Chapter Text
I hid behind the curtains, I listen closely to the cues, the stomping of the boys as the walked out in a straight line in their blue uniforms, so perfect, my stomach wants to turn but I can't turn back now. I take a peek
I watch as they link their swords in their air, the clanking as they attacked eachother, some were doing defence and the rest offense and sounds of their sharpness pierces my ears, they tug them away as they begin to pull out their roses from their front pockets, the girls squeal and start to jump and wave their handkerchiefs hoping to get their attention.
They toss it into the crowd of Ever girls, they jump so high most of them landed in a golden blonde hair girls arms, meanwhile another blonde girl got some too but she had green eyes. They start showing off to the Nevers across from them, I hear the sounds of booing and gags, but someone caught my eye, she had long raven black hair, her face was covered and she wore the Nevers signature uniform, I noticed her just watch the chaos ensue.
Then it was my moment to shine, I place my two fingers together and began to blow a sound from the top of a balcony, it brought all their attention to me,
"You guys really do love to show off" I scoff and look at the eyes looking at me, it almost made me uncomfortable but I just had to power through,
"Let me show you a real fight" I grip onto the rope and glided in the air onto the halls grand flooring, I turn to face the boys,
Black, curly hair and tanned skin was on my left on the Nevers side, it was Nicholas, in the center was a ginger haired boy who was shaking as he held his sword, and boys with blonde hair and brunette were surrounding hid area, on my right was Chaddick, and beside his was Tristan.
I charge in to the sent separating the boys, i stood up just in time to get clash into the ginger haired boys sword and successfully steal it off him then kicked his chest, knocking him to the ground. Behind me more of them came rushing to me, I link my sword with on and blocked another with my other one, I kicked and punched their unprotected sides knocking them down.
Chaddick came rushing with Tristan beside him, I sweep my feet under Tristans and knocked out Chaddick when I dropped one of my swords to the ground.
"Now that's a fight" my ears hear booing and shouts from the Nevers and I look over to three of them cackling one eating chocolate, I see the girl I spotted before, but her head was in her sleeves.
"Nah, that is not a fight!" A cyclops begins to step forward to me, he had a grabbed an axe from one of the wolf guards, he looked over to Lady Lesso behind me and she just shrugged,
"Let me show you a fight, Pretty boy", I look at his stance on the floor watch as he swung the axe at me, I duck and roll away from him, I take out Excalibur from my side and point at his direction.
He starts to charge at me, then I struck my sword into the ground giving a hard blow knocking him down, I hear one of the Nevers shout,
"No fair he has a magical sword!", I ignore them and continue to defend myself, knowing the rules, I can mostly defend myself,
'Nevers attack, Good DEFENDS'
I charge at him with all my might, and dodge his strikes, I hit my sword against the axe, and it flew out of his hand, tossed into the sky and I duck away as it sliced off his arm.
The Evers cheer so loud, meanwhile the Nevers groaned, I get ready to toss my rose into the Ever crowd, I look over my shoulder to the Nevers trying to mock my winning, that's when I saw her face, the girl with raven hair, it was beautiful, I don't know why but was so different, she begins to listen to the chubby girl beside her who was eating the chocolate,
Before I realized it my rosed got thrown to a blonde hair girl with greens eye, I turned to her, I just gladly smile and took my seat in an empty spot, but the girl with golden blonde hair saved a spot next to her and pulled me in, she gestured to the other girl to give her the rose,
"Sorry he meant that for me" she said slyly, taking it from her palms
"Oh I'm sorry but he tossed it to me" she takes it back, they begin the fight over it, but I couldn't pull away.
The ceremony began, the voices from Professor Dovey were becoming silent, they blurred from the head. My eyes look at the raven hair girl, she was quiet but seemed different, I look over to the girls still fighting but the Professors on stage don't bother to interfere.
That girl, I wanna know her, speak to her, but she is a Never, but for some reason I would love her anyways.

The ceremony was finally over, i dig my fingers into my ears checking if my ears were okay from Professor Castor's shouting the whole time, I leave out the east exit with the other boys to the dining hall while the Nevers took the west exit.
We walk into the room the table was filled with food from the door way to the other door to the other side. Everyone began to gather to different tables, I sat on the table the was closet to the table that sat across from the Nevers and across from that girl.
