Chapter 1-Spiderman

Dark clouds loomed over Earth 42, casting shadows that danced ominously over the secure base of the U.N . Inside, steel walls echoed the quiet hum of machines, illuminated by the cold glow of fluorescent lights.

Guards patrolled the hallways, their boots echoing against the polished floors, the only noticeable sound being the raindrops that splashed against the light blue windows.

The first guard yawned, rounding around a corner with his flashlight beam slicing through the darkness. Taking a few more steps around the dark alley, the guard took a moment to catch his breath.

He'd been walking for quite awhile now and his legs were starting to give up on him. Even so, he knew he couldn't be slacking on the job now.

When he was taking this time to catch his breath, the guard started inspecting the area. The setting and dark atmosphere was already making him uneasy. Even with the firearm in his hand or the other troopers that weren't too far from him, it still didn't change that building up feeling that was growing by the second.

He felt vulnerable. Like at any moment, one could be taken out at any moment without so much as a cry for help.

" Out of all the places they could have assigned me, why did it have to be here?" He muttered under his breath.

Beep Beep.

" Trooper, what's your status report over there?"

The First guard answered his intercom. " It's all clear over here. Same old, Same old."

" What's the status of the subject?"

" Sir, I mean no disrespect when I say this, but that " Thing" has been in stasis for over a year by now. With all the other safety measures the U.N added over the years, I don't think anyone is gonna be breaking in anytime soon."

" I. Don't. Care. You will do your job and do another scan around the area. Do I make myself clear?"

" Yes Sir." The Guard sighed, turning off his intercom "They really don't pay me enough for this shit"

Once he continued walking, a sudden noise could be heard from behind him. The guard paused, frowning at the flickering overhead lights, aiming his firearm in the process.

" Hello? Who's there?" He asked sternly. " Show yourself!"

Nothing. No noise or sound. Yet the noise from earlier sounded like it came from around the corner.

Approaching carefully, the guard took slow steps, his heart beat rapping increasing as sweat came down his forehead. Hiding behind the corner, the guard took one small peak— beaming his flashlight to see the culprit.

The culprit turned out to be a small cat, its eyes staring directly at him.

The guard sighed in relief.

" You scared me" The guard sighed in relief, moving closer " Just where did you come from little guy?"

Once the guard approached closer, the sudden relief was then overwashed with the sense of fear and complete shock. The flashlight that accompanied him examined what the animal attracted the small critter in the first place.

What laid before him was no other than one of the of his fellow officers.

Their eyes lifeless, like something had drained the lungs out of them.

The guard started hyperventilating, the feeling of dread filing his body for him to react quickly into the intercom.

" Hello! This is Trooper 1610. We have a trooper down! There's been a breach! I repeat, there's been a breach!"

No answer. Just static.

" Can anyone hear me! There's been a-"

A mechanical tentacle suddenly wrapped around his neck before lifting him up in the air. The guard barely had enough time to react as he felt himself choking, his survival instincts forcing him to drop his firearm while he scrambled his arms in a desperate attempt to free himself. He tried to let out a scream, a cry for help, yet his breath came out short.

*Snap*

The guard's soft pleads were suddenly silent, his body now lifeless before being thrown to the ground. Emerging from the shadows, a familiar figure emerged, content with the now silent room.

In the span of minutes, the figure manoeuvred through the base with lethal precision. Guards were never a challenge; her tentacles, augmented with her brilliant scientific mind, moved with inhuman speed and dexterity. The corridors rang out with muffled thuds and the quiet signs of lives extinguished. Each agonised breath stolen only fueled her forward.

As they approached the main lab, the pulse of excitement thrummed in her veins. Inside lay the prize, a container rumoured to hold an experimental weapon, one which the U.N tried to secretly use before deciding against.

The figure raised her wrist communicator, crackling with static as she bypassed the security protocols.

" Access granted," the machine chirped, and the heavy door slid open with a hiss. The sterile lab was vast, filled with looming machines and flickering screens. And there, in the centre, shrouded in a cocoon of glass and steel, sat the container.

Just as victory seemed within her grasp, alarms erupted. Red lights blared to life, illuminating the lab in a sinister glow. They cursed under her breath; it seemed her entrance had not gone unnoticed. Before moving towards the container, a wave of guards surged in through the door behind her, guns raised and shouting commands.

" Open Fire!"

With an ease born of chaos, They sprang into action. Her tentacles lashed out, smashing through the first line of guards like a storm through brittle trees. Bullets pinged off the high-tech armour she wore, but she remained unyielding, every attack calculated, every movement fluid. Panic ensued as more guards flooded the room, their confidence crushed beneath their determined strike.

Within minutes, every guard present was taken out one by one. The darkness within the room proved to be a huge disadvantage. Slowly, They had taken all but one out. The last one crawled away in a desperate attempt to survive before falling limp on the floor, unable to continue on due to the wounds that he sustained in the fight.

"Sorry, gentlemen," they said with a smirk, their voice a mix of honey and venom, "but this is where I take my leave."

Using their mechanical tentacles, they swiftly moved the container past the bodies on the floor. With the container secured, they made their way through the broken faculty with one of the greatest weapons this world had to offer them.

No one would be able to Stop them.

Not even.

The great

Spiderman.

****

Okay, let's do this one last time, yeah? For real this time.

A comic book is placed on the table with the pages flipping before revealing the cover of Spiderman.

My name is Miles Morales. I was bitten by a radioactive spider. And for the last four years, I've been the one of many Spider-Man. I think you know the rest.

You see I saved the city from Spot and save my dad from Miguel's canon shenanigans.

On the big screen of New York, Spot is taken away while the city of New York cheer for Miles who had just saved the day who, despite his bruises, still stood tall along side the spider gang who saved him from earth 42.

I finally got the chance to tell my parents about who I am.

Miles is seen talking with his parents, he looks away from their gazes, feeling ashamed from lying to them for so long. He was taken back when his parents rushed in to give him the tightest hug imaginable,  expressing their love to him with words.

Though, that didn't stop me from being grounded of course.

Miles hangs out with the spider gang at his place, his parents seemingly getting along with some of his friends.

After proving that canon events were nothing but a hoax, it seemed like I had changed the mind of many Spider-Man in the society.

Including some of my friends who did everything they could to make up for what happened during my escape at HQ years earlier.

During the chase back home, I managed to recoiled with Gwen.

Miles and Gwen talk with one another before sharing an embrace with a hug. He hears Gwen sobbing while repeatedly apologizing and thanking him all at once.

He is unable to hold his own tears any longer, muttering nothing but reassurance and sweet things to her.

And just when things couldn't get any better.

When things were set and done, Miles stands before a crowd of Spider-Man after stopping Spot, only to feel himself being pulled into a warm embrace.

He barely had enough time to register his thoughts when he felt Gwen's lips pressed against his, earning him a round of applause from the Spider gang, Pav being the loudest.

" Yeah!!! YESSSSSS!!!!" Pav shouted, grabbing Hobie by the collar of his shirt before shaking him violently.

Ever since then, things have been going great, I guess.

Flash-forward Three years, Miles and Gwen are laughing with one another in her room. Gwen pushes him down with one of her pillows, her laughter causing a smile on George Stacy face from outside the living room.

Though, that hasn't stopped my credibility from crumbling further.

" I wish this wasn't real, but it is! Spider-Man promoting baby powder backfiring once again?! New Spider-Man, you're a public menace!" Jameson yelled at the screen, slamming his fist on the table.

Besides my personal life, being Spider-Man has its moments. Sometimes good.

Miles swings by and webs up a thief trying to steal someone's bike, earning him many praises from the people around him.

Sometimes bad.

During his daily patrol with Gwen, the pair of them are swinging by the city only for him to notice a little girl waving at them. Miles tries to wave back only for him to get hit in the face by a drone flying by.

But no matter how many times I get hit. No matter how many times I struggle. I always find a way to get back up.

Moments within his life flash before his eyes. Him getting knocked down and struggling to get up from the fight with the villains of world.

But eventually, he gets back up. He always does.

Because if I learned anything throughout my time with those who understood me, it's that no matter what happens, Spider-Man always finds a way. And nothing is going to stop me from trying.

Miles swings past a building with glass walls, Gwen and some of the spider gang swinging alongside him

He flicks his wrist and grabs the web to pull himself high in the air. He feels himself leaning back while casually putting his hands behind his neck.

Despite having his mask on, Miles closes his eye while enjoying the breeze of his descent.

Because I'm Spider-Man. And nothing can change that.

" SPIDER-MAN!!"

Ouch. Spoke too soon.

****

Miles snaps backs to reality and finds himself in a middle of a car chase. He dodges gun fire in the nick of time, sticking himself on top of truck containing money.

" Alright! Let's do this!" Miles smiled through his mask.

He can hear the police sirens behind him, the chase grabbing the attention of nearby civilians.

The robber inside pressed on the brakes, causing the police car up front to crash against it with full force. Miles stumbles and loses his footing, causing him to swing against a light pole.

He swings by building to building, still on their trail behind them.

" Geez guys, take it easy." Miles' smugly conveys, " My mom would kill me if I got this tuxedo beneath my suit damaged."

The doors behind the box truck opens. Two more robbers with firearms start firing at his direction. Miles dodges the assault by swinging around the block, leaving him behind in the chase.

He is hoping he'll cut them off. He hears his name being called from below by pedestrians.

" SPIDER-MAN!" Miles gives a quick wave gesture before swinging faster.

" Save me a churro later, will ya!" He called out loudly.

The truck crashes through a couple of cars, the sirens of police cars following after them.

" HAHA!!" The getaway driver pressed the gas further.

Ahead of the chase, screams could be heard shouting. A mother's voice shouts for their child who is still on the crosswalk.

" Charlotte!!"

The little girl barely reacts in time when the truck is mere feet away from hitting her.

In the nick of time, Miles swoops in and saves her, landing only a few away from the mother and nearby crowd.

" You okay?" He asks her softly. The little girl nods profusely while her mother rushes between them.

" Oh! My Baby!!" The mother sobs in fear and relief, hugging her daughter tightly. She tilts her head up slightly to see Miles keeping his distance out of respect.

" Thank you..." She spoke softly, her tears flowing down her cheeks.

Miles stares at her for a moment before giving a slight salute with one hand.

While this was going on, the robbers have a moment to catch their breath.

" That should buy us some time. Step on it on Gary!!"

The man behind the wheel swirls the wheel, taking a sharp turn that the cops cars behind him couldn't make it time. The truck manages to take a clear alley way that is now blocked by several police cars that crashed against each other.

A few more sharp turns within the alley way and the truck manages to get back on the main road.

" Yeah, Haha!!" One of the robbers exclaimed, noticing nothing behind their trail. " That's what I'm talking about!"

" Let's go! Home sweet home baby!" His partner exclaiming.

" You said it brother!" He steps on the gas with more force, the car moving even faster.

Making their way in the Brooklyn bridge, the truck is close to crossing as it speeds past the cars up ahead. From way behind, the police cars from before are on their trail again.

" Almost there!!" The man behind the wheel presses the gas harder, the truck only a few feet away. " First class here we come!!"

They were so close, they could almost taste it. Just a little further and—

*SCREEH!*

The man behind the wheel along with his partner feels the truck crash suddenly slow down.

" Gary, what the fuck?! Why you slowly down?!"

" I-I'm not!!!"

The robber is sure he's pressing the gas. Why were they slowing down?

He checks out the window only for his eyes to widen. In front of truck was no other Spider-Man, his back against the front of the truck while his feet was trying to plant themselves on the ground.

Before they knew it, they felt the back of the truck begin to lift itself. The two other robbers inside falling back by the force.

" Hmm!!" Miles grunts with the force he's using and manages to completely stop the truck from moving all together.

" I'm gonna kill him!!" The robber on the wheal pulls out the firearm in his pocket, preparing to end this once and for all. " No way I'm letting this money slip by some spider freak—WHAA—"

Miles turns and starts lifting the truck above his head, the robbers on the feel crashing against the windshield inside.

" Hey guys" He greets, waving one hand at them casually. " Wanna see something cool?"

The robbers inside shake their heads profusely. They did not want to see what his definition of cool meant in this context.

" To bad. My vote counts as majority rules."

