Summary:

"In District 6, they told stories. Most commonly, stories of freedom."

Deep in District 6, there lives a boy. Atlas Jett is only 12 years old when he’s reaped for the 69th Hunger Games. He knows he can't win. 12-year-olds never win the Hunger Games. But, he has hope that his best friend who's been reaped with him has a chance. He refuses to let the Capitol take him down without at least fighting.

Notes:

Welcome! If you recognise some of the names, please know that this is a rewrite. By rewrite, I truly mean forget everything you thought you knew about these characters.

I will not be providing trigger warnings for each chapter, but please read responsibly with the knowledge of the kind of content the original series contains.

AT THE CIRCUS

By Ondra Lysohorsky, 1970

Durov

you and your animals have made me sad.

You have taught the fox and the wolf

to walk peaceably beside the fowl and the lamb,

persuaded the cat

not to touch the mice

But why is it you,

as doves flutter around you in the arena,

have not managed likewise

with the human beings

who from the grandstands of the World Circus

applaud your arts of peace,

never managed to train them

not to devour each other.
