna mentions that Laharl was getting mad at Rainier and Grosso for warning about the dangers of demons overthrowing Laharl. Sicily asks Laharl if she is worried, but Laharl is not too concerned. Laharl also points out that they have the Dark Assembly on their side to back them up (despite how creepy they may be towards her).
"So what's next, Queen? You're going to host a Netherworld fashion show to kick off your reign?" said Etna
Laharl stroked her chin and said, "Hmm... that's not a bad idea." Etna spits out her drink and says that she was just joking.
"Of course! If I'm going to rule the Netherworld, I might as well do it in style," said Laharl.
Flonne and Sicily get so excited about the idea and suggest that they should go shopping at the Netherworld Mall. Laharl smirks mischievously, convinced that her beauty will triumph over everyone else. "Alright, let's go," said Flonne as she was ready to rush out the door.
At the Netherworld Mall, we see a group of demons walking around and going shopping. We see Laharl, Flonne, Sicily, and Etna inside a clothing store looking for clothes. They spent the last few hours trying to find clothes that would look good, but with no luck. All hope is lost when Laharl notices a yukata outfit (as seen in Makai Wars) on display.
"That's it. This is what I'm looking for!" said Laharl
The price for it is very expensive, but Laharl does get a discount for being an Overlord. Laharl goes into the changing room and puts on her new outfit. Laharl looks at herself in the mirror and feels euphoric. This outfit gives her an aura of strength, and there's no question she'll come out on top at the fashion show. Laharl walks out of the changing room looking completely self-satisfied with an amused smirk in her new outfit.
"This is going to win without a doubt," said Laharl
Flonne and Sicily looked amazed by Laharl's outfit. They both rushed up to Laharl hugging her. Laharl would normally hate this, but they decided to let them hug her once.
"You know, Laharl… this might be the first time I've seen you genuinely happy," said Etna
"Damn right." Laharl said back to Etna. After they go shopping, Laharl and the others head back to the Castle to get ready for the fashion show. Later that day, we see a big live stage with everyone in the audience waiting for the show to begin. Behind the backstage, we see Laharl getting her stuff together as she is ready for the big show to begin. Of course, she has competition. Adell and Rozalin arrive, with Rozalin donning a stunning dress made out of red roses. Mao, Almaz, and Sapphire also make an appearance at the fashion show. Sapphire is dressed in a gorgeous silver outfit that is truly a sight to behold. Zed, Melodia, Majolene, and Bieko also make an appearance at the event. Etna, Flonne, and Sicily make their way into the backroom, where they inform Laharl that the competition may prove challenging. Laharl chuckles, confident that she will emerge victorious in the fashion show regardless of the obstacles.
In the backroom, Adell and Rozalin observe Etna alongside Laharl and the others. "I heard you transitioned into a chick, but now I'm witnessing it firsthand," Adell remarked. Laharl recalls having encountered Adell and Rozalin previously in the past. Rozalin concedes that Laharl is indeed pretty, yet she is aware that she cannot compete with her. Laharl gets mad, but Sicily tells her to calm down. Mao randomly jumps into the conversation and asks if Laharl was the one who bought the potion. Mao demands credit if she wins the contest, as Laharl wouldn't be here if it weren't for him. Laharl looks annoyed and tells Mao to back off. Suddenly, a voice cuts through the silence, declaring, "If anyone's going to win, it's going to be me!"
Lanzarote makes her entrance, eager to take the spotlight. "It's been ages, hasn't it, Laharl?" she says. Laharl recalls her as the pop sensation that Sicily adores, and starts to ponder what has happened to her since then.
"You made me your caretaker for Sicily after you nearly killed me, and I quit when I wasn't getting paid enough. My idol career dropped afterward, and I have been doing gimmicks and collabs to hold onto my fame on DemonTube with no results," said Lanzarote.
Lanzarote believes that this is her chance to make a comeback for her career and still hopes to seize the Overlord throne. Laharl points out that she is still as selfish and manipulative as usual.
Now, the fashion show begins. A succubus with a microphone begins to talk as they are the announcer of the Netherworld Fashion Show.
"Welcome to the fashion show, boys and girls. Tonight, we have multiple people across the Netherworld here to participate in the beauty pageant. Winning the title Miss Netherworld!!" said the Succubus Announcer.
Everyone began to clap and cheer. We see six judges who will give out scores near the stage. The six judges are Pleinair, Axel the Dark Hero, Misedor, Raspberyl, a random Prinny, and Asagi. The first contestant was Prism Pink, and they instantly yelled "Bo" as they walked on the stage. The judges give them a zero out of 5 as the Pink Prism Ranger walks off crying. A line up of demons and other beings walking across the stage with different results. Pirilika walks across the stage in a pink stunning-looking outfit that amazes the crowd. It's now Lanzarote's turn to walk on stage wearing a red sleeveless twist cut out dress. The judges are impressed by her beautiful outfit. Afterward, Melodia, Majolene, Bieko, Rozalin, and Sapphire enter the stage with the audience cheering for joy. Laharl now enters the stage with their yukata outfit, which blows everyone away with how amazing it looks. After the rest of the beauty contestants walk on stage, they go back on the stage, waiting for the judges to vote. We see Pleinair, Axel the Dark Hero, Misedor, Raspberyl, a random Prinny, and Asagi whispering to each other and writing down a list on a piece of paper. Pleinair puts the list in an envelope and gives the succubus announcer the envelope that the host voted on as she begins to call out the top 5 winning members.
"Coming in at number 5 is Pirikika!" announced the succubus as Pirikkia stepped off the stage, beaming with happiness. "And number 4 goes to Melodia!" the host continued, as Melodira made her way onto the stage, waving to the crowd. "Now number three goes to Rozalin." As the host continued, Rozalin walked on stage in total style. "Number two goes to Sapphire," the succubus host continued, as Sapphire ran on the stage and grabbed her prize. The host, with a drumroll building the excitement, opens the envelope and says, "And the top spot goes to… LAHARL!" She calls out into the microphone. Laharl dashes onto the stage to claim her award with a big trophy. "Congratulations! You are now Miss Netherelam!" The Succubus host turns to Laharl and asks if he has any comments. Laharl replies, "Not only am I the best Overlord with strength, but also beauty as well."
Lanzarote rushes onto the stage, shoving Laharl aside as she exclaims, "This is so clearly rigged! I should have been the top contender, not Laharl. They're the ones who set up this contest, so it's no surprise they might have bribed the judges!" Laharl picks herself up after being shoved and tells Lanzarote that their jealousy is obvious. "You lost! Go home and whine to your tiny fan base that's still hanging on," Laharl said. Lanzarote erupts in anger, snatching the microphone and declaring.
"Laharl shouldn't even be in this beauty contest to begin with, since they were born male and not a real woman. Just using some magic to become a woman doesn't mean you can outshine everyone. Laharl needs to be disqualified!" said Lanzarote.
Laharl's eyes blaze with a fierce red as she lunges at Lanzarote. "Tell me why I shouldn't kill you this time." Laharl demands, after punching her in the face. Flonne and Sicily rush in to prevent Laharl from causing any more harm. "Just leave her alone and let her go!" Sicily urged. Taking her advice, Laharl orders two Armor Knights to escort Lanzarote out. "You haven't seen the last of me!" Lanzarote declared. The Succubus announcer grabbed the microphone from the floor and said, "That's a wrap for tonight, everyone! Thanks for tuning in!"
At the castle, Laharl sits with her arms crossed, completely self-satisfied in the throne room, lounging on her throne surrounded by a mountain of gifts and prizes from the evening's show. She's sporting a crown and has a spear resting on the right side of her seat (a reference to the Supreme Overlord Laharl design from Disgaea RPG). Laharl bursts into a loud, boisterous, iconic laugh. While Flonne, Etna, and Sicily sit down, enjoying themselves.
Flonne overlooked asking why Etna skipped the fashion show. Etna replied, "I'm already a super glamorous and beautiful demon. Running would be pointless for me." Laharl comments that Etna would still lose if she did run against her at the fashion show. Etna expresses her frustration and warns Laharl to be careful, reminding her that she is still a beauty queen.
"Don't let your ego inflate any more than it already has. Deep down, you're still a spoiled brat! There's no chance that I, the most stunning demon girl, could ever lose in a beauty contest to you." said Etna
Laharl feels a bit annoyed but soon calms down. "Whatever," she says. "I had an awesome day, and I'm not going to let my vessel mess it up." Flonne wonders what's on the agenda next. Laharl ponders for a moment and thinks, "That's probably all for today." Then, breaking the fourth wall, Laharl announces it's time to wrap up the episode, as the credits start rolling to a lively, silly anime tune.

Chapter 7: EDF Returns
Summary:
A month has gone by since Laharl won the Netherworld Beauty Pageant; it's just another slow day in the Netherworld until an unexpected visitor shows up. A visitor who is linked to someone that Laharl encountered many years back.
Chapter Text
A month has passed since the beauty contest and things at the palace are business as usual. Laharl is seen playing some video games in her bedroom. Etna is having the Prinnies clean up the throne room, while Sicily and Flonne are painting the hallways. Flonne is wondering why they have to do all the hard work today, while Laharl is just being lazy. Sicily tells Flonne to just go with it as they still have to follow orders. A few hours later, the Castle was nice and clean. Laharl sits down in the throne room with her crown, telling everyone to come forth. Sicily, Flonne, Etna, and The Prinnies arrived in the throne room waiting for orders.
“Well, you guys did okay. So here’s your pay” said Laharl
She gives out each of them some HL (gold). Flonne is happy that she can buy the newest Prism Ranger figure released by Badai on their website. Sicily is happy to get the job done to make her big sister happy. Etna and the Prinnies get the short end of the stick. “Give me a raise already! I’ve been doing this crap for you for years now!” said Etna. Laharl smirks and tells her that she and the Prinnies miss a spot on the ground. She sees a tiny bit of dirt that barely anyone can see. Etna is angry and tells the Prinnies to scrub the floors again. Etna mutters to herself, "There are times when I just can't stand you, even as a girl." Just as things are going off normally, a big crash can be heard.
“What the heck was that?” said Laharl
Grosso walks into the throne room and informs Laharl that someone has arrived in the Stellar Graveyard. Laharl realizes she had completely forgotten about that place and decides to check it out.
In the Stellar Graveyard, we see a spaceship nicely landed on the ground. It’s a big, large ship that looks like it belongs in a classic 1950s science fiction movie, with bright neon lights and silver colors. The Earth Defense Force logo can be seen on the front of the ship. Outside the ship, we see a young woman with blond hair, blue eyes with a busty body in a purple space suit searching around the place. The woman thought to herself, "I hope they give me the right directions." Laharl and the gang made their way to the Stellar Graveyard. Flonne comments on how nostalgic the place feels, reminding her of the time they encountered Gordon, Jennifer, and Thursday. Since Sicily wasn’t there back then, she asks who Flonne is referring to. Etna explains that they were humans sent from Earth with the mission to eliminate the overlord, but it turned out to be a setup by General Carter to invade the Netherworld. Laharl mentions that she destroyed their entire spaceships like it was nothing. Sicily recalls hearing something about that from Lamington some time ago. While they were talking, they noticed the young woman searching around some rocks.
“Could this be the person who crash-landed here?” said Laharl
“Maybe it would be good if we went up with open arms and see if they are friendly,” said Flonne.
Laharl mentions not to let their guard down and this could be a trap. The young space woman sighed, "This map has led me to a dead end. I need to go back to the ship and figure out my route again." Meanwhile, Laharl spotted a gun on her and decided to walk over to her.
“Who do you think you are, just hanging out here like this is your personal parking lot?” said Laharl.
The young space woman spun around, startled by Laharl's voice. She quickly reached for her weapon at point-blank. "Who exactly are you?" she asked. Laharl starts by asking who she is first. Flonne spots the spaceship and recognizes the EDF logo. "Earth Defense Force?!" she exclaims, her voice rising in surprise! Laharl is shocked to hear that name again after so many years.
“I’m Jane Gordon. Age 22 and soon to be the 39th Defender of Earth. The Earth Defense Force has sent me to look for the Overlord Laharl. Where is he?” said Jane,
“I’m Overlord Laharl. What do you guys want this time?” said Laharl
Jane grabs an old photo of Laharl, Flonne, and Etna out of her pocket and glances over it. "Are you positive? The details I have on Overlord Laharl say he’s just a little kid who hasn’t hit puberty yet." Laharl confirms that they are Overlord Laharl, and they are different from last time. She just wants to know who she really is, and what does the Earth Defense Force want?
“I’m the daughter of Captain Gordon, the 37th Defender of Earth and Jennifer” said Jane
“Wait…what? You mean those two had a kid?! How long has it been?” said Laharl
Jane noted that it's been 22 years since Laharl and the gang last saw Captain Gordon. Laharl assumed it was a lot more recent, but Flonne reminded her that time flows differently in the Netherworld and Celestia. Laharl still wants to know why the EDF sent her out here for?