Miles slams the truck over his head, causing it to land upside down. The windows cracked by the force and smoke starts to emerge from the engine. The robbers inside crawl out whatever opening they could find and fall to the floor.

Miles yanks their firearms away with his web, then webbing them upside down against one of the wires.

" See? Wasn't that cool?" Miles says, dusting himself off.

" No." One of the robbers groans in pain while hanging upside down. " No, it wasn't."

****

The police arrive on the scene and handle the situation. The robbers are swiftly apprehended and taken away. Some police stay to handle damage control and prevent more civilian involvement.

Spider-Man approaches two officers and they greet him.

" Couldn't have done it without you Spider-Man."

" No need to thank me. It's what I do." Miles shrugs, not wanting to take all the credit, " For what it's worth. I don't think those guys would have made it far either."

They all share a chuckle.

" The one day Captain Morales takes the day off, this happens."

Ah Yes. His dad. The police captain. The person who refuses to take a day off unless it was for something important.

Today was that day. He almost wonders what for—

Oh Shit.

He lost track of time!!

Shit. Shit. Shit. Shit. Shit!!!!!

The phone within his pocket started to vibrate, breaking him out of crisis.

" Excuse me once second." He tells the officers before distancing himself away from them.

With shaking hands, he takes the phone out slowly before answering the phone. He doesn't even need to see who was calling him to know who it is.

" Hey...Babe." Miles weakly answers.

" Miles! Where are you?! Ganke just texted that you stormed off in the middle of the ceremony!"

Miles could feel his ears ringing from the sudden  outburst of Gwen's voice through the phone.

" I'm sorry, I'm running a bit late. I got stuck in a situation."

" Wait...do I hear police sirens?"

There was a long awkward pause.

" No..." He muttered weakly.

" Miles."

" I don't hear any sirens."

" Miles, I swear to-"

" Tell you what, I'll call you when I get there!"

He winces after her voice gets louder, pressing his phone to end the call. He shoves the phone in his pocket before swinging off in a hurry.

" Great going Morales!" He thought to himself.

****

Gwen groans. " They're gonna call his name up soon."

" He'll make it. I'm sure of it."

Near her were Hobie and the rest of the spider gang. All of them including Ham and Peni wore some kind of disguise to blend in. They were watching from far away to avoid too much attention.

" Reminds me of my graduation ceremony. Except Rhino came in and started trashing the place." Pav shivered at the thought of that day, Hobie chuckling in the background.

In front of ceremony, Rio and Jefferson Morales sat with the other parents watching each student getting up stage and grabbing their diploma.

" He should be back by now!" Jeff muttered in frustration, looking through his phone.

He always already getting news reports about the latest robbery that Spider-Man, their son, had stopped.

" Jeff, dear. Let's try to calm down, yeah." Rio's hand rubbed against his leg to calm him down. " Besides, he knows what will happen if he misses this on our only day off."

On stage, the principal finishes his opening remarks and is ready to make the announcements of this year's academic students.

" It's an honor to to announce this year's salutatorian, please welcome, Miles Morales!" The announcer called, earning the usual round of applause.

The only problem was that he was no where to be found.

" Miles Morales?" The announcer called again.

Jeff only groaned while leaning back on his chair and Rio's eye twitched slightly. From the chairs with the other students, Ganke cringes from his seat.

" He's so dead after this." He muttered to himself.

From afar, Miles swings down to close by to a building to change himself into his attire. He barely manages to put his suit on in time before walking out of nowhere to reveal himself to the crowd.

Hearing his name be called on stage, he manages to rush up the stairs in time before walking to shake the principal's hand.

In the distance, Gwen facepalms seeing his disheveled look and rushed attire. Peter B. and Hobie laugh at the sight as well.

Miles shakes the hand of the principal and goes to the mic to prepare his speech. His could already feel the sharp gazes from his parents. It was only when he saw Gwen and the others in the distance that regained his confidence.

" Good Morning esteemed faculty and families of my fellow graduates. Sorry for the late arrival, there was line to the bathroom." Miles joked, earning small chuckles from the audience.

" It's an honor to be standing here today. I didn't expect myself to be up here in front of you or getting this diploma. When I first got her at visions academy, I didn't really...fit in at first. It was big adjustment to make but... I made it work."

Miles takes a deep breath before sighing.

" Right before my uncle passed, he once told me that I was on my way. And to keep going. Before, I never really understood those words. But I think I do now."

He takes one glance at his parents, their expressions softening after hearing him speak of Uncle Aaron.

" We all lost someone or something precious to us. But I like to think that we're honoring their memory by standing here today. Because If I've learned anything these past four years, it's that we gotta live life to the fullest in the time we have now. To keep moving forward even when it seems impossible."

Miles takes another glance at his friends at the back. They all share a sentimental smile at him and he smiles back.

" And I know that now more than ever. And I say it today of all days because...we only ever live one life. So don't waste being someone you're not. Make yours count and fight for what you believe in, no matter the odds."

He concluded his speech, earning the applause from the crowd with Gwen in back being the loudest.

Rio wipes the tears on her eyes and comforts her husband who is doing the same with tissue he pulled out.

****

" Let's get this party started!!" Ham yelled in celebration.

Within the residence of the Morales's rooftop, the spider gang along with Miles' parents had set up a party in celebration of his graduation.

" Keep it down Looney toons! We're grilling over here!" Jeff yelled, flipping burgers with George Stacy.

The former and current police captains were busy barbecuing the food for everyone.

" If you were to tell me four years ago we'd be barbecuing for a bunch of superheroes, I would have laughed at your face." George said, preparing to sauce for the ribs he was making.

" Right back at ya bother." He and Jeff gave each other a fist bump.

All around the party, each and everyone was enjoying the food and drinks that everyone decided to pitch in.

" And this is me and Gayatri first date before we started dating. Don't we look sweet!" Pav showed his picture to the trio of Margo, Hobie and Ganke.

All three of shared concerned gazes after examining the photo closer. In the photo, Gayatri seemed completely normal. Pav on the other hand looked as if he was going through a phase.

" Oh-"

" Wow..."

" Yeah...sure." Margo muttered to herself. She wanted to avoid hurting his feelings.

Meanwhile, Peni was having a quick chat with Rio about how her life was going. Ever since the Spot incident, she was able to talk more about herself and heal from all the trauma she gained.

Having these conversations with people was helping her get out of her shell.

It was until Peter B. walked by to hand her something.

" Hi Peni, wanna hold my toddler for me!" Peter B. shoved Mayday into Peni's arms.

" Oh...umm." Peni awkwardly held the toddler. She tried to call out to him but Peter B. went to go talk with Noir and Ham.

" A-Auntie...Peni!" Mayday managed to speak. She was getting better at saying names now.

Peni stared at her for a moment. Then she started bawling her eyes out, Rio placing her hand on her shoulder to ease her a bit.

Through the small party, Miles and Gwen stood on the balcony. They watched their friends from below, enjoying the sight of the peacefulness around them.

" You know, I didn't expect you guys to go all out for me. Then again, it's me we're talking about." Gwen rolls her eyes at him.

" Dork." She says, and flicks a potato chip at him. He purposely moves to where the chip can hit his forehead.

They both laugh. It was moments like these that made them feel at home with each other, away from the responsibilities of the world around them.

It was why Miles cherished moments like these, even as something small like this.

" Sorry about earlier, I didn't think the chase would last that long." Miles said through his smile.

" It's fine. I was more worried about what your parents would do to you." She says casually, leaning her hands on the metal rail.

" Dodged a bullet there, didn't I?" Miles joked, and leaned in closer.

" Damn right you did." She smirked, feeling his hands wrap around her stomach.

Miles pulled her closer until her back was against his chest, and his hands were wrapped around her waist. Gwen smiles warmly with her hands caressing his.

They sway slowly with the beat of the music and admiring the view of the party below.

" Doesn't this remind you of anything." Miles tells her as he nested his head on her shoulder.

Gwen chuckled. She knows exactly what he was talking about. " It felt like yesterday when you took me here. Time sure does fly, huh?"

" I remember when you called my parents by their first names." He joked, and raised one of his eyebrows at her.

" Ugh! Don't remind me!" Gwen cringes at the memory. Her first impression to his parents was something he'll never let her live down.

" C'mon, you gotta admit you left quite a first impression."

" Totally. Not like I dragged their son into a multiverse crisis." She sarcastically remarked, cringing when the memories flashed into her mind.

" I can't believe it's been three years since then..." Miles hesitated, remembering the events that happened all those years ago.

He remembers when she first showed up in his room after being a year apart. He still remembers chasing her through a portal which lead to him being a fugitive of the spider society.

Those were hard times that neither of them liked to bring up much. The betrayal, the heartache, the moments of them close to dying to the Spot. It was something stung a bit between them whenever it was mentioned.

A moment of silence washed over them.

" Yeah." Gwen muttered, breaking the silence with a frown.

She felt his grip tighten around her. She thinks it's his way of bringing her back down from those thoughts." But hey, everything out alright, right?"

" All thanks to you fixing my mistakes." She replied sadly, and starts to feel teary eye.

" Hey." Miles softly said, shifting her body to face him.

He lifted one of his hands to her face, cupping her cheek and wiping her tear that she didn't know was there with his thumb.

" No more of that. I forgave you and everyone else a long time ago. Even when I was mad at you at first, you were always there, ready to help. If it weren't for you getting the band together to save my dad, who knows what couldn't happen. I'd be a fool if I turned you away after everything."

Gwen weakly chuckled. " Heh. Sometimes I wonder how you do it."

He tilts his head slightly. " Do what?"

" Forgive. Even when people like me wronged you. You even forgave Miguel despite what he did to you." Miles shrugs and smiles lightly.

"  Well, we're still at odds sometimes, but holding grudges ain't my style. My Uncle tried to kill me and yet I forgave him."

" And that's what I mean." Gwen replied, smiling softly at him. " You accept things for what it was. And you kept going, no matter the odds. And something that I'd admit I'm inspired by."

Miles stares at her for a moment.

" Heh" He lets out wet laugh. " Didn't expect our conversation to turn into a Ted talk."

" Says the guy who gave everyone a Ted talk during his speech earlier." She teased him, giggling when his eye twitched for a moment.

" Shut up." He lowered his head, bringing his lips close to her face. Gwen closed her eyes and squealed when he peppered kisses all over face.

" M-Miles, Stop! Knock it off~" She kept giggling, pretending to try to get away from his lips, her body trapped between his arms that circled her waist.

He stopped his assault and grinned like an idiot.

" Can't help it when I have the most beautiful sunflower right in front of me."

" Just beautiful?" She smirked with a raised eyebrow, his lips were dangerously close to hers.

" Don't ruin the moment." Miles whispered, his lips inches away from hers before connecting slowly.

When their lips connect, it was slow at first. Deliberate. Sensational.

Gwen's arms wrap around his neck while Miles pulls her waist closer to him. She hums softly, feeling the possessive warmth of his hands on her waist.

Time seemed to stand still as they lost themselves in it, everything around them fading in the background. It was only when a voice was heard that cause them to separate.

" Oi! Lovebirds! Enough with the PDA!" Hobie's voice echoed, bringing the two back to reality.

Miles and Gwen separate from each other with fluster gazes, looking away in opposite directions, unable to meet the gazes of everyone below, especially their parents.

" Even after all these years, they're still so shy!" Peter B. jokes with the others laughing right behind him.

Jeff shake their heads with Rio sighing, the PDA between their son and their daughter in law was something they weren't use to, even after all these years.

" And he wonders why we tell him to keep the door open." Jeff pinches the top of his nose in disapproval.

"It gets worse every year, I swear." George added with a sigh.

Miles snarls at everyone's teasing, muttering something that no one could make out. His demeanor softens when he feels her hand holding his.

" Come on, everyone's waiting for us to bless the food." She turned to look at him, her smile making him melt away the embarrassment from earlier.

" Yeah. Let's go." He replied softly.

****

The party seemed to last an entirely for them, but everything came to a close when dusk approached, and the spider-gang bid their farewells. All except Gwen and her dad were left.

As George was having a casual conversation with Miles' parents in their living room, Miles hung out with Gwen in his bedroom, with the rule of the door staying open.

" Some party." He whispered and heaved a slight sigh. " As of right now, I'm all tuckered out."

" To think dancing with me would get you this tired." Gwen teased.

