Chapter 1: Cruise Ship Switch Up.

Chapter Text

Grian sprinted across the busy dock. People with straw hats and luggage milled about without a care in the world.

Grian was not one of them.

He had lost track of time and was now racing to get on his cruise boat before it left without him.

Looking down at his ticket, he checked what ship he needed to get to. He had nearly run right past it in his haste. Pivoting, he sprinted down towards the large cruise ship.

He noted that the swarm of people that he had been avoiding barreling into were missing, the dock was completely devoid of other people.

There was one other person he spotted, a man in a suit roping off the opening to the ship.

His adrenaline spiked, and he yelled out, “HEY WAIT!” Grian ran faster, waving his free arm wildly. He nearly lunged over the rope, stopping just in time. “I need on, now.” Grian was sure he looked like an insane mess.

“We're not taking any more passengers. You need to-” Grian cut him off, waving his ticket in front of the man's face.

“I spent way too much money and time getting tickets for this cruise. You will let me on this ship, or I'm going to make sure you never work again.” Grian regretted his words the moment he said them, but he was desperate. He wasn't going to be stuck on some random island.

The cruise worker's face stiffened, letting out a small sigh, glancing at Grian's ticket, "Enjoy your cruise, sir,” he said with a forced smile plastered on his face.

Grian was let on the ship.

He was shocked and mortified that it worked.

Grian would describe it as elegantly modern, mostly white with pops of dark indigo and silvery gold accents.

Honestly, he was shocked with how nice it was. A part of him wondered if they gave him the wrong room.

A large sliding glass door with a balcony. Lines made up an abstract golden sun woven in the carpet expanding from under the large king sized bed.

The bed was made up of a soft white bedspread, dark blue decorative pillows, and a throw blanket. Fresh flowers sat on one of the nightstands.

Grian placed his luggage into the closet next to the door.

He made his way across the room to the bathroom.

It was just as elegant as the rest of the room. There was a vanity, and across from it two sinks sat carved into marble. The toilet had its own small room.

There was a large shower in the back stocked with extremely nice soaps.

Seeing as he was still disheveled from his mad dash, he decided that a shower was just what he needed.

Grian spotted two booklets sitting on the bed. He picked them up.

The first one was what he would expect, thanking the reader for booking a cruise with them, boring stuff he had already read before.

He looked at the other one. It looked different from the other one immediately. Instead of blue with a photo of the ship on it, it was white with a gold border.

A few lines stood out to him. It went on about free meals, free room service, happy hours, and movies, for the whole trip. Things he definitely didn't buy.

From the extremely nice and likely expensive perks and room. It felt like a totally different cruise than the one he had booked. He felt his stomach sinking. He looked back at the other pamphlet, and sure enough

Welcome to Life Cruise Lines.

We hope you enjoy your stay with us.

It was a different cruise ship.

A knock on the door made his heart leap into his throat. He stood and opened the door. Finding the lady from the front desk.

Grian was sure the jig was up, they knew he wasn't supposed to be here.

“I'm sorry, sir, I forgot to give these to you.” She handed him a card with his name engraved in it and a basket. “We somehow misplaced these.”

“Ah, it's okay.” Grian said, turning the card in his hands. “But, uh, what is all this exactly?”

“A company gift basket filled with our complimentary gift and a gift card and vouchers at the shops as an apology for misplacing your luggage. And your Elite Diamond Member card will grant you access to all the rooms on the ship.” She said, “Again, Life Cruise Lines apologizes for the inconvenience.”

Grian thanked her and closed the door.

He looked inside the basket, it was filled with an assortment of expensive things, like champagne and boxes of chocolate.

What made him go cold was the apology gifts they had placed inside. There was 2k on the gift card, and the vouchers could be redeemed for 10 free things in nearly all the stores.

He took a breath. It was a mistake, and he was just a man who got on the wrong boat. He had no clue. He hadn't committed any crimes, at least, he didn't think he had.

He would just wait until the end of the cruise. No harm, no foul.

And if they do figure it out, he can definitely claim ignorance.

He made it this far.

Chapter 2: You can con anyone, if you're pathetic enough.

Grian meets some people and lies through his teeth!

Chapter Text

After most of the panic lifted, he decided to venture out of his room to see what was going on.

Maybe do some sleuthing and attend the happy hour. What? If he was going to be on this luxury cruise with all these amenities, he might as well enjoy them.

Grian picked up a map from a little stand and made his way to the bar.

