Chapter 1: The Rat on the Street
Chapter Text
On the streets of Opala's Kingdom Flukey was taking a stroll through, dressed in rugged clothes but they were comfortable enough for Flukey to not pay much mind. Being a street rat Flukey didn't have the luxury of choosing what to wear and could only take what he could get. It also didn't help that because of his social status nobody paid him any mind and the ones that did only looked at him with disgust and pity. Even with the few odd jobs he managed to get they'd be short-lived with barely any gold to last him more than a day.
It was truly a rough life for Flukey but he was making due with what he had.
While still strolling through the streets Flukey stumbled upon a letter in the ground. "A letter?" Flukey leaned down and picked up the letter and looked around to see if anyone was looking for a missing letter but none even bothered. Curious Flukey retreated to an alley to inspect the letter without any interruptions.
Upon inspecting the letter, the first thing he noticed was the smell.
Lavender.
Now Flukey wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed but he DID know that a person doesn't add such a fragrant scent to a letter until it was a love letter. But as to who the letter was meant for there was one way to find out.
Flukey opened the letter and read it and it eyes widened when he realized it was not just a love letter, but one addressed to Queen Opala herself. Like many other subjects of the kingdom Flukey has seen Queen Opala's beauty at least once or twice and like many other subjects she is the center of his most erotic fantasies but Flukey usually keeps his lust to himself, knowing that a mere street rat like him doesn't have a single chance of being with Queen Opala.
But despite his own shortcomings he wasn't gonna ruin the chances for someone else so with no other option he decided to deliver the letter personally and began his little journey.
Hopefully it won't be too difficult for Flukey to deliver the better but one can only hope.
Chapter 2: Delivering a Letter of Love
Chapter Text
The walk to Queen Opala's palace wasn't an eventful one, not that it was supposed to be, but when Flukey made it to the palace he found two guards standing at the entrance. Flukey knew for a fact that if he just up and approached and told them he had a love letter to deliver to Queen Opala they'd just turn him away without question and even get violent with him.
No he was gonna have to take a different approach.
One that required stealth and some parkour.
Was Flukey about to trespass into a restricted area with a high risk of being beaten to a pulp or executed on the spot if he were to get caught all for the sake of a love letter?
Yes.
Crazy as it was Flukey was selfless enough to put others before himself even after everything he's been through in his life. Just because life has treated him like shit doesn't mean he has to treat others the same way.
Good people anyways.
Walking along side the wall until he was far away enough to jump over, Flukey hopped over the wall and was now inside of the palace, specifically in the garden. "Alright I'm in. Let's do this." Flukey traversed through the garden, making sure to avoid any guards or others seeing him though things would be a lot easier if Flukey had some royal guard armor on so he'd be able to blend in easier but like always he had to make due.
With his observation he found that a good portion of the windows were closed with a few opened ones and that was his way in.
After letting a soldier pass, Flukey scurried to the wall and leaped, grabbing the ledge before he climbed up to the window and jumped in and Flukey quickly looked around to make sure no one saw him come in and luckily he was still in the clear.
"Whew. So far so good."
Now all Flukey needed to do was find the queen's room, drop the letter off, get back out, and watch the blossom of a potential relationship. Or not as that's still an option on the table.
Continuing his mission, Flukey stealthily searched the palace to find Queen Opala's room which of course wasn't easy since there were so many rooms as well as guards. Not to mention not a lot of hiding places but with patience and luck he finally found Queen Opala's room and as you'd expect it was extremely luxurious but that was expected from the ruler of Egypt.
As much as he'd love to continue admiring the room he still had a job to do and set the love letter down on the bed before he left and started to make his way out.
"Alright. Now that that's done I just gotta sneak back out, head over the wall, and then--." Without looking where he was going Flukey collided into something big and squishy that made him fall back onto the ground. "Ahh....that hurt....that hurt a lot." Flukey rubbed his head groaning.
Then he heard a voice that made his heart skip a beat and his eyes go wide.
"Oh my goodness are you alright?"
Flukey looked up to it was none other than Queen Opala herself and with her was a black panther.
Fear clouded Flukey's mind as he realized he had just been caught and all the worst case scenarios started to play in his head. Queen Opala picked up on his fear easily but she just assumed it was cause of her pet.
"Oh there's no need to fear. I promise Sebastillion is a very gentle boy." Queen Opala patted Sebastillion's head to further prove his point as he purred and his tail swayed.