" Hey, I wasn't gonna let you show me off at my own party. I still have a reputation to uphold, remember?" He said with a cocky grin.

" Whatever helps you sleep at night Einstein"

He gasped, pretending to be offended. " How rude."

She rolled her eyes at him and collapsed on the bed with him, snuggling her way to his chest.

The spider couple said nothing after that. Just pure silence and their presence keeping them comfort.

That was until Gwen broke it.

" Before I forget, I need to give you something."

She sits up from him and Miles titled his head at her.

" What is it?" He asked.

" It's a surprise." She replied, her voice shy and hesitant. " But you have to close your eyes. No Peaking!"

" Gwen, you can't be serious."

" Come on! Pretty please!" She pouted, and pleaded with her infamous puppy eyes.

Miles sighs, giving in. " Fine."

He covers his eyes with his hands and hears her moving to grab whatever she needed.

" Can I open them now?" He asks her.

" Give me a second."

He waits another few seconds until he feels her hands setting his down from his face.

" Okay. Open them."

Miles opens his eyes and looks down, seeing a small open pendant with a picture inside. He remembered that photo of them few months back in Paris, smiling like a couple of dorks while he took the photo.

Next to the picture on the back of the cover had a few words that he made out.

" No matter where you are, no matter how far you may be, I'll love you always."

Miles takes the pendant from her, holding it with two hands and caresses the photo with his thumb.

" Gwen..." Miles muttered, lost for words.

Gwen let out a small, nervous giggle, turning away shyly. " I wanted to get you something special but I didn't want to be to plain. Or too much."

When he doesn't say anything, her confidence sweeps away quicker than when it arrived.

" B-But if don't like it, that's fine. It's super corny anyways and—"

Miles presses his lips against her, shutting her up and letting her melt into the kiss. He pulls back and leans his forehead against hers and smiles faintly.

" I'll carry it with me wherever I go. Forever and always."

Gwen weakly chuckles" Look who's been corny now?"

" Only for you Mi'amor." He whispered, tucking her hair away and leaning in for another kiss.

That was until his father voice echoed to his room.

" Miles! George wants to head out now and said you better not be doing the devil's tangle in there!"

Gwen barely contained her laugh while he sighed with annoyance.

" UGH!! Dad!!" He yelled back outside, a furious blush overwhelmed his cheeks.

" Guess that's my cue to leave." She said, caressing his cheek with her hand.

Gwen gives him a peck on the lips. " I love you Miles. Always have and I always will."

Miles shared a faint smile back. " And I love you Gwen Stacy. Till the end of time."

****

After Gwen and her dad left, Miles grabs his headphones and put them on, leaning back against his bed with his hands behind his back.

Silence engulfed the room, leaving him alone with his thoughts. He reminisced about the day he first got bitten by that spider.

" I can't believe it's been four years since that spider bit me. So much has changed since then."

Miles leans over to grab his sketchbook and opens the pages to all his drawings, skewing through each page before stopping on a picture with everyone on it.

" Even so, it's everything I've hoped for and more."

He caresses the picture he drew of everyone before closing the sketchbook, putting it aside.

He yawns. " Welp, time to sleep ."

Miles takes out his headphones and tucks into his blanket and pillow, drifting into a night of slumber, blissfully unaware that the items around his room were slowly levitating.

That was until he heard a voice call out to him from the ceiling. It was faint at first before getting louder by the minute.

" Morales!!"

Miles jolted awake, staring above the ceiling with wide eyes. Above him stood someone he hadn't visited in quite a while, mainly due to school and hanging around Gwen too much.

It was Miles G. Morales, his Earth-42 counterpart standing above him with a serious expression.

" G-G!" Miles yelled, flabbergasted by his intrusion. " W-What are you—why are you—"

" Nice to see you to, bro." He replied with a neutral yet friendly tone. " Sorry to bother you but I wouldn't be here if it wasn't urgent."

Miles stiffens, taken back. " W-Why? What's going on?"

Miles G. closes his eyes and exhales, almost as if he's asking too much from him. " Uncle Aaron and I need your help. Something big is about to happen."

Chapter 2: Operation Gone Wrong

Chapter Text

Location: Earth 42

After the sudden visit, Miles grabs his suit and puts it on, hopping into the portal Miles G. created to his earth. He made sure to leave a note to his parents and a message to Gwen, telling them he won't be gone for long.

Now on his earth, Miles and Miles G. walk side by side through the hellish landscape of the city, making their way to Uncle Aaron's place with their hoodies on to disguise themselves.

" I keep forgetting your city is like this sometimes." Miles grimaces, feeling unease when walking through the street.

It was still hard to grasp that three years have passed and the city still looked like a war zone, even when he aided Miles G. on a couple missions together.

Part of it was because of guilt and feeling responsible for what happened since the Spot incident.

" Takes time for things to truly change around here." Miles G shrugs, unfazed. He wasn't bothered by the slightest. " I should know."

" You still haven't told me what's going on yet." Miles changes the subject.

" To be real with you, I don't even know everything myself. Although, Uncle Aaron was just insistent that I bring you with me on this one."

" Sounds...intriguing." He jokes.

Miles G. shoots him a pointed look. This was no time for jokes.

They finally made it apartment. Inside Uncle Aaron is waiting, seating on a table.

" Hey! It's been awhile!" Miles greets, waving.

Uncle Aaron nods and returns the gesture back.

" Sorry for calling you on this short notice." He starts off apologizing, then smiles. " Congrats, by the way. On graduating."

" Ehh, it's no big deal, really."

" You still gonna do college?" He asks him, curious to what his duplicate nephew's plan was.

Miles nods. " Yeah. Planning on saving up before then."

" Getting a little off topic here." Miles G. fakes a cough, " Mind catching him up to speed."

Uncle Aaron rolls his eyes, then pulls out a laptop and turns the screen toward them.

" What's this?" Miles asks him, and leans forward to inspect the screen.

" A couple days ago, a base at the U.N Headquarters was infiltrated around 10 pm. CCTV footage of the event was deleted mere seconds after the initial breach." Uncle Aaron explains, " I wasn't able to recover most of the footage but I did capture this."

He points at a certain spot of the screen, revealing a burly image.

" If I had to guess," Uncle Aaron says, " I think it might be one of your guys."

" What makes you say that?"

" Take a look closer and you'll see what I mean."

Miles took a moment to inspect the image, noticing nothing out of the ordinary. He takes a further look, squinting his eyes and focuses hard to spot anything.

It was then did his eyes widen, shock and disbelief overwhelming him instantly. He thought to himself.

No. It couldn't be. There's no way!

But the reality of the situation slowly started to kick itself in.

In the dark image, a silhouette made itself known, not just by its long and messy hair or goggles they had on, but with the metal tentacles like machinery that had almost killed him and his friends four years prior.

There was no mistaking it. It really was her.

Doctor Olivia Octavius, better known as Doc Ock.

" No way!!" He yelled, breaking out his shock.

" You know her?" Uncle Aaron asks curiously.

" Know her?! I fought her! She was one of the reasons why my dimension almost collapsed in on itself!" He exclaimed loudly and continued on his rant. " She shouldn't be alive! Me, Gwen and Peter—we saw her get rammed by truck with full force!"

" We thought it would be the Doc Ock from this earth. " Miles G. says, stepping in, " But we noticed the features. It's definitely one of your guys."

" But now that he's caught up," Miles G. turns to him, " It's time you gave me some answers as well."

Uncle Aaron exhales.

" Yeah. Like for starters, why exactly did she steal?" Miles asked, curious.

There was a noticeable pause. Aaron's shoulders tense.

" I'll let you two know the full details later. For now, just know this—she stole something dangerous. Whatever happens, do not let her open that pod."

Miles and Miles G. exchange tense glances.

It was already weird enough that he wasn't telling them much but now since he spoke those words, it raised even more suspicions.

It was almost as if he was hiding something from them.

But this wasn't the time or place for that right now to ask questions. They'll just have to trust his word on it for now.

" Well. Okay then. What's the game plan?" Miles said through the awkward silence.

****

It was closing midnight and the city bloomed with color that matched its chaotic state. From the rooftop, Miles G. surveys the building with a set of binocular, zooming in on the area.

When being told where Olivia might have been located, Uncle Aaron gave him and Miles the coordinates to where she was last seen.

It wasn't a shock that it was connected to Oscorp. And since it was, no doubt that they were dealing with Norman Osborn again.

" Why does it always have something to do with Oscorp or Alchemax?" Miles groans and slumps down the wall behind him.

" Whatever the reason is, seems like Uncle Aaron hunch was right." Miles G. sets down the binoculars, kneeling down to his level and hands it over. " This place is crowded with guards."

Miles takes a look for himself, spotting multiple around the area, and sets it down  " Damn, you're right. They upped security from last time."

Miles G. scrunches his chin. " We need to get inside without being spotted."

Miles' eyes shift— landing on a neaby manhole cover.

An idea then spark into action.

" I think I may have an idea." Miles says.

****

" Out of all the ideas you've come up with, this is by far this worse one I've had to put up with it." Miles G. complains as he lands behind Miles in the sewer.

" Oh relax you drama queen. I'm getting us inside, aren't I?" Miles says, walking in front to lead the way.

They walk the damp tunnels until they hit a dead end—debris blocking their path.

" It's a dead end." Miles G. says first.

" Now hold on. There's still a chance we could make this work." Miles points towards the water below. " There's less rocks blocking the path there. Maybe we could slip through to the other side.

Miles G. shivered in disgust and anticipation. " Please tell me you're not suggesting we—"

" Swim."Miles says and then smirks. " Yeah. That's exactly what I'm suggesting. Let's go."

Miles G. doesn't have time to protest when Miles dives into the water.

" Why do I even try." Miles G. sighs and swallows his pride, diving into the water below.

With some maneuvering and lights used by Miles G. gadgets, they successfully make their way across the other side. Miles emerges from the water first with Miles G. following after.

They reach over to land and climb up the ladder that connected to Oscorp.

Miles lifts up the lid above them slowly and spots multiple guards still patrolling the room. Miles G. uses whatever space he can to appear next to him.

" Alright, let's do this!" Miles is quick to spring into action only for Miles G. to grab his arm, holding him back.

" Wait!" He whispered to him. " We'll make too much noise."

Miles G. digs into his pocket and takes out a few metal orbs, placing them down on the surface floor.

" We already did it your way before. Now it's my turn." He says calmly and blows on them which spread them out around the room.

The guards above barely notice anything. By the time one of them noticed, the balls he spread around the room started releasing gas.

It was too late for any of them to do anything as one by one, they all fell to the floor unconscious.

When the smoke from the orbs eventually cleared and every guard in the room was unconscious, they made their move. Moving the lid slowly, they emerge to the surface and begin exploring the area outside the room.

With the proper stealth, they sneak past some of the patrolling guards before making their way past a couple of rooms.

As they did, Miles spots something that stood out to him. He stops and taps Miles G. shoulder, and both of them stare in disbelief.

The rooms they maneuver by lead them to a window which spread far, and circled around the center. Inside was no other than a huge white room that contained a large machine which looked like a portal of some kind.

It was way bigger than any collider that Miles had come across. And it looked way more dangerous than they could have ever anticipated.

" Are you seeing this." Miles said in awe.

" Yeah. Whatever your doc Ock is planning, it's gonna tear my dimension apart." Miles G. grits his teeth. " I won't let that happen."

" Hey, Look down there!" Miles whispered and pointed his hand pointing to a stare way down.

They both make their way down, the only thing that illuminated the room was the purple lights coming from Miles G. suit.

When they finally reach the bottom, they both begin to inspect the huge dome around them, the pitch darkness spreading far and wide.

" I'm gonna place my bets that we need to find the control panel for this thing. But I can't see anything!"

Miles G. walked a few steps before he suddenly stops, feeling unease.

" Something's not right here."

He couldn’t shake the feeling away. For some reason, something about this felt off and things weren’t adding up. From the lack of guards to not even seeing a single trap being place to alert anyone.

” Why would someone built something like this without proper security?”

Miles G. scans the room, hoping to find any clues that would prove his suspicions. He examines the room closely, only for something to catch is eye.

” What the—“

His scanner picked up different parts surrounding the collider were moving, slow but steady.

” It’s starting already—but how?” He mutters, puzzled.