It was a nice place, open and inviting. Large windows overlooking the vast expanse of the sea, he couldn't see the land anymore, and they had the deck open with outside seating.

Grian entered the line, grabbing himself some chips and dip.

Just ahead of him a woman started up a conversation with him as they walked.

It didn't hit him at first but as they got to talking he felt like he'd seen her before. Then it hit him, like a lead pipe.

This was Pearl, a pretty popular actress who's starred in slasher films. That's who he's talking to.

Looking around, he actually saw faces he recognized, lots of movie stars and celebrities.

“Is there anyone you're sitting with?” Pearl asked, pulling him back into the conversation.

“Nope, I was just going to sit outside” Grian replied

“How about you come sit with me, there's a few others at my table” She smiled.

“Oh that would be nice, thank you, um” Grian realized she never actually gave him her name. Would it be weird to know or not know her name?

“Pearl. You?” Pearl asked, still smiling.

“Grian.” There was a moment of awkward silence. “So what are you doing here- on this cruise I mean”

“Same reason as you I'd imagine” Pearl said as she grabbed her drink.

“Ah yeah. Makes sense.”

He found himself sitting with a group made up of mostly actors.

Joel and Lizzie, who had starred in a movie called Empires: Aquatic Kingdom.

Grian remembered when the film had come out, they announced that they had actually gotten married during the wedding in the movie.

Cleo, they had started acting in zombie films as an extra. They recently started directing their own films.

And Martyn, he acted as the right hand man to a king in a short TV show Grian hadn't watched, but he heard good things about it.

They greeted him and continued their conversations.

He would let them talk, keep the conversations centered around them or the cruise.

Grian would play it safe. People usually like talking about themselves, and these are the kind of people who like talking about themselves.

The more he talked, the more likely he was to slip up and get caught in a lie.

“I’ve noticed something. How come you're asking all these questions about the cruise Grian?” Martyn questioned.

Grian panicked,“Oh, um,” They had been talking about bad agents causing trouble, right? “I kinda, my, uh, agent kind of didn't tell me where I was going? They only told me that they booked a networking thing,” Grian shrugged.

Alright, So much for playing it safe. Nice work Grian.

Martyn sighed, “Grian, I'm going to be completely honest with you.” This was it. They were on to him. His stupid lie was going to get him caught. “You need to get a new agent. This guy you have is slimy. Probably trying to make a profit at your expense.”

Oh, not what he was expecting.

“Martyn! Don't scare him," Pearl scolded him.

“Pearl, tell me, why else would this guy book a ‘networking opportunity' for him a third of the way into a cruise? That’s weird.” Martyn turned back to Grian. “Who even is this guy?”

“They said I can't tell anyone,” Grian lied quickly, “said it would break my contract”

Everyone looked horrified. Martyn swore under his breath and began writing on a napkin.

“That can't be legal.” He handed him the napkin. “When you get home, get a lawyer, don't let this guy take advantage of you.”

“I'll keep it in mind.” Grian folded the napkin and placed it in his pocket.

They kept asking questions and Grian kept lying.

“Scar! There you are,” Lizzie said, nearly jumping out of her seat.

Grian had to take a double take. Right there, in front of him, was Scar Times.

Normally, wasn't one to keep up with celebrities, only knowing whatever was public knowledge or whatever he saw on the news.

But this was Scar Times. He's been obsessed with this man for years. He watches every movie, TV show, and interview he could get his hands on.

“Sorry, Jimmy's seasick again,” he sighs as he sits down in the empty seat next to Grian.

“I thought he said he was getting better?” Joel frowned.

“He was. Apparently the 5 minutes being on solid ground reminded him of how much he hates boats. Who's this?” Scar pointed to him. “I don't think I've seen you around”

"He arrived today," Cleo said.

There was a question in Scar’s eyes. Which Martyn was more than happy to answer. He relayed Grian's web of lies back to Scar.

“And if all that wasn't bad enough, they also lost his luggage.” Martyn ended his story.

“Darn, that's a lot,” Scar turned to him. “Well, it's nice to meet you. I hope things get better from here on out,” Scar smiled. Holding his hand out for a handshake.

Grian gingerly shook his hand. He was still trying to convince himself he wasn't dreaming, or having a seafood induced nightmare. “Thanks.”

He made an excuse and got out as soon as he could. Grian didn't think he would be able to keep it together, not while Scar was there.