"I-I see...." Flukey slowly got up and the pain in his head was still apparent as he continued to rub it.
"Your head....come with me. We need to make sure nothing's broken." Before Flukey could even protest Opala grabbed his hand and started to lead him to her personal doctor, not at all concerned with the fact that Flukey snuck into her palace but more so focused on his well-being.
Guess Opala's kindness even as a ruler truly was more than just rumor.
With the Doctor....
Flukey was currently being examined by the doctor while his nerves were still on high. He knew it was only a matter of time until Opala would want to know what he was doing in her palace since he was a commoner which left him in a dilemma.
Tell the truth or lie.
Either way the chances of him making it out unscathed is slim to none even with Opala being so kind but at least he did his job.
"Well....nothing's broken so I'd say he's good to know. Though you should watch where you're going next time young man. You might not be so lucky next time." With that the doctor left and now it was just Flukey and Opala with Sebastillion standing guard.
"I'm glad you're alright young man though I have to ask....what are you doing here? You're clearly not one of my guards nor any of my courtiers." Opala's eyes widened a bit. "You...wouldn't happen to be a thief would you?" Upon hearing this Sebastillion started to growl, prepared to defend his master.
Flukey immediately put his hands up in surrender.
"No! No! No! No! No! No! I'm not a thief I swear! I was just delivering a love letter to you that somebody made. It's in your room on your bed. You can check for yourself if you don't believe me." Flukey hoped that Opala believed him cause if she didn't he knew it was gonna be curtains for him.
"Hmm. Sebastillion watch him."
With that, Opala exited the room and went to her own to confirm Flukey's explanation and sure enough there was the letter on her bed. She picked it up and read and sighed in slight annoyance.
Opala had gotten used to being sent love letters on a daily basis and she knew they all were just selfish attempts for the senders to get into her bed.
"Well....at least my little intruder was honest."
Opala returned to Flukey who stayed where he was out of fear of being attacked by Sebastillion.
"Alright your words ring true though I'm not very fond of people sneaking into my palace. Which begs the question....how did you manage to get in? There were guards everywhere but you snuck past all of them and only got caught by sheer luck."
"I got in thanks to my parkour?"
"Parkour?" Opala tilted her head in confusion and curiosity.
"Oh parkour is basically running through environments with precision and efficiency running, jumping, climbing, vaulting, rolling, and some other things though in this case I climbed."
"I see. Interesting."
"Well um....I apologize for intruding into your palace Queen Opala but I promise it was for a good cause and now that the matter's settled I'm just gonna..." Flukey started to leave but was stopped by Opala who grabbed his wrist.
"Wait...."
Flukey stiffened a bit but stopped, wondering what else Opala needed from him or if she was gonna punish him regardless of his truth or not but he noticed Opala looked at how rugged his clothes and his body was.
"Do you have a home....or a family by any chance?"
Upon hearing this Flukey eased up a bit as his mind shifted to how harsh his life has been. "No. Not really. I don't have a home nor do I have a family. I don't even know who my parents are. For as long as I can remember it's always been just me. Why do you ask?"
"Well....I was thinking....since you don't have a home to go to or people to lean on....why don't you stay here with me."
Flukey's eyes widened at Opala's suggestion.
No one as ever offered Flukey a place in their home and the first person to do so was Queen Opala.
"Are....are you sure? I don't wanna be a bother. I mean. You're the queen and I'm just a commoner. A street rat more precise. Won't this cause some kind of backlash for you taking in someone from the streets?"
Opala giggled. "I can understand why you think that but as queen it is my duty and desire to help my subordinates and you are no different regardless of your status. I don't see you as a street rat but a boy with a good heart and so much potential to be something more. You just need someone in your life willing to help you. And I want to be that someone. If you'll let me."
There was silence in the air before Flukey gave his answer.
"O-Okay. But I won't just be a bump on a log. I will help around the palace in any way I can." Flukey said, accepting Opala's offer as well as offering his own services to repay Opala for her kindness.
Opala smiled.
"Excellent. Sebastillion you may go. I'll be fine." Sebastillion nodded and then left the room and now it was just Flukey and Opala. "Now, let's get you cleaned up." Opala said and led Flukey to the bathroom to help him get washed and begin his new life in Opala's palace.
If anyone told Flukey he'd end up living with the queen after snaking into her palace and delivering a letter he wouldn't believe it.
But now it was happening.
And Flukey was gonna do his best for Queen Opala and repay her kindness in any way he can.