*Beep* *Beep*

His sensors then picked up multiple heat signatures, too many to count.

Miles G. widen.

”No…”

His hunch was right.

" It's a trap!"

Miles turns to him, alarmed. He doesn't have the time to react when the lights flicker on instantly, blinding him and Miles G. for a moment.

When the lights dimmed a little, they both looked up to see Olivia Octavius, standing confidently above them on the raised platform with rails.

Behind her, several guards lined themselves up, their weapons directed towards them and ready to fire.

" If it isn't the dynamic duo I keep hearing about. To whom do I own the pleasure too?"

Miles stares with a blank expression.

" You know, I'm genuinely curious to how you survived being rammed by a truck."

He could swore he saw her eye twitch at his little comment.

" Listen here Doc ock or whatever the hell you call yourself, what is your business on my earth?" Miles G. asked, arms folded.

She smirked with mischief. " Oh my dear Prowler, your earth just simply caught my attention. To think taking away the spider in this dimension would cause such mess here."

" Very funny." Miles G. rolled his eyes at her, unimpressed by her antics.

" How are you alive?! Or better yet, how are you not glitching right now!" Miles raises his voice, arms stretch high in the air.

" Oh it was quite simple really." She stated with the hint of pride and astonishment.

Miles G. sighs. " And here we go."

" You see, fours years ago when you and your little friends destroyed kingpin's collider, it left a portal open in which the likes I've never seen." Olivia explained in full detail, " While you were too busy clinging on to dear life, my miraculously survival had dragged me inside the unstable energy force."

She pauses, recalling her discovery.

" What I witnessed inside was...marvelous. I saw worlds outside of our realms, worlds that I never dreamed were possible. So many possibilities, at the palm of my hand."

Olivia exhales, expressing her disappointment.

" Before I could learn more, I was ripped back into our reality. In another earth, with no means of escape."

" And let me guess, you built yourself a goober before you could die and traveled here to settle the score?" Miles concluded with narrowed eyes.

" There you go." She stated, taking out her googles and putting them on.

" It was easy, you know. Avoiding your so called spider society. So many heroes yet their pride matches their incompetence. Made my job a lot easier."

" Alright. Enough with the monologging." Miles G. was tried of the backstory talk. He just wanted this to be done and over. " Where's the Pod you stole?"

Olivia smirked and snapped her fingers, the pod suddenly lifting up slowly beside her. Inside was blocked by white fog which made it harder to see what was inside.

" Oh. You mean this Pod?" She says, her sarcasm making their eyes roll. " Don't worry, I'll take good care of it once we're done with you."

" Who's we?"

Miles' spider senses starts to kick in. He looks ahead and sees the control panel with multiple scientists working vigorously in their stations. However, one man stood out amongst them.

Norman Osborn. The man that they sent to prison when Miles first arrived here three years ago.

" Everything is going according to plan." He folded his arms and looked down from his window, seeing everyone down below with an unamused look.

Miles turns back to look at her. " What exactly is the plan here?"

" The plan is quite simple Spider-Man." She stated it like it was a fact. " After I'm doing killing you, my collider will shred this multiverse down to its last atom. And then, when the dust finally settles, find a new one. One where I could build in my image."

" And what image is that?." He sends her a glare, stance ready for what was to come.

" A grateful one." Olivia answers casually.

" You're insane."

" Perhaps. But that won't matter soon anyways" Her smile turns sinister. " Because you all won't be alive to remind me."

With that, the men beside her open fire. Miles and Miles G. are quick to fall back behind a few boxes which block the incoming fire. Miles pushes the box covering them back from the force of each shot fired.

Olivia taps a button on her intercom that was attached to her arm " Start it."

" N-Now? My apologies but don't you think this is too soon?." The voice of the scientist's is already irritating her.

" You heard her. Do it." Norman says, the stern look on his face shuts them up completely.

The scientists begin to start up the machine. Miles and Miles G. look behind them to see a blue particles begin to emerge from the cracks of reality.

Suddenly, the cracks started to spread further and the vibrations from the machine were starting illuminate across multiple spider dimensions.

" If she keeps this up, our dimensions are gonna collapses ." Miles G. bitterly said, standing beside him in team effort to push back the boxes.

" I've got an idea." Miles starts to motion the plans with his hands . " I'll take down the platform. Take care of Olivia while I try to shut it down. Cover me."

Miles G. nods his head in response, wasting no time on firing his own laser beams from his gauntlets.

He had to admit, these soldiers were a lot more precise with their shots. He even avoids getting shot a few times before taking cover once more. However, he knew he was just the distraction in this scenario.

While their focus was on Miles G., Miles wasted no time and turned invisible, running through the chaos.

He weaves through a couple shots that weren't meant for him and shoots his webs forward, pulling himself forward with a kick.

Olivia was quick to act after noticing the web, maneuvering away in the nick of time when the platform crumbled, the force of the attack caused the whole thing to break.

The guards on the platform were sent tumbling down on the floor below, Olivia being the only one unaffected.

She watches as the pod lands on the floor, the bullet proof glass preventing it from breaking.

Olivia would get back to that later. She knew the importance of what was inside along with Norman.

She pulled out her tentacles and her googles switch to x-ray vision, spotting Miles who was making his way toward the control panel.

" Where do you think you're going?" She says, her metal tentacles working virtuously to speed her movements.

When she was about to grab him with one of the tentacles, Miles G. Shoots a wire around her before pulling himself forward and lands a sucker punch.

" You came to my dimension looking for fight." Miles G. says with no hint of uncertainty. " Now you've got one."

Olivia rubs her chin and smirks, wiping the blood from her lip as their battle commences.

From outside, the vibrations begin to attract the entire planet's attention. From inside the Morales' household, Rio Morales stares outside of the window with the look of fear and concern.

The same was said with Aaron who was watching from his apartment window, his eyes filled with anger and helplessness.

" What the hell is happening in there?" He says to himself, the tremor in his voice doesn't soothe him in the slightest.

****

It wasn't just felt there. All across certain parts of the multiverse, ripples of vibrations were felt through some Spider-Man's senses.

From Spider HQ, Miguel was receiving multiple reports and messages about the ripples and glitches in multiple earths.

" Lyla, where is this coming from?" He asks with a tone of panic, working the best he could to track the original source.

Lyla appears and for the first time speechless. " I don't know! Multiple ripples are being felt all around at once. I can't even tell where it's coming from anymore!"

All around, some of the spider gang all felt what was happening. Peter B. and MJ burst into the room with Mayday inside, MJ cradling her into her arms while Peter is trying to contact Miguel to know what is happening.

Meanwhile on Earth-65, Gwen wakes up from her slumber and looks outside to see the ripples herself. She tries to get into contact with Miles but her goober seems to be affected by the vibrations.

Whatever was happening, it was affecting any forms of communication and tech support. Something was really wrong.

****

Some of the scientists start to flee the scene when cracks start to break the control room. Others are trying to control the situation, all the while Norman watches.

" It's too unstable. It's gonna destroying everything."

" We need to shut it down!"

Norman scoffs and yells at them. " No one is leaving until I say so!"

Right before any of them could protest, the window breaks opens and Miles reappears and swings a punch at Norman who dodges in the nick of time.

A fight ensues with the remaining scientist fleeing the scene. Norman evades a few more swings and finds an opening to kick him in the stomach, sending Miles back.

Norman pulls out a dagger and charges at him, swinging furiously and hoping to slash him. Miles dodges a first two swings and catches his arm in an arm lock before doing the same for the other.

" Three years I had to suffer from you and Prowler's meddling with my affairs!" He says bitterly, glaring at him with such hatred that made Miles smirk.

" Look buddy, I'm flattered you think of me but I'm taken already." Miles says with a grin, " But I am looking forward to hooking you back with your jail cell."

Norman groans with annoyance and upper cuts him using his knee. He then grabs him and flips him over across the room. Miles lands on the ground steadily, doing the classic Spider-Man pose when he landed.

Norman charges his assault again, not letting up the pursuit. When he is about to swing his blade down again, Miles fires a web on his face which causes him to stumble back.

Miles follows up by using his foot to tackle him to the ground, webbing his hands and feet in place. He presses his chest harder with his foot and glares at the supervillain.

" Tell me how to stop it!" Miles demanded, watching the carnage around him.

Norman chuckled, even when he was in pain. " You can't. None of us can."

" Just watch me." Miles says and rushes to the control panel.

He had to think fast. Everything and everyone around him was in danger again, the situation becoming more dire than ever before. He had to at least do something to stop it.

" Okay. Think. Think. Think." Miles says, his words quick and fast as he looks at the controls. " What to do, what to do..."

That's when an idea popped up. The only solution he could think of that may work.

" Hah! Got it, If you can't fix it. Break it." Miles says and his plan is carried in action.

From outside the control panel, Miles G. used his jet boots to fly by and maneuver through some of Olivia strikes. His acrobatics and agility gave him the slight edge against Olivia incredible speed.

He circles around her and ducks under a strike and catches the second strike, trapping it in place. He pulls the metal tentacle toward him and tries to kick but Olivia blocks it using two of her tentacles.

" Not bad for a replacement." Olivia says,  blocking the kick from her attacker.

Miles G. dodges a strike that followed. " I was about the say the same thing."

He pushes himself back to gather up space. Olivia tries to strike him when he was about to land but he had already counted for that.  When she tried firing one of her tentacles, he times it just in time and stomps it with his feet with enough force to trap it in its place.

He uses the mechanical arm as a pathway and runs on it before leaping into the air to land.

When aiming for heavy and precise strike, he stops himself when he sees sparks of blue electricity coming from the control panel.

" What is he..."

His moment of hesitance proved to be fatal, the metal tentacle pushing him down with full force on the ground. His struggles to escape were met with glee from Olivia as she started to wrap the tentacle around his neck.

" Guess I was wrong." She says, ready to end it.

It was then did she notice was off when the portal that was forming start to change. She turned back to the control panel only to see the blue sparks form before.

" No..." She muttered, watching the scene from the distance. " That idiot!"

Norman was screaming the same thing back inside, seeing how Miles was destroying all their work.

" Stop! You don't know what you're doing!"

Miles ignores his protest and proceeds to break everything piece by piece, destroying everything that seemed important.

He continued this process until all that was left was a room full of broken controls and machinery. He looked outside and saw the portal dwindling and eventually fading away.

" This ends now!!"

And with that, Miles lands one final hit with his strongest venom punch. Blue sparkles of light engulf the room before the machine finally shuts down, the lights flicking down the entire building in the crossfire.

From outside, The ripples slowly cease along with the glitches that were forming around them. Silence followed right after in the pitch dark room again.

" And just like that, you've failed again Norman. And so has Liv." Miles remarked, not noticing the real fear behind his eyes. " Like Pav always says, another easy for Spider—"

*Boom*

In a flash of events, an explosion erupted when a violent which pushed everyone back in opposite directions.

Miles slams back against the controls panel, the force stunning him and blocks his vision slightly. He groans, his vision blurry with loud echoing in his eardrums.

When he regain them again, his eyes slowly widen.

In front of him, the portal reemerged out of nowhere and started pulling things into it, the portal using such force that it instantly pulled both Norman and Miles out from the control panel room.

" Woah!!" Miles screams, trying to cling onto something to hold to but his efforts proved futile.

Just when he thinks he's about to get sucked in, a hand grabs him by the leg.

He looks up to see Miles G. holding on to dear life with his metal gantlets. Norman is not so lucky, his screams echoed before he was sucked into the portal entirely.

From the debris that was flying everywhere, the pod from before is sucked into and consumed by the portal too.

Miles G. tries to hold himself steady but feels himself getting sucked too. Right behind them, Olivia is using all of her tentacles to hold her down steadily, and begins her ascent toward them, only able to move a few inches.

" Crazy lady gaining on us!" Miles yells in panic.

" Maybe if someone didn't just start breaking shit, we wouldn't be in this situation!" Miles G. replied back louder.

All around them, parts of the oscorp are getting sucked inside and Miles G. starts to feel himself slipping. His jet boots are at its max and he's using everything he can to pull them up.

" Come on, Come on, Come on!!" He tries to pull, he really does but it only ends up backfiring. It was then did the metal that he clenched on too sudden broke.

" No."

All their eyes widen in fear as the next seconds that followed was chaotic.

