It all started on April Fools day a few years ago, when Switch ig decided it would be funny to post a video called "Shorts Wars the Musical". And boy did I fall for it. Not only did I feel like an idiot, but I was mad. Mad that Switch wasted such a beautiful idea for a stupid prank that would be taken down from his channel later on. So I took matters into my own hands. It started as a joke, gathering songs, casting my friends... until I met my Co-director, @Vyanalyi, aka Allen. The musical then went through a series of mishaps, with the state of it constantly being in jeopardy. First I wanted to write it with original music, then Allen offered to help so I made him my co-writer as well, then I got anxiety about posting it so I gave up, then I got angry at Switch so I started writing it out of spite as a jukebox, then I almost canceled it again because I chose to leave the community, I let go of all the people I casted, I got angry at the fact that I've worked too hard to let this go to waste so I decided to save it, basically, this musical has been through A LOT. It has always been my dream to contribute something beautiful to a fandom that cherished me, so this is it. If you could, please give this as much love as possible. You should know...
Since it's hard to put a musical on paper, (or AO3 in our case), here are some things you should know!
• (Character's name - X) indicates the beginning of a song! If a paragraph does not begin in X:, then the person is not singing. If a line or paragraph begins with
Character name:, then it's dialouge. The rest are stage directions.
• We kept stage directions during songs very minimal because we don't know how to write a choreography, so use your imagination 🤷♀️
• Allen wrote all of act 1, while I, Aly, wrote acts 2 and 3, which explains the decline in quality after act 1 (he's so much better then me I cannot-)
• Fun fact: the reason Danno and Datchia sing Cautionary Tale together is because when we had a cast, Allen played Danno and I played Datchia!
• Words inside [ ] are video titles, meant to be played on a projector on the back of the stage. Remember, imagination is important!
• This is a jukebox musical, meaning all the songs are not original, and while I did re write some of the lyrics, these songs do not belong to Shorts Wars the Musical
