Chapter Text
Yuno always felt like he's very dramatic with his own feelings and emotions, he always felt that way since everyone in the church always laughed at him or dismissed him because he was 𝒄𝒓𝒚𝒊𝒏𝒈 too much. He was often called a "𝐜𝐫𝐲𝐛𝐚𝐛𝐲" in Hage village, even Asta often called him that because of how much he cried.
All of these led him to shut everything in order to not feel everything at once and cry but why does many complain that he became too cold? He thought it made everything better but now they complain that he became too cold, too nonchalant but he didn't bother changing himself, he stayed cold.
He thought this somber feeling, this sadness and loneliness will go away but he was wrong, deeply wrong. It became worse ever since he joined the Golden Dawn, he didn't really care what they thought of him, if he was a peasant rat blessed with mana then so be it. It was fine during the early months but it eventually came back. He always faced the war alone but it hurt too much.
He couldn't help but feel jealous whenever he saw the Black Bulls, they were like a family but the Golden Dawn? They couldn't accept him that easily because he was a "peasant" but nonetheless, he still saw them as his seniors but his feelings? It was close to bursting.
𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭
The sky outside was dim and calm, hinting that it was already nighttime, the Golden Dawn members were now preparing to have their beauty sleep. Yuno however, was sitting on the sofa in the living room. His mind was occupied with something.
He already bathe of course, his hair was a bit damp so he didn't have any energy to go to his room just yet. He was thinking too much, he wanted to cry right now but he couldn't even let it out, was the bottle too tight that he felt numb.
"Yuno, You alright?
He snapped back into reality as he looked at Mimosa, he wasn't like this, he was always alerted and could even sense mana so how come he was like this?
"I'm fine"
Yuno replied as he sighed, it was only in his head, that would many people say and in the end, he believed them. He looked at his wrist, a bracelet that he made because he thought it'll make him happy somehow but he was wrong to make it.
He took it off as he stood up and gave it to Mimosa. Mimosa's eyes widened, unsure how to react and gave him a worried look.
"Why are you giving it to me? Didn't you make it for yourself?"
"I did...but you can keep it"
Mimosa looked at the bracelet, it had many flowers on it and she realized about the upcoming festival in Kikka town since Asta invited her and Klaus last night.
"I forgot to tell you, Asta invited us to a festival in Kikka town, perhaps you want to join us? It'll happen at night"
Mimosa asked as she took the bracelet from Yuno, she had a bad feeling about this. When Yuno mentioned Asta's name, he couldn't help but think about why he wasn't invited, he did always say that he was busy but this quite...hurt him mentally but he shrugged it off.
"Sure, I'm not that busy tomorrow"
Upon hearing Yuno's answer, Mimosa smiled from ear to ear. She was happy that Yuno agreed to join them, she did noticed from the past few days that he was quite stressed out and well, not his usual self so maybe a little break will make his feelings a little lighter.
"That settles it then! Goodnight and thank you for the bracelet oh and don't forget to wear something nice for tomorrow!"
Yuno nodded and watched as Mimosa went to her room to rest, he sighed and scratched his head, he felt like he was carrying something heavy within him but he shrugged it off and went to his own room to rest.
𝐈𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠
For some reason, Yuno couldn't sleep so he stayed up a little bit later than usual but woke up early, he didn't bother standing up just yet, even if Bell constantly annoyed him so he could stand up or get out of bed.
He didn't have the energy to argue with a sylph so he stayed quiet till he heard a knock on his door, he knew who it was.
"Yuno! Wake up already, captain is waiting for you to come down!"
He sighed and sat up, he spaced out for a bit before forcing himself to stand up and change. After changing, he opened the door and met Klaus with a worried face.
"Is everything alright–
"I'm fine, don't dwell on it"
Yuno replied quickly, not letting Klaus to finish which led the blue haired man angry but he didn't bother with it, he simply went downstairs.
Klaus was used to this kind of behavior so he sighed and followed Yuno, he could tell the young man didn't slept well because of his eye bags. Eventually, he cleared his throat as they walked together towards the kitchen where everyone is waiting.
"Mimosa invited you to a festival right?"
"She did, why?"