Miles and Miles G. were sucked back against Olivia before they were all sucked inside the portal, screams roared but were silence. When everything and everyone around the building was sucked inside, the portal suddenly vanished.

No trace. No evidence.

Just the sound of police cars arriving at the scene in the aftermath of what was once Oscorp.

****

Screams that were silence from the other side were found within the portal. To those unlikely to get sucked inside, it felt something was pulling and reshaping your body.

Miles didn't have time to comprehend what was going on or where he was going. He only felt his body crash against things he couldn't describe in this state.

Flashes of different realities flood Miles' mind, all around him were portals to different worlds that he couldn't quite comprehend himself.

" G!" Miles called out, his fears rushing in.

Before more panic could set in, he felt something grab his hand. He turns to see Miles G. holding on to him too.

" I've got you!" He says, being pulled with him.

Olivia, Norman, even the pod they were sent to stop before any of this started, none of it was found. It was only them at the moment, holding on to each other for safety.

It's then did a light appear in front of them, the portal opening itself wide and consuming them again.

Everything happened all at once. Miles and Miles G. emerge from the portal opening itself wide and are sent flying, hitting what felt like a billboard sign and landing on a rooftop.

Silence followed the crash and Miles groaned in pain, getting back to his feet slowly.

" Ow! My head." Miles says and turns to his counterpart. " Everything good on your side."

Miles G. nods, his back against the floor. " Yeah."

" Good. Let me see where we're at and then I'll teleport us back to—huh."

Miles looks down at his goober only for his eyes to widen. The goober was completely fried and out of commission. The hologram screen glitching in and out of view before it fading away entirely.

Miles G. gets back on his feet. " What?"

" The goober, It's...broken!" Miles exclaimed with an increasingly panic. " I don't get it, this thing was fine a moment ago !!"

He tries desperately to work with whatever he can but it's useless. The realization now kicks in for them when Miles is pressing random buttons in his panic state.

" No! No! No! This can't be happening!Come on you stupid piece of junk! Work god damn it!"

Miles G. watches in disbelief, his body in a state of shock with each second that passed.

They were stuck here. With no idea what earth they have traveled too. No portal to send them back home and no one besides Aaron knew where they went before they got here.

The realization kicks them even harder now. Would anyone know where and how to find them?

While he watches him desperately try to work on the goober again, Miles G. looks around and notices something off.

" Hey dude, you might want to check this out."

Miles shakes his head and focuses on the broken goober.

" Not now man, I'm busy." He mumbles to himself, clearly close to losing his mind.

"  I think we have bigger problems." Miles G. stated and with the way he said it made Miles turn his head at him.

" What problems are possibly bigger than...this—"

Miles stares out the same direction, and realizes what Miles G. was referring to. From the writing on the buildings to billboards of stars and singers, there was no mistaking it.

The night sky illuminated the color of the city ahead of them, the lights reflecting the beauty of scenery. There was no mistaking where they ended up.

They were in South Korea, Seoul.

" Ahh crap..." Miles mutters, speechless at the moment. He wanted to find the right words to describe what he was feeling but everything was caught up in the lump in his throat.

This was gonna be a long night for them.

Chapter 3: A New world

Chapter Text

Chapter 3- New Reality, New World.

The city of Seoul in South Korea had been through a lot of things, much of it dealing of all sorts of things.  Idols, songs, the fans, the whole city had its wide range of stories that reflected upon the many lights that shined.

When sunrise came, the city went about its day, oblivious of dangers that awaited them.

From one of the largest buildings, an alarm went off and stirred awake huntr/x lead singer, making her get up from bed in comical fashion.

" Huh? Where am I?!" Rumi says in a panic, calming down with squinting eyes after seeing the alarm.

With a quick stretch of my arms, she gets up to get herself dressed. She had spent almost the whole night finishing the lyrics for huntrix new single. After a quick shower, she looks at herself in the mirror and starts tying up her hair.

In the process of finishing up, a knock on her door snaps her out of her tired trance.

" Rumi! It's time to get up! Mira is making breakfast!"

The sound of her friend's voice, the usual and cheerful tone of it, melts her exhaustion and makes her smile.

" I'll be out minute Zoey!" She says back softly.

" Okay. Don't take too long." Rumi hears her footsteps fade away and goes to join her friends for breakfast.

When she was about to leave, her reflection starts to glow purple. Her eyes widen and her fingers twisted into her skin in fear.

All around her body were the patterns she was born with. Patterns that no one knew of  because of the shame they carried.

No one knew about them, not even her friends or anyone else she's met, except for her mentor who told her to never reveal them.

Because she wasn't meant to show anyone who she really was, not even her friends. It was against her mentor teachings, against the teachings of all the other previous generations that had come before her.

Our faults and fears should never be seen.

Rumi sighs and covers them up. " Just two more months until the Idol awards. You can do this."

After a change of clothes, she steps out of her room and heads to the kitchen. The smell of Mira's cooking lifts her spirits up and she settles next to Zoey on the table.

She takes a plate of food Zoey hands her and starts eating, humming with satisfaction over the taste of Kimchi.

" Someone had a good sleep." Mira commented when she noticed Rumi's lighter demeanor.

" Yeah Rumi, what's got you in the mood." Zoey asked, curious herself.

" It's nothing girls. I was just finishing writing the new single." Rumi says and takes another bite of her food.

" Ooh! Did you finalize the chorus yet!" Zoey exclaimed with an excited grin. " Me and Mira finished our verses already."

Rumi nodded. " It took some time but I think I've got it."

" Let's hear it then!" Zoey says, then pauses. " If that's okay with you of course!"

" Sure."

Rumi finishes what's left in her mouth, swallowing the food down her throat and uses a napkin to wipe her face.

" Alright. Here goes nothing." She takes a moment to catch her breath.

We're goin' up, up, up

It's our moment

You know together we're glowing

Gonna be, gonna be goldеn

Oh, up, up, up

With our voices

Yeongwonhi kkaejil su еomneun

Gonna be, gonna be golden

Oh, I'm done hidin', now I'm shinin'

Like I'm born to be

Oh, our time, no fears, no lies

That's who we're born to be

Rumi finished the last of the chorus with a high note, her voice echoing the kitchen room. She feels her friend's supportive gazes with Zoey's hand on her shoulder.

" That was amazing Rumi!" Zoey shakes her shoulder with her hand with pride and joy.

" Seems like a fitting song for the honmoon." Mira folded her arms, smirking in admiration. " Got a title for it already?"

" Not quite." She answered them honestly. " I was gonna ask you guys if you had any suggestions."

" Hmm. Let me think." Zoey thinks for a moment, and suddenly gets an idea.

" What about Golden?" She asks them.

" Golden?"

" Yeah. The song's already alluding to the Golden Honmoon. It not only symbolizes our true selfs but our bright future ahead of us once the honmoon is sealed for good."

" That's...actually quite observant of you Zoey." Mira replied in genuine surprise and admiration.

" Thanks. It just rolled with what I thought from the top of my head." Zoey pauses and turns to Rumi. " Not that I'm saying it has to be the title, I just thought—"

" It's perfect, Zoey." Rumi tenderly cuts in, her smile reassuring and comforting.

" Then I guess it's all settled" Mira declared, sitting forward slightly. " The new single will be called Golden."

Once they finish breakfast, all three of them left the tower to walk around the city. The disguises they wore weren't the best but it seemed to work slightly enough to avoid storms of people following them.

Zoey lead the group with paper in hand " Alrighty then. First things first on the list. We need to resupply on our ramen bowls."

" Already? I thought we bought a whole dozen of them last week." Mira commented beside her, her tone playful but edged with sarcasm.

" Yeah well, we tend to eat a lot when we're under stress." Zoey says, giggling at the thought. " But first, I think we should head to the arcade. There's this new game they added that I've been dying to try out!"

" As long as you don't go overboard this time." She replies, her fingers digging inside her pockets.

As this was going on, Rumi was silently on her phone trailing behind them. She's just finished talking with their manager Bobby about the upcoming promo they're preparing for.

She just finishes sending a message to Bobby, turning off her phone and tucking it away in her pocket.

" I just finished telling Bobby about the new single. I told him we could pitch in some ideas and start on it by having—"

" Rumi" Mira spoke, sharp yet playful. " We can worry about that later. Right now, we got other things to focus on."

" Mira's right. We only have a few more days off before we're back into it. Best to make to most of it." Zoey added with childish enthusiasm.

" And besides. How else would you describe the beautiful day we're having."

****

" Terrible. Absolutely terrible."

It was hours ago before they got here but nothing has changed much either.

With the set of jackets they managed to obtain hiding their suits, Miles and Miles G. spent the whole time asking the people around here if they knew anything about Alchemax or any other famous science organization around here or in America.

So far, nothing but "no, sorry" and " Haven't heard it" was the common phrase heard. Now, they were just sitting down on a bench looking like they just ran a marathon.

" Just our luck that nobody here knows what we're talking about." Miles G. groans in annoyance, and leans back slightly on the bench. " God, today was such a disaster."

" I mean, it could be worse." Miles tries to lighten the mood like he always does but was met with a glare.

He signs. " Fine, I retract my statement. This sucks, you happy now!"

" Thats not the point." Miles G. spun around in fury, throwing his arms in the air. "What are we suppose to do now? We've given all the cash we had to buy these jackets and now we barely have enough left to last us."

" We could try street performing. That might earn us some cash, maybe even enough to buy some parts to repair the goober." He suggests but looked uncertain.

" Even then, how long will that take us fix before we glitch to death." Miles G. says tiredly but leans forward to meet his gaze.

Miles pauses at the thought." Actually, now that you say that. Why haven't we been glitching?"

" What do you mean?"

He turns over to face him. " I mean, so far we've been here for hours already and i haven't felt anything happen to my body yet."

Miles G. freezes, the realization makes him freeze up as well, " I didn't even notice that. But then how is that possible?"

Miles shrugs. " Who knows, Maybe the rules here are different from our world?"

" Wow, way to be super vague."

" Hey don't look at me, I was just making an observation." Miles replies and raises his defensively. " It's not my fault multiverse travel is complicated."

" God, nothing about this makes any sense." Miles G. says and slumps against the bench once more.

It was made worse when he heard his belly growling. He cursed at himself at the memory of him skipping dinner earlier. He also wanted to wipe the smug look on his counterparts face.

" Someone's getting hangry." He asked only for his belly to start growling too.

" Pot calling the kettle black, huh?" Miles G. mockingly replied, his irritation being lifted slightly.

" Man, whatever." Miles gets up and stretches his arms. " I'm gonna grab something to eat. You coming or are you just gonna sulk all day like an edge lord."

Miles G. scoffs but gets to his feet. " Shut up, Nerd."

The two of them departed from the bench and into the city to find food. When they got to the city, night had begun to fall. All around then were food trucks and sales in the middle of the street.

Miles stares in awe. " Damn. They weren't kidding when they said Korra was lively."

" Yeah. Kinda makes me wish I had my grad trip here." Miles G. replied, admiring the festival around them.

" There's so much to choose from. I don't even know what to grab." Miles groans in frustration and his belly begins growling.

" Let's try to grab something simple." Miles G. suggested. " Maybe they got a place near by that we can chill for a bit."

Miles' mouth is ready to protest but stops himself. In the corner of his eye, he spots an arcade that was open.

" Hey Dude! Look!" Miles says, enthusiasm rushing into him and points to the arcade.

" Why an arcade?" He asks, raising an eyebrow at him.

" Why not! Their food prices are pretty cheap and what better way to relieve stress than to have a little fun!" Miles suggested with one finger raised.

" Correction. You are about to relive stress."

" Oh come on. Stop being a party pooper and let's go."

Before Miles.G could protest, he felt himself getting dragged toward the arcade. Once inside, they find a table to sit on and the waiter comes over to take their orders.

" What can I get you gentlemen?"

Miles turns with a grin. " We'll get two chocolate shakes, a large meat lovers pizza and some fries please."

He winks at the waiter, making her laugh before she walks off with their order.

Miles G. barks out a laugh. " You're such an idiot sometimes, I swear."

Miles titled his head, a faint smile tugging on his lips. " What can I say, It's part of my charm,"

Screams of excitement are heard, making him stand  on his feet. The crowd gathering around one of the games caught his interest.

