Chapter Text

The day Izuku met his… best friend? Brother? wasn’t the weirdest day of his life, but it was up there due to sheer absurdity.

He was relaxing at a park when he encountered two of Kaachan’s friends. Well the word, friends, was stretching the word a bit. They were more like hanger-ons, his cronies. The people who followed Kaachan because of his power, feeding into his ego. Izuku was a bit embarrassed to admit that he didn’t know their names despite being in the same class for the past few years. He only recognized them because of their quirks.

The one on the left could elongate his fingers a few feet in front of him, a useful quirk if he wanted to grab something from across the room but didn’t feel like getting up. The other could grow devil wings out of his back, allowing him to fly. He nicknamed them Fingers and Wings in his head.

They had him backed against a tree, down at him with vicious smiles. Kaachan himself wasn’t there. For what reason, Izuku didn’t know. However, that didn’t stop them from bullying him when Kaachan wasn’t around. When you’re at the bottom of the totem pole in regards to your quirk and social status, you become everyone’s plaything, even those whose quirks were more or less mediocre.

“Heeey, Deku! Good to see you!” Wings said as if he were an old friend. Izuku could hear the malice in his voice.

Fingers grinned beside him. “I almost didn’t see him with how his hair blends in with the trees. The hell are you doing here outside of school?”

Izuku looked nervously at the ground. “I-It’s the weekend.”

“And somehow you’re still being an eyesore. We were having a good day until you came along, but then you had to go and ruin it.”

“You’re the ones who—”

Finger’s smile turned cold. “What was that?” He snapped.

Izuku flinched, pressing himself back against the tree as much as he could. He didn’t dare meet Finger’s eyes, hoping that he would just ignore his little outburst.

“I’m sorry, are you saying that this was our fault?” Fingers scoffed. He looked at Wings and gestured at Izuku. “Can you believe this guy?”

Wings looked at Izuku in mock disbelief. “He wants to be a hero and he’s blaming other people for his failures? Not very heroic isn’t it?”

“Not at all,” Fingers concurred, shaking his head. “Well it’s not like he had the potential to become a hero anyway, being a quirkless loser and all.”

There was a familiar stab of shame at the mocking of his dream. Izuku shoved it down and put it to the side. “True, true.” Wings turned back to Izuku. “Tell you what? We were having a good day, so we’ll let you off the hook this time.” At this, Izuku finally met their eyes, hopeful. “All you got to do is give us a little compensation for our troubles.”

That hope abruptly died in his chest. “W-What?

“Money, Deku. He means money.” Fingers clarified. “Geeze, for someone with such good grades, you can be really dumb at times.

“Creepy, fucking loser. Now cough it up.”

He almost did. Izuku reached into his pocket to grab his wallet, only to pause as he realized what he was doing.

His mom had just given him his allowance two days ago. It wasn’t much, but it was enough to buy the new limited edition All Might Golden Age costume hoodie that was being sold next week. If he gave it to them, he wouldn’t be able to buy it.

It came down to a question of whether or not he wanted the hoodie more than he wanted to not be beaten up. The hoodie was on sale for another three months. If he waited a little bit, he could just buy it next month when his mom gave him his allowance again.

Izuku blinked, realizing what he was just about to do. Was… was this what he was resorting to? Giving bullies his money in the hopes that they didn’t hurt him? This was different from getting beaten up by Kaachan. He just looked down on Izuku, wanting nothing more than for him to get out of the way as he climbed to the top.

Izuku has heard stories of students getting their money taken by bullies. Once it started, it never stopped. Their victims just became a wallet with a bottomless pit for bullies to call upon whenever they wanted. He knew that if he gave them his money now, he would end up the same way.

“N-no.”

Fingers and Wings narrowed their eyes. “Scuse me?” Fingers asked.

“I-I said no!” Izuku exclaimed as head snapped up, “You’re calling me villainous? Y-Your literally extorting me! D-Didn’t you want to be heroes like Kaachan? How can you when you’re acting like villains yourselves?”

As soon as the words passed through his lips, he paled and covered his mouth. Wings and hands exchanged a glance as if saying, are you seeing this? Before sneering at him again. Fingers punched Izuku in the stomach, knocking the wind out of him and making his knees tremble. He caught Izuku by the collar, holding him up so that he could look him in the eye.

“Well, now you’ve done it, Deku.” Fingers sneered. “We were being generous before, but now you’ve officially pissed me off. Now,” He pulled back a fist, “Grit your teeth.”

Izuku closed his eyes, holding them out in front of his face as he braced himself for a punch. In hindsight, he should have known it would end up like this. Only this time, instead of just getting beaten up, he was also going to have his money taken from him. Well, at least he wasn’t going to have any burns this time.

Clap!

Izuku collapsed onto his hands and knees, feeling Finger’s grip disappear from his collar. He looked up, confused, finding that he wasn’t in the same position he was in moments ago. A look behind him showed Fingers and Wings, who were just as confused at Izuku’s disappearance while a stone dropped into the grass in front of them.