“Earth has been dealing with an invasion of groups of mutant space monsters called the “Batchnids” that have been trying to conquer Earth for some time now. They want to use humanity for menial labor and drain all of our resources," Jane explained, "We can only hope that the Overlord is our last chance for survival." Laharl pondered whether to accept the proposal. "Usually, I'd tell you all to handle your own problems, but why not? Let me show these alien bastards the true power of an Overlord. I want the whole Universe to fear me!" Laharl declared.
Jane is delighted to see Laharl help out. Jane tells everyone to go into their spaceship as they plan to travel to Earth. As soon as they step into the spaceship, Jane instructs everyone to buckle up and take their seats because it’s going to be a wild ride. The ship takes off into the sky and hits warp speed. Inside the warp zone, vibrant colors flash by. Flonne gazes out the window, captivated by the beautiful hues, while Laharl starts to feel a bit queasy. A few minutes later, they find themselves just outside Earth's orbit. Laharl, Etna, Flonne, and Sicily peer out the window to catch a glimpse of Earth.
“This is Earth, huh? Doesn’t look that special to me” said Laharl
“You know this is the planet that our mom is from? Won’t it be nice to see more of Earth afterward?” said Sicily
Laharl now thinks about that possibility after she brought it up. Not long after, the spaceship touches down in a high-tech city, specifically in a designated EDF parking lot. Jane, Laharl, and the crew step out, with Flonne wide-eyed at the surrounding sights. “Wow! Earth is way cooler than I ever thought it would be!” she exclaimed. Laharl is curious about the alien invaders' whereabouts, but Jane reassures them that they won’t show up for another 24 hours. Etna asks where Gordon and Jennifer are. Jane mentions that they are back at home in their apartment, and they can easily go there with the help of teleportation. They stroll over to a booth resembling an old-school telephone booth, and Jane enters the code to initiate the teleportation. Suddenly, a bright flash envelops them, causing them to disappear right before their eyes.
Laharl, Jane, and the gang get teleported into a living room that screams 1950s-1960s retro futurism. The living room is bursting with vibrant colors like orange, teal, and lime green, paired with shiny silver, white, and black accents. You’ll find funky-shaped plastic tables, sleek furniture with slender, angled legs, and a massive TV screen taking center stage. Plus, there’s a circular window that offers a stunning view of the city outside. “Mom, Dad, Krutis! I’m home!” Jane exclaimed.
Jennifer, Gordon, and Kurtis walk through the door. Jennifer, now in her mid-forties, continues to look beautiful and is currently dressed in a lovely red outfit. Gordon, at 57, has grey hair and is showing a bit of baldness, plus he’s gained some weight since Laharl last saw him. Although he’s retired from his role as the Defender of Earth, he’s still actively working as EDF Commander. Meanwhile, Kurtis is still a prinny, busy with tasks that must be completed before he can be reincarnated. Flonne shouted, "Miss Jennifer!!" as she rushed over to give her a big hug.
“Good to see you too, Flonne. You haven’t changed a bit.” said Jennifer
Gordon asks Jane if she’s located Laharl, and she says that she’s right next to them. Gordon is confused, wondering if that’s really Laharl since he remembers him as a little boy, not an adult woman with a sexy body. "Is that really you, Laharl, or are you some big sister of Laharl’s family I’ve never met?" he says as he approaches her. Laharl, feeling irritated by Gordon invading her personal space, remarked, “I’m still the same Laharl as before. A lot has changed since we last met. You’re still an idiot as usual.” Gordon, taken aback by Laharl's transformation into a woman, nearly chuckled as if they had lost a bet. Laharl, growing frustrated, shot back, “At least I didn’t become old and fat like you!”. Etna laughed when she heard that, while Gordon looked embarrassed after Laharl's remark. "To put it simply, I've come to understand my gender identity. If you make fun of me again, I'll turn to dust," Laharl declared. Gordon quickly apologized and assured her it wouldn't happen again.
“That’s so sweet, you've just realized the wonders of womanhood Harlie…or is it Harley now?” said Jennifer,
“Whatever. It doesn’t matter” said Laharl
Jennifer spotted Sicily and was curious about her. “Hey there! I’m Sicily, Laharl’s little sister,” Sicily introduced herself. Jennifer and Gordon were taken aback to discover that Laharl has a younger sister. “It’s quite a story. We’ll fill you in later,” Laharl replied. So much has happened since their last encounter that it’s overwhelming for both of them to process. Kurtis is a bit disappointed that no one has bothered to ask him about anything.
“Where's my hello?” said Kurits.
“Oh right, hi… You were that cyborg guy, right? What was your name again?” said Laharl.
“It’s Kurtis and that's correct. I’m currently the 38th Defender of Earth. Did you guys seriously forgot about me?” said Kurtis
Flonne still recalls him as the cyborg who initially attempted to kill them, but eventually allied with everyone in Celestia. “I’m glad to hear you remember me! I've been occupied with thwarting evil robot duplicates of myself over the years and mentoring Jane. I hope to hand over the title of Defender of Earth to her when she’s ready,” Kurtis remarked. Etna asked, "What ever happened to that Thursday robot you all had?" Jane got excited and told Thursday to walk into the living room. Thursday is now a girl robot (Transformed Thursday from Disgaea RPG) and is happy to see everyone.
“Beep beep boop... Hello...no time long see” said Thursday
Laharl is taken aback to find Thursday transformed into a girl and asks what occurred. Jane clarifies that Thursday was assigned the role of her caretaker and expressed a desire to be like a big sister to her. To enhance this connection, Jennifer and Krutis decided to upgrade Thursday’s body to make it more humanoid. Jennifer also mentions that Thursday now possesses double the firepower following the upgrade. Flonne notes that Laharl isn’t the only one who has undergone changes over the years. Laharl smirks, as usual.
“... Beep boop beep…Laharl…” said Thursday
Thursday's eyes light up as she rushes over to Laharl. She wraps her arms around Laharl, squeezing her tightly. "Let go of me this instant!" Laharl exclaims while being hugged. Jane playfully comments that Thursday appears to have a special affection for Laharl, noting that they've never seen this kind of emotion from her before. Flonne, filled with excitement, wonders aloud if robots can truly experience love.
“GET OFF OF ME!!!” Laharl said out loud. Jane told Thursday that’s enough and Thursday, simply stop the hugging. Gordon and Jennifer shared their wedding photos with Flonne and the rest, since they missed their wedding from years back. Gordon says that they had Kruits as their best man, and they had a lovely honeymoon on Mars. “Cut the married couple talk! What are we going to do in the next 24 hours?” said Laharl. Suddenly, Flonne got an idea, with a light bub appearing above her head for a brief second.
“Why not travel across the world and go to the beach? We are legally required to have one beach episode just like any anime episode” said Flonne
“Oh I love that idea! We should visit across the Earth and see the major landmarks in no time, and I know a perfect place to get some swimsuits” said Jane
Sicily gets excited as she always wanted to do this. “Okay whatever. Anyone who starts taking pictures without my consent or if humans start acting like total perverts, I start vaporizing people!” said Laharl. Gordon tells them to step in on the teleporter in the living room, and he begins to punch in the code on his phone to teleport everyone in the spaceship. A few seconds later, they teleported inside the spaceship. "Where should we head first?" Sicily asked. "We can go anywhere. Our ship can zoom around and check out any spot on Earth in just seconds," Jenifier responded. Flonne's eyes widened with excitement at the thought of all the amazing places on Earth. "LET'S GOOOOOO!" Flonne shouted excitedly. The spaceship flies out into the sky, and there is a montage of the characters visiting various places on Earth like New York City, Tokyo, London, Paris, Madrid, Beijing, etc. While in Tokyo, Flonne is carrying a giant bag of merch of various giant robots in Akihabara. Fast-forward later, Laharl and the others are at the beach somewhere on Earth. Gordon and Kurtis are laying down on their beach towels, soaking in some sun. Flonne, Etna, Jennifer, Sicily, Jane, and Thursday all dressed in their swimsuits. Flonne and Etna are sporting their swimsuits from Disgaea RPG. Thursday looks great in a one-piece bathing suit, Jane is in a pink bikini, and Jennifer is wearing a red bikini. Meanwhile, Laharl is in the changing room, preparing to change.
“Come on, big sister. You shouldn’t be embarrassed in your swimsuit!” said Sicily,
“Fine!” said Laharl out loud. She walks out the door wearing their swimsuit hoodie (as seen in Disgaea RPG). The swimsuit brings back memories of an outfit she wore in a dream. It felt surprisingly great to try something new and different for the first time, filling her with a sense of euphoria. Feeling a warm and fuzzy feeling deep down in her heart.
“This swimsuit isn't too shabby, actually. It fits well for an Overlord.” said Laharl
“You look pretty good, Laharl, but I still stand out as the best in the whole group. After all, I’m the beauty queen of the entire multiverse” said Etna
As soon as Laharl steps out, a bunch of beach human photographers show up and start snapping pics of her. Laharl gets furious, creates a fireball, and turns them into dust. “Let’s get moving! I don’t want to deal with any more creeps." Jennifer suggests the idea of playing volleyball, which everyone agrees with. The volleyball game kicks off with Flonne tossing the ball high for a jump serve. With a powerful swing, the ball zooms over the net. Then, Etna rushes in, dives low, and perfectly hits the volleyball to the front. Jane swiftly tosses the ball high, leaps, and smashes a topspin jump serve over the net. Right after that, Transformed Thursday jumps high, hangs in the air—and slams the ball down the line. The ball hits the ground and goes out of bounds.
“...Beep boop beep…My bad…” said Thursday
Round 2 is starting, and now it's Laharl's turn to serve. She throws the ball up high, leaps into the air, and smashes the volleyball down onto the sand. "Watch out!" Jane shouted as they both dashed away just before the ball hit the ground. Laharl's spike was so powerful that it left a large crater in the beach. "Haha! Looks like I’m the winner!" Laharl said to herself.
Later that day, they returned home for the night. During the day, Laharl and the others help catch up with Jennifer, Kurtis, and Gordon and the others on what they missed out on. “Not only do you discover that Laharl has a little sister, but Etna also had a brother who tried to kill you all. It sounds like a wild adventure that we totally missed out on.” said Gordon." At least we got to meet Sicily, and she's super sweet," Jennifer said. Sicily feels grateful after hearing that nice comment. Thursday is attempting to hug Laharl, but she is shoving her away. "I've told you a billion times today already. I don't want a hug from you!!" Laharl exclaimed loudly. Jane asks Thursday to stop as she moves away, looking sad. "I just want to go to bed already. I can't wait to show these space invaders who's the strongest," Laharl said. Everyone makes their way to their bedrooms. Laharl is peacefully asleep when she hears a sound in her mind. "It’s not too late to revert to normal!" She awakens and realizes it was likely just her imagination, she goes back to sleep.
It's morning, and we find Laharl and the others in the EDF command center. In the center of the room, there's a large monitor surrounded by industrial corridors, metal walkways, and blast doors. The multi-level control room features operators at their consoles below, while Commander Gordon oversees everything from a raised platform above. "When are the Batchnids going to get here? I’ve been waiting for about 5 hours," Laharl said as Gordon, Kurtis, Jennfier, Thursdays, and Jane stepped off the elevating platform. Gordon is dressed in a green military suit that looks a lot like what General Carter wore in the first Disgaea game. "They'll be here any minute now. We have the monitor that lets us know when they arrive."
Laharl forgot to ask whatever happened to the General Carter guy? "The last we heard of Carter is that he was spotted with an escape pod. Since then, he has not been seen. After he left Earth, Gordon assumed the role of Commander, and I subsequently became the new Defender of Earth," stated Kurtis. All of a sudden, red lights begin to flash off, altering that the invaders have arrived. “Ahahahahahaa... AHAHAHAHAHAHA!. Time to kick some alien ass!” Laharl exclaimed. “Come on, everyone!” said Jane as they rushed out to the door.
A massive spaceship looms over the moon, making its way toward Earth's orbit. The mother spaceship measures more than 700 kilometers in diameter. Batchnids, a swarm of bat-like spider monsters (inspired by the creature from The Angry Red Planet), begin to materialize through teleportation right in the heart of the city, unleashing gunfire on unsuspecting civilians in an advanced urban landscape. "So these are the aliens you guys have been fighting for years?" Laharl remarked. "Watch out!" Sicily shouts as one of them tries to hit Laharl with an axe, but Laharl manages to take it down with just one punch. "That was a piece of cake," Laharl says to herself. Etna strikes down several Batchnids at once with her spear, while Flonne shoots holy hearts at the remaining Batchnids, making them burst into a flurry of flames. Kruits unleashes his rocket punch, sending a massive 20-meter tall Batchnids tumbling to the ground. Sicily captures a bunch of Batchnids in a box and transports them to a frozen area, where she crafts an ice hammer and smashes them into pieces. She then swiftly returns to the city soon in a blink of an eye. Thursday turns into a beam sword and Jane slashes through multiple enemies. "It appears that humans possess their own version of Magichange," as noted by Etna.
