Ex-General Frey Haendstrom lives alone with his old dog, Boy, in the outskirts of a small countryside town called Hivranns, company nowhere to be seen. His wife dead and living alone, he one day sees a teenager outside his door, holding a map and saying that she wants him to travel with her to a treasure where no one has ever gone to. The hallucinations of his dead wife telling him to live a life, he begrudgingly agrees.
Luanne Gray lives alone in the Freezing inside of an old cathedral with no one to guide her through life and bitter cold outside, only statues of old gods and worn books as company. Sick of waiting for something to change, Luanne goes to leave and finds a map to a long forgotten treasure. She journeys to the Blackened Deserts to find someone who can help her in this endeavour. Enter Frey Haendstrom, a grieving ex-general who she asks to help her.