"By oneself, indeed, is evil done. By oneself is one defiled. By oneself is evil left undone. By oneself, indeed, is one purified.” A voice said from behind him. A tall figure stepped past him. Fingers and Wings whirled around, only to take a nervous step back at the figure’s stature.

He was wearing a regular T-shirt and jeans, with his hair tied into a ponytail. He stepped in front of Izuku, tilting his chin into the air, holding his arms out to his sides, presenting himself. “To think otherwise would be the height of foolishness.”

Fingers extended one of his digits at him. “Who the hell are you?”

The man smiled. “Todo Aoi, middle school second year. Introduction over.”

He was the same age as them? He was taller than most adults!

“Now, I have a question for the both of you” His arms rose, hands gripping the collar of his shirt. “What kind of woman is your type?”

… What?

All three of them stared at him, processing his words like a trio of dying computers. All three of them bluescreened and died. “Um… Excuse me?” Wings asked.

“A person’s taste reveals everything about them.” Todo answered. “Guys with boring tastes are boring, while guys with interesting tastes are interesting. I hate boring guys.”

Wings and Fingers looked at Izuku as if he could parse what Todo was saying, but he was just as lost as they were. To be honest, Izuku didn’t want to even touch whatever the hell this pervert was thinking.

“Depending on your answer I’ll beat you half to death, and by the way…”

Todo ripped his shirt off for no apparent eason. The fabric tore as if it were made of paper, revealing his sculpted body beneath. Izuku couldn’t help but be a bit jealous. Todo had a body most bodybuilders wished they had. He knew that the Greek god body type was generally unrealistic, but Todo came pretty close.

“I like tall girls with a huge ass!”

Wings and Fingers looked at each other. Fingers stepped forward, color dusting his cheeks. “I don’t really get it, but I like kind girls who have a fun personality and share the same interests.”

Wings nodded. “Yeah, It would be nice if they were kinda cute, but that’s not a deciding factor for me.”

A good answer. Izuku could confidently say that he would want a girl with those same qualities as well. Someone who was nice and loved talking about heroes and quirks with him while putting aside the fact that he was qui—

“I knew it,” Todo said, dejected. “You’re both boring.”

He closed the gap between them in an instant, catching Wings in a haymaker before throwing him against a tree. His neck was caught between it and Todo’s arm in a vice grip, making his eyes bulge and his tongue stick out as the hold tightened like a guillotine. His eyes rolled into the back of his head, knocking him out instantly.

“Wha— Hey!” Fingers shouted. “What the hell do you think you’re—”

Todo whirled in his direction, throwing a punch at his face and driving his head into the ground. The ground cratered beneath Finger’s head, and Izuku couldn’t help but be a bit worried for his health. Hopefully he wouldn’t get a concussion or brain damage from this.

Todo stood up, dusting off his hand as he stared down at the both of them in annoyance. “How disappointing. Their bodies and taste in women.” He looked at Izuku, who couldn’t help but flinch as his gaze fell upon him. “Are you planning on laying on the ground forever? Stand already.”

“R-Right!” Izuku squeaked as he stood.

There was a scar going from Todo’s forehead vertically over his left eye. Izuku wondered where he got it. And how did he teleport Izuku away from Wings and Fingers earlier? Was it his quirk? If he could teleport people without having to touch him, he could be one of the best rescue heroes in Japan. Was there a limit in regards to how much he could teleport? Could he teleport multiple things at the same time? What if—

“You’re muttering.”

Izuku’s mouth clamped shut as Todo stared down at him. Izuku came up to the shirtless boy’s chest, shorter than him by about two heads. He swallowed as Todo gave him a once-over, and Izuku felt like he had already failed an unspoken test judging by the look that he was giving him.

“What is your name?”

“M-Midoriya I-I-Izuku. T-Thank you for saving me.”

Todo let out an uninterested hum. “Are you a boring man, Midoriya?”

Izuku blinked. “B-boring? I wouldn’t really know. Everyone at school thinks I’m a loser so…”

Something entered his eyes. Compassion? Pity? Annoyance? A combination of all three? “I shall be the judge of that,” He spoke. “Tell me Midoriya, what kind of woman is your type?”

He should have expected that.

A quick peek around Todo reminded Izuku that he had knocked Wings and Fingers both out with a single blow. It didn’t matter that he saved Izuku from them seconds earlier. If he answered wrong, he was definitely going to die.

It was clear that the answer Todo was looking for wasn’t ‘a kind girl with a nice personality.’ He probably wanted… wanted…

Heat rushed up Izuku’s neck as he realized what Todo wanted to hear. He suddenly became very aware of the people around him. There was a woman pushing a stroller as her daughter walked alongside her. A trio of high schoolers—two girls, one boy—chatted amongst each other, laughing at something the boy said. A woman in a suit talked on the phone, ignoring everything around her as she focused on her conversation.

Todo ignored all of them, staring down at Izuku with his arms crossed, eyes leaving no room for jokes or humor.

Welp, it was either give a perverted answer or die. Izuku knew what he would rather do. He just wasn’t the better liar.

