Chapter Text
Golden Cheese x White Lily
White Lily hesitated in the hall, her hands shaking. It'd been so long since she last saw Golden Cheese and their daughter. The note in her hands was crumpled and ripped, words of her lost love smudged by tears.
White Lily,
It's been so long since we last spoke, I'd like for you to come by my new palace. It's much more durable than my old one, and more glittering than ever, but despite all my treasures, it feels emptier than ever. I'd like to make amends. Apologize for how our relationship ended, and maybe... even work our way up to being friends again.
Hopefully you'll come by, but I don't blame you if you don't.
Love Sincerely,
Golden Cheese.
She sighed and continued down the hall. She couldn't believe Golden Cheese wanted to make amends. After everything that happened, White Lily thought she hated her.
Finally, she reached Golden Cheese's throne room. Where she found her, like she always used to, sitting with her legs hanging off the edge of the throne, two cheesebirds fanning her with giant leaves.
"Goldie?" The nickname slipped out of White Lily's mouth naturally, without her even realising. Her eyes stung with tears at the sight of her. "I'm so sorry for everything. I-" She wiped her eyes. "I just wanted to help cookiekind. I never meant to create her."
"I know you didn't mean to, Lily. But you did, and I don't think I can forgive you for that." Golden Cheese stood up from her throne and approached her.
"I don't blame—"
Perfect brown hands cradled her face. "But I had no business acting the way I did. It was rather horrid of me." She sighed. "Besides, you're still one of my favourite treasures, even if you were the cause of so much destruction and even if you are engaged to Vanilla now."
"I called off the wedding, actually."
"What happened?"
"I just couldn't love someone who loves the old me."
Golden Cheese nodded. "I understand."
They stood in silence, their eyes locked. Finally, White Lily broke down. "I thought- I thought you hated me!" She cried, choking on her tears.
Golden Cheese knelt beside her, a hand resting on her back. "I could never hate you, Lily."
"Really?"
"No, never. Even after all these years, I still love you the same."
"I've missed you and Rich Cheese."
Golden Cheese looked at White Lily with despair when she mentioned Rich Cheese. She was wondering if she knew, but maybe she didn't. "I've missed you, as well."
"Has she missed me?" White Lily asked.
Golden Cheese paused.
"Has she?" White Lily looked up at Golden Cheese, more tears building up behind her eyes. "Goldie, what aren't you telling me?!"
"I couldn't protect her, Lily. I couldn't. She crumbled before my eyes. I'm so sorry." She pulled White Lily into a tight embrace. "I'll never let that happen again."
"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry." She hid her face in her hands. "I'm so so sorry."
"It- it wasn't your fault."
"It was!"
"It wasn't. I promised you, remember? I promised you I wouldn't let her die. Let me take the blame for this."