Beside me Beatrix was linking her arms with me while Sophie began talking about her life in Gavaldon, the boys are so interested in her story's, their eyes were like entranced by her beauty, but it didn't bother me, the other girls listened in too. The fairies hovered everywhere bringing food to everyone, as they brought our plates i watch as some of the girls turn it away, saying it had too many fat and carbs. And continued to listen in to Sophie's conversation.
"Then this girl from my village Agatha she came here with me", I look at her, I poke her arm trying to catch her attention,
"Yes?" Her green eyes look at mine, I ask her who Agatha was cause since she's the Ever Reader that means the Never Reader is Agatha, I asked her point to us who she was,
She peeked over my shoulder, and pointed to the table across the room, the girl that sat on the left with the chubby girl who was at the end, it was her, so that was her name.
"Yeah that's her, she was abandoned at a young age, and was raised by Callis", we all look at her, Callis as in the Nevers Potions and Uglifying Professor who was sitting at the teachers table at the second level in the dining room next to Professer Sheeba.
"So she is a Never Reader but her mother is a Never teacher?" I look at her with confusion so did Beatrix, Sophie didn't like explaining things and brushed off my question. I continue to eat my food but it was kinda difficult when I couldn't use both my hands, Beatrix smiled at me and I tried to smile back but the feeling of her close this early is very not comfortable.
Luckily or I hope she isn't gonna be in all of my classes, I return my gaze to the table across us, Agatha's hair flowed over her face, she struggled with it and kept tucking it behind her ear until I saw her mom walk over and placed a bone made clip in her hair to stop it from falling, she gave her a kiss mark and walked away, the Nevers mocked her but the with a red streak in her hair hissed at them which called them off.
We hear a clap from the second level,
"Time for bed everyone! Remember curfew!" Professor Dovey said with a dearly smile, I was finally felt free once I got released from Beatrix's grasp and headed to my room.

Oh my god, I flop onto my bed while the boys went to the groom room, permission from our professor to get washed off from the ceremony.
My roommates were Nicholas, Chaddick, and Tristan. I took the end bed next to the balcony, I sigh in relieve from today. Chaddick is next to me,
"You did great man" he gave me a homely smile, and he elbowed my arm, "You got lots of ladies for you to choose for the Snow Ball, I wonder who will be the new Camelot Queen" I punch his shoulder, I look at my palms and remember all the girl we saw in the ceremony, I didn't catch all their names, but the ones who sat with us at dinner,
Kiko, Reena, Millicent, Giselle, Beatrix and Sophie. My mind remembered how they acted they all acted the same, would look pretty but not act nice, or just look pretty and do whatever a guy told her.
But I couldn't stop thinking about Agatha and her flowing hair, it wasn't clean or brush properly like the others, her clothes weren't so rich and pink, and her laugh doesn't seemed forced, I hope maybe I might get to meet her,
What am I saying! She's a Never!, I walk over to the balcony to see the Nevers school so gloomy and dark, the wolves blocked off their exits and changed shifts for the night to come. Maybe, just maybe, Nevers aren't so bad.
I walk back to my bed while Nicholas and Tristan began to walk in after their baths, "You guys can go now before curfew" Tristan gave us a bright smile, Nicholas raised up his hand gave me a high five and chucked his arm around me,
"Well done, Teddy, you did so great today" he was squeezing my cheeks, my eyes glare at him with annoyance, Teddy?,
"Where did you get that name from?" He turned to me as he tossed his towel on the ground without a care that it was soaking with his body water, and plopped onto the bed next to Chaddick's.
"Bea, she was going around the hallway saying to the girls, "Teddy gave me his rose!" While Sophie was yelling at her that she was lying and that she got it but Beatrix stole it, and they squabbled until the fairies pinched their ears to shut up, but one of them bit Beatrix's nose for some reason" he crossed his legs and arms and leaned back on his pillows like a king.
I roll my eyes at the Teddy name, and grabbed Chaddick to head to the groom room.
I sat in the tub staring at the ceiling, the lights were so bright, and the room was very big, I look at my reflection in the mirror, and I thought to myself.
Nevers can't date Evers and Evers can't date Nevers, over and over again but the thought won't leave my mind, tomorrow I'll just try meet her once, just once, the tales might be wrong who knows she might be nice.