“He ran off as soon as you got here, Scar,” Cleo said, the smallest glint of mischief in her eyes.

“What are you implying?” Scar squinted at them.

“Oh nothing Scar, nothing at all.” They smiled, taking a sip of their drink.

I might be having a too much fun with this new au.

Chapter 3: Liars Make For The Best Dates.

Grian eats breakfast, goes shopping, and try's to avoid scar at all costs.

Chapter Text

Grian had tried to resist sleep. He tried to convince himself that he was too upset and frightened to sleep, but the bedding was so soft, the waves outside were so rhythmic, and he was far too cozy. Sleep was inevitable.

He succumbed to it quickly.

The next morning he woke up early. He took a shower and got dressed.

He had some time before breakfast started. The best thing he could do with his time, he decided, was to open his phone and start writing down what he had said to get his story straight.

He thought about what his friends would think. Actually, he doubted his friends would believe him when he got home. He should get a photo.

Grian went to breakfast. He needed a cup of tea. He would think about food once he had his cup of tea.

There was a mouth watering amount of pastries that had been put out. He grabbed himself a blueberry scone to have with his English breakfast tea.

He found himself sitting with Pearl again. She had different friends with her this time.

Gem, a ginger haired woman, who was sat by Pearl

Scott, a blue haired man who was looking at his phone.

And another man named Scott, but everyone just called him Impulse.

They had a rock band, Gem and the Scotts.

And Skizz, who was Impulse's friend who was not a part of the band.

“I’m tired,” Gem whined. “Can we go back to bed?”

“Aw, come on, Gemstone, don't you want to meet our new friend Grian?” Skizz was leaning on the table trying to cheer up Gem, this was failing.

Scott, blue haired Scott specifically, was still scrolling on his phone, ignoring the surrounding scene.

“It's too early for this,” she leaned her head on Pearl's shoulder.

“You were the one who decided to stay up so late,” Pearl giggled.

Gem shot her a glare. “You’re supposed to be on my side.”

Grian watched them bicker with each other as he nibbled on his scone.

Grian looked up at one point and spotted Scar. He was getting himself breakfast. He looked perfectly put together. Grian had always wondered if Scar’s hair was as soft as it looked.

“You there, buddy?” Skizz was waving a hand in front of Grian's face.

“Sorry, I might be with Gem on this one. I'm a bit tired,” Grian said.

Grian chatted with Impulse and Skizz, they turned out to be very nice company.

“So Grian, what are you planning on doing later?” Impulse asked.

Grian hadn't really thought about it. He didn't actually know what there was to do, let alone where and when.

Grian shrugged "I was just going to go back to my room until lunch”

“He probably doesn't know what's going on around the ship. Remember what Joel and Martyn said?” Scott said, not looking up from his phone.

“I was getting to that. Grian,” Impulse smiled, “we made a list of things we were doing.”

Impulse handed him the list.

“We wrote down who was going to do what. Feel free to join us anytime.”” Impulse radiated dad energy.

Grian looked over the list. Something stood out to him. “Scar’s going to everything?” he said absentmindedly.

Grian took them up on their offer.

Everyone was super nice. Happy to have him there, they looped him into their activities seamlessly.

They all seemed to be told his tragic backstory and believed it. Lying was so much easier than he expected it to be.

He tried his best to avoid Scar at all costs. It was going fairly well. At first he ignored the idea that he was trying to seek him out. He had no reason to. But as the day went on, it seemed like Scar was getting more and more determined to, actually Grian wasn't sure what it was he wanted.

It got to the point where the others were telling him scar wanted to see him. Grian would smile and nod, and avoid Scar like the plague.

Grian decided to break away from the group to do something on his own.

He decided to go shopping. He also purchased a few souvenirs. Then spending the remainder of the evening selecting new clothing and suitcases to hold them. After checking his phone, he decided it was time to return to his room, put his belongings away, and go to dinner.

On his way back he was met with an unexpected intrusion, Scar turning the corner.

He had locked eyes with him as he was a few feet ahead of him. The hall was empty.

There was no chance for escape. Scar stood between him and the way to his room.

Grian nearly tripped over his own feet. He scolded himself. He and Scar were strangers, and strangers all worked by the same rules, avoiding each other at all costs.

Unfortunately for him, Scar had other plans.

“There you are.” Scar gave him his signature smirk. “You keep running off so quickly I don't have a chance to chat with you”

Grian stood there like a deer in headlights. He mustered every fiber in his being to stop from turning and running.