" Guess that's my cue to leave. Try not to eat everything while I'm gone."

" Jackass." Milss G. scoffs at his comment.

****

While time eventually passes, Rumi, Mira and Zoey found their way toward the aracde. All three of them came through the front door, hovering at the entrance. Their gazes searched around the arcade around them.

It was more crowded than usual but not unbearable.

" It's been awhile since we've been here." Mira said, glimpsing around the arcade.

" Oh. My. Gosh!" Zoey squeals, her eyes practically glowing with joy, " It's beautiful! I don't know where to even start!"

Rumi snorts. " We can figure that after we find our seats."

The girls make their way towards the seats, passing by the line of people. It was rather lucky that no one seemed to recognize them.

" I don't know about you girls but I gotta stuff animal to win!" Zoey shouted, eyes filled with determination.

She storms off toward the arcade, leaving Mira and Rumi alone as they ordered the food.

" And there she goes." Mira said instantly.

" You're not gonna join her?" Rumi asked.

" Not on an empty stomach." Mira replied, chuckling, " I need food to properly function."

" That makes two of us." Rumi says, smirking at the thought.

Silence followed between them, the sound of the music blasting through the speakers kept the silence from being overwhelming.

" So." Mira starts, " What did Celine say tell you?"

"Huh?"

" Right when me and Zoey left, we saw you guys talking." Mira elaborated, curiosity rising with her tone. " What was that about?"

Rumi breath stutters as she recalled what her mentor had told her. It's as if a part of her was kicked in the gut, and she grimaces.

" Nothing can change until your patterns are gone."

" It was nothing." She says quickly, the tone of her voice almost defensive, " It was just the same old thing she always tells us."

Rumi exhales shakily.

She needed to end the conversation, before Mira got to suspicious.

" Hmm" Mira replies, eyeing her suspiciously.

Mira was always the one to know when somebody was hiding something from her. It was always like that, from the moment they had first met each other.

So in hindsight, she's be the first one to start catching up to her secrets. But she never did, choosing to respect her friend's wishes until they were ready.

Rumi was grateful for that, truly.

" Her expectations for us are seriously getting on my nerves." Mira sighs, deciding to let it go.

" She just wants the best for us, even if she can be a bit strict at times." Rumi answered, the tone of her voice low.

" I get that but not everything has to perfect all the time." Mira continued, clearly frustrated. " She puts to much pressure on us sometimes, especially you."

" Mira,"Rumi says softy. The tone of her friend's voice carried a weight of guilt.

" I know, I overstepped my boundaries again." Mira sighed, slumping down slightly, " I'm sorry."

" No. No." Rumi quickly responded, reaching over to squeeze her hand, " It's not that. I'm glad you opened up to me about that, really."

" I feel the same way too," She admitted honesty, " I love her but sometimes her expectations for me hurt more than anything else."

" She wants you to be someone you're not." Mira answered, blunt as usual, " I know the feeling."

Mira always had a trouble past with her family, that Rumi knew. A problem child cause she got to wild mixed with a family that demanded obedience and respect, that was just begging for disaster.

Her relationship with Celine may be rough, but that didn't make Mira and Zoey's relationship any better than hers. It looked all of them had issues with their family one way or another.

" Whatever happens, me and Zoey got your back. No matter what." Mira said, conviction carried with her words.

" Thanks Mira." Rumi says with a warm smile. " This will all blow over soon, once we turn the honmoon golden."

" You're right. Those disgusting demons won't know what hit them." Mira said with a smirk.

Rumi flinched, feeling the weight of Mira's words crashing down on her. She knew it wasn't intentional but it didn't make it any less painful. If only Mira knew about her secret, the shame that it carried with each passing day.

" Yeah" She muttered. The thought of Mira and Zoey finding out now scared her more than she cared to admit.

If they knew, Everything would fall apart instantly. She didn't want that to happen, not when they were this close.

" Now that we got that out the way, we should probably check on Zoey." Mira eagerly changed the subject.

" I thought you wanted to eat first?" Rumi asks with a grin. She was grateful for the change of topic. This was something she could work with.

" Last time I checked, we only ordered a couple minutes ago before we started trauma bonding." Mira replies with a sense of playfulness in her tone. She gets up from her seat to walk over to the arcade area.

" Okay, you got me there," Rumi laughs then gets up to join her, " Besides. Knowing Zoey, she'd probably need help carrying everything she won."

****

Zoey hums under breath, walking with a load of tickets in hand.

She had so many tickets that it covered her grin. Her thoughts focused on what prize she should pick up at the front desk.

" It took me awhile but I finally did it," Zoey thought to herself, " Now all I gotta do is choose between the teddy bear or penguin."

She could practically feel the prize right in her grasp. Even then, she had enough to even get Mira and Rumi something.

But when she headed for the front desk, her body bumped into something. The force made her fall back slightly, her vision blurred.

" Hey! What it twerp!"

Zoey's blood ran cold. She recognized that voice from anywhere.

The memories of her past rushed into her like a tidal wave, the voices of people reminding her that her thoughts and lyrics meant nothing.

She hated every second of it.

She hated what she got herself into now.

Because right in front of her, three girls were standing in her way, arms folded like steel. One of them, drenched in makeup, a pair of shades, and a demeanor that made Zoey feel small, examined her closely.

" Hold on a second, you look oddly familiar."

Zoey wanted to run. She wanted to bolt out of there before they knew but it was too late.

" Wait a second..."

Their faces lit up in recognition. One of them jabbed a finger at her in a mocking manner.

" Zoey? The braces dweeb from high school?!"

Emma, River and their notorious leader Chloe, all of them she remembered back at high school. They were one but many groups that played a part in her insecurities.

" Huh. Well I'll be damned" River said, sizing her up like Zoey remembered , " Looks like you were actually good for something."

" Yeah..." Zoey muttered, trying to avoid their gazes.

" What are you doing here?" Emma asked, her smile more fake than the friendly voice she used. " Don't tell me you're still trying to be an idol."

She flinched. They never believed she could be who she was now. Even now, would they even care if she told.

" I live here." She replied, standing her ground. " And yes actually, I did. I'm with Huntrix now."

The girls stare blankly at her, then bursted out laughing. Zoey fingers curled tighter around her bag.

The whispers and hallway laughter, the constant jokes about her old braces, the time where they ripped up her magazine of the sunlight sister before shoving her into a locker. All of it came rushing back to her.

" Be for real Zoey." Chloe giggled, circling to her side like a pack of wolves, " If they added you then Huntrix must really be desperate."

Zoey wanted to retort her statement, to say anything that would shut them up. She wanted to prove them wrong but couldn't.

She stood there, motionless and afraid, like she always did back at high school.

" Hey babe, who you talking too?"

Zoey heard another voice behind Chloe and saw him.

The jocks. The boyfriends to the three girls that tormented her for almost the entirety of high school. They were still together now and by the looks they gave her, they wanted in on the fun.

" It's no one, really." Chloe responded, acting as if Zoey wasn't even there, " You remember Zoey, right? She's a superstars now."

" Really?" Her boyfriend responded, looking her up and down. " I thought she would end up as the schools janitor."

" Babe, stop. You're gonna make her cry." Chloe giggled, slapping his chest.

Chloe was right about one thing.

All she felt like at this moment was crying. The pain and the shame of being the same girl they tormented for years was too much.

When things couldn't get worse, she saw Mira and Rumi arriving in time before they stood in place, their eyes now on the situation.

At that moment, her heart sank. She could already see the fierce look on their eyes, especially Mira.

"I-I should go." Zoey said, wanting to get herself out of there.

She only made past a couple of steps before she was pulled back.

" Just where do you think you're going?" Emma's boyfriend grabbed her arm. " We still got some catching up to do."

Things were really starting to get out of hand. She could see Rumi and Mira already marching over toward her, ready to take all of them down.

By then, people were already starting to notice the commotion happening. Some of them even having their phones out to record the whole thing.

" Come on pretty bird." River's boyfriend spoke, his fingers dangerously close to brush her cheek. " Sing for us."

When his fingers were about to caress her cheek, another hand appeared and grabbed his wrist.

" Man, back the hell up!" He said, using enough force to make River's boyfriend to stumble back.

Zoey breath slowed. In front of her stood a boy who blocked her away from the towering jock.

Even Mira and Rumi stop in their tracks —at least for a moment.

Gasps and whispers were heard among some of the people watching.

On a table not too far away, someone curses underneath their breath.

" This won't end well."

" Ow!" River boyfriend cried out and glares at the new guy. " Who the hell are you supposed to be?"

" I'm the guy who's gonna kick your ass if you keep bothering her." He says, glaring at the group.

" Miles Morales, at your service."

Zoey froze, watching with keen interest. She didn't know why but his presence made her feel at ease.

" And just what are you gonna do about it if we don't?" Chloe's boyfriend asked, taking steps toward him.

Miles stands beneath him, only a few inches smaller in height. Even so, he stands his ground unfazed.

" You and your group of misfits don't want to find out," Miles says, voice still calm and commanding.

The tension between them makes everyone worry, even the girls that started the mess.

Mira, who was agitated before, whistled at the scene ahead. " Gotta give credit where it's due, the guys got guts."

Rumi on the other hand, stared intently at him, feeling a sense of familiarity but couldn't quite put her finger on it.

" Come on, let's go." Emma's boyfriend chips in, grabbing his friend's arm to pull back, " It's not worth it man."

Chloe's boyfriend pulls away, pushing his friend back. " Hell nah. I'm not letting this dickhead ruin the fun for us."

" So long since you've seen yours that you don't even recognize one, do ya?" Miles muttered with a grin.

That did it for Zoey. Her laughter slipped out in a snort she didn't bother to hide. All the while Mira and Rumi jaw nearly hit the floor.

More gasps were heard, this time amongst the group. Chloe's boyfriend had his fist up, ready to strike him.

" That's it! Come here you little—" His fist lunges toward the boy but Miles catches it with, throwing a counter punch back that hits his nose.

He tumbled a few steps back, groaning in pain. Blood drips down his nose and he wipes it with his wrist, glaring with malicious intent.

He roars in angry and charges, ignoring the cries of protest from his girlfriend. His friends followed suit and a brawl began to ensue. All the while, the people around who saw watched.

One of them goes in for a tackle but Miles zips away in time, intercepting a kick that he blocks with his arm. He sees a fist lunging at him and grabs one of them to shield himself.

The fist connects against Emma's boyfriend, causing him to scream in pain. River's boyfriend goes for another kick but Miles catches it, his grip tight. He pulls him around and swings him against one of them, the force to knocking the guy out cold.

Chloe's boyfriend charges in but Miles kicks him in stomach, and turns to lunge his fist against his friend's face. He ducks from one of their swings but is caught in a bear lock by Chloe boyfriend.

The guy's friend comes charging in with his fist but Miles breaks in free in time, head butting his attacker with the back of his head. He then grabs his arm and flips him over in the air, sending the guy crashing against his friend.

They tumble down on the floor, groaning in pain with everyone watching in disbelief. Miles walks two steps back and lets them get to their feet.

" Learn your lesson yet?" Miles asked calmly, eyebrow raised.

Chloe's boyfriend growls in defiance before doing the unthinkable. He digs in his pocket and pulls out a knife, gasps and screams followed by a louder plea from his girlfriend.

Even Zoey, who had front rows seats to the fight, gasped in fear for the boy's safety.

" Okay. That's enough. I'm jumping in!" Mira yelled, furious. She marches over to help but is pulled back by her arm.

" Mira wait!" Rumi said, reaching over to pull her back.

" This fight has went on far enough!" Mira protested, and turns to her. " He needs our help!"

Rumi eyes lock on the boy, his stance calm and collected. She sensed no fear from him, only sorrow and pity that she only ever saw herself giving in the exact situation.

Even now, he looked like he still had everything under control.

" I don't we should worried about him." Rumi muttered, curious to see how it will play out.

Miles stands tall and firm, looking with pitiful eyes.  " Don't do this man." He says, not as a warning for himself but for his friends.

" You think...I'm gonna let you...walk away, just like that?" Chloe's boyfriend chuckle was malicious , his laughter sounding more unstable by the minute.

Miles looks at him, unimpressed.

Even so, he continued. " Ha! You're even stupider than you look!" He laughed again but gritted his teeth.