"You possess considerable skills. You would prove to be a formidable opponent," remarked Laharl after observing Jane's performance. Jane expresses her gratitude towards her. Laharl's scarf transforms into wings, and grabs her spear as she ascends into outer space to obliterate the mothership. As Laharl soars into space, we spot 700 smaller yet massive spaceships, each 30 kilometers wide, heading straight for her. With a single strike, Laharl obliterates all 700 ships using black flames that shoot through her enemies from her spear. Laharl gets closer to the mothership, and a giant hologram screen pops up in front of it. On the screen, there are two Batchnids who start asking, "Who are you?" as they realize that Laharl isn't from Earth or human.
“I’m Overlord Laharl. Queen of the Netherworld and strongest in the universe!” said Laharl
"The Netherworld? You mean that place that is inhabited by evil creatures? It appears the rumors were indeed true," remarked the Batchnids. The other Batchnid assert that they are unafraid of her, as they unleash a green laser beam capable of obliterating the Earth with a single strike, directed at Laharl. The beam caused no harm as Laharl started to laugh, noting that there was not a single scratch on her. "Is that the best you can do? How pathetic," Laharl remarked.
Laharl takes her spear and slices the mothership in half, resulting in a massive explosion that reduces the ship into pieces. Laharl then flies back to Earth while everyone celebrates their victory. The two Batchnids come crashing down to Earth with parachutes as they hurry towards Laharl and the rest. "We surrender! Earth has won this war. Please don’t kill us," the Batcnids pleaded.
"I'll spare your life if you build a statue of me on your home planet to remind everyone how I kicked your guys' butts for generations to come. Plus, make sure to tell other planets in the cosmos about how evil and powerful I am, since I'm the strongest in the universe. Before you know it, the entire universe will know me as Laharl the Terrible. HAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!" Laharl declared.
“One thing that’s stayed the same over the past 22 years is your massive ego and that laugh of yours.” said Gordon
Not long after, the Batchnids head back to their home planet, and the President of Earth, a young woman in her 30s, awards Laharl a medal for saving the world in front of the EDF command center building. "We couldn't have done it without you, Harlie," Jennifer said. "It's time to go back home. Next time, make sure to clean up your mess," Laharl said as she prepared to leave. Flonne wraps her arms around Gordon, Jennifer, Kruits, and Jane in a big hug. "What if I tag along with you all? I'm eager to check out the Netherworld, and it would be great practice for a Defender of Earth trainee," Jane suggested.
Etna, Sicily, and Flonne are completely cool with it. On the other hand, Laharl takes a moment to ponder. "Alright, just keep that robot 20 feet away from me. I could use another vassal while I'm at it," Laharl said. Jane feels thrilled, but she informs Laharl that they won't be there for too long. Gordon, Jennifer, and Kruits are okay with this as long as she returns home safely. "Perhaps you could become the Slayer of the Netherworld, Jane. Hehe," Laharl remarked. Jane made a distasteful expression, as that was not a title she desired. "Hey, that's the stupid title you intended to bestow upon me years ago," Gordon chimed in. Laharl remarked that he was surprised that Gordon remembered that. Laharl, Flonne, Etna, Sicily, Jane, and Thursday make they're way into the EDF spaceship and take off as they journey back to the Netherworld, while Gordon, Jeniffer, and Krutis wave goodbye.

Chapter 8: Prideful Pandemonium! Netherworld's First Pride Festival!
Summary:
After Laharl saved the Earth from an alien invasion, Jane Gordon and Thursday join Laharl and the gang as they venture into the Netherworld to train and participate in a Netherworld pride event.
Chapter Text
After saving Earth from the alien invasion, Laharl and the others head back to the Netherworld. Jane and Thursday decided to stay in the Netherworld for a bit. They park the spaceship directly in front of the castle. Shortly afterward, they go inside the castle, and Jane is amazed at how big the castle is. It’s just as she imagined it from the stories that her mom and dad told her as a little kid. Even Flonne tells Jane that sometimes she gets lost in the castle because of how big it is.
“So where do Thursday and I sleep?” Jane asked.
Laharl pointed out that they would sleep on the floor in the throne room like Gordon did years ago, as they didn’t have a guest room. The nearest hotel is far away, and Jane had no HL (gold) for it. “Jeez, thanks,” said Jane with an annoyed look on her face. Laharl pointed out that she is still a demon by the end of the day and is not always so generous. Flonne told Jane and Thursday not to worry because she had some leftover sleeping bags. Mentioning that she was going to do a girl's night sleepover years ago but never had the chance. Laharl remembers hearing that back when she first turned into a girl from the yuie flowers.
“At last, I'm having a sleepover with the girls! Hey Jane and Thursday, let's catch Z.H.P. Unlosing Ranger x Prism Rangers: Super Hero Taisen on TV. It kicks off in 90 minutes.” said Flonne
“Oooh! I love tokusatsu movies and shows. Thursday can make some popcorn while we wait!” said Jane.
Sicily wants to join the sleepover, meanwhile Etna is ready to go to bed as she needs her beauty sleep. Laharl tells them that they can enjoy their dumb superhero movies while Laharl heads off for the night. While Laharl is heading to bed, she can’t help thinking about that voice that she heard last night on Earth. It felt dysphoric, as if it was trying to haunt her. Telling her to go back to the ways that she was once as a guy. Laharl just thinks all the stress in her head is causing her not to think properly. She begins to enter her coffin and begins to fall asleep. Laharl appears in a blank void with a black and white warp skybox. “Where the hell am I?” said Laharl out loud. As Laharl is walking around, suddenly a shadow silhouette of Boy Laharl appears.
“Tsk, tsk. Look at you. Getting soft. A real Overlord would never be in touch with their feelings and have other people hug them,” said Shadow Laharl.
“You’re not me. You’re just… a bad memory!” said Laharl.
Laharl mentions that she is happier than she has ever been and feels more powerful as an overlord. She at last accepts the life she was too ashamed to dedicate herself to. Shadow Laharl laughs. "Do you believe that you can eliminate gender dysphoria so effortlessly? I’m the demon that won't let you sleep at night. I am the beast that cannot be confined within a cage. I’m the one who makes you feel despair and dysphoric. I’m superior. Return to your former identity as a man!" declared the shadowy figure of Laharl.
“Tch! What is this, a typical metaphor for inner conflict? Get out of here!” as Laharl shot back at the shadowy figure. The Shadow Laharl chuckled once more, telling Laharl that their parents would be embarrassed to see them as a busty woman. "I couldn't care less about what my old man thinks. My mom would have loved and supported me no matter what!" Laharl exclaimed.
The Shadow Laharl uses his hand, and a glowing wave of energy appears, wrapping Laharl as if it were a rope. Laharl begins to turn into a grotesque blob who screams in agony, with masculine traits appearing all over their body. Laharl wakes up and screams as if they were being murdered. Thankfully, it was just a dream and nothing else. Sicily, Etna, Jane, and Flonne walk into Laharl to see what is going on. Laharl tells everyone to go back to bed, except for Sicily.
“What is the matter, big sister?” said Sicily.
“I had a nightmare. An evil version of myself appeared as a boy and was trying to force me to go back to my old self. I don’t want to do that. I like who I am,” said Laharl.
Sicily starts to look sad to hear her sister having such a bad night. “It sounds like you have some dysphoria left over,” said Sicily. Sicily recommends that Laharl look for a therapist to help her deal with the darkness. Ignoring gender dysphoria won't make it disappear; it will only get worse. Laharl finds the idea of an overlord going to therapy to be dumb and that they can handle it themselves. Sicily emphasizes that they shouldn't let Lahar's ego take over because she's concerned about Laharl's mental well-being. Just before she goes back to bed, Sicily asks for a goodnight hug. Laharl is not much of a hugger but will do it for her sister. She gives Sicily a hug just before she walks back to bed. It’s now morning, and we see Laharl among the others in the kitchen waiting for their breakfast. Thursday is cooking some pancakes and bacon for everyone to eat.
Thursday wrapped up cooking pretty fast and served everyone their plates. They dig into their food and are blown away by how delicious the pancakes are. "The food that this robot makes is a trillion times better than the slop that the Prinnies try to serve," Laharl remarks while savoring her pancakes and bacon. Thursday gets excited to hear Laharl’s comment about her food and demands a hug. Just before Thursday can hug her, Laharl creates a fireball in their hand. “I told you already. I do not want a huge one for you EVER!” said Laharl out loud. She threatens to send Thursday to the scrap heap if she moves any closer. Jane tells Thursday to stop, and Flonne gets disappointed that she didn’t see Thursday hug Laharl. Seeing a machine explain love is something truly magical to her. Jane still wants to explore the Netherworld, as it has been a dream of hers ever since she was a little kid. Laharl suggests checking out Agul Eviland since she hasn't visited it in ages. Sicily points out that Agul Eviland is packed with tough monsters, so even Jane might struggle to survive.
"That sounds awesome! I really enjoy the thrill of danger, with me being a Defender of Earth trainee after all. If I want to become a Defender of Earth, I have to take on some tough opponents," Jane exclaimed with enthusiasm. Etna is not crazy about going there as it reminds her of her brother. A couple of hours later, they arrived in Agul Eviland. A forest with deadly monsters, man eating trees, booby traps, and poison plants. They travel across the forest as they battle various monsters such as Zombies, Alraunes, Mothmen, Twinheads, Sludge monsters, and Evil Dragons. Jane picks up her gun and takes out a bunch of Alraunes and Mothmen like it's no big deal. A huge, wicked dragon that's bright blue goes after Jane, but she manages to dodge its attack. Then, Jane conjures a cosmic arrow and shoots it straight at the massive devil dragon, turning it to ashes. Thursday uses its rocket cannons to finish off the other monsters. Laharl is impressed how Jane is able to take on these monsters so quickly. Stating that she is stronger than both her mom and dad back in the day. A man eating tree branches tries to wrap Flonne up with its branches while she screams in fear. Etna swiftly cuts the tree in half, and Flonne expresses her gratitude for being saved. Right afterward, Laharl tells everyone to go home since she has some plans. As soon as they return to the castle, Laharl, Thursday, and Jane find themselves in Laharl’s secret underground training lair. Jane questions why they are back here. "Come over here!" Laharl says with a finger whistle as Grosso, Garugun, Rainier, and Barbara enter the room.
“Meet Grosso, Garugun, and Rainier. These three guys were once members of the Krichevskoy Group. Barbara is also here to attend as well. They agree to fight you one on one,” said Laharl.
Jane gets so excited to fight even more powerful opponents. Grosso steps up first, saying, "Show me what an Earth Defender can do, little human girl!" Jane rushes to punch Grosso, but notices that his body is very durable after she hurts her hand. “My body is pure, solid gold. It’ll take more than a mere punch to damage a gargoyle,” Grosso said. Jane soon powers up and blitzes over to Grosso. "Jane Chance!" Jane exclaimed, throwing a flurry of punches at Grosso. She sends him flying into the hall while declaring, "Justice shall prevail!" Laharl notices that Jane has both moves from her mom and dad. Rainier is shocked that a human was able to hurt someone like Grosso. Now it’s Garugun's turn, telling Jane that he won’t go out that easily. Jane propels Garugun into the air with a kick and then strikes them directly towards the ceiling, after which his body falls to the ground. Rainier jumps into the battle, launching Jane into the air, then catches her in her mouth, chews her up, and spits her out. Jane wipes the saliva off her body and asks, "What the heck was that?" Laharl chimes in, saying that Rainier is a rather unique demon.
Then Rainier makes an icebox and fills it with water, then breaks it open, causing a flood on the floor. Jane is drowning in the large pool of water just before Thursday manages to rescue her. The water disappears fast, and Jane starts kicking Rainier in the face. Her kick didn't really hurt much, but she wasn't ready to throw in the towel just yet. Jane was able to create a blue aura around her and form an energy ball that hurled Rainier across the field. Jane is amazed by her strength and can't help but wonder where it came from. Even Laharl is surprised that a human can have such hidden power. "Could a human actually defeat an Overlord?" Laharl thinks to herself, but then she chuckles, knowing that's just not possible.