“Is that so?” Grian tried to keep his steady, a bit colder than he had intended.

Scar leaned forward, grinning. “Yep, I've been looking for you everywhere.”

“Is that so? Now what makes you so special?” Grian tilted his head. He was going to throw up. He was an idiot. What he had meant to say was, ‘What makes me so special?’.

There was gasping laughter from behind Scar. Grian looked over his shoulder, Lizzie and a blonde man had entered the hall.

“Dangg,” the man cackled.

Scar turned to address them. “Looks like your feeling better Jim” There was venom behind his words.

Grian had to get out of there with some of his dignity intact, what little bit was left.

Scar turned back to him. Ignoring his friends for the time being.

“How about you come to the party tomorrow, so I can show you how special I am?” He looked more confident then he had just moments before.

Grian looked him up and down. He was buying time, trying to think of something to say. His brain was in full meltdown.

“I’d like to see you try, pretty boy” Grian hoped he didn't look to pale

“It's a date.” He smirked.

Grian was no longer concerned about being pale, he was sure he was bright cherry red.

As soon as Grian made it back to the safety of his room, he faceplanted into a pillow and screamed.

He did not just do that. He did not just do whatever the heck that was.

His mind was racing. He couldn't believe what happened. Was this real? This wasn't real. He hadn't been flirting with him. Grian was insane.

There was no way in any universe that he had just been flirting with Scar Time, his teenage crush. Oh, who was he fooling? This was his adult crush. He still had a poster of him taped to his closet door.

His face was hot. He felt feverish, or maybe he was having a heart attack. That's what it was, he was having a heart attack.

Grian made his way to the shower in a haze. He stood under the ice cold water fully clothed and just spiraled.

He closed his eyes and focused on breathing.

His heartbeat slowly returned to normal, and he felt the fatigue finally hit him. He had a long day, and he was exhausted. And uncomfortably cold and wet.

He changed into his nightclothes, an old oversized t-shirt and shorts. Brushed his teeth, dried his hair, and promptly passed out as soon as his head hit the pillow.

Chapter Text

His anxiety rose throughout the day, getting worse and worse as time passed.

Grian didn't hang out with the people he had conned into being his friends. He wasn't even going to leave his room, maybe won't leave for the entire rest of the trip.

But there he was, showing up.

It was tamer than he expected it to be, still way too bright and loud, but he could probably handle it for an hour or so.

There were a few rooms with karaoke machines. People seemed to be flowing in and out at random.

Grian wandered for a bit and grabbed a drink. And for the first time, he was the one looking for Scar.

He found him in a room full of familiar faces. It looked like they had taken over one of the rooms.

The first one to spot him was unfortunately Jimmy.

“Scar! Your boyfriend is here!” Jimmy yelled over to Scar, who was at a distance where shouting was not at all necessary.

That's it. Grian was going to throw himself in the ocean.

He had half a mind to leave right then and there. But with the way Scar lit up when he spotted him. It made his heart skip a beat.

So against his better judgment, he joined them.

Scar made room next to himself for Grian to sit.

Grian sat down, arms folded, a scowl on his face. “Har har. You must be Timmy. The seasick one?”

“Its Jimmy” Tim looked like he didn't like the nickname Grian so lovingly bestowed upon him.

“That's great, Tim, anyway.” Grian proceeded to ignore him.

Scar tried to talk with Grian. Grian gave him a short response every time. What was until he started talking about architecture. Despite himself, Grian opened up.

They more or less just talked to each other. Grian kind of forgot there was a room of people around him.

Scar was so interesting. Things that didn't come through in interviews shone through here.

They embarrass themselves at karaoke. Grian made his rounds talking with everyone.

Grian’s anxiety lessened as the night went on. He couldn't even remember why he had been so worried.

Soon enough, though, the noise and light got to him. He needed some time away. Grian slipped out while Scar was having a heated debate with Jimmy.

He leaned against the boat's railing, looking into the inky dark water. An ocean breeze played with his hair. It was calmer here. Not a soul was out. As much as he liked hanging out with everyone, he was enjoying this much more.

“There you are. I was wondering where you ran off to.” Scar appeared next to him. “Are you doing okay?”

Grian hummed in acknowledgement, "I'm fine. It was just getting a bit too loud for me.”

They stood together in comfortable silence.

“So,” Scar started, and he turned to face him. “Have I proven my worth yet”

Honestly, Grian had forgotten about that. “Hmmm, I don't know,” Grian teased. “You may be handsome and interesting, but special? You may need to try a little bit harder.”