" No one beats me! No one!" He roared in anger and charges in again. " Not even you!"

Miles weaves away from the first strike and does the same for the next. He catches the hand with the knife coming down on and blocks the guy's other fist with his hand, trapping them in a bear lock.

He breaks the bear lock, lunging his fist but the guy dodges it and drops the knife to the other hand. Chloe's boyfriend lifts the knife upward into his chest but Miles catches it.

Trapped in another bear lock, Miles decides to uppercut him using his knee and before the guy had time to recover, lifts him up and swings him against a nearby by claw machine.

The impact breaks the glass and Chloe's boyfriend falls to the floor unconscious. Silence followed the aftermath with Miles standing above the person he knocked out.

" First time for everything." Miles said without breaking a sweat.

Before anyone had time to process things, the sound of footsteps approached Miles. He turns over and curses under his breath, seeing the local police show up from the entrance.

The ruckus must have forced the workers to call police.

" Alright, break it up." One of the police officers walks over with handcuffs. " You all are coming with us."

" Ah crap..." Miles curses, raising his hand in surround. He could see Miles G. from the crowd giving him a dirty look.

Perhaps he might have dragged out the fight a bit too long.

Before one of the officers could reach him, a figure stood in front of him.

" Wait!" Zoey yelled, moving in front of him, " He's with me!"

That's when the crowd erupted with loud shouts and gasps. Almost everyone was focused on the fight rather than how it started. It was when the smoke cleared did people begin to notice who she was.

" Oh my god!"

" Is that Zoey from Huntrix?!"

" I can't believe it. She's actually here!"

" But who's that with her?"

" Is she seeing someone?!"

Rumi stood frozen, looking like her soul was taken from her. Mira on the other hand sighed heavily, knowing what kind of repercussions were ahead for them.

" Ah, Ms. Zoey." One of the officers stated calmly, but their smile said otherwise, " It's a pleasure to see you. My daughters are huge fans of you and Huntrix."

" Fans? Huntrix?" Miles muttered, looking confused to the whole exchange.

Zoey laughed awkwardly before she cleared her throat.

" Hehe. The honor is all mine sir." She said kindly. " But please excuse my friend. He didn't do anything wrong."

" Not to worry, we know." The officer explained gently, " The staff called us over when they heard all the commotion, said these guys were the ones that started it."

The other officers with him pick up the jocks in question, putting handcuffs on their hands. They were then escorted out along with the grieving girls who were also taken in to questioning.

" I can stop by the station later for questioning." Zoey offered with genuine concern.

" No need Ms. Zoey. The staff told us they caught everything on camera." The officer replied. " You and him are free to go."

Miles sighed in relief but notice the crowd around them pilling up. He opened his mouth, ready to ask the girl who she was but was pulled by his hand.

" Thank you so much Officer! We would stay longer but unfortunately we have to go!" Zoey answered  sincerely and pulled Miles with her to the nearest exit.

" H-Hey! Wait!" Miles protested gently, more lost then ever before. " Where are you taking me?"

She ignored his questions, only pulling his arm harder. She proceeded to drag him away from the crowd. It was better that way to avoid more photos of them being taken.

All the while Miles dazed off, wondering what kind of mess did he drag himself in to.

Chapter 4- New Faces

If anyone saw them leaving toward the back door exit, it would've looked like the scene where the couple were sneaking out to have a make out session.

Away from the prowling eyes from the crowd, Zoey lets go of Miles' hand to give him space.

" Listen lady, I'm flattered by the cover up but I'm already taken." He says, crossing his arms.

Zoey raised her eyebrow. " You really think that's why I pulled you over here?"

Miles smirks, raising his in return. " I don't know. You didn't seem keen on answering any of my questions."

" Did you not see the people watching us?!" She exclaimed loudly, " It's bad enough that people are starting to get the wrong idea. Staying any longer would have created a PR disaster!"

" I'm sorry?" He muttered slowly, confused.

Zoey sighs, exhausted. " Sorry for what? Nothing about that was fault. If anything, I should be the one to apologize."

" Woah, hey now," Miles intervened, wanting to make one thing clear, " Don't go blaming yourself for what happened either. Those guys were losers. Plain and simple."

" I know that." Zoey replied, eyes downcast in shame, " I'm just...angry at myself. I'm suppose to be strong and handle things on my own. But I didn't. And that made me feel even more pathetic."

She groans, feeling like she's saying too much again. " Why am I even telling you this? You should be in there having fun, not listening to me trauma dumping. I'm such a mess."

The thoughts in her head were spiraling, dread consuming her mind and body. She had only just met him but somehow felt her walls crumbling. Even so, he shouldn't see her like this.

No one should.

Before her thoughts could spiral further, she hears his voice breaking the silence.

" Zoey, was it?" Miles asked nicely, sharing a warm smile.

She stares at him, eyes wide at the sudden smile he was giving her. It wasn't pity that she felt from him, only a warm presence of someone who accepted all her parts, even the ugly ones.

She nods her head, curious to see what he thinks. This gives him the go ahead to say what's on his mind.

" Look," He says hesitantly, his voice unsure, " I can't exactly say I know what you went through, but I do know that your more then what you think are."

" You really mean that?" She hesitated, looking away from him.

" I'm not the lying type." He shrugged, " I mean, you're a popstar idol for crying out loud. While you out there performing with swag, those guys are putting fries in bags."

Zoey let out wet chuckle, amused by his antics in cheering her up. " You're unbelievable."

" Guilty as charged." Miles said, smirking.

" Zoey!!"

The familiar sound of voices causes Miles to flinch, and Zoey turns to see Mira and Rumi storming toward them.

They rush over and slam into her, wrapping her into a tight hug and crying comedically.

" We're so sorry!" Rumi said, wailing. " We saw the whole thing! Are you okay?!"

" Don't you go rushing off ever again, you hear me!" Mira scolded, hugging her tightly.

" I'm okay, you can stop crushing me now. " Zoey muttered, almost out of breath.

Miles chuckled seeing the scene unfold, reminding them of his presence. They fix themselves first before introducing themselves.

" You must be the boy from earlier." Rumi says, " Miles, was it?"

He laughs awkwardly, shrugging, " Y-Yeah, that's me alright."

" It's nice to meet you. I'm Rumi, this one right here is Mira and by the looks of it, you already met Zoey."

" It's nice to meet all of you. Though I have to say, I can definitely tell who takes the longest fixing their hair ." He replies smoothly, making Zoey and Mira snort out loud in response.

Rumi shakes her head, amused. Boys can be so immature sometimes, I swear.

" Anyways, Thanks for helping Zoey back there, that was pretty cool what you did." Rumi smugly remarked, crossing her arms.

" O-oh, that. It was nothing, really." Miles awkwardly replied. He turns to Zoey who  " You looked like you needed help back there so I figured I'd step in, that's all."

" All say, what kind of guy has the balls to fight someone with a knife ." Mira commented, examining him closely.

" Hehe...well."

" A god damn idiot, that's what." A voice finishes his sentence before he had the chance to reply.

They all turn to the source of the noise, Miles relaxes at the sight of who it was.

" Hey G. Took you long enough." He joked, all the awhile the girls stare in awe.

" Woah. I didn't know you had a twin brother?" Zoey asked, looking back and forward between them.

" Oh no, we're not—I mean yes, brothers. Twin brothers at best hehe!" Miles corrects himself once he caught his glare.

Zoey and Rumi seemed to by the bait though his little slip up caused Mira to eye them both suspiciously, sensing something off. However, she decided to let it go for now.

Miles clears his throat. " Guys, this is ugh—well I usually call him—"

" G. Call me G." Miles G. stated quickly. He knew how bad of liar his counterpart was, everyone did. " And no need for introductions, I heard everything."

" Ahh, yes. G, that's the name haha." Miles laughs nervously. " Where were you exactly when I needed help?"

Miles G. narrows his eyes at him. " While you were busy fighting, I was busy cleaning up the mess you made. You know I had to pay for the damages you made to that machine, right?"

Miles cringes at the thought. " I'm sure it couldn't have been that bad, right?"

Miles G. takes out the receipt showing the damages.

" Ooh-"

" Yeesh!"

The girls cringe seeing the total amount.

" Okay, that one was on me." Miles sighs. " Man, I was really hoping to try that pizza. Oh well."

Zoey felt a pang of guilt, knowing she was the cause of all of this happening. She couldn't allow his good deed to go unrewarded.

" Hey, wait!" She says, catching everyone's attention. " Why don't you come with us. Our treat."

" Say what?" Mira and Rumi ask, taken back by the invitation.

" Oh come on guys, it'll be fun!" Zoey argued, hands on her hips. " Besides, it'll give us a chance to know each other better."

" Are you sure though? You really don't have to—"

Miles G. hits his arm hard enough mid sentence to shut it up.

" That would be lovely." Miles G. says kindly, ignoring the groans from his doppelgänger.

" I don't know, are you sure about this Zoey?" Mira asks her, unsure. She didn't want to sound mean but they hardly knew these guys enough to consider it.

" Positive." Zoey says, looking over to her friends, " Besides, it'll give us a chance to get to know each other better. "

Mira looks over to Rumi who both share the same look of concern. This would be much easier for them to come up with an excuse if it weren't for Zoey's classic puppy eyes trick that Rumi hated especially.

Rumi sighs, relenting first, " I guess it couldn't...hurt."

" Wonderful. Now, prepare yourself for a night out at Korea's most amazing dining experience."

*Crunch*

Miles takes a huge bite of the burger in his hands, humming in satisfying by the taste alone.

" So delicious. You weren't kidding when you said these were good."

" Right! You would think they would mess up the Himalayan sauce!" Zoey says as she takes another bite of her burger.

All the while, the rest of their friends grimaced by the way they were eating.

Zoey thought it was best to take them here since it didn't really have a lot of people. Mainly due to the C ranking that it recently added

" You know, I think I just lost my appetite." Mira says with low voice, pushing her food away slowly.

So far, It was Miles and Zoey doing most of the talking tonight. Rumi chipped in every once and awhile which kept the conversation going between them.

Their conversation earned a few laughs here and there but it was mostly Miles's quips and Zoey's nature of playing along. So far, it seemed like they were getting along.

Mira wasn't buying it though. Call her paranoid but when has that part of her let her down. It's not like she hated them, quite the opposite actually. After all, one of them did save her friends from public humiliation.

But something just felt off to her. She listened intently whenever Rumi asked a couple questions. Whenever she did, Miles, if that's really his name—Okay sorry, too much I know, would answer hesitantly.

Mira knew when someone was lying, or giving half truths. Hell, Their leader and close friend was doing that as of late, but Mira trusted her enough that she would open up eventually.

What she didn't trust was them.

Rumi clears her throat, catching the attention of the boys. " So, what's up with you two? I mean, traveling all the way here from America around this time seems difficult."

Miles gulps down his food as he chuckles nervously.

He couldn't exactly tell them the truth, even if he wanted to. They would all think he was crazy. Possibly even sent to an insane asylum.

" Ah. Well, you see, we're kinda on...vacation for a bit. We just graduated high school not too long ago."

He wasn't technically lying, from a certain point of view.

Mira gave them bewildered look. " Wait a minute, you two just became high school graduates?"

They nod their heads in unison.

" B-But you two look older for your age, especially you!"

Miles G. eyes twitches when she points at him. Miles and Zoey share a laugh which also adds fuel to the fire.

" Mira!" Rumi says, clearly shocked.

" Sorry. It's just...you think you know something." Mira deflates back to her seat, crossing her arms.

" Cleary not." Miles G. exclaims, meeting her glare. He examines her head to toe, and in seconds he gives a smug look that irritates her.

" Something funny?"

" Anyone ever tell you that you look like an edgy hatsune miku"

" Coming from the guy that looks like an escape convict from a junior detention center."

" At least my hair doesn't look like it's part of a fruit roll up brand."

" Better a fruit roll up than a dangled up bra strap."

They went back and froward throwing insults at each other. No one knew whether it was there way of getting along or trying to one up the other, who knows?

It was best to stay out of it, especially when they were getting way to creative

" So. How long were you planning on staying here?" Rumi asks and Miles knows he's gonna have to come up with something.

" Umm... well." He says slowly. This time he had to lie, regardless " We were planning on staying for a few days but...with all our money gone, we're gonna have to cancel the trip. Yeah."