It’s now Barbara’s turn, and Laharl tells her to go all out with no holding back. "Is that a direct order? If it is, I promise I won't disappoint you!" Barbara exclaimed as she grabbed her axe. The blue glow surrounding Jane faded away, and Thursday morphed into a beam sword just as Barbara lunged at Jane. Jane raised her beam sword to parry Barbara's strike. The two engaged in a rapid exchange of blows with their weapons. Jane slashes her sword at Barbara, knocking her to the ground. Barbara quickly gets back up and realizes her face is bleeding. She wipes the blood from her cheek and rushes at Jane. With her sword, she sends Jane flying into the air and then slams her down to the ground with a punch. Jane is completely worn out and can't get back up. All the energy she expended has drained her stamina. Just as Barbara picks up her axe, ready to finish Jane off, Laharl intervenes.
“Hey, I didn’t tell you to kill her!” said Laharl.
“You give me a direct order not to hold back. I was going to go all out and end the fight,” said Barbara.
Laharl is frustrated and tells Baraba that not killing her is a direct order. Barbara halts her actions and walks away. Laharl then asks Jane what that power was all about earlier, and Jane is just as confused as she is. They head back upstairs to clean themselves up and prepare for dinner. While eating dinner, Garugun walks in and tells Laharl that Hoggmeiser is here to see her. Etna wonders what a greedy pig like him would be doing here and wonders if he plans to take over the castle. Laharl told everyone to relax, that Hoggmeiser works for her. Laharl walks into the throne room and greets Hoggmeiser.
“Hello Queen Laharl. *snicker* I have some merchandise plans for you. Do you want to see? *snort*” said Hoggmeiser
“What do you have in store?” said Laharl
Hoggmeiser takes out a box filled with merchandise. Inside, there are Pop Idol Queen Overlord t-shirts, action figures, comic books, and even nail polish. Laharl is quite impressed since they actually managed to capture her likeness for the merch. Etna, Flonne, Sicily, Jane, and Thursday walk into the Throne Room to see what's happening. "Why are you hanging out with Hoggmeiser now? He's such a creep," Etna asked. Laharl explained that she’s now pursuing a pop idol career because she wants her voice and music to resonate throughout the multiverse. Being the strongest, most beautiful, and amazing overlord singer ever, she realized there was a huge demand for her return as a pop idol, so she decided to hire Hoggmeiser as her manager.
“He was Lanzarote manager back in the day. So he knows how to handle a business. Besides, if he plans to betray me or does something perverted, I can beat his sorry butt again. I already defeated him twice before," said Laharl.
“By the way *snicker* We have Laharl-chan body pillows arriving soon. Pre-orders sold out in a matter of seconds *snort*” said Hoggmeister
Laharl wasn't exactly excited about the whole body pillow thing, but hey, whatever. Flonne asks when Laharl's concert is happening. "I've got it all set for the Sea of Gehenna during the Netherworld pride event. *snicker*" Hoggmeister replied. Laharl is curious about what a pride event actually is. "Is it a chance for Overlords to flaunt their pride as mighty demons? If that's the case, Laharl can definitely show them some wrath too." Laharl asked.
"No, you silly! We have pride events on Earth as well. It's a time when LGBTQ+ individuals come together to celebrate who they are. Whether you're gay, bi, trans, non-binary, or anything else, it's all about embracing your identity," Jane said.
Laharl is shocked to see that something like this actually exists. Flonne is thrilled to learn that such a wonderful event can exist, her face lighting up with glowing joy. Sicily talked about how Laharl coming out as a woman inspired others in the Netherworld to transition on different social media platforms like DemonTube, Deddit, Demongram, Red Sky, and so on. Laharl is really surprised by the impact they had on people. "I’m going to make sure this is the biggest pride event ever and let my beautiful voice be heard," Laharl told everyone. As Laharl exclaimed, "While we're at it, let's make it Laharl Appreciation Day!" Etna shot back, "H-HEY!! Who gave you the right to declare dumb holidays?!" With a playful smirk, Laharl replied, "Hmm, let’s think... Oh, right! It’s ME."
Hoggmeister told everyone to get ready for tomorrow. The next day occurred, and Laharl was able to sleep well at night without any dysphoric voices in their head. Laharl is seen in a changing room putting on a special pride outfit to perform as a pop idol for today’s event. Laharl takes a deep breath as they feel nervous wearing such a tacky-looking outfit. “Come out, Big Sis,” said Sicily. Laharl walks out of the changing room and enters the throne room, while everyone is amazed at her outfit. Laharl is spotted in a stylish outfit crafted from shiny obsidian-black material, adorned with luminous runes that change hues like a holographic rainbow. Her scarf showcases a gradient of the trans flag colors. She wears fingerless gloves that are black with rainbow stitching and tiny gemstone studs shaped like flames, along with pink boots laced up in a gradient of trans flag colors. She has pink & white blush glitter on her cheeks and purple eyeliner too. As well as having a pink headband featuring an trans color oversized bow.
“WOW!!!! Laharl you look beautiful!!!” said Flonne.
“I think this is all a bit too much. I could have done a live concert without all these tacky clothes,” said Laharl.
Sicily believes that Laharl’s outfit stands out like that of an Overlord pop singer. Informing Laharl about this will be significant for her and everyone else. "Now that I think about it, this will boost my popularity as an overlord, and more people will even start to worship me. Let’s make this live stage show an unforgettable night," Laharl exclaimed. Everyone felt a surge of excitement as they made their way to the pride event at the Sea of Gehenna. Shortly after, they reached the Sea of Gehenna, where the entire plaza was adorned with colorful banners, pride flags, drag shows, rainbow fireworks, and enchanting light displays. In the background, a massive Prinny float could be seen, along with booths for "Demonic Gender Gear," "Succubi Self-Discovery Seminars," and "Evil Pronoun Pins" lining the plaza. Demons of all shapes and sizes come here to have a fun time. Flonne is seen wearing a rainbow dress to show off her support as an ally.
“This is AMAZING! Look at all the love and happiness! Even the fireworks explode into heart shapes!” said Flonne
“Even the rainbow ice cream is wonderful. I never had a dessert that was so good in years,” said Etna.
As Laharl and the others stroll through the festival, we notice other characters at the pride event having a blast. Killa sits quietly on a bench, sipping tea, while Usalia enjoys some rainbow curry, and Seraphina is having fun playing whack-a-prinny. Red Magnus is spotted waving a flag that says "AROACE POWER FLEX." Zed, Beiko, Melodia, Majolene, and Ivar are all enjoying themselves at the Pride event. Although Zed feels a bit embarrassed to be there, Melodia encourages him to relax since they are all there to have a good time. Misedor enjoys attending Pride because he profits from creating Pride merchandise. We also see Raspberyl holding hands with Asuka and Kyoko at the Pride Event, while Master Big Star shares a kiss with Fubuki. Artina is giving a talk on "Pride and Pacifism" as she casts healing magic with rainbow sparkles directed at a group of demons. Meanwhile, Ceefore and Nitra are eating ice cream together. In the background, we spot cameos of Lucy, Aileen, and Love Orcal from Disgaea RPG, along with Dronya, Isara, and Hubert from the Labyrinth games. We also see Prier from La Pucelle: Tactics, Fon-Fon from Rhapsody 2 and Liliane from Witch and the Hundred Knight. Plus, there are people waiting in line to have their fortunes read by Pram from Makai Kingdom.
Fenrich is observed meticulously arranging small rainbow sardines into a lunch box for Valvatorez at an outdoor table. Valvatorez is impressed by Fenrich's rainbow sardines and expresses that he adores sardines of every gender. “Now let's celebrate pride and wonderful sardines!” said Valvaorez as Fenrich blushed. "You’ve always been perfect just the way you are, Lord Valvatorez. But it’s nice to see the world finally recognizing your greatness," Fenrich said, blowing a kiss to Valvatorez. Sicily asked if they were a couple, to which Etna replied, "Girl, they’ve been considered married with fans since 2011."
As Laharl and the others headed to the concert, they spotted Mao at his booth with Almaz and Sapphire. A large sign read, "POTIONS THAT WILL TRANSFORM YOUR GENDER—100% GUARANTEED." Mao was grinning while holding the potions and exclaimed, "Hey, Laharl! I created gender potions for everyone! They’re sparkly now! Only for 9999 HL!" Jane ask who Mao is, but Laharl informed her that it's someone that they are known. "If it weren't for me, you wouldn't even be here. You never once showed any gratitude towards me," Mao remarked to Laharl. Laharl responded that she doesn't need to thank him and is capable of defeating him in a fight because she's gotten stronger since their last encounter. "I definitely would have won our last fight if Almaz hadn't jumped in," Laharl added. Just as Mao was about to engage in a fight, Almaz and Sapphire intervened to stop him. Sapphire then asked who the human girl and the robot were, as they didn't recognize them. "My name is Jane Gordon and I'm a Defender of Earth trainee. This robot is my sidekick Thursday" said Jane.
"...Beep boop beep..Evil Academy memories intact" said Thursday
Almaz mentions that the word “Defender of Earth” sounds familiar as they remember one guy who called themselves Defender of Earth that tried to be a teacher at the Evil Academy a while back. Jane told Almaz that it was her dad, Gordon, and he has retired from the role of Defender of Earth since then. Mao suddenly remembers Thursday and says, "You’re that robot who made gas prices go through the roof at the Evil Academy. It took ages for gas to return to normal because of you!" "Hold on, the robot that tried to attack me some time ago, is now a girl? What the heck?" Almaz exclaimed, being scared as they remembered Thursday from before. Jane told Almaz to relax, as Thursday won’t try to attack you, unlike last time.
Flonne wonders if Mao really tests his products before putting them on the market. Mao told her that he does, using different demons as test subjects. Ever since Laharl came out as a girl, Mao has been raking in cash from selling magical hormone potions. He even mentions that there's a whole black market where demons from other Netherworlds, which have prohibited gender transformations, are importing his potions. Sapphire mentions and laughs that Almaz accidentally drank a potion (mistaking it for lemonade) from Mao that turned him into a disco ball over a month ago. "Let's not bring that up again," Almaz said, clearly filled with dread.
“I don’t have time for chit-chat; I need to get ready for my big day,” said Laharl as they were in a hurry to leave. Laharl and the others head off to the big stage event. Behind the concert stage, Laharl is getting ready for the show to start. Sicily, Etna, Flonne, and the others wait as well. Hoggmeister shows up with Axel the Dark Hero, Main Hero B, and Yeyasu. “These are the guys who will be playing the instruments for tonight’s show. *snicker * ” said Hoggmeister. Laharl was surprised that she was not told about this, but Hoggmeister said it was done at the last minute. Axel waves to Laharl and asks how they are doing.
“It’s you! I remember that you’re that dark hero guy from years ago. I can’t forget how you were one of the most irritating fools that I have met next to Gordon.” said Laharl
“That’s right, Ms. Laharl. It hasn’t been that long since we last met. I was a judge at the fashion show over a month ago. Surely you must have seen me there,” said Axel.
Flonne quickly realizes that Main Hero B is an angel and asks what an angel is doing here, especially since they are not a fallen angel. "That's correct. I'm an Angel who enjoys a free-spirited life and often visits the Netherworld for fun. Axel and I have been friends for a long time. The name Main Hero B is just a stage name. Naturally, no one knows my true name except for me," Main Hero B explained. Yeyasu introduces himself as a demon from another Netherworld and mentions that both he and Axel are also quite close with each other. Laharl asks what instrument everyone is playing. Axel has his guitar, Main Hero B is playing the drums, and Yeyasu is playing a shakuhachi (an end-blown flute that is made of bamboo).
“These guys seem pretty cool. Especially Main Hero B. She looks nice,” said Sicily.
“Actually, I’m a guy,” said Main Hero B.
Sicily apologizes for misgendering him. Flonne is puzzled about how an angel with a feminine figure and noticeable breasts can be a guy. "Body parts don’t define whether someone is a boy or a girl. You should understand that angels don’t have a sex since we adopt traits from our surroundings and our own emotions have an effect as well. Did you not go to school in Celestial?" Main Hero B, he remarked. Flonne feels embarrassed for not knowing this. Yeyasu is totally flirting with Laharl, but she's not into it at all. She gives Yeyasu a swift kick in the nuts, and he doubles over in pain. "Can we just get this show on the road already!" Laharl exclaimed loudly.
The concert stage is packed with thousands (maybe even millions) of fans eagerly waiting for the show to kick off. You can see people waving signs that read "We love you, Laharl!" and "Please be my boyfriend, Axel!" As Laharl, Axel, Main Hero B, and Yeyasu step onto the stage, the crowd goes wild, cheering with excitement. Axel grabs the microphone and begins to speak.
“WELCOME, LOVERS OF THE LIMELIGHT! The one, the only, the sensationally bisexual Axel the Dark Hero has returned! I’m here to prove that loving yourself is the ultimate performance!” said Axel.