Though then again, the best lies have a bit of truth sprinkled into it.

That didn’t make it any better.

“P-proportion.” Izuku muttered.

Todo raised a brow. “Come again?”

“Proportion.” Izuku repeated a bit louder, hoping that the people walking around them wouldn’t hear. “I like a girl with… good proportions.”

He swallowed as Todo pondered his answer. “That,” He proclaimed after a moment. “Is an answer I have never heard before. Please elaborate.”

The intensity in his eyes suddenly vanished, replaced with genuine curiosity. While Izuku was relieved that he was probably not in danger of dying, he wanted to crawl into a hole. Was it too late to get beaten up by Kaachan’s cronies again? Izuku might rather have his money taken than to keep talking about this.

“W-well,” he began, blood rushing to his face with each passing second. “Big b-breasts and b-b-butts are nice, b-but, um, well…” He looked up at Todo. “Have you seen anime?”

“I have.”

“T-then you’ve seen how anime tends to give girls h-huge b-b-breasts and… b-butts disspro-proportionate to their bodies. It’s, um, unrealistic, and at that point, uh, starts to look ugly. So uh… M-my type of woman is n-not too big, n-not too small either, but j-just right.”

Todo craned his neck to the sky, gears turning in his head while Izuku took on a flawless impression of a tomato. Thankfully, Todo wasn’t looking at him. At some point he had started muttering to himself, almost as if he was having a conversation with someone.

After a minute Todo looked back at Izuku, meeting his eyes once again. “After consulting with Takada-chan for five days, I have come to a decision.” Izuku blinked. It’s only been a minute, and who was Takada-chan? Before he could ask, Todo suddenly bowed at a perfect ninety-degree angle. “Midoriya, upon meeting you, I had the impression that you were weak and boring. It seems I have underestimated you. I apologize.”

Izuku shook his head, waving his hands in front of him. “N-not at all, y—”

“For truly, you are an intellectual!” Todo shot back up, grinning madly as he looked at Izuku in pure joy. “Never in my entire life have I met a man with such superior taste in women. I have met many boring men, few interesting men, but this is the first time I have met a refined man!”

He placed both hands on Izuku’s shoulders. “Midoriya, as of today, we are now Besto-Friendos—No… BRUZZAH’S!!!”

Izuku was too stunned to respond as Todo swung an arm around his shoulder and ushered him out of the park. “Come bruzzah! I shall treat you to a bowl of Ramen, and we can celebrate our newfound bruzzahhood together!”

The rest of the day was a blur. The ramen was delicious, and Todo was surprisingly good company—when he wasn’t talking about his preference in women that is. He also went on a long rant about his beloved Takada-chan, who was apparently an idol that Todo was a big fan of.

Unfortunately, Izuku had to answer Todo when he asked what Izuku thought the perfect proportions to a woman were. He was even more embarrassed to admit that he had an actual answer to that question since he stumbled upon a post on the hero forums talking about Midnight’s body. That was one long comment section that he wished he didn’t read.

Afterwards, Izuku made a promise to get together to hang out, and to allow Todo to show him “the wonderful beauty that is Takada-chan,” However, it was only after they parted ways did he realize that he never got Todo’s number.

Izuku collapsed onto his bed tired, but satisfied, fulfilled. It was… nice, to hang out with someone again. It had been so long since he and Kaachan spent time together, that he almost forgot how it felt to have a friend. It was a shame that they would probably never see each other again.

Izuku sat at his desk in Aldera Junior High, waiting for class to start. Wings and Fingers had shown up to class wrapped in bandages. When Kaachan asked what happened, they told him they had gotten beat up. He just scoffed and kicked his feet onto his desk, much to their disappointment.

Izuku still shrunk in on himself, hoping to avoid his attention and get through the day. He was in the middle of planning routes through the school to avoid the three of them when the homeroom teacher walked into the classroom.

“Good morning everyone, it is a bit late into the year, but we have a new student transferring from Shishio Junior High today.” He turned to the door. “Please come in and introduce yourself.”

Wings and Fingers paled as Todo Aoi walked into the classroom, hiding behind the people in front of them as he strode in with absolute confidence. He was wearing their school uniform, an open gakuran with a purple shirt, muscles bulging beneath. Izuku watched with dread as Todo scanned the room, a grin spreading across his face as his eyes landed on Izuku.

Oh god, please don’t—

“BRUZZAH!”

Izuku buried his face in his desk, arms thrown over his head as everyone in the room turned to look at him. Todo started ranting about ‘bruzzahhood’ and ‘Takada-chan,’ and Izuku prayed for the world to swallow him whole and put him out of his misery.

Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. So with trepidation, he lifted his head and met Todo’s wide grin.

Well, at least he had a friend at Aldera now.

Notes:

A few things

First of all, Todo doesn't have cursed energy. His Boogie Woogie is his quirk
Next, Todo can only pronounce the word, brother, as "bruzzah" because I said so.
Finally, Takada-chan exists in this universe, because Todo wouldn't be happy otherwise.
