This takes place before the events of the story
When the world you live in is the thing you fear most. A story that follows Sonics variant Shiver. If you haven't read that story yet i recommend you do so before reading this one.

Chapter Text
A silent darkness.
Nothing to be seen.
This was his world.
The only thing he was aware of was something beneath him moving. Small and gentle movements. As if the surface underneath him was moving on it's own. Left, right, left then right again. Rythimcally. Slowly very slowly. He almost didn't register it. His world was dark. Darkness had been keeping the hedgehog companie for awhile.
How long had it been this way?
Was there ever anything else then this quiet soothing darkness?
He wasn't sure.
Nor did he care.
The hedgehog was to tired for that. Those ruby eyes where closed with conciousness buried deep behind them. No thoughts formed in his mind. Just a quiet mind. A tired mind. Seemingly wrapped in darkness for ages.
The entire world existed out of this darkness that surrounded him completely.
Like that was all he had known. Darkness, stillness embracing him. Something about this silence, this darkness felt right. Comforting almost. Nothingness without any pain nor stress. Darkness feeling like a gentle embrace around his entire being.
More gentle movements could be felt. Slow, gentle. Left, right, left right. Then left again. It felt like the surface beneath him was gently rocking him. From side to side. Slowly quietly. In an even rhythm.
That's all he could feel for the longest time. Still that did nothing to change his state of conciousness. It stayed far away. Hidden behind a thick fog. Unable to comprehend anything. A new sensation tried to tug at his mind. Sounds could be heard. Footsteps. He could hear someone moving. Voices. Ears flicked ever so slightly.
People seemed to be talking. The hedgehog couldn't understand what they where saying. It sounded far away. Strange gibberish. Like every word got distorted. A veil hanging between the words and his ears that picked up on these sound.
His body was here wherever that was at the moment. There wasn't enough awareness to think about it let alone care.
No reaction was given to the sounds of voices. The footsteps he heard but couldn't register. His clouded mind was simply too far away. It could care less. All it knew was this quiet darkness that encompassed it's whole world.
Then something changed. The rocking movements beneath him got faster all of a sudden. Only briefly before going back to a gentle rocking. More voices where saying uncomprehensable things. Sounding almost like they where underwater. Yet the hedgehog never moved. There was no change in his conciousness or awareness.
A new sensation was felt. A gentle carefull touch on his back. Black and red quills bristeled slightly in response. Not out of awareness. More out of intstinct then anything. He could feel a slow gentle movement on his back. The hedgehog never conciously registered this. It changed nothing in his awareness that was buried deep beneath a fog. Then the sensation on his back was gone again.
Making room for a new one. All of a sudden it felt like he moved slightly.
Did he do that?
There where no such thoughts in his empty clouded mind.
He wasn't aware enough to initiate any movement by himself.
Unable to form such concious thoughts at all.
The movement he made felt a bit odd too.
He couldn't put his finger on it. Not aware enough to realize why. Though there seemed to be a bit more pressure on his back now.
Was he lying on his back?
When did that happen?
Some more voices could be heard. Still sounding distorted. He could feel something gently pressing against his chest. Only for a few short moments before the sensation was gone again.
Quiet, stillness, darkness.
Then all of a sudden things seemed to be moving.
No wait that wasn't right.
The hedgehog was moving somehow. No more slow rocking form left to right. This felt different. His body seemingly floating now that the pressure on his back was gone. Something soft did seem to support him though. Comfortable nice.
Moving, he was moving. A gentle wind ruffled through his quills.
Was he flying?
It sort of felt like it.
That is how he would describe this sensation if he was aware enough to think about it.
But he wasn't.
His eyes where closed.
Darkness in every corner of his world.
It was all he knew.
This quiet darkness was his entire world.
Comforting in it's embrace.
A gentle breeze was replaced by a warmth. Cozy wrapping itself around him. It felt nice. After what could have been only a few moments. Just a bit later he felt something new. A soft surface beneath him. It didn't move and was soft so very soft. Comfy and warm. For a moment the hedgehog stirred slightly. Pressing himself down further onto the soft surface. Feeling so pleasant on his skin.
Another sensation followed shortly after. Something soft on his quills. Not only his quills, but his furr. Over his legs and arms, covering his entire body except his head.
Nice so nice and comforting. The hedgehog could definitly get used to this sensation. It felt save and warm. Though his mind was far away. Instinctively there was a sense of safety going through his body as his quills relaxed. No longer bristeling at the slightest movement.
The hedgehog stayed like that for an undeterminded amount of time. He wouldn't even know or be aware enough about that. Though at some point his conciousness started to rise. A fog started to lift.
He stirred slightly.
Fingers started twitching.
Eyes began to flutter open revealing their bright ruby colour.
Sluggishly the hedgehogs hands rubbed his eyes. At first everything was fuzzy. The first thing those eyes could see when they where fully open was a pair of blue eyes looking at him.

Chapter Text
The young hedgehog rubbed his eyes sluggishly with his small gloved hands. He was still feeling drowsy. Everything around him looked fuzzy. Tired eyes fluttered open. They where trying to take in their surroundings. Those normally bright ruby eyes looked a bit dull at the moment. Focusing was still a bit hard.
It took some time for his brain to wake up. An awareness that slumbered was trying to rise from the depths of his mind. Little arms stretched and he let out a yawn while his eyes slowly adjusted to the light. Things where getting clearer. Less fuzzy. He kept rubbing his eyes. The first thing he could see once his eyes where fully open was a pair of blue eyes looking at him. The young hedgehogs eyes widened.
Where was he?
How did he get here?
Where was here?
Black quills bristeled as he let out a hiss. His body tensed. Telling him that he's in danger.
He tried to bolt and while doing so, he clumsily fell of the bed. Hitting the wooden floor with a smack. It hurt a little causing him to let out a hiss.
Ruby eyes looked around in confusion. Everything around him was so big and scary looking. A young girl with blue eyes and golden hair looked at him. She was quite a bit taller then him. That scared him and made his quills bristle. He didn't know what to do or where to go. This whole situation freaked the young hedgehog out. Still so young and small merely a tiny hoglet.
He pulled the blanket he was tangled in over him. Pleasant warm, soft. It felt safe. He could hide under it. That scary girl that towered over him wouldn't be able to find him. He had no idea who she was. No idea where he was or what happened. His breathing slowed down while pulling the blanket closer to him. It comforted him in a way. Soft and warm shielding him from everything. Ears flicked as he could hear footsteps getting closer.
“Don't be afraid little one.” a sweet sounding voice said. To some this might have sounded comforting. It didn't comfort him though. Only freaked him out more. He was to confused and afraid. His mind felt overwhelmed by this new enviroment he didn't know. Everything looking so big, scary and dangerous. All of this made the little hoglett feel uneasy.
As the steps got closer and closer his breathing got faster and faster.
She couldn't find him right?
He was hidden under a blanket.
A safe warm blanket.
As long as he was under this blanket he was safe.
No one could hurt or find him as long as he was under this blanket.
A sudden touch on his back startled him, causing his quills to bristle. All the nerves in his body where on edge as the blanket began to move. Someone was pulling it away. Blue eyes revealed themselves looking at him sweetly. Kindness within him, but he didn't notice. Overwhelmed the tiny hoglet was overwelmed by everything. It was to much. Everything looked intimidating. His mind couldn't process it. The only thing he could feel was unease and fear. She was taller then him even when she sat hunched down. Trying to get to his level.
“I won't hurt you little one. It's okay. Don't be afraid.” The girl said while reaching her hand out slowly to him. A calmness radiated from her. She was trying to reassure him. But he didn't calm down. His heart began racing, breathing picking up.
How had she found him?
He was safe under the blanket.
How did she know he was under the blanket?
The hoglet's body screamed at him to get away. Every nerve screaming at him that he's in danger. A mix off being overwhelmed, confused and scared. He was ready to bolt any moment now. Black and red quills bristeled more. That feeling got worse the closer she got. Everything was scary. Too big. Too overwhelming. He started growling and hissing. Eyes darting around the room to find a safe place to hide.
Should he make a run for it?
To where though?
No getting out of this room.
A door there was a door.
A moment later he bolted towards the door. Only realizing he couldn't open it once he stood in front of it. The doorknob was to high to reach even when jumping. If he wasn't wearing gloves then he would have left scratches on the wood. Ears flicked as he heard to girls footsteps. He could hear her get closer to him. Quills bristeled more. Every nerve in his tiny body was on fire. Giving him signals that he wasn't safe, preparing him to run or if need be fight. More hissing noises where made.
"O, little one don't be scared i won't hurt you i promise." Her voice sounded calm. She looked at him with concern in her eyes. Slowly she tried to approach him. But the hoglet let out another load hiss and bolted yet again. This time he hid under a desk. Ears where pinned to his skull quills bristeled upwarts, sure to hurt anyone who would try to grab him. He closed his eyes and hugged his legs.
This was all so scary.
To overwhelming.
Sounds where to loud and not loud at the same time. His senses where overwhelmed, everything was simply too much for his confused scared mind. The more he freaked out the more overwhelmed he felt.
He needed it to stop.
He needed to feel safe.
Things where to big.
Way to big and scary.
Unfamiliar smells filled his nostrils causing him to freak out more.
He was breathing to fast and that little heart started beating faster and faster.
Who was that girl?
Where was he?
How did he get here?
What where those unfamiliar smells?
Everything looked strange,unfamiliar and scary.
He didn't have much more time to think because the girl managed to find him again. How did she keep finding him? "Are you you okay little one? That was a bit of a fall. Are you hurt? Don't worry i'm not going to hurt you. I promise. I just want to know if your okay." She kept coming closer. The hoglett hissed with every step he heard. Refusing to lift his head up. To look at who was coming closer. He didn't know who she was. She was taller then the tiny hoglett towering over him even when not standing up fully. Golden hair, blue eyes a blue dress with white frills. A in her hair. Short puffy sleeves on her dress and a white unbuttoned sweater over it.
Close she was so close. She needed to get away from him. She looked scary. To big. To overwhelming. To much. "No need to be scared. Your safe here. I'm not going to hurt you. Really i'm not." Slowly she reached out her hand. The hoglet opened his eyes and glared at her with his bright ruby eyes. Hissing while his quills bristeled even more. A growl left his throat. She sighed. A sad and concerned look in her eyes. Before getting up slowly.