“Aaaah~! Axel, bro, your voice alone is enough to turn on millions! If I were a Prinny, I’d explode for you.” Yeyasu blushes with delight. Main Hero B takes the mic to introduce himself.
"My name is Main Hero B. I love and support ALL genders, ALL identities, and ALL those beautifully flamboyant demons! I'm getting excited~ ♥" said Main Hero B.
“Let the concert begin!” said Laharl
Just before, Laharl is about to sing on stage, until someone stops her. "Ohhh, Laharl~! Ready to lose to a real star?" said Lanzarote as she approached the stage accompanied by a small group of demons. "You must be the most annoying, irrelevant demon in the Netherworld. You really need to get a hobby other than trying to sabotage my career," Laharl replied. Etna, Flonne, and the gang are peeking from behind the stage, and Jane wants to know who she is. "She used to be a mega pop star who tried to take the Overlord's throne. Now, she's just a washed-up idol that can’t stay relevant," Etna replied. Laharl is curious about what Lanzarote has in store this time. "Are you going to attack me with your five fans that you have left?" Laharl asked. Lanzarote chuckles and discloses that she possesses a mind-control music box that will brainwash the whole audience to regain her popularity. She pulls the box from her pocket and hits the button, and before long, the entire crowd is trying to take down Laharl. Laharl powers up with her aura shining brilliantly.
The entire crowd falls back, unable to keep up with the overwhelming strength. Lanzarote is mad that her plan is not working, as Laharl taunts her with her iconic laugh. Lanzarote shoots her arrows at Laharl, but Axel deflects them with his guitar. Then Yeyasu strikes from behind to smash the magic box. Everyone returns to normal and is left wondering what just happened. Grosso, Garugun, and Rainier show up as security guards to help escort Lanzarote off the stage. "This... isn’t over, Laharl. You may have won today, but you’ll regret underestimating me," Lanzarote said as she was being kicked out. Laharl cautions her that this is the third and last time she will have to deal with her. Everyone in the crowd gets back to their seats. Main Hero B picks up the microphone and begins to speak.
“I announce this show is a safe space for all kinds of wild self-discovery! HYAH! Now on to the show!” said Main Hero B.
Laharl grabs the mic as the audience goes wild. Axel is jamming on his guitar, Main Hero B is on the drums, and Yeyasu is absolutely nailing it with his shakuhachi. As Laharl is singing, Yeyasu thinks to himself, "Her voice is incredibly powerful... so full of conflict... so dramatic, I’m totally in LOVE!!" Everyone screams for joy while Laharl signs for the audience. "Wow! It feels incredible to have everyone cheering for me! I really wish I had done this a lot earlier!" Laharl said to herself. People can be spotted tossing roses at Laharl to show their appreciation. "Big sis is absolutely nailing it," Sicily observes from backstage. "It fills my heart with joy every day to see Laharl being their authentic self," Flonne remarked. The internal dysphoria within Laharl's mind manifests as the voice of Shadow Laharl, proclaiming, "You will never be 'one of them.' You are not a genuine girl. Merely... confused." In response, Laharl instructs the voices in her head to be quiet while she continues to perform on stage.
After many hours, the concert finally comes to an end. Hoggmeister gives a shoutout to everyone for the great show, especially since he made a ton of money tonight. Laharl reminded Hoggmeister that she still holds a significant portion of the sales, and "don’t say anything otherwise unless you want to be turned to ashes," Laharl warned. Sicily, Etna, Flonne, and the others joined in, expressing that they too had a wonderful time today. "You performed excellently today, big sister," remarked Scily.
“Hey Laharl, wanna come with us to visit Hades? There's a ton of full-body boiling and roasting tours to enjoy. I really get a kick out of my fair share of sadism, ho~!” said Main Hero B
"Um... I’m fine, thanks," Laharl said, feeling a little creeped out. Etna asked if he had any special kinks, and Axel stated that Main Hero B has always been a masochist, which is just part of his charming personality. "I can't believe that angel boy isn't a demon," Laharl thought to herself. "Come on, Axel and Yeyasu! We can't afford to be late!" Main Hero B exclaimed as he, Axel, and Yeyasu headed out. Laharl, Etna, Flonne, Sicily, Jane, and Thursday head back to the castle as their next adventure awaits.

Chapter 9: Laharl’s Birthday Bash
Summary:
Laharl and the gang are feeling pretty bored with nothing happening until Sicily brings up that Laharl birthday is just around the corner. Now they are set to celebrate the greatest birthday ever for an overlord.
Chapter Text
It's just another day in the netherworld, where Laharl and the gang are bored. Laharl is chilling in her throne, going through TV channels, trying to find something entertaining. She's watching The Great Netherworld Bake Off, which shows a massive gothic tent set up in the center of a grim, fiery wasteland. An Imp host is seen speaking in a British accent, telling everyone today’s challenge is Death by Chocolate Cake. “Quite literally. If your cake doesn’t kill the judges, you fail,” said the host. "How do people enjoy this trash?" Laharl remarked while flipping to the next channel. "And now, here’s the latest episode of Murder in a Small Netherworld," the TV announced, but Laharl quickly switched the channel in search of something better to watch. "Today's feature on the Netherworld Classic Movie channel is 12 Angry Dark Assembly Members," the TV announced, but Laharl wasn't interested in an old black and white film, so she switched the channel again. A commercial popped up: "Caught summoning without a permit? Trapped in a contract with Maderas? About to blow up, dood? Better Call Dood! Tonight at 10 PM" Laharl sighed, having already seen this show, feeling frustrated with the lack of options to watch. Laharl was flipping through the TV channels when she came across an anime titled "Sailor Doom," featuring demonic magical girls who punish mortals "in the name of the Netherworld." "Ugh. This seems like something Flonne would love," Laharl remarked. Being bored to death, she switched off the TV and hurled the screen across the room.
Etna, Flonne, Sicily, Thursday, and Jane walk into the room to find out what’s happening. "I’m so bored out of my mind. "I have no idea what to do," Laharl exclaimed. "We’re feeling pretty bored as well. "I can’t come up with anything else to do," Etna replied. "We can’t run out of ideas! Our adventures need to continue," Flonne added. Jane mentioned that ever since she and Thursday arrived in the Netherworld, they have primarily been occupied with chores for Laharl, and they have only embarked on one significant adventure. "Surely we can find more places to explore," Jane remarked. "I'm still trying to understand the origin of my mysterious blue aura power-up from a month ago," she added, eager to learn more. "What if we opened a hotel? That would be so much fun!" Flonne suggested it, but Etna pointed out that the idea was already taken from a different Netherworld. Sicily pulls out her phone out of her pocket and sees a text message reminder. "Hey big sis, your birthday is tomorrow," Sicily said. "Oh wow, I totally forgot!" Laharl exclaimed. "Let’s make it the best birthday ever!" Jane asked how old Laharl would be turning. Laharl explained that they are 1313, considering how demons age differently and how time flows differently unlike in the human world. The gender transformation potion from Mao had aged their body into that of an adult, busty woman, as she noted. "So I guess that makes me 1335?" Laharl pointed out. "Even though Queen has a grown-up body, she has the mind of a child." Etna said, while Laharl sighed and rolled her eyes.
“I will make sure your party goes out as planned. Leave it to me,” said Flonne.
“... Why do I suddenly feel like something bad is about to happen?” Laharl said, looking really frustrated. "Don't stress about it. Let's just enjoy a fun day tomorrow," Sicily replied. "Beep beep blip beep...downloading the ultimate cake ingredients for Laharl," Thursday said, with her eyes glowing as she pulled in data from the worldwide netherworld web. Laharl knows he can count on Thursday for cooking. “Come on, big sister, let’s go out and get ready for tomorrow. We can buy some snacks or any other goodies!” said Sicily as Laharl smiled, with them both walking out of the door together holding hands.
"Ever notice how much Laharl has changed so much this year?" Flonne remarked. "Absolutely! It's kind of wild to witness Laharl being so in touch with their inner self and actually showing some kindness. It seems like just yesterday when Laharl couldn't stand being a woman or expressing any kind of empathy," Etna replied. "It's like she's becoming more like the king and queen over time. Krichevskoy was a demon who actually showed empathy, which is pretty uncommon for demons," Etna added. Jane mentioned that her parents used to talk about how much of a hothead Laharl was, always being so arrogant from the stories they shared when she was a kid. “Laharl’s ego is still larger than the entire universe. That hasn’t changed at all," Etna noted.
While at the Netherworld Mall, they head over to a food store to grab some food for tomorrow. Laharl loads up a shopping cart with a ton of junk food. "That should do it!" Laharl exclaimed. Sicily is thrilled to be spending time with her sister. She reminisces about when she first met Laharl and how she was not sure if Laharl would show any affection for her, yet Laharl would always make an effort to bring her joy. Now, she can genuinely feel a deep family love and appreciation between them that has grown over this year. "Hey Sicily, what are you daydreaming about?" Laharl asked. "Oh, nothing much. Do you have everything you need?" Sicily replied. Laharl mentioned that they have all the food they need for the big day. "Oh, don’t think you can just shake this off so easily," the dysphoria in Laharl's mind chimed in. Laharl shook her head and continued to ignore it.
“Before the mall closed. I got you something to wear for tomorrow,” said Sicily.
Laharl is curious to see what Sicily has chosen. They get to the clothing store, and Sicily pulls some clothes from a bag. "I thought this would be perfect for your party. It gets a bit dull seeing you in that bra all the time," Sicily points out. She hands Laharl a dark, midnight-red satin bodice with delicate flame embroidery along the hem, paired with a puffy, layered skirt and some black shoes. Laharl heads into the changing room and tries on the outfit. At first, Laharl feels okay in it. But soon, a wave of dysphoria hits, making Laharl uncomfortable as they realize the clothes don’t look good on them in the mirror. Laharl quickly removes the outfit and changes back into her regular clothes. Sicily feels somewhat let down to find Laharl dressed in her usual attire, especially since Laharl had mentioned she didn’t like the clothes. "That's alright. We can discover other options later that suit your style of a fearful overlord," Sicily remarked. "I believe I'll stick with what I have for the time being," Laharl replied as they made their way back home.
When they return home, Laharl and Sicily enter into the throne room and find it sparkling clean, with a table all set for tomorrow's party. "I can't believe you guys, Flonne and the rest, managed to keep this place from being a total disaster," Laharl remarked. Just then, a group of Prinnies enters carrying a wooden box. "On Master Etna's orders, we made you a perfect ice sculpture, dood!" the Prinnies announced.
"Let’s see what you losers have created," Laharl said.
As the Prinnies unveil the box, they reveal an ice sculpture resembling her. But there's just one problem: water is dripping from her crotch on the sculpture. "YOU IDIOTS!!!" Laharl yelled in frustration. Jane bursts out laughing, "Don’t blame this on me. I made sure it was 100% to your liking," Etna replied. "I’m having serious déjà vu here," Flonne said, recalling the last time the Prinnies made a special Laharl statue with a fountain installed inside of it. Laharl smashes the ice sculpture and tells the Prinnies to start all over again, telling them this time with no bedtime as they make sure it is 100% done correctly. “Yes, ma’am, dood!” said a random Prinny as they ran out of the door. Thursday walks to Laharl and pulls out a big cake that is chocolate with white icing.
"Beep beep blip beep… I made this cake for you. Do a taste test, please," said Thursday.
Laharl pinches a bit of the cake with her finger to give it a taste. To her surprise, it’s delicious. "Once again, this bucket of bolts knows how to whip up some great food," Laharl remarked. Thursday's eyes light up, and she asks Laharl for a hug. Laharl shoves her aside, declaring that she will never give her a hug. "I wouldn’t let you hug me even if you were the last person in the whole universe," Laharl emphasizes. "Come on, Laharl, you’re hurting Thursday’s feelings. "Robots need love too," Flonne interjects. "It’s a machine. It can’t feel anything," Laharl retorts. Jane starts to get a bit annoyed by Laharl. "Look, I know you’re not a fan of her hugging you, but you should cut her some slack since she’s been working hard to clean this place and bake a cake just for you," she says. Sicily tells everyone that maybe we should go to bed soon, as we have a big day tomorrow. Laharl agrees and tells everyone to go to their rooms for the rest of the night.