Klaus smiled a little and felt a bit relief that Yuno agreed to it and cleared his throat once again.
"Nothing, I thought she didn't say anything to you at all"
Yuno raised an eyebrow and watched Klaus being all giddy and such but again, he dismissed it as they arrived at the table.
He sat down on his own seat, next to Mimosa while Klaus also sat next to him, making him in the middle. William smiled as everyone was present and began to eat while the others followed.
The atmosphere changed to a chatty and comfortable one, for others, but Yuno? This was his discomfort. He didn't eat just yet, he waited for the others to take few bites before he forced himself to eat.
His plate didn't have many food, it was only a piece of bread, half piece of steak and mashed potatoes. Klaus noticed it and frowned as he elbowed Yuno to get his attention.
"Aren't you going to eat more?"
Klaus's question made everyone to look at them, Yuno sighed and nodded, the rest of the food is actually for Bell while he only ate a little.
"My, my, you need to eat something at least"
Hamon spoke which made William to look at Yuno. His expression was unreadable as he saw how little food his junior have.
"Yuno, eat more at least, you look pale"
William spoke with concern but Yuno didn't say anything, he only stared at the food, his golden eyes were unfocused. William knew that his junior was dissociating. Klaus sighed and took Yuno's plate, making him snap back in reality.
"What are you doing–
Yuno stopped when Klaus put the plate back with many food on it, he doesn't know how to eat all of this but he heard Klaus speak.
"You should eat, Yuno. You're not eating enough"
Yuno didn't bother to say anything, not when Klaus looked at him like a strict parent who was getting concerned then he ate, he forced himself to do so because he knew it would be a waste if he didn't.
𝐀𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐟𝐚𝐬𝐭
Yuno vomited on the toilet bowl, seems like he ate too much, he wiped his mouth and cleaned the toilet bowl then stood up. He went to the sink and washed his face with clean water.
He couldn't help but think, will he always feel like this? He doesn't like it, he couldn't help but think about the past, 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆 𝒉𝒆 𝒂𝒍𝒎𝒐𝒔𝒕 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒊𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒔𝒖𝒊𝒄𝒊𝒅𝒆.
Perhaps that would be another way to get out of this hellhole, he just can't handle everything right now heck, he can't even open up to Asta because of how busy they got.
He blinked and realized he was in front of his room, did he transported or did his body moved unconsciously? He doesn't know, his mind was getting foggy. He shook his head and went inside.
He closed his door and glanced at the cabinet, the festival in Kikka was near so shouldn't he at least prepare ahead of time? Bell's voice was suddenly heard beside him
"Are you seriously going there and not date me?"
"No...Asta's there"
"Hmph! You always think about that snobby and short guy! What about me?!"
Yuno didn't bother responding when his communication device rang, he took it out of his pocket and answered the call.
"Hello?"
"Heya Yuno!"
Asta's loud voice rang and the somber feeling from earlier faded a little, Yuno felt a little relief and could breathe normally, he let out a small smile, the smile he forgot that he has.
"Are you busy right now?"
"Not really..."
"Great! There's a festival going on in Kikka, you should come!"
Yuno was taken aback a little, he thought Asta forgot and Mimosa was the one who remembered to invite him but he was wrong. He forgot how Asta would always invite him the day a festival would happen.
"You there Yuno?"
Asta was now getting concerned, he could tell that but he couldn't help but smile from ear to ear, that somber feeling was now gone and was replaced with happiness and that usual feeling he always have around Asta.
"Sure, I'll go"
"Great! Wear the nicest outfit you have!"
Asta's tone was now happier than ever, glad that he was coming but before their call was cut, Yuno asked.
"What time and where should we meet?"
"No need to! I'll pick you up"
"Are you sure?"
"Yep! I talked with Finral-san and he said it's fine"
That statement made Yuno's feeling better, he only nodded and breathe out.
"Alright then, see you"
"See you!"
Their call ended and Yuno was able to breathe, at least that somber feeling was now gone, even all of his negative thoughts faded.
𝐋𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫
A loud knock was heard from Yuno's door, Klaus's voice was also heard, this was what Yuno hated at least.
"I'm coming"
He said a little loud yet calm, Bell looked at him and scoffed, she couldn't believe that the snobby and short guy from the Black Bulls was able to date someone who was beautiful like him.