" That's awful..." Zoey muttered, showing her sympathy " I'm sorry, I didn't mean to ruin your trip." Rumi puts her hand on her shoulder for comfort.

Miles already feels a pang of guilt seeing her teary eyes. It reminds him all too well of Peni whenever she was sad. He had to fix that.

" Oh no, it's not your fault. Honest" Miles blathers out quickly. He tries to lighten the mood. " I just got carried away, that's all. Me and G. will think of something."

" I wish there was something we could do to help." Rumi says softly.

Right when those words were said, an idea shaped like an imaginary light bulb appeared above Zoey's head.

" Actually, I think there is." Zoey smirks, scrunching her chin with her hand.

Not too long after, she pulls out her phone and starts making arrangements on her phone. Miles and Miles G. share the same puzzle look as she continues her work.

" What is she doing?" Miles G. asks.

" Give her a minute." Mira sighs as she already feels like it's gonna be something that she's gonna lose her mind over.

Zoey finishes with one final tap of a button before putting her phone aside. " There. Problem solved."

" Umm...what did you do, exactly?" Miles feels nervous about this.

" Like you said Morales, it was nothing. Just pulled a few strings and well, let's just say you're gonna be spending the rest of your vacation in a private resort with no charge" She smugly remarked.

Jaws were dropped amongst the table, especially from Miles. So much so that he felt like he could rival Spider-Ham in goofy facial expressions alone.

" SAYY WHAT!!!" They shouted simultaneously.

" What? Too much?" She asks so casually like she didn't just gave them a place to stay for free.

" Like hell it is!!" Mira particularly yelled, flabbergasted. " What on earth are doing?!"

" What does it look like? I'm simply just returning the favor."

" Returning the favor?! Zoey, this is way more than just a favor. You can't just give your kindness out freely to people we just met, what if they—"

" Mira."

Rumi voice cut through her rant. She gave her a pointed look that reminded them of who was present. Mira gritted her teeth before sighing in defeat.

She turns to the boys who were as equally shocked as them.

" Would you two us give a minute?" She asks them

" Y-Yeah, sure thing." Miles replied. He watched them leave their seats and join in a group huddle. He gave Miles G. an awkward look while he shrugged.

Now that they were away, Rumi turns to Zoey." What Mira is trying to say is that you might be going a little overboard."

It was true to some extent. They had only met just a few hours prior. It would be unusually strange to do this for people you barely even knew.

Zoey shrugged " I don't see a problem to it. We're rich, aren't we? It's not like it's gonna kill us. "

" Yeah but...I mean, it's just..." Mira stumbles in her defense.

" Just what? Look at them." Zoey pointed at them. Miles was lightening up the mood with his quips and sly remarks, all the while Miles G. sat there and put up with it.

" Do they look like people who will take advantage of me?" Zoey's voice was firm, but strong enough to get her point across.

Mira and Rumi share a glance at them before looking back at her.

" No...but—" Zoey gives her a pointed look, which made Mira groan in frustration" Come on Rumi, say something!"

" Mira, I have no freaking idea how to argue with that."  Rumi sighs. She didn't if she could with Zoey, especially if she were to put her mind on something.

Hell, was there even a point in arguing at this point.

" Exactly." Zoey proudly remarked. " Now that everything's settle, let's head back before they start worrying."

Zoey led Rumi and Mira back to the table. She cleared her throat to grab their attention.

" Looks like it's your lucky day Morales. Cause we as the people we are have decided to help you."

" W-Wait, are you actually serious about this?" Zoey nodded her head in unison with the others.

Miles was indeed lost for words. He didn't know whether to thank her repeatedly or get down on his knees and kneel.

" But why? Why help us?"

" Because you stood up for me against those bullies. It's more than enough to earn this. And our trust."

****

After dinner, the group had parted ways. Luckily, Zoey had also booked a taxi along with enough cash that almost made one of them pass out.

A few hours after arriving at the hotel, Miles made himself comfortable against the headboard of his bed, a pencil in hand as he continued his drawings.

" You know, if you were to tell me that we would meet a multi-millionaire Kpop group after getting lost in an unstable portal, I would have laughed at your face."

Miles G. chuckled despite his sour demeanor. His focus was on the broken goober that Miles lended to him.

He quickly got to work on the nearby desk and tried to make repairs for the bracelet.

" Yo G., how long do you think it will take to get that goober running again?"

" It's hard to say, this is future tech we're talking about here." Miles G. inspects the broken parts. " Rough estimate would be...couple weeks, months even."

" What about the others? Should've they noticed how long we've been gone by now."

" Have you forgotten how big the multiverse is. Who knows how long it'll take before they track our whereabouts. Either way, we're on our own for now."

" So what? We're just suppose to stay here and wait?!" Miles exclaimed.

Miles G. raises his eyebrow. " You got a better plan then, Spider-Man?"

" No but..."

Miles groans against his bed, clearly frustrated.

" I get it, it sucks. But we've survived impossible odds before."

" I get that, it's just."

He stops to admire his sketch and frowns when he realizes what he drew. It was a drawing of the woman he loved. The woman who would fight tooth and nail for him when he needed her. The woman who was probably worried sick about him right and probably blaming herself over his carelessness.

It was his equal. His partner. His friend. His sunflower. His one and only Gwen Stacy.

" I miss her already."

No other words were needed to explain how he felt. Only the silence that followed which made it all the more depressing.

Miles G. gaze soften. He knew how crazy he was for her. Almost every time she was brought up, he was forced to listen hours and end about how amazing she was. To an unhealthy degree, he might add.

Despite how annoying it was to hear him go on about her, he knew how much he loved her. He also knew how much it was gonna hurt not seeing her, maybe for a while.

Miles G. sighs. If he was gonna be stuck here with him, he might as well cheer him up.

" Hey Loverboy."

Miles was taken out his trance, forcible he might add when he was hit in the head by a pillow. He looks over to his doppelgänger who was already geared up and ready to go.

" Wanna get out of here?" Miles G. asks smugly, arms folded.

Miles stares back at him in awe, then grinned.

****

Zoey was fast asleep on their couch, tired from today's events. After coming home, they agreed to watch a movie together in the living room. Twenty minutes into the movie and Zoey was drooling on the couch, stuff animal in hand.

" Not even half way through the movie and she's fast asleep." Mira says which makes Rumi chuckle.

" That's Zoey for you. Chaotic and unpredictable." She replied softly.

They turn back to the movie in silence. The noise of the Tv and Zoey's snoring being the one thing breaking it.

Mira's firm, yet soft voice broke through the heavy silence " You think she made the right call earlier."

Rumi silently ponders on that thought. " It's hard to say. They seemed like nice people though."

Mira rolls her eyes at her. " Yeah. Totally."

" You're just mad that his brother called you an edgy hatsune miku"

Her face flushes. " Am not!!"

" I'm kidding. No need to yell." Rumi laughs which made her laugh too.

" I don't know. It just felt like something was off about them, you know." Mira commented, thinking back when she saw the way Miles talked when he was asked a personal question.

She had to admit, something about them felt off. Rumi noticed it too when she was talking with the boy herself. Sure his quips and jokes made him funny yet there moments where he would stutter and laugh almost as awkwardly as she did.

It kinda reminder her of herself in a way. Going by that logic, maybe he and his brother had a few secrets of their own.

" There's no use worrying about it now." Rumi concluded, " Besides, don't we got a bigger problem on our hands."

Mira sighs. " Of course. How could I forgot about the whole media thing. Bobby's probably gonna have questions tomorrow about what happened. Celine too."

Rumi shifted in her seat uncomfortably. She had a strange feeling that Celine would scold them for showing such weakness, let alone letting an American boy handle their problems.

She rather take Bobby breakdowns and stressful rants about their PR disaster than deal with Celine.

Your faults and fears should never be seen.

" No matter what happens, we'll get through it. All three of us." Rumi concluded, looking at Mira. " Together."

Mira looked at her and smirked, sharing the same sentiment. It was only then when she noticed something off herself out their window.

Her smile faded into something serious, catching the attention of Rumi. " Mira? What's wrong?"

Rumi turned to look where she was looking and gasped. Outside their glass windows, the honmoon which glowed bright blue started weaken around a certain spot of the city.

Mira didn't waste a second to nudge Zoey awake, which made her scramble awake.

" Huh? What's going on?" She whispered.

It was then that she saw what was going on, her eyes widen in fear once she saw the purple light amongst the honmoon.

" The honmoon...it's weakening again." Mira muttered. " But why, why now?"

" Gwi-Ma probably launching another surprise attack. With the idol awards just months away, he's been getting more and more desperate." Rumi observed.

Zoey stared out herself and squinted her eyes, wondering what part of the city this next attack was heading. In minutes, she figures out exactly where as she could only gasp.

" What?! What is it zoey?" Rumi asks.

" The weak spots. They're...there—" Zoey mutters under her breath. She turns to the others in fear in her voice. " They're near the resort that Miles and G. are staying in."

Mira and Rumi's eyes widen in the realization too. The weak spots were so close to the area, which meant that Gwi-Ma demons were already close by to them.

" Shit." Mira cursed out loud. " Let's move it people, They scramble out the living room to grab their gear.

" Hold on Miles, we're coming!" Rumi says.

****

“ Let’s do this.”

After swinging through the city, they decided to stop by undisclosed rooftop on one of the buildings. Using the money Zoey gave them, they decided to put it good use by spraying the walls with spray paint.

They take their time, spraying lines and doing the best they could do draw what they want. Miles G. takes one good luck at his doppelgänger which makes him chuckle.

“ What the hell are you drawing?” He asks.

“ Isn’t it obvious. I’m drawing Miguel.”

“ His cheekbones are not that narrow.”

“ I beg to differ.” Miles smirks. “ Mind giving me a boost.”

Miles G. boost him up so Miles could finish his work. Minutes later, they step back and admire their work.

In front of them was a drawing of bats surrounding a Latino Spider-Man with fangs, dressed as Dracula.

“ Wow.” They said at the same time. They turn to each other before laughing.

“ You know, it suits him, don’t you think?” Miles says.

“ Totally. Wouldn’t have it any other way.”

They admire their work in silence. So much so that Miles thought he should break the silence with one of his usual quips. Before he could do that, Miles G. beats him to it.

“ You know, dad would kill us if saw us doing this in the open.”

“ Nah. He’d probably tell us to act like better role models.”

Miles G. smirk was faint, but present. “ He definitely would.”

Even through that smile, Miles knew there was wound that never truly healed.

“ He misses you.” Miles says lowly, “ They both do.”

Miles G. knew what he was referring to. After the whole Spot ordeal, Miles took the time to introduce him to his father. The reunion between them felt bittersweet, like Miles G. was able to close that chapter of his life and find closure.

It was something he was grateful for, truly. But a part of him didn’t want to invade into that version of his father’s life. It just didn’t feel right for him, not for now at least.

And Lately, he was so busy back at his dimension that it seemed impossible to even hang out his doppelgänger or his other friends. Life just got busier for him.

I know.” He says softly. “ I’ll be sure to visit when I can when we get back. Probably tell him you almost crashed Aaron car too.”

Miles face flustered, embarrassed. “ It was my first time driving. Cut me some slack will ya.”

“ Whatever you say bro.” He laughs and punches his elbows softly. “ Come on, let’s head back before someone spots us.”

Miles nods as they turn to leave, only for him to stop in his tracks. His spider sense kicking in at such a rate that he stumbled back from how intense it was getting.

“ Yo, you good man?” He hears Miles G. call out to him.

Miles spider senses tell him of the danger as he looks below the building, his doppelgänger following suit.

From the ground below, amongst the dark and empty street, they spot purple flames slowly emerging in all directions.

From each of the flames emerged portals, with each other having something coming out.

Miles and Miles G. watched in horror once they grasped the scene ahead of them. It looked like something out of a horror movie, with supernatural creatures that looked like it came from the depths of hell itself.

“ What the fuck are those things?!” Miles G. says slowly, shocked and disgusted all at once.

Before they could have a chance to do anything, Miles’ spider senses kick in as he turns around to see a portal opening from the painting.

One by one, each of those creatures emerged, standing face to face to them with wicked smiles that sent shivers down their spines.

This wasn’t some ordinary supernatural creatures.

These were demons.

And they were ready to hunt.