The next day, it’s now Laharl's birthday. In the throne room, there's a huge golden table filled with lots of food and drinks, plus an ice sculpture that definitely doesn’t look like it’s urinating. Laharl is sitting on her throne, sporting a cheerful smirk. "This better be an amazing birthday," she mutters to herself. We also see Etna, Flonne, Sicily, Jane, Thursday, Grosso, Garugun, Barbara, Rainier, and Hoggmeiser in the throne room greeting guests. Thursday's eyes start to light up as she exclaims, "BIRTHDAY PROTOCOL ACTIVATED. INITIATING FESTIVE MODE." "Are your parents coming over?" Flonne asked Jane, but Jane replied that they are too busy to come, though they did send Laharl a virtual greeting card in the mail. Laharl told the others to make sure people who are not invited don’t come in, hoping someone like Lanzarote or other people don't crash the party. Porkmeister, the son of Hoggmeiser, enters and presents Laharl with an apple pie as a gift. "My dad asked me to come here. I'm still your vassal, right? I still intend to become the overlord when you retire or pass away," Porkmeister said. "Yeah, whatever. Just set the food on the table," Laharl replied. The group of prinnies walk into the room as Etna tells Laharl that they have a birthday gift for her.
“We made this for you, dood. “Please accept this gift for the lovely Queen dood,” said the Prinnies.
The Prinnies give Laharl a picture of her that was made with macaroni art. She smirks, "Hmph… fine. This is acceptable," Laharl said. "Usually, you'd be yelling at the Prinnies for handing out something that doesn't meet your standards," Etna remarked. Laharl points out that they're being extra generous since it's her birthday. “It’s amazing how Laharl is open to love more and more! It’s so wonderful that I want to cry with tears of joy,” said Flonne. “No comment,” said Laharl, who still feels a bit embarrassed in front of everyone. Mao arrives at the party, and Laharl questions why he's there since he wasn't invited. Etna snickered, "Oh, I might have slipped and sent him an invitation... I figured it would annoy you, hehe."
"Don't sweat it. I brought you a fog machine that runs on gender envy," Mao replied. Laharl is confused and asks why she would want something like that. "You can never know if you will ever come in handy. Now, make sure to give me some credit for where you are at in your gender journey," Mao said. Laharl, looking annoyed, kicks him out through the window. "Are there any other uninvited guests?" Laharl shouted. During the rest of the party, we see Laharl, Flonne, Etna, Sicily, Thursday, Jane, Grosso, Garugun, Barbara, Rainier, Porkmeister, and various other demons enjoying food at the table. Axel, Main Hero B, Yeyasu, and a pink Slumber Cat stroll through the door.
They were invited as a thank you for helping defeating Lanzarote last time. The four take a seat. "The Axel squad really appreciates the invite. We’ve all brought gifts for Madame Laharl," Axel said. "It’s nice to meet you guys. I’m so happy to be here with everyone. "Meow," the Slumber Cat chimed in. "Did anyone else notice that cat sounds just like Flonne?" Jane remarked. Flonne then explains to her that they don’t sound alike at all. Axel is eager for Laharl to unwrap the gifts they got for her, beginning with his own present. Axel gives Laharl a photograph.
“MY gift is… a signed photo of ME! You can put it on your wall, so you’ll never forget how awesome I am!” said Axel
Laharl looks super embarrassed. "Ugh. Why do I already regret inviting you?" Laharl said.
Main Hero B gives Laharl a whip, saying, "I thought we could have some fun together later. Hehe~ ♥" Main Hero B blushes and bends his left wrist playfully. Laharl, feeling awkward, responds, "No, thanks."
Yeyasu hands Laharl a rose, saying, "Sweet Laharl, here’s a rose just for you. Now, how about a kissy kissy?" Laharl's face turns bright red with anger, and he punches Yeyasu right in the face, sending him flying across the room and crashing into the wall. Yeyasu's eyes are swirling with hexagon-shaped spirals, and he has a huge bump on his head; he is completely knocked out. "Is he going to be okay?" Jane asked. Laharl points out that if she wanted to kill him, she would have already done it. The Slumber Cat hands Laharl a box and starts to open it. Inside, she finds a katana. "Please take this katana, meow," the Slumber Cat said. Laharl, smirking, replied, "Uh… thanks. It’s actually pretty…cool." "At least you got something you like from them," Sicily chimed in. As Laharl begins to open more gifts, a mysterious voice can be heard.
“How could you not invite your rival to your birthday party? Hahaha!!” said the mysterious voice.
A gusty cloud forms as Mid-Boss steps out. "Oh, it's you," Laharl said. "It's been a long time, my rival!" Mid-Boss replied. Jane inquired about his identity, while Mid-Boss recognized some individuals he had never met before. "You don't know me? You've definitely heard my name!" exclaimed Mid-Boss. "I'm The Dark Adonis—" but before he could finish, Laharl interrupted, "Yo! Shut up, Mid-Boss." Mid-Boss looks embarrassed, "You call moi Mi-Mid-Boss again...!" Shame on you." Laharl points out that he hasn't changed at all since they last met years ago. Jane says the name Mid-Boss sounds familiar because her parents told her the story of him trying to steal a picnic basket.
“Parents? Picnic Basket? You mean those humans that called themselves Defenders of Earth?” said Mid-Boss,
“Correct. I’m the daughter of Gordon and Jennifer! You appear to be lamer than I thought!” said Jane,
Mid-Boss felt annoyed upon hearing her remark. "Beep beep… Memories of Mid-Boss intact," Thursday stated. "Oh, you're that robot from before. It seems you've had a delightful makeover," Mid-Boss remarked. Laharl wonders whether he is taken aback by her new identity, but Mid-Boss is fully aware since she has practically broadcasted their gender transition everywhere. At this point, it's nearly impossible not to be aware of it. Sicily welcomes Mid-Boss, saying it's great to finally meet him. Mid-Boss feels a sense of familiarity with Sicily. Laharl questions why he is here, since he was never invited to the party. "You see, I know every passage in the Overlord's Castle. I can come and go whenever I please. Sometimes I drop by for a midnight snack," Mid-Boss replied. "So it was you who eats my ice cream at night, not the Prinnies," Enta chimed in.
"So, how do you even know the way to the castle?" Laharl inquired.
"Well, to tell the truth, I’m your—" said Mid-Boss.
Just before Mid-Boss could reveal his true name, Laharl requested that he leave while instructing Grosso, Garugun, Barbara, and Rainier to escort him out through the door. "There's no need for that. "I'm just here for a friendly visit since it's been ages since we last met," said Mid-Boss. As he exits through the door, Mid-Boss secretly places a gift wrapped in red paper under the table. "Well, that was simple. At least we didn't have to fight him," Flonne remarked. "Let's return to the party!" Laharl exclaimed loudly.
Laharl blows out her birthday candles, and everyone starts having a piece of the cake. “HAAHAHA! Now this is a proper Overlord birthday!!” said Laharl. A Prinny trips while holding cake slices, sending a huge wave of frosting flying at Laharl. Her face gets completely covered in icing, and she starts to fume. "Beep boop… Calculating probability of frosting-induced rage… 99.9%," Thursday remarked, her eyes starting to glow. "YOU'RE GOING TO PAY FOR THIS!" Laharl yells as she hurls the Prinny across the room, resulting in a big explosion. Etna and the rest of the party members are laughing uncontrollably at Laharl's cake-covered face, with her mumbling, "Sometimes I really hate you guys."
Flonne proposes a game where Laharl has to endure 30 minutes of her overly enthusiastic hugs. Laharl says, "No human, demon, robot... or angel... is going to squeeze me!" During the rest of the party, everyone eats food, and Laharl opens up more gifts. Laharl sent a steme gift card, as Sicily knows she likes to play video games. The next gift that Laharl unwraps is a spike-studded plush version of herself, which she finds amusing. Flonne gives Laharl’s gift and a magical girl outfit. Flonne wishes to do their own magical girl show together, inspired by Sailor Doom and Pure Hurt. Laharl thinks the idea is completely stupid and tosses the outfit right at Flonne's face. “I’m going to take that as a yes,” Flonne remarked.
As time passed, Laharl unwrapped the rest of her gifts, and everyone went back home later that night. "That was quite a memorable birthday. But next year, nobody better mess it up!" Laharl exclaimed. Etna tells the Prinnies to start cleaning up, as everyone else left a mess in the Throne Room. Thursday also helps clean up by throwing away all the garbage bags. Just before they call it a night, a Prinny stumbled upon a present wrapped in red paper sitting under the table. "Looks like you’ve got another gift, dood," the Prinny remarked. "Hey, the more gifts, the better," Laharl replied with a smirk.
Laharl unwraps the gift and finds a brown box inside. "What’s this? A box as a present? "What a joke," Laharl exclaimed. Just as she was about to toss it aside, the box popped open. She looked inside and discovered a key along with a note. The note read,
"Dear Laharl.
If you receive this gift, head to your bedroom, press the floor at the very end of your room on the left side, and use the key there.
From _____"
Laharl has no clue who sent this gift, but she decided to head to his bedroom while everyone else stayed where they were. Laharl goes to her room and looks for the hidden passage that was in the room. She goes to the very end room on the left side and presses the floor. A small door with a keyhole appears, and Laharl opens the door with the key and sees a wooden box inside. Laharl grabs the wooden box and opens it. Inside the box, there's a crayon drawing of Laharl, Krichevskoy, and Laharl's mom that she created when she was a little kid, labeled "Happy family." There's also some finger painting art signed by Laharl’s mom and Krichevskoy that says, "We love you, Laharl."
Laharl gazes at the childhood artwork silently with a smile on her face. Laharl also discovers a letter that says:
"Dear Laharl.
I kept these items stored away as a time capsule, hoping that one day you would appreciate them when you’re older. Showing the wonderful memories we've shared together. You were born with great strength, my child, but remember that true strength isn't just about power. It’s your heart as well. Never be embarrassed by your feelings. I believe you will one day become an overlord, and that’s what fills me with joy. I can’t wait to see you grow up and watch you become a noble demon. Here are my clothes. They might not seem like much, but I want you to have them to remember me. If you wear them, hold onto them, or pass them down to your soon-to-be-born sister, please remember that I am always watching over you. Please, treasure any future friendships you create. And always remember that I love you, with all my heart, forever.
With everlasting love,
Your Mother, Queen of the Netherworld."
Laharl feels an emotion that they haven’t in years. She started to cry, but not just a simple tear shed, but full-on crying. "I miss you… Mom," she said to herself. Quickly, she wipes her tears away, as if trying to maintain her stubborn attitude. Then, Laharl puts on her mother's clothes, evoking a sense of nostalgia and euphoria. For the first time in years, Laharl feels the weight of her mother’s presence return, warming her in a way nothing else would. Laharl walks to her coffin and holds the letter to her chest as she cherishes it as she begins to fall asleep. Meanwhile, Sicily was watching behind the door the entire time. Not saying a single thing, respecting Laharl’s privacy as she closed the door and headed off to bed.

Chapter 10 - Family Reunion
Author NOTE: Sorry for the long wait between the last chapter and now. My life got super busy when I started my new semester at my university. So I hope this chapter will be worth it. Also content warning for mention of self harm. Enjoy!
A day has passed since Laharl’s big birthday, the prinnies are cleaning up the mess that was left over by the party. Everyone left a huge mess all over the place, with trash all over the castle. Thursday is seen taking out the trash while Jane, Flonne, and Sicily are sweeping up the floors. Meanwhile, Etna is seen playing games on her phone. “Etna, why aren’t you cleaning up anything?”, Flonne asked. “I don’t want to get my hands dirty. The queen is still in her room, so I’m in charge of now,” Etna replied.
“Hey, that’s not fair! Laharl never told you to be in charge of things,” said Flonne.
Just before Etna gets frustrated; Sicily stops them from possibly fighting. “Instead of fighting, let’s try to keep things nice and clean before big sis arrives,” said Sicily. Jane just hopes that they will go on another action pack adventure, meanwhile Flonne was another slice of life theme adventure. “It’s more relaxing and fun to have episodes that don't tie into the main story,” Flonne mentioned. “But I still need to figure out about my mysterious power. It would be so dumb that we just ignore this like it is nothing,” Jane replied. While those two were talking, Laharl walks into the throne room in her usual outfit. “This place is still a mess. I thought it would be cleaned up by now” said Laharl.
“Good, late afternoon, Laharl. While you were sleeping in, we spent the last 8–10 hours cleaning up. Maybe we would have been done sooner if you woke up earlier,” said Etna. Laharl becomes angry and tells Etna to watch her mouth while she tries to explain why she overslept. “I just forgot to set my alarm. That’s really it,” Laharl said. Etna, clearly annoyed, doesn't buy it and just goes, "Yeah…sure,". Laharl slept in because she felt so relaxed after finding her mother’s clothes and wearing them to bed. To reconnect with the memories of her mother, who passed away many years ago. Thursday walks through the door and is informed that they cleaned up the rest of the castle.
“Beep…cleaning duties for Overlord Laharl” said Thursday,
Laharl smirks and tells Thursday that she did a good job. Asking her to make her some lunch, and Thursday rush to the kitchen with her eyes lit up with joy to make Laharl some food. “Hey Laharl, can we do some training again, please? I’m ready for some action and serious training,” said Jane. Flonne bursts in and wants another episodic slice of life adventure. Just before the two can argue, Laharl promises that they can do both. The two jump for joy, as if it’s not every day that Laharl lets them do what they want.