Yuno eventually stood up and opened his door before Klaus could knock again.
"What?"
He asked in a deadpan way while the blue haired man was standing there, wearing his most expensive Yukata while Yuno wore a simple dark blue Yukata but it was enough to show how beautiful he can be.
Klaus shook his head and cleared his throat, even he couldn't help but find Yuno to be stunning.
"Asta's already outside, waiting for us, he's also with Finral"
Yuno nodded, he only needed to wear the sandals so he took it from his room before closing it. He first wore his white sock then his sandals while he held the box on his hand tightly.
𝐖𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐬𝐭𝐚 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐫𝐚𝐥
Asta was nervous as heck, he shouldn't even be nervous in the first place, it's Yuno, his boyfriend, rival and childhood friend but because of how they rarely see each other, he became a little nervous.
He doesn't know why but in the back of his mind, it was because of how distant they were. Sure they write letters to each other, meeting at missions but do they date that often like before? No
So he's a wreck right now, it was a good thing Vanessa helped him wear a nice outfit, one that fits him the best. Since it was a festival, they decided to wear a Yukata, he wore a black Yukata but obi belt was white.
It was simple but it suited him the best, he sighed deeply and looked at the flowers he bought for Yuno, it was orchids and carnation, it was the flowers that Yuno loved the most. They were the flowers that brings back their sweetest memory (he has those in his room).
He heard Finral sighed and patted him on the shoulder, trying to ease his nervousness.
"Relax Asta-kun"
"I'm trying!"
Asta defended himself because it was true, he shook his head and slightly slapped himself, he needs to collect himself especially when Klaus and Mimosa came downstairs. Mimosa wore a kimono with floral patterns while her hair is in a bun while Klaus wore something simple, a light blue Yukata and black obi.
"Heya guys!"
He called out, his nervousness eased up a little and Finral noted it and waved at the two.
"Oh? Where's Yuno-kun?"
Finral asked and Asta eventually noticed it, Yuno did often went out with Mimosa and Klaus. Klaus fixed his glasses and spoke.
"He's in the bathroom"
"I think not"
Mimosa spoke as she looked up, Asta followed and he couldn't believe what he saw. Yuno came downstairs, maybe he looked normal to others but to Asta? He wasn't, he was entranced on how Yuno looked beautiful, he still has his own features especially the chubby cheeks
He sucked his breath in, heck he couldn't even breathe when Yuno came to him with a smile and that struck him. Yuno was beautiful, beautiful like the stars from above in the night sky, his golden eyes complimented his dark blue Yukata with black obi. He was stunning as always but at this moment, Yuno took Asta's breath away.
"𝒀𝒐𝒖'𝒓𝒆 𝒔𝒐 𝒃𝒆𝒂𝒖𝒕𝒊𝒇𝒖𝒍"
Yuno was taken aback when he heard that from Asta's mouth and slightly blushed. Asta shook his head and chuckled.
"Seems like you took my breath away"
"Shut up"
Mimosa and Klaus only chuckled on the side while Finral cried silently, jealous because of how the two boys were already commiting a relationship.
"Oh, this is for you"
Asta gave the bouquet of Orchids and Carnations which Yuno gladly took. Yuno then gave a box to Asta with that same smile that could make a man's heart to beat loudly.
"That's for you as well"
Asta raised an eyebrow and opened the box, as he opened it, he saw a bracelet, a hand-made one. The beads had intricate designs while in the middle had a sun on it.
"This so cool!"
"Yeah, I also made one for myself"
Yuno exposed his right wrist and eventually the bracelet itself, it was the same but in the middle, it was a moon and stars.
"We're a match!"
Asta chuckled while Yuno nodded, Mimosa then looked at her right wrist as she saw the bracelet Yuno gave last night, the middle had a flower on it, like it was meant for her. She couldn't help but smile.
"Alright, that's enough lovebirds, the festival is going to start"
Finral said and open a portal, Mimosa and Klaus went first while Yuno held on Asta's arm, wanting to feel safe and comfortable while holding the bouquet. Asta looked at him and nodded as they went through the portal. Finral then followed.
