Odysseus was in a lake, he sighs as he was washing his body, he groans as he sank down into the water, while he didn't like being in it due to what poseidon did, but he had to try to get over the fear, he was a king, he had to set an example for his son, who was happy to see him again and getting to know him.
Odysseus: wow, this feels nice.......
Hermes: it is.
Odysseus:'jumps and looks at hermes'
Hermes:'flies down and goes into the water across odysseus'sorry, didn't mean to scare you, but you looked so lonely so I thought you would want some company.
Odysseus: I'm fine Hermes.
Hermes: Are you sure that you're fine, you look pretty tired and I got worried you were drowning in the lake.
Odysseus: I'm not going to drown in a lake.
Hermes: you can never be too careful.
Odysseus: Poseidon isn't going to appear in the lake.
Hermes: But what if he does?
Odysseus: And what if you just get out of here?
Hermes: no.
Odysseus: hermes.
Hermes: what?
Odysseus: why are you here?
Hermes: what? Is it wrong for me to want to visit my great grandson after he's been on such a long journey? Not to mention that you killed so many people when you got home, even I have to admit that I got terrified saying that, and you stabbed poseidon.
Odysseus: I'm guessing he's still pissed about that.
Hermes: he is, but he's agreed to leave you alone.
Odysseus: he has?
Hermes: yes, he got in a lot of trouble with Zeus, and not to mention that he still needs to rest from all the wounds he got, so he can't really do anything at the moment, but he has agreed to leave you alone and not do anything to cause you or anyone you care about, any harm, so I think you should be good for now.
Odysseus: and what is that supposed to mean?
Hermes: I'm just saying that you need to keep an eye out for anything, it's important to be careful, odysseus.
Odysseus:........are you ok?
Hermes: Of course I'm ok, you don't need to worry about me.
Odysseus: hermes-
Hermes: I promise that I'm ok.
Odysseus:'looks at him and raises an eyebrow'you can be honest with me, i promise that i won't tell anyone.
Then Hermes' smile drops, he turns away and lays against a nearby rock, Odysseus frowns and looks at him.
Hermes: things have been so stressful lately, i have more work to do for having my great grandson stab my uncle, like, i didn't tell you to stab him, just not to open the windbag, if i did that, oh, the great zeus would have struck me, well, he already did that to me since everyone else was busy.
Then he throws his helmet off and it lands in the water.
Odysseus: hermes?
Then the messenger god turns to Odysseus, to reveal one eye was swollen shut, Odysseus' eyes widened.
Hermes: don't worry, it's not that bad.
Odysseus: hermes, it's swollen shut.
Hermes: I've had worse.
Odysseus: worse?
Hermes: ya, it's why I try to go as fast as possible, it's why i couldn't help you all the time, i still had utter Duty that I had to go to, i just couldn't risk making my father mad at me, you are family, but he's the king.......
Odysseus: you don't need to apologize.
Hermes: I still feel like I have to, because I always feel like I'm messing up, no matter what I do for everyone.
Odysseus: Is that why you smile all the time?
Hermes: Having one just makes me feel easy to talk to, It gets everyone an idea that I'm okay, But I also wish someone would notice it, They would notice how nervous I am, How I'm trying to keep myself together when I've been working for hours, I know we don't need sleep, it's not a requirement, But even I don't have that privilege.
Odysseus: Hermes, I'm so sorry........
Hermes: you don't need to say sorry........
Odysseus: I just feel like you deserve an apology.
Hermes: You don't need to be the one that doesn't for everyone else, and you should know that I'm used to this, I'm used to doing all of this crap.
Odysseus: that doesn't mean you need to do this alone.
Hermes: I've always done this alone, I'm the one that needs to deliver all of the messages, help the souls get to the underworld, I have a lot of responsibilities and that's because they are afraid of me, You remember my myth of what happened when I was born, right? I'm hoping you do.
Odysseus: Of course I remember.
Hermes: It's because I'm not like most of the other gods, my mom was also a goddess, while many of them had mortal mothers, or different species, mine was a goddess, so I'm not half a god, i'm a full God.
Odysseus: Is that why hera couldn't punish your mother?
Hermes: probably, She couldn't do that to another goddess unless there was a reason, And with my dad being the king of the gods.......
Odysseus: It could be seen as a royal order, And he's very powerful, And Mortals could only pray and hope they get help.
Hermes: exactly.
Odysseus: I see.......
Hermes:'stands up and looks at the sky'
Odysseus:'also stands up and looks at him'
Hermes: I should go...........
Odysseus: Are you sure?
Hermes: ya......you don't need to hear all of my problems.
Odysseus: I don't mind listening to you.
Hermes:'looks at him'
Odysseus: you're always welcomed, and I'm going to see if I can get an extra room for you, if you ever need to rest, or if you just need a moment to yourself, you can always go in there, it's what I can do for you for what you've done for me.
Then Hermes hugs Odysseus and bursts into tears.
Odysseus:'a bit surprised and hugs back'
Hermes:'holds onto odysseus as more tears streamed down his face'i hate that i have to do this......i hate this so much.......
Odysseus: I know Hermes, I know.......
Hermes: we should get some clothes on though........i know that this isn't a big deal, with being naked, but we can't stay like this forever, i'm not in the mood to stay like this forever, i have other stuff to do, like giving orders, and making sure that everything is ok, and that my son is safe.
Hermes: good point.