Ruby eyes kept glaring at her. He never stopped hissing. Black quills with red highlights bristeled the whole time. The young girl just looked at him with those blue eyes. Looking a little sad. A touch of concern in her eyes.
Though the hoglet didn't notice that. After awhile the girl walked away opening the door. She left the room leaving a tiny scared and confused hoglet all alone. He hugged his knees. Breathing to fast, his tiny little heart that beat faster then it should have. She was gone.
Now he was all alone in this big room, still feeling scared and confused. Hiding beneath a desk. He may have been safe here but it didn't give him the same warmth and comfort as the blanket did earlier. The blanket was soft, warm, and comfy it felt safe. Light coming in from outside was a bit orange in color. Outside, the sun was setting. Soon, it would get dark. The sky would look red, orange, dark blue and black as darkness crept in. A time of day that was known as dusk.
Notes:
So this may have gone differently then you expected. The way Dusk reacts may raise some questions. He really doesn't seem to know who the girl is or where he is. I wonder why that is. Any guesses? He's definitly very young in this story. Just a very small hoglet. Any other details you noticed?
Don't forget to leave a kudo if you liked it. Leave a comment to let me know what your thoughts and theories.
I'm not sure if i'll update this next or when the world you live in is the thing you fear most. Though i'm trying to update that first as it's the main story i'm working on.
Chapter 3

Notes:
A chapter that follows Celeste perspective. Should be interesting and anwser some questions.
At the moment i'm not feeling to well so i can't make any promises on when the next chapter for either this or when the world you live in will be posted. I had this chapter ready earlier so i'm glad i was able to edit and post this chapter for you all.

Chapter Text
For Celeste, it was a calm day. A day like any other. Some nice weather, albeit a bit cloudy and chilly. She put on a white sweater, leaving it unbuttoned. Her long golden hair swayed in the wind. She loved sailing very much. Getting to see new places was always exciting. Although today had been very boring. Her granpapa had been very busy. He was completely engrossed in his work. Some kind of project he was working on. There was no spare time for her. Usually, he made time for her. Doted on her, really.
Not today though. She was left alone. Trying to find a way to entertain herself. Celeste sat outside on the dek. Drawing flowers or trying to at least. There was too much wind, which made drawing anything very difficult. She could go inside but she wasn't really in the mood for that. Besides, granpapa said to stay outside. He didn't want any distrations when he worked on whatever it was he was working on. He really didn't tell her anything besides to only disturb him in case of an emergency.
She tried to entertain herself. Finding something to appeal to her was a struggle today. Drawing and reading, both of it felt so boring at the moment. Eventually the young girl opted to use her binoculairs and look around. Maybe she could spot an island or something interesting. An island would be nice. It had been awhile since they set foot on an island and to be honest she was itching to explore. Hopefully soon.
Blue eyes looked around. Water, more water. Seagulls. Some fish jumped up. Nothing of note. The young girls sighed. Hoping to discover anything interesting. Make this day less boring. Well she wouldn't give up so soon.
An adventurer never gives up. Never stops exploring. She playfully walked around the deck. While writing down whatever she saw. A seagull to the left. More little fish jumping out of the water could be spotted. All of this was important information. To navigate one must keep track of their surroundings. That's what her granpapa always told her.
Every little rock that poked out from the water got written down. All things she needed to make a map. A good map one fit for an adventurer who was exploring the world. Celeste waved her binoculairs around in a playfull manner while skipping towards the other side. Nothing interesting to see yet. Ooh but maybe she would find an undiscovered island. That's what adventurers did and that's what she was. The best one around. She would discover every island in the world. Maybe a sea beast would show itself.
Then she would face it like a real adventurer. “Beware sea beasts i'm here and i'm not scared of you. I Celeste the adventurer will best any beast that comes across my path. Do you dare show yourself to me?” Some more fish jumped out of the water.
“Ah i see you do dare to show yourself seabeasts! Don't think you can intimidate me. For i am Celeste explorer of the sea's. Nothing scares me!” She was starting to have fun pretending these little fish where sea beast. It made the day less boring.
Now if only she could actually spot something actually interesting. Celeste then proceeded to climb onto the crows nest. A very beautiful view from up here. She could see in all directions at once. Her blue eyes caught something different. Causing her to pause for a moment.
She spotted a small boat in the middle of the ocean. All alone. Huh weird. She'd never seen a little boat like that on the ocean. It looked like a life boat from a sinking ship. Though there didn't seem to be anyone on it. Not as far as she could see. Celeste used her binoculairs to look again. Then she saw something. Barely noticable but small. Something very small was on this little boat.
Her eyes narrowed. She's almost missed it. Whoever was on this life boat might be hurt.
Celeste wasted no time. Her granpapa had told her not to disturb him with his project. This was an emergency though. Or it might be an emergency so it would be okay to go inside. She stormed inside. “Granpapa, come quick! You need to come with me!”
Her granpapa looked startled as she stormed in and quickly threw something of the desk. “What is it sweetheart? I'm very busy at the moment so unless it's an emergency...”
Celeste tugged at his arm and proceeded to drag him outside. “But granpapa. I saw a life boat. I think someone's hurt. We have to help.” His eyes widened. At first he didn't really see anything. “Are you sure you saw a life boat? I don't see anything sweetheart.”
“Yes granpapa over there. Here take my binoculairs.” She pushed the binoculairs in his hand and pointed her finger towards a certain spot. He could feel the sense of urgency and soon spotted a small life boat. It was very easy to miss. If Celeste hadn't pointed it out he would have missed it. The waves where high enough to obscure it from sight. There was also a fair bit of distance between them and the life boat. None the less there might be someone in need of help and he would be damned if he didn't offer it.
Upon getting closer Celeste could see what was on the life boat. A hoglett layed on the lifeboat. Small very small. Just a tiny little thing really. Unmoving completely still. She wasn't even sure if he was alive or even breathing.
“Is he alright?” Her voice sounded so tiny with a little crack in it. She could feel her granpapa's hands on her shoulders. Firm trying to ground her. “I'm not sure. I'll have to take a closer look. He doesn't look to good. I'm not gonna lie. Who knows how long this little fellah has been a drift like this.”
First things first. They needed to get this hoglet on board. Celeste insisted on getting the hoglet of the life boat. A rope ladder was brought beside the little boat. As she got on it the sudden increase of weight caused it to rock pretty badly for a few moments. The young girl didn't move at first. Her eyes gazed upon this tiny hoglet. Black quills with red highlights. He was so small. Just laying there, not moving at all. Was he even breathing? For a moment her breathing hitched. What if they where to late.
Celeste gently put her hand on his back. The poor thing felt cold to the touch. Gulping nervously she rolled him on his back gently. She put her head against his chest in attempt to hear a heartbeat. Quiet and a bit slow but there it was. A heartbeat. The young girl breathed a sigh of relief. “Granpapa! He's alive, i can hear a a heartbeat! But he's very cold!”
“That's a relief. Bring him here quickly so i can take a better look. Be carefull not to hurt yourself on his quills.” Celeste carefully grabbed the tiny hoglet. His quills bristeled ever so slightly in response. The young girl had taken her sweater of and wrapped the hoglet in it. Protecting herself from his quills that way and it would help him get warmer. The cold wind caused a a chill to go down her spine. She was feeling cold very quickly. Her eyes gazed upong the hoglet in her arms. Poor thing had been in this cold all alone. What if he got sick? She held him tighter protectively not wanting to let him go.
As soon as her granpapa layed his eyes on him there, the look in his eyes changed. A look of concern. “He's terribly cold granpapa.”
“Yes no wonder with this weather. Come let's get him inside. It's way to cold for him out here.”
The hoglet remained unresponsive the entire time. Any reaction such as quills bristeling had been an instictive response. Celeste put him down on the bed, remover her sweater and covered him with a blanket. She ran her fingers through his quills. “It's okay little one your safe now.”
He looked so tiny in that bed. She could hardly believe how small he was. So easy to fall out if they weren't carefull. They'd have to get an appropriate bed for him at some point. “He needs to get warm first. This little one has been lucky you found him. Any longer and he may not have made it.”
“He will be okay right granpapa?” Celeste was almost crying. Her granpapa hugged her. “As long as we take care of him he will be fine. Let's just let him rest for now. We can see if we can get him to eat something once he wakes up. I'll have to check what he can eat first. I'm not sure how old this little fellah is and if or how much solid food he'll be able to eat. After that i can do a full examination.”
The young girl nodded. As long as this little hoglet was unconcious she would still worry. She would not leave his side untill he woke up. Checking if he was still breathing. Making sure he was alright. This little one had no one. They didn't know where he came from. Knew nothing about his parents. There was no one who could take care of this hoglett except for them right now. Chaos she didn't even know how old he was. One thing was for sure. He wasn't alone anymore and she would make sure he would feel safe.
Notes:
So what do you think of the chapter i hope you liked it. I hope you like Celeste's personality as Maria's variant. Celeste found Dusk huh interesting. Chapter Text
Celeste sat beside a tiny hoglett. She waited for him to wake up. Watching him carefully. Hoping he'd be okay once he did. He was so small, just really tiny and frail. Laying there underneath a warm blanket. His features where relaxed. Seemingly sleeping peacefully. Maybe dreaming about something nice.
Her blue eyes looked at him trying to see if he made any movements. For any signs that he might wake up soon. Nothing though. Not even the rising of his chest to indicate he was still breathing. He hadn't even moved in his sleep. Still laying there in the same position as when she tucked him into bed. The young girl checked if he was still breathing with the utmost care. He was breathing but very slowly.
Nothing though. Not even the rising of his chest to indicate he was still breathing. Though that might have been because this little one was covered under a warm blanket. Making it harder to tell. Celeste could only see his face. He hadn't even moved in his sleep. Still laying there in the same position as when she tucked him into bed. The little one hadn't given a single response to anything all this time. It worried her. Her granpapa may have said he would be fine if they took good care of him, but even so she still worried.
His body felt a lot warmer then when she first found him. That was good. At least the little one wasn't freezing anymore. Carefully she ran her fingers through his quills. “Your safe little one. Wake up soon okay?”
No response. Like before. She really hoped he would wake up soon. That would make her worry a bit less.
Where did he come from? Where was his family? His parents? He was to young to be on his own. Did they get lost at sea? Seeing him like this broke her heart. So tiny, fragile. A frail little thing. It pained her to think that this little hoglett was all alone. No family, parents to care for him. Well he may not have known it yet, but he wasn't alone anymore. He wouldn't need to be afraid or worried anymore. She was here to protect him. Just like her granpapa of course.