Grian wasn't sure where all this unfounded confidence was coming from.

Scar gave him a fake pout. “You are a hard man to please”

“You’re smart. I imagine you can come up with something”

Scar thought about it for a moment, brows furrowed in concentration.

“What about a kiss?”

Grian snorted, “Is your kiss really all that?”

“One way to find out”

His heart felt like a bird trying to escape his rib cage.

His brain was screaming at him to shut his big mouth. He thought about making good on that thought to jump overboard.

But he had leaned in without even thinking about it. Something about Scar was too alluring.

Grian’s eyelids fluttered down. Scar's finger lightly brushing his jaw. Their soft breaths tangling together. The two were mere inches apart.

In a single moment, Grian could close that distance. Completely melt into Scar. That thought made reality hit him then. Fear clouded his mind.

Grian panicked and placed his hands on Scar's shoulders and stepped back. “No, Scar. This is wrong.” Grian shook his head. “I’m sorry I, I can’t do this to you.”

Scar just stared at him, not quite processing what he just said.

Scar tipped his head to the side. “Wrong?” He looked like he was holding onto the railing like a lifeline. “Oh my gosh! Grian, I’m so sorry. I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable. That wasn't cool."

Now Grian had done it. Scar looked mortified. Grian wished he could undo this mess.

“No, Scar! I'm the one who should be sorry.” Grian shoved his face into his hands.

"I’m not even supposed to be here. It was a mistake.” Tears started forming in his eyes. "I've been lying to you, everyone. I didn't mean for it to go this far. I'm not this great, amazing, famous guy. I'm just-”

Scar looked confused. Grian didn't blame him. He reached out like he was going to grab him, but stopped short, letting his hand hover over Grian’s arm. “Hey, it's okay, everyone deals with imposter syndrome-”

“No. That's not it. This is not imposter syndrome. I am flat out lying. I'm a liar. From moment one, I have been lying.” Grian took a shaky breath. “I don't mean it as I think I'm bad or have no talent, I know I'm not those things. Because I made them up”

Grian was letting it all spill out. Every last lie.

“I’m not supposed to be here. I got on the wrong boat.” Grian let out a sad laugh. “You asked a liar out on a date.”

Grian looked up at Scar, expecting to be met with disgust, anger, betrayal.

Sadness, Scar green eyes shone with the most gut-punching sadness.

“I'm sorry.” Grian choked out.

He turned to leave only for Scar to grab his arm.

“Grian wait” Scars voice was steady and calm.

“I’m just some loser who’s good at thinking on his feet.” He turned back towards Scar.

“A hot loser, who's good at thinking on his feet”

Grian tried and failed to say something. He just kept opening and closing his mouth.

Scar placed his hand back on Grian's cheek. He used his thumb to wipe tears Grian hadn't realized he'd shed.

Grian leaned into his touch. His palm was warm.

“I don't care as much about how and why you're here as much as you think I do,” Scar said.

“Why?” Grian couldn't wrap his brain around how Scar wasn't disgusted by him.

“Do I need a reason to have a crush on you?” Scar smiled.

What an infectious smile. Grian laughed out of pure disbelief. “You made zero sense.”

“I get that a lot”

“You know it's usually fans who have crushes on celebrities, right? Not the other way around.”

Scar hmm’d and ah’d over what Grian said. “Maybe,” he eventually said.

Grian laughed, a real, genuine laugh.

“Now,” Scar said, a grin trying and failing to be a smirk plastered on his face, “I think I’m owed a kiss.”

Grian scoffed, “I owe nothing.” He glanced down to Scar's lips, “but I might make an exception. Just for you.”

In a swift movement, their lips were intertwined. There wasn't anything holding them back.

Grian no longer had to pretend, no longer had the weight of his self imposed mess hanging over him. There were no more stupid lies between them.

Scar wasn't an unobtainable, bright star a thousand miles away. Scar was here, he was real. He wasn't just a fantasy or a poster, hidden away in Grian’s closet. And he was kissing him.

Scar slid his hands up Grian’s torso. In response, Grian leaned in further, tangling his finger into Scar's hair, which was, in fact, as soft as it looked.

They stayed like that for an indeterminate amount of time. It felt like forever but was over too soon.

It was only their lips that parted. They remained in their embrace. Their foreheads resting against each other.