“Yes! I have been waiting forever to have some action.” said Jane,
Laharl asks Jane to come with her back to Laharl’s underground training room. Inside the underground training room, Laharl tells Jane that she has some opponents' plans for her to fight. A young boy with long pink hair, pink eyes and wearing a circular yellow earring affixed with a cross shape enters the room. Jane is confused if her opponent is a child or not? Laharl explains that this is Aramis, who has a powerful pet zombie. Aramis shouts, “Come over here!”, and a golden zombie bursts through the door, shattering it into bits.
“This is my pet Zombie. Overlord Laharl fought against it over 20 years ago and is now even stronger. I updated them with the IQ of 8001, the body of Zesus, and not just one-horse wiener, ...but two horse wieners!” said Aramis
Laharl is shocked to hear that, to hear that they have two dangerous weapons. “Are you sure about this? One is bad enough, but two!” said Laharl. Aramis tells Laharl that they have things under control. Jane is confused why a “horse wiener” is such a dangerous thing, but she just goes with it. The golden zombie rushes to Jane and vomits blue vomit at her, but she was lucky to dodge it. The smell of the vomit is awful, almost making it hard to concentrate during the fight. Jane jumps into the air and kicks the golden zombie in the head, but the attack did no damage. The golden zombie grabs her by the arm and drags Jane across the ground like a rag doll. Then, the golden zombie starts to spin around like a tornado and charges at Jane. She quickly gets up and dodges just in the nick of time. Jane powers up and throws a series of fast punches towards the golden zombie, knocking it back a bit.
Laharl is impressed by how strong this zombie is, and that Aramis was able to create a zombie that even surpasses the Krichevskoy group in terms of power. “She is doing better than I thought. I have never seen a human keep up with a demon with such raw power” said Laharl. The golden zombie charges a powerful green energy beam and fires it directly at Jane. She dodged it by swiftly rolling under the attack as the beam struck the wall. A massive hole in the wall, making the whole castle tremble for a moment. Jane powers up and fires an arrow made out of energy at the golden zombie. However, this attack was proven to be useless as it didn’t leave a single mark on it. Etna, Flonne, Sicily, and Thursday come downstairs to see what is going on after they feel the castle shaking. Laharl explains that Jane is just fighting a zombie from Aramis. Etna still remembers him as the kid that they helped look for his pet many years ago.
The golden zombie goes into a rampage and fires more powerful energy beams across the room. “Maybe you stop this before the whole castle collapses on us” said Sicily, but Laharl knows what she is doing. Telling Sicily not to worry about it. Jane’s body begins to glow with the mysterious blue aura and directly runs towards the golden zombie. She quickly throws a combo of punches and kicks, sending the golden zombie crashing into the wall. This knocks out the golden zombie. Jane's blue aura fades away, and Jane passes out from exhaustion. Thursday quickly uses her medical kit that she has installed inside of her and heals Jane. Jane gets up and notices that she has won. Laharl points out that she can access this powerful ability during an extremely stressful and possible life-ending moment in battle.
“It seems to be a temporary power boost. It’s not like anything that I have seen in any human, demon or angel. Could it be related to your family?”, Laharl asked,
“The thing is that I never noticed that I had this ability until I arrived here with you guys. My mom has special powers too with the cosmic arrow attack, but this is different. This ability happens when my mind and body senses danger. Maybe the Netherworld can affect the human body? We need some answers” said Jane
Laharl doesn’t think so as Gordon and Jennifer never unlock any powers during their time in the Netherworld. Flonne believes that Lamington may know something, given his mass knowledge of the universe. “Yeah, but not like we go to Celestia anytime, or call the Seraph on the phone for a chit-chat” as Laharl pointed out.
“We should be on good terms with Master Lamington. Having us visit Celestia should not be an issue” said Sicily,
Laharl doesn’t feel like going on a long trip and decides that we can visit there another time. Just before she can say another word, her stomach begins to growl as she never got the chance to eat today and asks Thursday if she ever made her lunch. Thursday grabs a lunch box with a peanut butter sandwich and a bottle of soda to Laharl. She quickly eats the sandwich and chugs her soda. "Wow, that was a good sandwich. You've shown you're a great cook again, Thursday," Laharl said.
Thursday asks for a hug, and Laharl yells “NO!”. Thursday starts to feel upset, making sad robot sounds after Laharl yelled at her. Flonne walks over to Thursday and gives her a hug. “It’s okay Thursday. I’m glad that robots can feel love just like everyone else” said Flonne. Thursday’s eyes light up with joy after being hugged. “Why are you still harsh towards her? It’s getting really annoying,” Jane asked
“Look, I don’t like hugs that much. I like my own space for once” said Laharl
Sicily points out that she lets Laharl hug her, or she lets us hug her at the clothing store. “That was a one time thing!” said Laharl. Flonne asks when they are going to go out and have some fun, as Laharl promises them a nice slice of life adventure. Laharl has no idea on what they should do for fun today. Sicily thinks that we should go on a fishing trip, as it would be something fun and different. Laharl decides to go with the ideas as she could not think of anything else to go. “Alright guys, let's grab our bags and go to the Blair Forest. They have a nice lake that we can use” said Laharl. They quickly headed out and arrived at the Blair Forest. The Blair Forest is an ominous forest with a red haze giving it an otherworldly atmosphere. Laharl and the others found a nice spot near a lake to sit down and chill. Thursday opens the fish bait box, and everyone starts attaching their bait on the hook. Laharl starts first by luring her fishing rod into the water, hoping to get a bite. “Don’t enjoy your fun time so easily. You are not valid and will never be” said the voice inside Laharl’s head
Laharl pretends to ignore the dysphoric voice in her head that is not there and continues to have fun with everyone. Sicily noticed that Laharl was bothered by something and could tell something was off. Floone felt something big and heavy as she pulls in something huge of out of the water. It was a Serpent, a shark dragon-like demon that tried to attack Flonne. Laharl steps in and knocks back in the water with a single punch. Thursday scans the water to detect any more threats and finds that a wave of serpents is heading towards them. Fifteen more of them pop out of the water and begin to attack the cast. Laharl, and the crew, begin to fight each serpent one by one. Etna jumps in the air and creates a giant gravitational explosion by falling from the sky directly at the serpents. Flonne fires some holy arrows, and Sicily calls upon a horde of prinnies to take care of the rest. Just before they can go back to their fishing trip, a giant serpent that is 20 feet tall walks out of the water.
“You managed to defeat my offspring pretty well. Now, I’m the real deal! Nobody is allowed at my lake! I’m going to kill and eat you all,” said the Giant Serpent,
“Can’t I have some fun with my sister and vassals without annoying crap getting in my way? Let me handle this! This shark is going to be nice fish food for all of us,” said Laharl
Just before Laharl can fight, a mysterious man with a brown hoodie, torn up pants and shoes arrive out of the bushes. “Leave this to me!” said the mysterious man. Laharl gets mad and questions who this random person is just barging in. The Giant Serpent charges at the mysterious guy right before he unleashes a sphere of darkness aimed straight at the Giant Serpent. The strike takes out the Giant Serpent in one hit, leaving it as a charred corpse. The mysterious man looks at Etna for a brief moment just before walking away. Etna is confused why he was looking at her and gets a familiar feeling that the two have met before. “At least, we had enough to eat for dinner tonight,” said Sicily. Laharl grabs the corpse and takes it back to the castle for dinner. Fast-forward to the evening, Laharl and everyone were enjoying their dinner.
“I don’t know who that person was, but at least they did us a huge favor for not having to cook this thing,” said Jane
While Laharl was enjoying her food, a voice could be heard in her head again. She shakes her head and continues eating. Sicily asked what was wrong, and Laharl said it was nothing. After dinner was over, everyone headed to their rooms for the night. Sicily, ask Laharl if she can talk about something in another room. Laharl says sure and asks what is up?
“I feel like there is someone or something on your mind,” said Sicily,
“Oh, that.” I still get these annoying dysphoric voices in my head. Not only that, but I don’t know why they won’t go away. I listened to my heart and became the person that I was scared to be. Now, my mind wants me to go back! I like who I am and don’t want people to tell me otherwise,” said Laharl.
Sicily is worried about this and recommends Laharl to seek some help as nothing has changed over the past month. However, Laharl believes that it is better for her just to keep on ignoring her dysphoria for the time being, as if it’s not there. Sicily disagrees and feels like this is a bad idea. “You still act stubborn around other people when it comes to love. I can tell you changed a lot during this year when it comes to your personality.” as Sicily pointed.
Laharl takes a deep breath and admits that they are used to being a tough guy around other people to keep their powerful overlord image. And that being emotional around others is still something that they haven’t gotten used to. “Well, dad was a powerful and respected overlord with feelings. There is no reason why you can’t be more open about yourself. You have even shown love at your birthday party,” said Sicily. Laharl still shows disdain towards her dad, Krichevskoy, as she felt like her dad failed to save her mom when she was young. “Dad sucked and was not a good overlord. I want nothing to do with him” Laharl replied. Sicily also pointed out that she saw Laharl last night with her mother’s clothes and was crying.
“Mom left a time capsule box for me to find when I became older.” It felt comfortable for the first time in years when finding her clothes. It was like she was there with me all over again,” said Laharl
“I find it sweet that you can reconnect with mom somehow. I still wish I saw her when she was alive,” said Sicily. She gives Laharl a hug, and Laharl smiles. Laharl feels a feeling of warmth and glow of euphoria as she feels her sister hugging her tight. She tells Sicily good night, and Laharl heads off to bed. The following day, Laharl and the others were in her throne room discussing what to do for today. Grosso walks into the throne room and tells Laharl that someone is waiting for them outside the castle gate. Laharl wonders who it is, and they go to the castle gate to meet the mysterious stranger from yesterday. “Who are you and how did you find the Overlord’s castle?” Laharl asked. “I came here as I still had one wish from the Overlord” said the mysterious man as he removed his hoodie. When taking off his hoodie, we see a tall man (5 '8 ft) with long red hair, a shaggy looking beard with a large chest scar, wearing a brown baggy toga-like top with torn up pants and shoes. “Hello everyone. It’s been a long time. It is me, Xenolith” right after relieving himself.
Everyone is surprised to see Xenolith. While Etna and Laharl were waiting for his return one day, they didn't think it would happen out of the blue. “Brother…how?” said Etna out loud. Xenolith notices things have changed since he was last here as he notices Laharl as a girl, and both Jane, and Thursday.
“Is that woman over there, Laharl? Much has changed in my absence” said Xenolith
“Yes, I’m Laharl. I’m now the Queen of this Netherworld. What brings you here?” said Laharl
Xenolith explains that he wishes to see Etna again after being gone for so long, and to be together as siblings. Etna is annoyed that he has been gone for so long without telling her that he was still alive. “Please tell me what happened?” said Etna. We get a flashback showing Etna standing at the castle's front entrance at the end of Disgaea D2, waiting for Xenolith’s return after being sucked into the pillars of the ground. “You finally made it back... Don't worry. I'll talk to the prince and get him to pardon you for all the stuff you pulled. He said that he will grant you one wish,” Etna said. Xenolith looks nervous, feeling not welcome.
"I’m sorry…. I can’t!" said Xenolith
Xenolith, fleeing from Etna, shouts, "Big brother, wait! Come back!!". Back to the president day at the front of the castle entrance. “Stupid Big Brother. Why return now and not stay with us back then?” Etna asked. Jane is shocked to hear the name “Xenolith” as she begins to prepare for battle.
“Isn’t this the same guy that kidnaps angels and tries to suck the life out of the Netherworld? You guys mentioned him when you came to Earth. Thursday and I can handle him if you’d like” said Jane
Xenolith assures everyone that he means no harm. He wants everyone to pay attention as he takes a deep breath and lets out a sigh before he begins to explain why he's back.
“Throughout the years, I have resided in Agul Eviland in solitude, haunted by what I did with the Artifact of Absolute Death. I feel so guilty about my actions that I've even thought about ending my own life. I've spent years battling the darkness within me, and now I’m finally free from my own sins. This is the reason I fled after you extended an invitation for me to enter the Castle back then,” said Xenolith,
Etna sighs after hearing Xenolith’s explanation. “I’m still mad after you ran off after all those years with no contact. But, you still return nonetheless, and you still must do what I say” said Etna. Xenolith nods his head as a way of agreeing. “Anything for you, sister. My wish from the Overlord is to be forgiven and keep Etna happy” as Xenolith replied.