Perhaps his parents where still out there. She would be sad if he had family out there that was worried and looking for him. Maybe they just got seperated. Though chances that they got lost to the sea where high. She knew this was very likely. Someone put him on that lifeboat. Did they make it to a life boat on time? Her grandpapa had speculated that his ship had most likely gotten caught up in a nasty storm. That must have been so scary for him.
This little one had been alone at sea for who knows how long. No food, water or anyone to comfort him. Her blue eyes gazed at his little face. Sleeping peacefully. He looked very comfy. Was he having nice dreams? She hoped he did. He must have been so afraid being alone with no one to care for him.
Celeste just wanted to hug him, hold him close and make sure he felt safe. She looked at the sleeping hoglett. He needed love and care. A family. That's what she and her granpapa would be for him. She ran her fingers gently through his quills again. “Please be okay little one. Don't worry about a thing, your safe.”
She noticed his black quills with red highlights. Such a pretty pattern. What colour eyes would he have she wondered? For that he needed to be awake.
The hoglett still showed no signs of waking up. Appearing to be in a deep sleep. Well nothing to do but keep an eye on him. He was breathing, feeling nice and warm. Already looking a lot better then before. His lips weren't blue from the cold anymore.
“He would be fine.”
“Of course he would be fine.”
“Don't worry to much.”
“Granpapa said he will be allright.”
“Just be patient until he wakes up.”
“He's been asleep for so long.”
“Please be okay little one.”
Celeste couldn't help but worry though pacing around anxiously. She needed something to do, a distraction. She opted to draw something. Blue eyes stared at the paper in front of her for a long time. It was no use. She couldn't focus. Too distracted by the little sleeping hoglett. Her mind kept worrying. Fearfull that something was wrong.
She looked at him again. Such a tiny frail thing. Without thinking her hand started moving the pencill in her hand. Looking at the paper and then back at the hoglett. The young girl had began drawing him. Still with worries in her mind. Ever watchfull of him while she let her mind wander. Focusing on the drawing. On his features. Not thinking about the fact that he was still sleeping for a moment. Capturing that tiny relaxed face, those black quills with red highlights, the blanket that covered him and kept him warm.
Her mind focused, she was calmer now and then she noticed how he started stirring suddenly. Almost dropping her pencil in excitement. The little one was finally waking up. A small gloved hand sluggisly rubbed his eyes. Eyes started to flutter open. His eyes where Ruby red. Such a beautiful colour she thought to herself. Almost like gemstones. Celeste almost squealed with delight. The way he yawned and stretched those little arms was adorable. She looked at him intently. Not making a move. Waiting patiently, watching as he kept rubbing his eyes.
When those ruby eyes looked at her a sense of fear and panic could be seen. He looked around nervously, his quills bristeled and then he tried to bolt. Clumsily he fell of the bed hitting the floor with a smack. The little one let out a small hiss. Before Celeste could react he had pulled the blanket over him attempting to hide under it.
He looked so scared and was probably very confused. Her granpapa had warned her this might be the case. Still it hurt to actually see him so frightened. The hoglett didn't realize she just wanted to help him. That he was safe. He had been trough a lot, freezing from the cold a mere few hours ago. Unconcious for who knew how long. He needed reassurance a hug. Someone to let him know that he's safe.
Celeste put her papers aside and slowly walked over to him. She could see the blanket shaking.
Poor thing.
“Don't be afraid little one.”
She sat down in front of him. Gently and carefully she grabbed the blanket. Slowly removing it while looking at him with a kind smile. While making herself small. Trying to reach his eye level.
“I won't hurt you little one. It's okay. Don't be afraid.”
She reached her hand out to him slowly. Black and red quills bristeled. He started growling and hissing. Ruby eyes darted around the room, a moment later he bolted towards the door. The doorknob was out of his reach. He was too small. A few attempts to jump where made before he tried pushing, and then scratching at the door. Not that it would budge. Celeste slowly tried to approach him. She could hear him hissing. Saw those tiny ears flicking. While black and red quills bristeled.
"O, little one don't be scared i won't hurt you i promise." Her voice sounded calm. Blue eyes looked kind. She wanted to reassure him but couldn't hide the concern in her eyes. He was safe. No one would hurt him. The little one didn't realize it. Celeste wanted to let him know everything would be alright.
Carefully and slowly she tried to approach him. Ruby eyes looked at her with fear. The hoglett let out another hiss before bolting towards the desk, hiding underneath it. She could see how he closed his eyes and burried his face between his arms and legs. Those little arms hugged his legs. Little ears where pinned to his skull. Black an red quills where constantly bristeling. Her breath hitched for a moment she wasn't sure what to do.
Should she try and get closer?
He was clearly afraid.
She just wanted to assure him.
See if he was okay.
He did fall from the bed.
What if he hurt himself?
The girl walked towards the desk even slower then before. With every step she took, another hiss could be heard. The hogletts head stayed buried between his arms and legs. Refusing to move, to look at her.
Scared this little one was so scared, but she had to check if he was okay. That he wasn't hurt especially after hitting the wooden floor with his head. She talked to him with a soft and kind voice.
"Are you you okay little one? That was a bit of a fall. Are you hurt? Don't worry i'm not going to hurt you. I promise. I just want to know if your okay."
"No need to be scared. Your safe here. I'm not going to hurt you. Really i'm not."
Celeste slowly reached out her hand. In that moment the little hoglett opened his eyes and glared at her with his bright ruby eyes, with bristeling quills while hissing. A growl left his throat. Celeste sighed with a sad and concerned look in her eyes. Before getting up slowly and leaving the room.
Ruby eyes kept glaring at her and he never stopped hissing. That's what got to her the most.
Had she done something wrong?
Did she really scare him that badly?
She didn't mean to.
All she wanted to do to help him.
Comfort him.
Make sure he was alright.
Tell him that he's safe.
At this point he was to afraid of her for that.
Did he even understand what she was saying?
What if he didn't?
Did that make him more afraid?
He was just so small a tiny frail looking little hoglett.
She had no idea how old he was an her granpapa wasn't sure either.
For now leaving him alone to calm down was for the best. Besides she still needed to tell her granpapa that the little one was awake.
Celeste looked at him with her blue eyes. Looking a little sad. A touch of concern she couldn't hide showed in her eyes. She walked out of the room leaving a tiny scared and confused hoglet all alone. The sky looked like a mix red, orange, dark blue it was getting late. A brightly coloured sun started to vanish beneath the horizon.
Notes:
What did you think about Celeste's perspective of her and Dusk meeting for the first time. This chapter ended up getting longer then i thought. I hope you liked seeing her perspective on the events.

Chapter Text
The tiny hoglett sat under a desk. His hands were wrapped firmly around his legs. Head buried beneath his arms. His tiny little heart was beating fast. A hissing sound came from his throat. After he heard the door close, he could only faintly hear some footsteps going farther away from beyond the door. Not that he had realized those footsteps were coming from outside. He was feeling very anxious. Black and red quills were raised. Ears flattened.
Where was he?
Where was here?
How did he get here?
How did that girl keep finding him?
Why did she keep following him?
He sat there all alone. Refusing to look up. Trying to shield himself from everything. All of it was scary. To big. To overwhelming. Quiet very quiet. The hoglet still listened for any footsteps, for any sign that the girl was approaching him. Nothing though.
Did he find a good spot to hide? Could she not find him? He slowly raised his head and opened his eyes. Revealing their bright ruby colour.
Light coming in from the windows was slightly orange in colour. Outside the sun was setting. Something he wasn't aware of. The door was still closed. No sounds from beyond the door. Just quiet. Ruby eyes looked at the door and saw no one. Then at the bed no one. No one standing next to the bookcase either or the closet or that wooden chest. The girl had seemingly vanished. Everything was so big and scary looking. He was so small compared to everything in this room. The young hoglett kept looking around for the girl. She was so much bigger then him. Scary towering over him and she somehow found him while hiding under a blanket.
She had been following him which freaked him out. No trace of her now though. Was she hiding somewhere? Or did she dissapear? People did dissapear sometimes. He was always confused how they did that when it happened. Like he was looking and then poof gone all of a sudden. Only to appear again later. Should he explore his surroundings? Maybe figure out where he was.
Being in this room confused him. Last thing he remembered was being on a small boat. Nothing besides that though. Just that he was all alone and cold. No one was with him on this boat. Somehow he woke up here. Wherever this was. He may not have known where he was but at least it was safe under this desk. The scary girl that towered over him hadn't been able to find him here. Exploring was an option one he thought about. Still anxious he crawled forward on his hands and knees to peek out from underneath the desk. Ruby eyes looked around nervously. No one was here. All alone in this room.
His black and red quills where still raised. The hoglet still felt on edge. He was afraid he would get chased again. There was still some light coming in the room from outside. Slowly the tiny hoglett moved around. Everything was so big and overwhelming. Ruby eyes looked around every so often to make sure that no one was coming. Nervous he still felt nervous. The blanket still layed on the ground where he left it. A nice warm and safe blanket. He went up to it.
Warm.
Soft.
Cozy.
He grabbed the blanket and pulled it over his shoulders. It made him feel safe. If he saw anything scary while exploring then he could hide. Ruby eyes looked towards the bookcase. Big very big with some strange things on it. The hoglett had no idea what a bookcase was or that those things where books. Curiously he picked up a small book. It felt strange very hard on the outside but with very thin and soft flowy pieces on the inside. Out of curiosity he bit down on the cover. Tasted kind of gross.
Then he bit on one of the papers and tore it out immediately. That didn't taste any better. Especially the pages with a lot of black colour on it. Weird thing. What even was it? Why did it have those strange pictures on it? Didn't even look like much. Just really weird. Those really thin softer thingies inside tore so easily. Even with his hands he could rip them out easily and he did.
The tiny hoglett wasn't sure what this thing was or what it was for. Not food obviously. His muzzle was covered with black ink from the pages he had bitten on. Pulling out another small book he did the same thing biting on the cover. Ripping out pages. Of course he bit on them aswell. Aside from having a different colour it tasted just as nasty. Then he took one and began knocking it against the bookcase. Causing one of the bigger books on a higher shelf to fall down it fell on the floor right next to him. This made him to jump aside and pulling the blanket over him.