Giggles bubbled up from the two as they swayed on the deck under a blanket of stars.

Grian looked into Scar’s emerald green eyes.

They kissed again. It wasn't like the wildfire the first kiss had been. It was slow and loving. Grian sighed against Scar's lips with contentment.

Scar tasted of dark chocolates and expensive champagne.

It was perfect. The world was right.

There was one question still on his mind though.

“Are you going to tell everyone I was lying?”

“I don't see why we should end the fun.” There was chaotic glitter in his eyes.

A grin broke out across Grian’s face.

Chapter Text

Scar and Grian spent the next two weeks getting to know each other better, going on dates, and messing with the others.

They only told Martyn what Grian had done. Martyn had been so kind, wanting to help Grian. He felt terrible keeping up that lie, at least to him.

Thankfully he found it funny and wasn't too upset about it and promised to keep it a secret as well.

They decided that Scar would send a text explaining everything to their group chat when he got home.

But for now they just enjoyed their time together.

Grian got into the passenger seat of the car Scar had rented.

Grian took his phone out of airplane mode. A barrage of texts and missed calls from Mumbo poured in as soon as he did.

“You good, Grian? Who was trying to get a hold of you?” Scar said as he drove.

“My friend.” Grian winced. “He was supposed to pick me up. Three days ago”

Grian pressed the call button, and before it even rang, he could hear Mumbo’s panicked voice from the other end. “GRIAN! Are you okay? Where are you? What happened?!”

“Hi, Mumbo. I'm fine,” Grian giggled.

“Grian, this is no laughing matter. Did you get stranded? I told you to pay more attention.” Mumbo sounded frantic. “Where are you? I’ll pick you up.”

“Mumbo, it's okay. I've got a ride. I'm not stranded. I did miss my boat- BUT it's okay. I was able to con my way onto another one and made everyone believe I was supposed to be there.” Mumbo made what Grian could only describe as a squeaky toy noise on the other end.

“What?” Mumbo sounded completely defeeded.

“Oh I also got a boyfriend," Grian proudly stated. “Guess who it is”

“Grian, I'm never going to be able to guess who you're dating,” he sighed.

“Yeah, but you really could never guess who it is.”

“What? are you going to tell me?”

“Nope! You gotta wait”

After a day of travel, Grian and Scar made it to Mumbo's house.

Mumbo was standing outside waiting.

Grian jumped out of his seat as soon as the car was parked.

“Mumbo!” Grian grinned.

“Grian,” Mumbo tilted his head, arms crossed. Mumbo looked up from Grian to the car. “Is that your boyfriend's car?”

“Nah, it's a rental. He's not that cool,” Grian replied.

“I heard that,” Scar yelled out.

There was a spark of regeneration in Mumbo's eyes as he heard Scar's voices. “You’re lying.”

Grian’s grin got wider as he shook his head. “Nope”

Scar made his way over to them. Mumbo looked as if he would faint.

“Grian, explain. Why is Scar Times on my front lawn” Mumbo said.

“He's my boyfriendddd” Grian sang.

“How did you even?” Mumbo was lost for words.

“I can probably explain" Scar piped up, “You see, Grian started talking with my friends, and they thought he was just the saddest, wettest cat they've ever seen, and they decided to adopt him into our friend group. I said, ‘Wow! I need to meet this guy’ but he kept running away from me, and he was so pretty. But eventually he agreed to go on a date with me. And then we kissed.”

“I am not a sad wet cat! I was much more charming than that,” Grian pouted.

“Mhmh, yeah. That sob story you spun for Martyn was just so charming.” Scar snickered.

“How much did he pay you to do this?” Mumbo raised an eyebrow at him.

“MUMBO! For once I am not lying!”

“Never thought I'd see the day.” Scar wiped a fake tear away.

“Shut it.” Grian crossed his arms.

“Okay okay so mate, you- in your words ‘conned’ your way onto a celebrity cruise, and didn't get caught. And then somehow you start dating Scar Times , a guy we've had a crush on since we were like 16. Is that what I’m hearing”

“Yes?” grian shrugged “thats pretty much what happened”

“And you didn't just pay him to show up”

“I didn't pay him to do this, no,” Grian said.

“Grian you do realize you sound insane right?”

“Mumbo, I'm telling the truth!”

“Nope nope” Mumbo turned “It's not real.”

Grian ran after him, leaving Scar alone on Mumbo's lawn.

He smiled. What had Scar done to be able to meet someone so amazing?