“If you really changed that much since last time, you have been pardoned. You’re Etna’s vassal, and her vassals are my vassals.” said Laharl
“Understood,” said Xenolith as he nodded his head to Laharl. “You look like a mess. We should clean up and make you brand new” as Etna notices how her big brother looks. “I think Mr. Xenolith would want something to eat after living in the wild for so long” as Flonne pointed out. Laharl, Xenolith, and the others head inside for breakfast. Etna asks the prinnies to give Xenolith a haircut, shave, and a nice shower, which Xenolith agrees too. At the kitchen table, Thursday begins to cook some miso soup and rice porridge for breakfast. Xenolith enters the room looking nice and clean, wearing his black outfit that he had in Disgaea D2. “How did you know that we were at The Blair Forest?” Laharl asked as Xenolith began to sit down at the table.
“I like to travel across the Netherworld, looking for new places to see and explore. I keep my identity hidden to avoid other demons remembering me. Oddly enough, I just happened to bump into you guys as I noticed Etna. It felt like it was my time to reconnect with her again,” said Xenolith. He starts ending his breakfast as if he never had a meal in a century by devouring his food like it was nothing. “Beep beep blip beep…. I will make more food for Xenolith” said Thursday as she prepares for more food.
“May I ask who the machine and the young human woman are over there?” Xenolith asked. Jane tells Xenolith that she is a Defender of Earth trainee and that robot over there is Thursday. Who is Jane’s sidekick and sister. “That’s interesting. I don’t think I've ever met anyone from Earth before” Xenolith replied. As Thursday was busy preparing more food, Etna wondered what Xenolith has been doing in Agul Eviland for such a long time. "That's a good question," Xenolith said as he started to explain.
“Agul Eviland is a special place for me. The aftermath of the Artifact of Absolute Death put me in a dark spiral, and I could not let my darkness consume me. I have been learning meditation as a way to battle the evil within me. Living the life of a nomad and traveling other places also allow me to appreciate the beauty of life,” said Xenolith
Flonne finds Xenolith’s story to be incredible as he is able to find love in himself and the world around him. Thursday puts more food down on the table as Xenolith begins to eat the rest of his breakfast. Sicily asks Etna and Xenolith if they still remember their mom and dad, but the two of them remember that their parents abandoned them at a young age and never saw them again, as most demons usually don’t care about their children. Jane finds that sad to hear, as the idea of being alone as kids must be hard. “Eh, it was a long time ago. No need to cry over spilled milk” Etna replied. After they finished eating breakfast, Sicily suggests the idea of going to a movie as it would be a fun activity to do together. Laharl is open to the idea as she always enjoys a good motion picture. “Hopefully, there is an ultra-violent movie that is playing to suit my needs as an overlord,” Laharl added.
Flonne wants to see “Love and Light Eternal” as it’s a movie from Celestial of a love story between an angel and a demon who keep reincarnating in a time loop. “Ugh, those Celestial movies are so pretentious with how artsy fartsy they are,” said Etna. When Sicily is looking at her phone for movies to watch, she points out that the new reboot of Planet of the Prinnies is out. Jane points out that her dad Gordon started in the original Planet of the Prinnies during his early days of Defender of the Earth. “Bep boop…. Found a perfect movie for our overlord… The Human World Chainsaw Massacre 8, now playing in 4D” said Thursday as her eyes begin to glow. Laharl gets excited to see such a violent and gory movie on the big screen. Sicily doesn’t like these types of movies, but Laharl tells her to keep her eyes closed during the scary bits. Xenolith feels a bit nervous, as he is not used to being around large groups of people after living in isolation for so long. Etna tells her big brother just to relax as everything is just fine. “I do want to challenge Xenolith to fight soon, as I want to see how powerful he is,” said Jane. Laharl explains that she is not ready for a final boss level opponent. “I wish not to fight anyone. I just want peace and quiet with my sister and I,” said Xenolith. “Come on, let’s go already” as Laharl tells everyone to start moving.
Laharl and the others arrived at the movie theater. At the movie theater, you see marquee listings for other movies playing such “Kingdom of the Planet of the Prinnies", “Confessions of a Teenage Fallen Angel”, “The Dark Hero Rises”, “Sin-ners, Dood!”, “It’s a Wonderful Afterlife”, “Gone in the Fire”, and “Demon Day Afternoon”.
Inside the movie theater, we see a large crowd of demons sitting down eating some popcorn waiting for the movie to start. Laharl and Sicily sit next to each other in the middle row while Etna, Xenolith, Thursday, Jane, and Flonne sit in the back row. The Human World Chainsaw Massacre 8 begins with a demon wearing a brown bag over his face cutting through the screen with a 3D effect. Sicily covers her eyes while Laharl is enjoying the show. Flonne finds these movies gross, as there is no love to be found. 30 minutes into the movie, we see the Chainsaw Demon chasing down a group of humans as they scream in pain. Xenolith looks nervous being around a large group of people. Giving him such social anxiety as he has never been around so many people before, and the trauma that he had when he was attacked by other demons as a child. Xenolith runs out the door as Etna has noticed that he ran off as she runs to go find him.
Xenolith is seen in the lobby room taking deep breaths after having a panic attack. Etna walks behind Xenolith and asks what is wrong. “I just feel nervous being around so many people. I have never been in a large group of people and I can’t socialize well with others,” said Xenolith. Etna smiles and tells Xenoliths that they can find somewhere peaceful to hang out in the meantime. Xenolith asks if it is a good idea to leave Laharl and the others behind. Etna is not too worried as they can catch up with them later. Etna and Xenolith arrived at The Blair Forest sitting next to the lake yesterday as they enjoyed the beautiful sun and the quiet atmosphere.
“This is great. Nothing, but peace and quiet.” said Xenolith as he began to sit down on the ground. Etna picks up a rock and decides to play a game. “Let's throw some rocks in the water and see who gets farther. If you win, you can pick out the place for lunch. If I win, you must dress like a prinny for the rest of the day,” said Etna. Xenolith accepts Etna’s challenge as they begin to throw rocks across the lake. Xenolith starts first and throws it pretty far. “Not bad, big bro,” said Etna. Etna picks up her rock and throws it, as the rock lands pretty close to the end of the lake.
“Impressive sis, now it's my turn again,” said Xenolith
Xenolith threw the rock across the lake and was able to reach the very end of the lake. “Looks like I win,” Xenolith said as he began to smile. “Wow, I’m impressed by your skills. What do you have in mind for food?” Etna asked. “There’s a cat café that I always wanted to check out. I do love cats after all,” Xenolith replied. Etna thinks that sounds like a fun idea as they wait for Laharl and the others to arrive. For the next hour, the two take a walk around the forest, doing some sightseeing. “You know, I haven’t felt…good. Maybe for the first time ever” as Xenolith is walking with Etna. As they are walking, Laharl and the others show up in the middle pathway. “Why did you two run off?” Laharl asked.
“Sorry, Overlord Laharl, I felt very nervous being in a room with so many people. Etna and I decided to go somewhere quiet,” said Xenolith
Etna asked how they were able to find them. Jane said that Thursday was able to find your footprints from the movie theater to here. Xenolith wants to go to the cat café for lunch, which the others are excited about. Laharl wasn’t interested as she is not a cat person but decided to go as she could not think of anywhere else to go for food. They arrived at the cat café which is a small building with warm fuzzy chairs, some bookshelves, and some candles on the wall giving a cozy vibe. You have multiple Slumber Cats in the café just sitting around and playing with yarn balls. Main Hero B walks up to Etna and the others as they pull out a pen and paper to take some orders as their waiter.
“Good afternoon. I will be taking your orders for lunch today. What does everyone else want?” said Main Hero B
“What are you doing here angel boy?” asked Laharl, “I do this job as a side hustle while I’m not with Axel or fooling around in Hades” Main Hero B replied. An orange slumber cat jumps on Xenolith’s lap and starts purring. “I think this one likes me,” said Xenolith. Flonne, Jane, Sicily, and Laharl ordered some grilled cheese sandwiches. “I want your biggest dessert” said Etna out loud, and Xenolith just wants a muffin for now. “Coming right up” said Main Hero B as he walked into the kitchen.
“Dessert? Seriously?! You get yourself a dessert before dinner time while we get normal lunch food?” said Laharl
“Oh please, Laharl. Everyone knows that I’m a sugar queen. Desserts and sweets make up 99% of my diet. They are for me and only me!” said Etna
Xenolith keeps on petting the cat, giving him major comfort as he smiles. “You sure love cats don’t you Xenolith” said Jane. Xenolith nods his head as a way of saying yes. Main Hero B arrives with everyone’s food and a giant ice cream sundae with rainbow sprinkles, pink ice cream, hot chocolate fudge, peanuts, whipped cream, and a big red cherry on top. Etna’s eyes open wide with joy as she begins to eat her ice cream. “Hey waiter, give me what Etna has, but even bigger,” said Laharl. Main Hero B walks back into the kitchen and Etna is starting to get annoyed. “Why do you want dessert now?” Etna asked. “I’m the overlord. If anyone is going to get a huge dessert, it should be me. I will eat the ultimate mega super dessert before you can” said Laharl as she smirks. “Oh really? Bring it on!” said Etna out loud as she chugs down her ice cream in a matter of seconds.
Main Hero B quickly puts the ultimate mega super dessert on the table. Looking just like Etna’s ice cream sundae, but now being 15 feet tall. Everyone in the café is impressed that someone finally ordered the most expensive item on the menu. Everyone gathers around as they watch Etna and Laharl try to see who can finish the sundae. The two begin to eat the ice cream sundae with their spoons, taking a bite one at a time. Many hours later, the two are down to the last bit of ice cream in the bowl. Both battle it out with their spoons, trying to get the last piece. Just before they can eat it, they both pass out from overeating.
“What? It’s a tie?! I didn’t think that would be possible” said Sicily,
An Imp demon takes the ice cream bowl to the kitchen as Laharl and Etna begin to wake back up. “No one won as we failed to finish eating the ultimate mega super dessert,” said Laharl. Etna looks embarrassed that not even her sweet tooth was able to handle such a major food item. “We may have ended in a draw, but next time I will be the one to finish the ultimate mega super dessert,” said Etna as she smugs. Main Hero B walks to the table and gives Laharl the bill. She looks at the bill and is shocked at how expressive it is. “13 million HL!?! HOW?!” said Laharl yelling out loud. “You order the most expensive item on the menu. Normally that would be 25 million HL, but you get a friendly discount for being the overlord of this Netherworld” Main Hero B explains. Laharl decides to have no choice but to pay, as she grabs a check book from her pocket and writes the check. Main Hero B takes the check and wishes everyone a nice day as he walks back to the kitchen.
“You know, Laharl, usually you would never pay for meals, or we would just dine and dash after ordering a meal that is so expensive, but you covered the bill! You've really changed, and I think that's wonderful.” said Flonne
“I’m still the same me. Nothing has changed besides being a woman. Don’t fool yourself” said Laharl
Laharl tells everyone that they are going to help pay for this meal by doing chores in the castle for an entire week. “It was your stupid idea for ordering it in the first place” Etna mumbled to herself. They return to the castle as everyone begins to clean the throne room with their mops and brooms. Laharl is sitting on her throne watching everyone do their chores, looking amused. Suddenly, the dysphoric voice begins to laugh and Laharl starts to shake it off. Laharl starts to scream as her head starts to hurt. She rushes out of the throne room and heads to her bedroom. Sicily notices that her dysphoria is getting out of hand and explains the rest to everyone on what is going on. Flonne and Jane feel shocked by this, as they expect that Laharl had their feelings under control. Xenolith senses darkness in Laharl and asks where her bedroom is, as he believes that he can help. Sicily escorts Xenolith to Laharl’s room as he knocks on the door. Laharl asks who it is, and Xenolith tells her that it is him. “What do you want?” Laharl asked. “I can sense something is wrong, and your sister said that I should help. As someone who battled intrusive thoughts, I can understand what you are going through,” said Xenolith. Laharl opens the door, and Xenolith enters the room. Xenolith asks what is on her mind.
“I accepted my gender identity and no longer feel ashamed of having a busty body, but my mind is haunting me.” As if I made a mistake and wants me to return to a boy” said Laharl
“Interesting. You had those feelings bottled up for so long when you accepted yourself as a girl, the other half of your subconscious did not want that to happen. Your dysphoria wants to take things back as it was before, with darkness. Wanting you go back to a boy and making you feel awful” said Xenolith
Laharl asks what she can do? “I can help teach mindfulness techniques with meditation. But we need to go somewhere nice and quiet, as doing it here in the castle won’t work. It must be somewhere with little to no noise” Xenolith explains. “Come with Agul Eviland and I can show you were I go when doing meditation. This is how I battle my darkness,” said Xenolith. Both Laharl and Xenolith climb out of Laharl’s window as Laharl’s journey to defeat her dysphoria begins.