He stayed for a little bit before slowly lifting the blanket up and peeking out from under it. Just barely revealing his ruby eyes. That weird thing almost fell on top of him. Was it going to hurt him? It didn't move though. Carefully he aproached it with the blanket draped over his head and shoulders. He touched it with his hand and then bolted before crawling under his blanket. Nothing happened. It didn't move. Didn't make a sound or anything.
The tiny hoglet peeked out from under his blanket before carefully getting closer again. This book was bigger, almost as big as him. But a lot thinner then those small ones. He started biting on the cover, then the pages before tearing them out. Ears flicked tearing these pages out did make a fun sound.
After that he began to knock it against the bookcase again out of curiousity. To explore the texture of it. Trying to figure out what this weird thing was that he didn't know. A thud shortly after made him jump up and bolt towards the desk again. Covering himself with the blanket as he sat underneath it.
His ears where listening for any sound. Nothing just silence only the sound of the hogletts breaths and heartbeat could be heard. Peeking out from under the blanket again he started looking around. The room was starting to get darker. No one to see. Nothing moved. He slowly moved from under the desk. Still looking around nervously before investigating the closets. His little hands knocked on them.
He couldn't open the doors, but he managed to pull a drawer open. Lots of soft things where in there. Some almost as soft as the blanket draped over his head and shoulders. The soft things had lots of different colors blue, yellow, green, pink, red. Nice colors pretty and bright. Then he climbed into the drawer and threw whatever was inside of it on the floor. Losing interest after a bit. Then ruby eyes looked towards the bed. That's where he woke up. Where he saw that girl looking at him. Nervously the little hoglett walked towards the very big bed. So big.
Suddenly he was reminded of that girl who towered over him. Who kept finding him and following him. It made him feel sort of anxious. She dissapeared, vanished without a trace. No matter where he looked he couldn't see her. He couldn't wrap his head around it. It was kind of confusing.
Everything around him was still big and scary. Making him feel anxious. He kept listening for sounds. Looking around to see if anything moved.
Ready to bolt and hide under his blanket. That warm safe cozy blanket.
The tiny hoglet walked up to a big wooden chest that had caught his attention. Nothing special about it. He tried to open it no luck. To small to be able to reach the lid. He was jumping up to try and reach it. Letting out an annoyed huff when he failed. Those tiny gloved hands reached for the lock and fiddled with it. Not that he knew what a lock was.
After failing to figure out how to open the chest he huffed again in annoyance before moving on as he started to lose interest. This room had a lot more things to explore.
The blanket stayed draped over his head and shoulders this entire time. It was so nice and soft. It made him feel safe.
Warm.
Soft.
Cozy.
Safe.
Very little light came in through the windows at this point. The sun had almost set entirely. Then a creaking sound could be heard. Those little ears flicked in response. It came from the door. Ruby eyes watched nervously as the door began to move. Opening. Revealing that young girl from before. Wearing her blue dress and white sweater. Buttons closed this time. Behind her was a man tall. Very tall. With a very big moustache. "My, my someone has been busy it seems." said the scary tall man.
The little hoglets heart started beating faster. He immediatly headed towards the desk and pulled the blanket over him. Feeling safe and cozy underneath it. He didn't know who that girl was or that man. She was already big and towering over him but that man was even bigger. It scared him.
Curled up in his warm blanket he closed his eyes. Hands were wrapped firmly around his legs. Head buried beneath his arms. His tiny little heart was beating fast and his quills bristeled. Starting to hiss as he could hear the foodsteps getting closer.
"Don't be afraid little one." a voice said sweetly trying to reassure him. It didn't reassure him in the slightest all it did was make those black and red quills bristle even more.
Notes:
Dusk was just exploring a little bit. Being a bit of menace while doing so. I tried to show just how young he is in this chapter and how he tries to understand his surroundings. Celeste and her Granpapa are here to check on him. Not sure he's gonna like the mess that was made. Leaving a tiny hoglett alone maybe wasn't the best idea.
Thank you for reading and i hope you liked it. Any thoughts or theories? Let me know by leaving a comment.

Chapter 6
Summary:
Celeste waited outside with her granpapa. To give the scared hoglet a chance to calm down. Waiting around was hard. She just wanted him to know everything will be allright and that he's safe now.
Notes:
I was gonna have this chapter up earlier but i struggled a lot with writing and started over a few times. At first i was gonna do another pov for Dusk but it just wasn't turning out the way i hoped it would. I know forcing it won't work. So i went with a Celeste pov first this time. Which means next chapter will probably be Dusks pov again.
I hope you enjoy.

Chapter Text
When Celeste opened the door, her eyes landed on the hoglett that was bolting towards the desk. A blanket was draped over his head. He had been exploring. That was good. Making a mess while doing so. She didn't mind it. What would her granpapa think seeing as some of his books were damaged beyond repair. Bite marks on the cover, papers torn and ripped out. He surely was just curious. Hopefully nothing important was damaged. She was feeling kind of nervous about that. Not only because the hoglett was afraid but that he may have been afraid of her because she did something wrong. If she did something differently then perhaps he wouldn't have tried to hide from her or made such a mess afterwards.
"My, my someone has been busy it seems."
Granpapa didn't seem upset. He knew that the hoglett was just curious and didn't mean anything bad by it. Of course he wouldn't be to upset. Which made her feel a little bit better. Just her nerves getting the better of her. She tried not to feel nervous. But how could she when worries clouded her mind.
Did she do something wrong?
Was he more afraid because of something she did?
What could she have done differently?
Was he allright?
Was he hungry?
So many things she worried about. The hoglett was still so young. Merely a baby. His exact age unknown to them. When Celeste told her granpapa what happened, how the hoglett had bolted and tried to hide. His response was merely “At least he's active that's a good sign. Let's just give him some time to calm down.”
Celeste stayed outside with her granpapa. Waited for what seemed like an eternity. She was really worried and wanted to check on him so badly even when knowing that waiting would be better.
“Just give the little one some time to calm down.”
“Everything will be fine.”
“He's gonna be allright.”
The area they where sailing through was quiet and foggy. A calm ocean nothing could be seen untill it was almost right in front of them. That's when Celeste spotted some wood drifting here and there. Clearly remains of a ship. Her blue eyes widened. “Is that?”
“I believe so yes. Remains of a ship and if i had to guess it's likely to be the one our little hoglett was on before he was put onto that lifeboat.”
He didn't have to say anything more. Celeste understood that the hogletts parents, his family probably went down with their ship. Meaning they where lost to the sea. It happened. Though she already thought this was the case, that didn't mean it hurt any less. The hoglett had been very lucky to have survived at all.
If no one had put him on that life boat.... She shook her head not wanting to think about it. But it really dawned on her that this tiny little hoglett had no one to take care of him.
“O, granpapa. How awfull. I hope he's okay.”
“Thanks to you he will be. He was very lucky that you spotted him when you did.”
That was right. If she hadn't found him. Then he wouldn't have survived. The girl almost cried at the thought of the hoglett not making it. Right about now she was even more worried about him. Even if here granpapa didn't say anything she knew he worried too.
So seeing that he had explored upon entering the room had been a good thing. Cleaning up the mess would be a thing to worry about later. Looking at the scattered clothes all across the floor made her think about the fact that they had no spare clothes for this little one. Something to take care of later.
For now Celeste tried talking to him hoping to calm him down. “Don't be scared little one we won't hurt you.” When she started talking he began hissing from underneath the blanket. It made here heart sink. Uncertain and afraid she did something wrong she looked at her granpapa for reassurance. Who looked at her with approval. “Maybe we should introduce ourselves. ”
Celeste still felt uncertain. Nervous to do something wrong. She didn't want to make the little one even more scared. But maybe it would make him feel more at ease if he knew their names. She just wanted him to know that he's safe. That everything would be allright. Nervously with her voice barely a whisper she introduced herself. “Hi there little one. My name is Celeste.”
No response besides more hissing and growling. She was pretty sure his quills where bristeling underneath the blanket.
“No need to be scared little fellah. My name is Nestor. Would you like to tell us your name?”
Only more hissing and growling. Maybe he didn't understand them. He could simply be to young to understand.
Did he even know his name?
Did he understand what a name was?
Maybe the little one truly didn't understand.
Or was he just too afraid.
If only she knew more about him.
How old was he?
Her granpapa who had the same questions just said. “I wish i could take a closer look at him, but that might frighten the little fellah even more. He does need to eat and i'm not sure what he'll be able to eat yet. Don't worry i'll think of something. He'll be allright.”
Celeste looked at her granpapa with concern. He did need to eat something. Guessing that at this stage he might need to eat every few hours or so. That was something he had already told her earlier. That was only a guess. Neither she or her granpapa knew his age. Just that he was very young and tiny.
They didn't even know how long he had gone without eating. That is if they could even get him to eat anything with how scared he was around them. He was lively at least. Hissing and growling from underneath the desk hidden under a blanket.
But how long would this little one stay like this?
If he went without food for to long he would start to get weaker and might get sick. Celeste was really scared for him. The hoglett was safe now. With people here who would care for him but he didn't seem to understand. He was to young. To confused and scared. How she wanted to go up to him and hug him. Reassure this little hoglett. Yeah his quills might hurt her but it would be worth it if that could make him feel safe. Doing so right now might scare him even more. That was the last thing she wanted.
“We should leave him be for now. If he doesn't come out on his own soon i will have to go to him and check even if it frightens the little fellah. For now let's clean up this mess.”
Celeste nodded. Trying to hold back her tears. Please be allright little one. Her granpapa noticed and gave her a hug to reassure her that everything would be okay. It would be surely. She couldn't have found this little hoglett only for him to not make it. No she would make sure he was allright together with her granpapa. They where his family now even if this little one didn't know it yet. She would love him as if she was his older sister.
That's what she was now in her mind. Celeste wanted to make sure he felt safe with his new family. Afterall there was no else who could take care of him. He needed a family that loved him. Who would take care of him. She would teach him everything he needed to know. A sense of deteremination showed in her blue eyes. The look on her granpapa's face told her that he felt the same way. This little one was safe and had a new family. A big sister and a granpapa who cared about him. Everything would be alright.
Notes:
I hope you liked this chapter. Seeing the mess Dusk made through her eyes. They certainly weren't expecting that. This curious baby really did a number on those books. He's still very afraid though and the name reveal for Geralds variant. Nestor which means wise voyager. I thought that really suits him being Geralds variant and traveling the sea of no place with Celeste.

Chapter 7
Summary:
The tiny hoglett was sitting under his warm cozy blanket it made him feel safe even when things around him made him nervous. Like hearing footsteps on those wooden floors. The girl and tall man where here walking around. He didn't like it one bit. Maybe he should just wait untill they dissappear again. Afterall they couldn't find him right?
Notes:
Another Dusk POV with some interesting details
I'm also working on a one shot at the moment so be on the lookout for that. It should be ready sometime next week. The next update should be for when the world you live in is the thing you fear most.
For now i hope you enjoy reading this chapter.
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
The hoglett was still hiding beneath his blanket. Listening to all the sounds around him. Lot's of noise was being made. Ears flicked as he heard footsteps on a wooden floor. Making it creak. One pair sounding heavy another light. People walking around.
Sounded like things where being moved. He didn't like it one bit. Where did that girl come from? Where was she hiding? Oh and that tall man with the big moustache also appeared out of nowhere. His eyes where scary looking. Very shiny with no colour. Light reflected of those eyes. It was very unsettling. He'd never seen eyes quitte like that. The hoglett couldn't figure out how they both got into this room all of a sudden. It made him feel very nervous.
Whenever the tall man was walking around he could feel the floor shaking. Especially when he walked closer not that he ever came too close. Or found him hiding under the desk. Such heavy footsteps. It seemed that neither he or the girl could find him. Still the hoglett felt nervous hearing them move around the room. What where they even doing?
He couldn't see and didn't want to see. Eyes where closed. Hands tugging the blanket close to his body. It felt so soft warm and safe. Black and red quills where raised. Pulling the blanket closer each time he heard a sound. Tiny ears where pinned against his skull as his heart beat fast. If he waited long enough they might dissapear. Like before. People could dissapear he didn't understand how or why.
After a while it seemed to get pretty quiet in the room. No footsteps or voices. Did they dissapear? They could still be around. He felt nervous with his little heart still beating at a fast pace, he stayed hidden.
All alone.
No one could see him.
Find him.
Nervously he peeked out from under the blanket. Ruby eyes looked around.
Where had they gone?
Was it safe to come out?
The young girl was sitting on a bed. With one of those weird thingies in her hand that he had been biting on earlier. The tall scary man with the big moustache and weird looking eyes sat on a chair. That's all he saw before quickly hiding under his blanket again.
They hadn't dissapeared. Not yet anyway. Maybe that would happen soon. Well he just had to wait a bit longer. Untill the tall mann and that young girl dissapeared again. He let out a yawn and rubbed his eyes. Feeling tired after all of that exploring from earlier. Though not feeling comfortable enough to sleep. Sleeping was no fun anyway. He would rather explore. That wasn't an option.
Not with these scary people around. As time went on his eyes started to flutter. Staying still beneath this warm soft and cozy blanket didn't help much with trying to stay awake.
Warm
Soft
Safe
Cozy
Soon enough he found himself drifting of. The world around him became dark as his heart rate and breathing slowed into a sense of calm. All awareness was gone.
The hoglett found himself walking on a ship. Wooden floors creacked. Someone was holding his little hand firmly. Ruby eyes looked. He couldn't make out their face. But he felt safe in their presence. Going for a walk and exploring the deck. Someone grabbed his other hand. Swinging him from side to side helping him jump so high. It was like he was flying. A breeze ruffled his quills pleasantly.
It was so much fun. He wanted to do this over and over again. The ones holding his hands where saying one two three. Each time on three he was flung up juming so high. Giggling in anticipation whenever he heard the number three. Whoever was holding his tiny hands humored him making him jump up like that again and again.
Those hands suddenly tightend their grip. It made him feel anxious. The floor underneath him seemed to move harshly from side to side. He had trouble staying upright. It was a bit scary.
The world around him began to fade abrubtly before he could figure out what was going on. Tiny ears flicked. That warm soft feeling that was wrapped around him from before was gone. He felt a sensation. Pressing gently against his chest. He furrowed his brows. Eyes still closed. Awareness somewhere between sleeping and waking.
Whoever was doing this disturbed him in his slumber. All of a sudden it felt like he was floating somehow. Nothing touching the ground but something was touching his back. His brain felt fuzzy. Voices could be heard. The hogletts eyes struggled to open. Still feeling tired and heavy. On the verge of drifting of again.
“Is he allright granpapa? He's awfully quiet.” said a gentle voice that sounded concerned.
Little gloved hands rubbed his eyes. Before fluttering open briefly. Revealing dazed ruby eyes. Everything looked fuzzy as sleep still hadn't fully left him. Whatever was going on around him insisted he'd wake up. Even if his eyes where drooping. So hard to keep them open. He was still so sleepy. Something was prodding at his eyes. Which made him let out a hiss in annoyance.
A bright light was directed into his eyes. Bright to bright. He let out another hiss. This made him start to wake up properly. Awareness came back. He felt annoyed.
What was going on?
Those ruby eyes flickered a few more times before the blurryness faded fully. He saw the tall man with that big moustache and those weird shiny eyes that light reflected of. Black and red quills bristeled.
Where was he?
What happened?
Why was this scary man holding him?
That tiny little heart started beating fast immediatly. He tried to get out from the mans grip.
“Shhh it's allright little fellah. Just checking if you're allright. No need to be scared.”
Not that the hoglett listened to anything that was said to him. He was way to freaked out. All of this overwhelming to him. All he wanted was to get away from this scary man. With those weird unsettling eyes. Hissing and growling the entire time. Distress clear for anyone to see.
“Shhh calm down. Little fellah. Aren't you hungry? I got some yummy food for you.”
Again the hoglett didn't listen. Only trying to get away from his grip. But the man held onto him tightly. Not that he was hurting him. If anything his quills should have hurt that man. Why wasn't he letting go? Those strange leathery feeling hands that held him him. Firm but without hurting. Only freaking him out.
“It's okay little one. We won't hurt you. You're safe here.” said the young girl sweetly while looking at him in concern with those blue eyes. For a moment the hoglett pauzed. Quills still bristeling while taking in the fact that the girl from earlier was here too. She smiled at him so sweetly. Kindness showing in her eyes. “Don't you want to eat something. You must be hungry.”
A moment later the hoglett started hissing again. All of it felt to big and overwhelming.
Was he hungry?
Maybe so.
If only everything wasn't so scary, big and overwhelming for him. All the hoglett wanted was to get away. Frantically hissing and growling while his quills bristeled and that little heart of his was beating fast.
All of a sudden the grip on him loosened.
He took that oppurtunity to bolt towards the desk.
Towards his blanket.
He jumped of from the bed with a thud.
The young girl looked at him with those blue eyes full of kindness and concern.
He didn't notice. Burying himself under his blanket while hissing and growling while his quills bristeled.
It felt warm.
Cozy
Safe.
The hoglett stayed buried underneath his blanket. Waiting for the girl and tall man to dissapear again. Waiting untill it was safe to explore again. They would dissapear again eventually. All he had to do was wait.
Notes:
It's gonna take some time before Dusk trusts Celeste and Nestor. He's just very confused. Getting a medical exam to check if he's actually still alive did freak him out. Celeste and Nestor are just trying their best to make sure he's okay. So what did you think about little Dusks dream?

A pov that follows Tails as he sets out for his own adventure. Just something i wanted to explore. There might be more one shots like this. Comments are always appreciated and help me with writing.
Have fun reading i hope you enjoy.

Chapter Text
The hoglett never moved from under the desk. Blanket pulled close, ears listening for sounds. He was on high alert ever since waking up in the arms of that tall scary moustache man with the weird shiny eyes. It freaked him out badly. He had no clue as to how he got there. As to what happened... Al he knew was that it wasn't pleasant.
Why did the moustache man prod at his eyes? Shining something bright and painfull in his eyes. It really hurt his eyes. Too bright and overwhelming. Where did that bright thingie even come from? How could he something that bright? It was like he was holding a tiny sun in his hand. Weird very weird and confusing. He was under his blanket ever since he managed to get away.
Feeling safe, warm and cozy under that powder blue blanket. So soft and comforting.
“I have something to eat for you little one.” said the girls sweetly. That didn't stop him from raising his quills though. The hoglett had no intent to come out of hiding. He wouldn't go near her no matter how sweet and calming she tried to sound. She was big and scary. Not as bad as the moustache man. With his weird eyes that reflected light. Who hurt the hogletts eyes with that tiny sun. He decided that out of the both of them this man was the scariest.
The hoglett really didn't like him. Why would he after hurting his eyes with the bright tiny sun?
“Don't you want to eat? You must be hungry?” the young girl asked with a calm and gentle voice. Even if she sounded sweet he didn't trust it. He wasn't planning on coming out from under the desk and leave the safety of his blanket.
What if mister moustache man grabbed him again?
What if he hurt his eyes again with another tiny sun?
He didn't want that so he stayed put. Dozing off after some time. Everything had gone quiet when the hoglett awoke some time later. Curled up in that warm soft powder blue blanket. The room seemed empty. No sounds where heard. His ears flicked as he was slowly waking up. Ruby eyes adjusted to the light as he rubbed his eyes lazily. Sun rays lit up the room. It was morning. As awareness came back so did his nervousness.
Ruby eyes peeked out from under the blanket and darted across the room. No girl with golden hair. No mister moustache man. Something was on the floor though a bit further away. The hoglett looked around nervously. Powder blue blanket draped over his head and shoulders while he kept it wrapped around him with his tiny little hands. Slowly he approached the thing on the floor. It smelled kind of good. The thing was hard on the outside like a weird stone. On the inside though there was some kind of porridge. Not that he knew what it was. Smelled good.
His belly rumbeled. Hungry. He was hungry. Not realizing it untill the moment the smell entered his nostrills. Little gloved hands reached for whatever was inside this bowl, making a mess while doing so. It wasn't easy to grab. Slipping through his fingers. He licked the porridge of his now stained gloves. The hoglett let out an annoyed huff at having so much trouble to grab the food. He put his muzzle in the bowl and tried to eat. That wasn't much better though. Some of the porridge got on his furr around his muzzle. Around his cheecks. It was annoying trying to eat when his food seemed to want to slip away the whole time.
Which let to him letting out some more annoyed huffs. His eyes then landed on a shiny thing on the ground. A spoon. Though he didn't know what it was. Shiny and sparkly as the sun rays reflected of it. Curiously he picked it up and bit on it. It didn't break and tasted kind of metalic. Then he slammed it against the ground a few times.
After that against the bowl before putting it in the bowl and sturring the porridge. This made him spill most of it. He kept doing this untill he accidentally knocked the bowl over. The wooden floor was now covered in porridge. Making it no easier to try and eat it either.
Maybe there where more yummy things to find in this room. Ruby eyes looked towards the bookcase. Those weird thingies he threw on the floor earlier where no longer there. No more weird thingies to be found on the bottom row of that bookcase either.
That was weird and confusing.
What happened?
Did those thingies dissapear?
Just like that girl and mister moustache man?
The hoglett crawled onto the lower shelf to see if there was anything interesting. Nothing to find though. He let out an annoyed little huff. This was no fun. Only some of those weird thingies to be found on a higher shelf. Out of his reach. He peeked up. Maybe he could climb up?
Only to be interrupted from his thoughts when the door opened. His little ears flicked in response. Nervousness returned and he bolted back towards the desk.
It was that young girl with golden hair and blue eyes who walked inside.
“O i see you found the porridge. I'm sorry i didn't mean to startle you. I hope it was good. We weren't sure what you liked to eat.”
The hoglett only hissed in response to her kind and gentle voice.
“Still scared. I get it. All of this must be so overwhelming for you little one. I won't hurt you. I promise you'll see.”
He wasn't paying to much attention to what she was saying. Or that she sounded gentle and sweet. She just appeared out of nowhere again and it startled him.
“Seems like you made a bit of a mess. It's okay i don't mind cleaning it up. If your still hungry i can bring you some more food if you like.”
Whatever she said was only met with more hissing and growling. Black and red quills bristeled once again. Clearly uncomfortable at her presence while he also felled annoyed. Because now that she just appeared again he couldn't explore anymore and that was no fun. He needed to investigate what happened to those weird thingies. Where did they go? He really was confused about that and wanted to tear out more of those papers. Thas was kind of fun. Oh and maybe he could find some other interesting thingies. It would have to wait though. Untill that girl dissapeared again just like before.
Why did people dissapear and appear?
He had no clue.
All he knew was that it happened.
That meant she would dissapear again at some point. When that happened he could explore again. He would figure out where those weird thingies from before went. Maybe they where hiding? Well if that was the case he would find them. Or maybe he could go and try to reach the ones on a higher shelf. For now the hoglett stayed under the desk covered under his blanket while his ears flicked and his quills bristeled in response to every sound.
Notes:
Dusk really didn't like that little medical exam huh. The baby is scared and confused. He's also curious, has made a mess of things and is very interested in ripping out more papers from books. Nestor better keep those somewhere he can't reach. Yes Dusk is calling Nestor mister moustache man which i think is a fun little detail. One i hope you like aswell. Well for now that's how he refers to him in his mind. Wether he'll actually call him that who knows. He's certainly hasn't payed enough attention to hear his name. Or is he just to young to understand? Any thoughts about that? Anything else you noticed?
Thank you for reading and i hope you liked it. Any thoughts or theories? Let me know by leaving a comment.

Chapter 9
Summary:
Celeste cleans up the mess made by the little hoglett. She keeps wondering if he's okay. When things get quiet some time later, her worry only grows. She watches nervously as her granpapa checks if he's all right.
Notes:
Another Celeste pov and a longer chapter. These are always interesting there's only so much I can show in Dusks pov. Especially with him being so little with not really understanding much about the world yet.
Also, there are some other plans for writing. I want to do another one shot for Sonic frontiers this time a Sonic pov instead of Tails pov and there will be another story sort of like this one. But it will follow Shiver who is Sonics variant of no place as a hoglett that's growing up. I think it's interesting to see what he was like when he was younger. I have to see when I start and how to update with writing a few things at the same time. Most are related so that helps. Be sure to check out the other stories of this series if you want to know Dusk and Shivers full story. Just keep a lookout for these i'm not sure yet when they will be posted.
With that enjoy reading.
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
When Celeste and her granpapa entered the room that tiny little hoglett bolted towards the desk. She saw him with a powder blue blanket draped over him. Nesteling under it as soon as he reached that desk. He was still afraid. She knew this, but that didn't mean it wasn't any less painfull to see him like that. Celeste wanted to comfort him so badly. To hold him. Hug him and tell him everything would be allright. It just wasn't a good idea. It would only frighten him at this point. So even if it hurt she left him alone. No hugs. Just leave him be. Granpapa had said leaving him be for now would be for the best. So she started picking up the clothes that where littered around the floor.
As she did a thought popped into her mind. The little one really needed some clothes. They didn't have any in his size. It would also take some time to get a port. Then they'd have to find a store that sold some clothes for him or at least some fabric so she could make something if need be. Thinking about that maybe she could make something out of some old clothes or maybe an old blanket. Which led her to another thought maybe she would need to put out another blanket in reach like the one he was hiding under. He seemed to really like it. She would put it next to the bed. That way the little one could grab it if he wanted to.
Anything that would make him feel more comfortable and less nervous was a win. She'd try and think of some other things later. Nestor cleaned up the floor and removed all of the books from the lowest shelf. Anything they wanted to be out of reach was put on the desk, a table or a high shelf. Anywhere the little one wouldn't be able to reach. Especially very small things. With him trying to bite on everything there was the worry he could choke when putting something small in his little mouth. That would be bad. Now he wouldn't be able to reach those books anymore.
After all that the hoglett was still hidden under his blanket. Sometimes she could hear him let out another hiss. Then after that she went to sit on her bed. Trying to read or draw something. Just to get her mind of him. Distract herself from worrying. That didn't work out to well. Celeste found herself being unable to focus on anything and kept looking at the desk. At some point she saw him peeking out from under the blanket. Such bright ruby eyes looked around. Only for him to hide pretty quickly again. Still to nervous and afraid. He seemed curious which she thought was good.
Part of her hoped that he would come out of hiding in that moment but that would have been a bit to soon for him. He still kept hiding. It hurt seeing that he was afraid. All she wanted was for him to feel at home. To let him know everything would be allright.
That he was safe and had a loving family now. A granpapa and a big sister who cared about him very much. Well that had to wait. It would take time. All she wanted to do was go up to him. Hug him. Comfort him. But she couldn't not yet. Some time later things had gotten awfully quiet. He hadn't peeked out from under his blanket anymore.
No movement from the little one.
No hissing sounds.
No growling.
Just silence.
Celeste was worried really worried.
Was he allright?
Was something wrong?
What if he?
No don't panic.
The young girl walked up to her granpapa and tugged at his sleeve. “Granpapa shouldn't we check on him? I'm awfully worried.”
“I suppose i should do a little check up. Just to make sure everything is allright.”
Celeste watched as he gently moved the blanket. The hoglett layed there eyes closed. She couldn't even tell if he was breathing. He was so still. Her heart sunk. What if he was.... No that couldn't be could it. She could feel her hands tighten grabbing at her dress as she could feel tears threatening to roll over her cheecks at the thought. If this little hoglett didn't make it then why did she find him? What did she do wrong? Maybe it was her fault. If she did things differently then maybe he wouldn't be so afraid of her.
Blue eyes watched as her granpapa gently picked up the hoglett listening to his chest. Nestor proceeded to walk to the bed with the hoglett in his arms.
“Is he allright Granpapa. He's awfully quiet.” her voice gentle full of concern almost cracking.
“I can hear a heartbeat and he's breathing. He seems fine, he's just sleeping. The little fellah must have been tuckered out. I'm going to examine him to make sure everything is allright.”
That made Celeste calm down a little. He wasn't moving or responding though. Was he just sleeping? Or was something wrong and was he in danger? The girl hadn't seen that those brows had furrowed. Hadn't seen that those eyes had fluttered, that he had rubbed his eyes with those little hands of his. She just waited and watched her granpapa. Who opened those little eyes gently. Then used a little flashlight and pointed it into the little ones eyes. Nervously she tugged at her dress. Waiting for her granpapa to tell her that everything was allright. Almost holding her breath.
Then she heard it a little hiss. A sound. A sign of life. He sounded annoyed and not to happy but it was a sign he was alive and reacting. She walked closer standing next to her granpapa almost touching him. She saw the little ruby eyes flicker. The black and red quills bristel. Celeste let out a sigh of relief. He was awake. He was alive. Maybe not to happy about what was going on but at least it seemed he was allright. Moments later the little hoglett had woken up fully. Hissing, growling and trying to get away from her granpapa who was holding him.
“Shhh it's allright little fellah. Just checking if you're allright. No need to be scared.”
Her granpapa's attempt to calm him down didn't work. He was probably startled. Confused and still afraid of them. That was clear to see with the way he was trashing in his arms. Black and red quills bristeled. Ears pinned against his skull. Hissing. Growling. Nestor had put on protective gloves before picking up the hoglett. Good thing he did or those quills would have hurt him.
“Shhh calm down. Little fellah. Aren't you hungry? I got some yummy food for you.”
Celeste looked at the little hoglett with concern in her eyes. She wanted to reassure him. To make him feel safe. What could she do? What should she do? She tried talking to him gently.
“It's okay little one. We won't hurt you. You're safe here.”
Her blue eyes looked at the little one softly. A kind smile on her face.
When he pauzed for a moment. Looking at her with bright curious ruby eyes. Celeste held her breath. Did he understand? Was it working?
“Don't you want to eat something? You must be hungry.”
A moment later the hoglett started hissing again. Quills bristeled more. Any attempt of calming the hoglett failed. The hisses grew more frantic. He trashed around wildly. Nestor let him go as to not freak him out even more. She saw the hoglett bolt towards the desk again. Jumping of the bed with a thud and burying himself under his blanket again.
Blue eyes just looked. She was worried but at least he was alive. Active even if right now that meant he ran from them.
All Celeste could do for now was wait. A bit later she tried to see if he would come out to eat something. “I have something to eat for you little one.” The hoglett hissed again. Not moving from under his blanket. Celeste worried a bit, surely he needed to eat something. “Don't you want to eat? You must be hungry?” It was clear he wasn't going to come out to eat. Maybe he wasn't hungry enough or just to scared at the moment. With no other option she decided to give it another try in the morning. Maybe she could leave the bowl on the floor so he could eat it if he wanted too.
When it got quiet again she checked for a heartbeat gently. The hoglett slept. Not even noticing her checking on him. Or her fingers gently going through his quills. “I hope you have nice dreams little one. Your gonna be allright. Your safe here.”
A little purr escaped from that tiny hoglett as her fingers ran trough his quills. He seemed to feel content. Maybe he was having a nice dream. She really hoped he did.
When she woke up in the morning he was still fast asleep. Breathing gently. The poor thing needed some food. Granpapa had prepared some porridge for him. Though they weren't sure if he would like it. Celeste put the bowl on the ground and a spoon next to it. Hopefully he would eat something while she was gone. He was still very afraid. So leaving him for now was for the best. That way he could eat something once he woke up.
After having some breakfast with her granpapa she returned to the room alone as to not overwhelm him. Besides granpapa was already busy making a bed for the little one. He couldn't sleep on the floor forever. He deserved a nice warm bed.
Porridge was spilled on the floor. No spoon in sight. A little hoglett bolting towards the desk again. A blanket draped over him like before. Celeste was happy that it seemed that he had at least eaten something. It seemed he had made a bit of a mess. Not that she minded this. It seemed as though he might have had some trouble to eat the porridge. Maybe they would need to think of something else. She would gladly help him but right now the hoglett was still to afraid for that. She tried to reassure him by talking with a gentle voice.
“O i see you found the porridge. I'm sorry i didn't mean to startle you. I hope it was good. We weren't sure what you liked to eat.”
The little one hissed in response. Celeste expected as much. Still she kept talking in a gentle tone. Hoping it would reassure him.
“Still scared. I get it. All of this must be so overwhelming for you little one. I won't hurt you. I promise you'll see.”
“Seems like you made a bit of a mess. It's okay i don't mind cleaning it up. If your still hungry i can bring you some more food if you like.”
Celeste spoke in a gentle and calm manner. Trying to soothe him, reassure him. The little one kept responding by growling and hissing though. It hurt even though she knew he was scared. His quills where probably bristeling again beneath that blanket. This whole time the young girl wanted nothing more then to him and hug him. Even if those quills would hurt her. She didn't care. If it wasn't for the fact that this might freak him out more she would have done this.
All that could be done was wait. Give him time. To keep talking to him gently. At least he was doing okay. Eating and responding even if it was like this. The time would come when he would feel comfortable enough to be around her without hiding. That they could sit together at the breakfast table. Her hands tugged at her dress. Celeste felt sadness when seeing him so afraid. He was just a scared little baby. One who needed love and care. There was this determination in her that stayed, even when it hurt, when she waivered and felt uncertain if she was doing the right things to reassure him. This little one was loved. Cared for. He had a big sister. A granpapa. Who just wanted to make him feel at home.
For now Celeste cleaned up the mess while trying to think of ways to make him feel more comfortable.
Notes:
Celeste is trying her best and cares so much about this little hoglett. He'll see that in time.
I'm not sure when the next update will be with trying to work on the other stories. But you got an extra long chapter so if an update takes a bit longer at least there's that.
I hope your looking forward to the other stories i have planned. If you want to see more of a tiny hoglett growing up there's that story of Shiver that i have planned. No promises on when the first chapter will be out. I'm trying to figure out on when to update what. With three stories even if they're all related that's going to be some searching to see how to do that. Especially without spoiling anything from the main story. Let me know if your interested in Shivers story of him growing up by leaving a comment.
Thank you for reading. I hope you enjoyed. Let me know what you think in the comments. Any thoughts or theories you want to share.
Chapter 10
Summary:
The tiny hoglett stays under his blanket. Occasionally peeking out from under it. Once the young girl and mister moustache man disappear, he can explore again. Sitting here is no fun he'd rather explore. Besides, he's curious where those weird thingies have disappeared too. Finding them would be fun. Waiting to do so is boring. How long does he have to wait untill he can explore?
Notes:
Took me a bit longer to write another chapter. I haven't been feeling to weel so it was struggle to write. Here it is though. Lets see how Dusk is doing.
I also posted the sonic pov for the sonic frontiers one shot. I'm also working on a short story for the winter season. Which was planned to be a one shot but i'll probably post it as several short chapters. I hope you'll enjoy that too.
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
The hoglett felt kind of bored. Staying under the desk was no fun at all. It was safe and cozy being underneath his blanket.
Powder blue soft nice, comfy and it made him feel safe. That was the only good thing. What he really wanted to do was explore. He was curious about where those weird thingies went. Maybe he could find them. Wherever they went. Just dissapeared all of a sudden. They could appear again too. Just like mister moustache man and the girl with her golden hair and blue dress. Still all very confusing though. How things and people appeared and dissapeared. Something that always happened even if he couldn't understand why.
He felt a bit sad that those weird thingies had dissapeared. Tearing out the thin parts from inside was fun. It made nice sounds. Then the hard part on the outside. Biting was kind of fun too. Though it tasted fowl. It didn't break as easily which made him more curious as to what this thingie was. Exploring the textures to figure out what it was. What better way to do that then biting. How else would he figure it out? Not all of the thingies where the same though. The outside of some where softer than others. Colours where different. Some had weird symbols or something on it. Which confused him. Where those eyes? Very weird eyes if they where. He'd never seen eyes like that.
There was one that had appeared from up high. Making a loud sound. It startled him. Did it jump? When he took a closer look it didn't move. Maybe all those thingies could move. He didn't see any of them move though. Would they only move if no one was looking? If he stared long enough would he be able to see it moving? Or where they sleeping? Did that one thingie fall out his bed? That must have hurt. Was the bookcase like a bed for the thingies? Did they sleep a lot?
Well for now he had to wait untill the girl dissapeared again. Some heavy footstpeps where heard making his ears flick. Mister moustache man was back. The hoglett huffed in annoyance. It wasn't fun having to wait. Now he had to wait longer which was so boring. Whenever things got quiet he would peek out from under his blanket. Mister moustache man was sitting in a chair. Looking at a thingie without moving. It didn't make any sense. What was so interesting for him to do that? Really confusing.
Though this also made him curious. Also annoyed. He wanted to have fun by tearing out some thin thingies and then bite on them. Making those fun sounds. Sitting here wasn't fun. So boring. That's why he was looking a bit longer at what mister moustache man was doing. Because he felt bored. Even so the tiny hoglet felt on edge. When mister moustache man moved his quills bristeled and he immediatly hid under his blanket again. Closing his eyes, with bristeling quills.
At some the hoglett started feeling sleepy and drifted of. Tiny hands rubbed his eyes lazily when he woke up. No more heavy footsteps. It was rather quiet now. Carefully ruby eyes peeked out from under his blanket. Mister moustache man was gone. But he could see the girl in her blue dress standing next to the closet. She wasn't as bad as mister moustache man. Still he didn't want to come out and explore as long as she was here.
Which meant he needed stay under the desk for longer. Which was boring. So boring. He peeked out again. Ruby eyes watching the girls every move. She hadn't noticed him peeking out from under the blanket. The hoglett watched her curious as to what she was doing. The girl stood next to a closet. Seemed like it had doors that could open. Something he hadn't managed before. To high up. Curiously he looked at she was doing. All sorts of colourfull things in there. Blue, red, yellow green, pink, purple.
The girl was taking things out and putting things in. Looked like some blankets. Clothes maybe. He could see a cream colored shirt. The girl put some blankets and clothes on the bed. Before putting some others back in the closet. He wasn't to sure why she was doing this. Mostly curious. Those colors where vibrant catching his attention. Red stood out the most to him. He liked looking at those colors. A sense of curiousity filled him. Would those blankets be as soft as his blanket?
Maybe he could explore and see for himself later. The hoglett did feel tempted to get out and investigate now. Blue eyes looked at him. “O hi there little one.”
Which startled the hoglett and made him pull the blanket over him again. Black and red quills bristeled nervously. She had seen him. Which made him nervous. Though she didn't sound mean or anything. No her voice sounded calm and sweet.
“Oh i'm sorry little one. I didn't mean to scare you. Everything will be allright. Don't worry.”
The hoglett let out a little hiss. His quills bristeled. Feeling nervous and mostly startled by her looking at him so suddenly.
“Are you hungry? I have more porridge if you'd like. Or maybe you want to eat something else?”
He didn't move from under the blanket. His little heart beating fast. She saw him. The girlw was taller than him. Towered over him and that alone scared him. She sounded gentle though. Not as scary as mister moustache man. Who also had scary eyes. Her eyes looked nicer. Pretty. Sky blue.
“No not hungry? Or do you want to eat something else? Or are you still scared? You don't have to be scared i promise. Everything is going to be allright”
His ears just flicked while he listened. Too nervous to come out or to peek and look. She would dissapear again at some point. He knew that.
“Your so little and everything must be so knew and scary for you little one. I get it. You can come out whenever your ready.”
The hoglett still stayed under his blanket. Not moving listening to her footsteps. Eyes closed, ears pinned back with his arms wrapped around his legs. At some point the footsteps stopped and she started humming. Which sounded nice actually. Curiously he peeked out from under the blanket. Ruby eyes watched and saw that the girl was fiddling with some colourfull blankets. He wasn't sure what she was doing. Some of the blankets seemed to come appart and where getting smaller. She used something shiny to do that. He had no clue what it was. Another weird sort of thingie. The hoglett curiously tilted his head to the side. Confused at what she was doing. He could hear her humming the whole time. Which sounded so nice. How was she making that sound?
Then some heavy footsteps could be heard. That made his quills bristle. He knew before seeing him. Mister moustache man was back. That made him hide under the blanket again. Mister moustache man couldn't see him. What if he had another tiny sun to hurt his eyes with. Quills bristeled at the thought. Mister moustache man was scary. He didn't like him very much. Too big and overwhelming with those weird eyes that reflected light. Little ears flattened.
“I see the little fellah still hasn't come out.”
“No he's been there the whole time granpapa. But he hasn't hissed or growled as much.”
“Aah a good sign though. Just give it some time Celeste. He'll learn soon enough that there's nothing to be afraid off. I figured the little fellah might be getting hungry so i have made more food for him.”
“I hope he'll eat some of it. Huh do you think he'll be able to eat that granpapa?”
“Not ideal i know, but the best i could do for now. This should have all the nutrients the little fellah needs though. We should have some lunch outside in the meantime. It is lovely weather and it's probably for the best to leave him alone to eat.”
Some more footsteps where heard. Some creaking and then it was quiet again. The hoglett waited a bit before peaking out from under his blanket. He looked left and right nervously. Mister moustache man and the girl had dissapeared. Carefully and with his blanket draped over him he moved out from under the desk. Time to explore.
Which was exciting. It had been so boring having to stay hidden. On the floor he spotted a bowl. Something else too. A glass next to it. Something was in it. Smelled good. He felt kind of hungry. Some porridge was in the bowl. Little hands tried to grab the porridge but like last time he struggled with it. Which let to some annoyed little huffs.
The hogletts attention turned to the glass. Some sort of liquid. This wasn't water. Since the glass was pretty full he managed to drink some of it like that. Tasted good. Drinking all of it got difficult pretty quickly. He tried lifting it with his little hands. That resulted in him spilling most of it on the ground. Which mad him let out another annoyed little huff. Still feeling hungry he tried to eat some porridge once more. Gloves where pretty stained as he tried to grab the tasty food. Which was a struggle and annoying. Why was the food being so difficult? His tummy was rumbeling and he just wanted to eat. After deciding he had enough it was time to explore more. Maybe he could find something else to eat. Or something fun to do.
Ruby eyes looked towards a bed. Being drawn to the colourfull blankets on that layed on it. Which made him curious. The girl with golden hair had been doing something with that. He didn't understand what though. Eager to explore and figure that out he approached the bed. Getting on it was no easy task with being so small. He used the sheets to climb. Which took him a few tries but he managed in the end.
Nothing of note except there seemed to be some sort of blankets on here in different shapes and sizes. Not to mention colors. Red, blue, yellow, white, purple and more. None of them as nice as his powder blue blanket. It was bigger and softer. Just better than any of these. He did like looking at the colors. Not having any idea what these where for anyway. To small to sleep under or hide under.
No sign of that shiny thingie that was used earlier to make these blankets smaller. Did it dissapear? He threw some of the small weirdly shaped blankets to the ground in an attempt to find that shiny thingie. Nothing to find though. Ruby eyes looked at the closet. He wondered what kind of thingies where in there. He saw the girl open it earlier. His curiosity made him go there next. The hoglett got of the bed with a thud. Falling onto the small blankets he'd thrown onto the ground.
Standing before the closet he could only reach the drawer. Which he opened. Clothes where in here. Which he rumaged through and threw onto the ground. Then he looked at the closet doors. Opening them was hard. There where sort of knobs on there but the hoglett was way to small to be able reach those. He lost his footing while trying to climb and reach.
That made him land on the floor onto the clothes. The drawer was pretty low and close to the floor so it wasn't a long fall. He let out an annoyed huff. This was no fun.
His attention then turned to the bookcase. None of those fun thingies from before where on the lower shelf. They still hadn't appeared again. Where could they have gone? He hadn't found them on the bed or in that drawer. Wherever they went he would find them. He stood in front of it staring up. There where some more fun thingies over there.
Could he reach them? Would one come down from up high? Ruby eyes stared. They didn't move. Where they still sleeping? Could he see them move if looked long enough? Which was kind of boring. Maybe he needed to get up there to wake them up? The hoglett with the blanket draped over him approached the bookcase.
Looking for a way to climb up. It was hard while keeping a hold of his blanket while trying to climb. He stood on his tippy toes but couldn't reach the thingie. That didn't stop him from trying though. The tiny hoglett jumped fingers almost reaching on of the thingies. He spotted one that had a sort cord hanging out. Which he managed to get a hold of. The hoglett pulled causing the thingie to fall on the floor with thud.
That made him jump and pull his blanket over him. Ruby eyes peeked out and carefuly he walked over. He touched it and hid under his blanket again. Nothing happened. It didn't move.
The hoglett went to it and bit on the cover. With very big symbols on it. He couldn't figure out what those where. Wondering if this where eyes. They didn't move like normal eyes though. Was that thingie sleeping? Little hands pushed a few times but nothing happened. Curiously he tilted his little head. Why wouldn't it wake up? Or move? Or did this thingie not want to do anything as long as someone was looking?
He opened it and tore out some of the thin thingies from inside. That made such a nice sound. Some ended up being chewed on aswell. Tasted fowl. Which made him frown a little. He couldn't figure out what this thingie was. All the tiny hoglett knew was that he liked to mess with it. Untill something creaked. When the hoglett turned around and looked mister moustache man had appeared and the girl too.
It made his quills bristle nervously.
“O, seems like the little fellah has gotten a hold of one of my books and made quiete a mess aswell. It thought i put all of them away though.”
The hoglett ran to the desk again hissing. Pulling his blanket over him. Ears flattened, eyes closed with arms wrapped around his legs. He could not let mister moustache man find him. What if he hurt him again? Shining that tiny sun his eyes. That would be bad. As long as he stayed under the desk with his blanket he was safe.
Mister moustache man wouldn't be able to find him here.
Right?
Notes:
I hope you liked this chapter. Dusk seems to be getting more comfortable around Celeste. He still really likes messing with those books. Nestor needs to be more carefull where he puts his books. The little hoglett just wants to explore and is curious. Who knows what he'll mess with next. Better keep anything he shouldn't get to out of reach.
Thank you for reading i hope you enjoyed. let me know i the comments.
Chapter 11

The tiny hoglett was running around excitedly. Ruby eyes darted around happily. Looking for Someone. Someone who was hiding. He ran around on wooden floors. Warm sunrays reflected of his black and red quills. Little feet pattered while he looked around. Walking up to some barrels and looking behind them. He made some dissapointed huffs when he saw no one.
Ruby eyes looked around curiously, looking for someone. He knew someone was hiding somewhere. A little ear flicked when the wooden floor creaked. Which made him dart towards this sound.
“You found me...” A sweet sounding voice said. The hogletts tail started wagging with excitement. He couldn't see a face. The voice was sweet, kind, warm, familiar.... Made him feel safe. A wide smile appeared on his face. He was pulled into a warm hug which made him purr happily. The hoglett knew he was safe. His nose picked up the smell of lavender. That was nice and very familiar.
He got booped on the nose. A giggle escaped his throat. “Allright my little munchkin time to hide. This time i'm gonna look for you.”
With a giggle the hoglett turned around. Little feet walked over the wooden floors of the dek. Off he went.
Where to hide?
Behind some crates?
Or some barrels? A table?
That was he ended up settling for. Little ears flicked as he heard the wooden floors creaking.
“Where o where could he be?”
“Here?”
“No not behind these barrels.”
“Or maybe here?”
“No hmm. I wonder.”
The hoglett giggled as he stayed underneath the table.
“Hmmm... Darn i'll never be able to find him.”
“It's like he dissapeared.”
The hoglett let out another giggle as he stayed in his hiding spot. Footsteps came closer.
“Well i think i'll never find him. He's to good at hiding.”
“Ooh there you are found you. I thought you dissapeared. You're so good at hiding my little munchkin.”
Someone who's face could not be seen grabbed him and pulled him into a hug. Then began spinning around while holding him up in the air. It was like he was flying. “Such a clever boy. You did so well.”
The hoglett felt happy and safe. When he was put down on the floor someone else walked up to him. Someone who smelled like coffee. He couldn't see his face but the voice was also familiar. A deep low voice. “Do you want to fly again?” Which made the hoglett giggle.
He grabbed his left hand while the other person with the gentle voice grabbed his right hand. They let him skip on the wooden floors and made him jump up high making it feel like he was flying. This was so much fun. Letting out little giggles the whole time.
It started getting loud. A lot of voices talking. Suddenly it was pretty busy on the deck. “Carefull now little one.” Someone said as they almost stumbeled over him. He was tiny compared to everyone walking around him. Then someone picked him up. The one with the gentle voice. Who smelled like Lavender.
“Let's go inside time to take a little nap.”
The little hoglett's ears flattened, he didn't like that. He wasn't tired at all. Taking a nap was no fun. More exploring playing that's what he wanted to do.
Ruby eyes didn't look amused. He crossed his arms while pouting.
“There my big lad you listen like a good boy. After your nap we'll play some more.” the one with the deep voice said.
It didn't stop him from being in a bad mood. He didn't want to take a nap. That wasn't fun. The hoglett wanted to play more and jump up high. Making annoyed little huffs. This was no fun. He wanted to have more fun. Little hands reached to the one with the deep voice.
“You know what, how about i take you to the crows nest? After that promise to take a nap like a good lad.” he said with a sigh. Taking the hoglett into his arms.
Ruby eyes widened in excitment. He'd never been to the crows nest. Something he was really curious about but never allowed to explore. The hoglett hummed happily as he got closer and closer to the crowsnest. Grabbing tightly on to the man's jacket with his little hands.
His little heart pounded nervously. This was going to be fun. What was up there? He'd seen other people in the crows nest. But it would be the first time he'd go. Nervoulsy he buried his head in the jacket. Excited and nervous.
Somehow the crows nest looked so much bigger then other times. Growing taller and taller. Making him look away.
It looked alive.
Growing.
Moving.
Like a scary monster.
Black and red quills started bristeling. He started letting out some hisses. That crows nest grew ever taller, bigger, scarier. The hoglett let out a whimper. Now grabbing on even more tightly.
“What's wrong lad? Are ya allright?”
The hoglett shivered. Whimpered while his quills bristeled.
“I told you he's too tired c'mon let me take him to his bed. He needs a nap. C'mon my little munchkin.”
Ruby eyes looked confused. Couldn't they see that crows nest growing? It was like it was alive. As he was brought inside it seemed to grow even taller. Looking at him with bright yellow glowing eyes. A scary looking monster. He whimpered. Black and red quills bristeled. He tucked his head away to avoid the scary glare of those eyes from that crowsnest.
“I suppose the little lad is taking his nap then?” Someone else said. A different but also a familiar voice.
“Yeah poor thing is to tired. He'll be moody if he doesn't get enough sleep. Getting him to eat later when he's too exhausted will be impossible so it's best he takes a little nap.”
The hoglett felt fingers running trough his quills. It was soothing and nice. Making him relax. His eyes started to droop.
“There there everythings allright.” the gentle voice said.
Fingers kept running through his quills. He started feeling drowsy and let out a yawn.
Not tired. Not tired at all but for some reason his eyes refused to stay open. He didn't want to sleep. That wasn't fun. But he did feel relaxed.
Safe.
Warm.
Away from the scary looking crowsnest. It had dissapeared as soon as he got inside. Now gone. While being in this warm safe embrace he stopped thinking about the scary crows nest. All he felt was warmth, safety. Curling up into it as those fingers ran through his quills gently. Eyes fluttered and got so so heavy.
Safe
warm
cozy.
He couldn't help but doze off. Everything around him got dark as he did.
Ruby eyes fluttered open. He felt something soft around him. A blanket. His powder blue blanket. He rubbed his eyes with those little hands. Finding himself under the familiar desk. In a familiar room.
Now shrouded in darkness.
Notes:
