"Can we just go alreadyyy?" Mask asked, rocking back and forth on her feet idly.
"C'mon, you know we can't start without Rider!" Metry exclaimed. "We invited him, it would be rude to start skating without him!"
Mask sighed. "Bro's taking foreveerrrr, though…"
"He'll be here any second!" Metry said. "In fact, he just responded to my text, he's almost here!"
"Good…" Mask muttered.
A few moments later, the door to the ice rink opened, and in walked the yellow-green Inkling the girls were waiting for. Rider was blowing into his hands for warmth, and that's when Metry realized he wasn't dressed for the cold weather at all—he was still wearing his usual leather jacket.
"There you are," Mask said. "Nice to see you, Rai."
"Nice to see you girls too," Rider said, walking up to Mask and Metry.
"Aren't you cold?" Metry said. "You aren't even wearing any gloves!"
"Yeah, it is freezing out there," Rider said, crossing his arms. "But I'm fine."
"You sureee?" Mask said, cocking her head to the side. "You should at least wear a thicker jackeeeet." Mask herself was wearing a thick black jacket that Metry had gotten her, while Metry was wearing a white jacket and fluffy earmuffs. Both of them were wearing gloves as well.
"I'm fine with this jacket, thank you very much," Rider said. "Anyway, we're here to skate, not argue about what I'm wearing."
"I know, but you should've really dressed for the weather…" Metry shook her head, sitting down to put on the ice skates she had rented earlier.
"You know Rider doesn't like to do thaaaaat," Mask said. "He wears that leather jacket even in the summer." Mask chuckled as her remark earned a groan from Rider.
With that, Mask, Metry, and Rider all put on their ice skates, and then went outside to the rink to start skating. Mask was holding Metry's hand tightly as the two of them stepped onto the rink.
"It's slippery…" Mask muttered, trying her best to keep her balance.
"Well yeah, it is ice, silly!" Metry said. "You can keep holding my hand, it's okay!"
Behind Mask and Metry, Rider carefully stepped onto the rink, but immediately slipped and fell onto his butt. Mask laughed and Rider gave her a scowl, as Metry let go of Mask's hand to help Rider up.
"You okay?" Metry asked Rider.
"Yeah…it's just been a while since I skated," Rider said.
"Metryyyy…you let go of my hand," Mask groaned nearby.
"Don't worry dear, here I am!" Metry said. She went over and took Mask's hand again. "See? You didn't fall!"
"Unlike Rider over hereee," Mask said, looking over at Rider and smirking.
"Hey, I don't have a girlfriend to hold my hand," Rider said.
"Well, I do have two of them," Metry said. "Do you want to hold my hand too, Rai?"
"I'll be fine," Rider said, holding on to the edge of the rink, struggling not to slip again.
"He's gonna fall again," Mask muttered to Metry, and Rider gave the two of them another scowl.
"You act like you're any good at skating, Mask," Rider said. "You were falling every two seconds last time with the S4."
"Was noooot," Mask said.
"Yes you were!" Rider exclaimed.
"Don't careeee, I'm skating away with my girlfriend now~" Mask said, as she and Metry did just that.
"Hey!" Rider called out.
He then watched as Mask went too fast and fell down as well, bringing Metry down with her. This, of course, made him burst into laughter.
"Told you you were shit at skating," Rider said, dragging himself over to where Mask and Metry had fallen.
"Yeah, yeah, whateverrrr," Mask muttered, struggling to get up. Metry, however, had gotten up with ease, and so she helped her girlfriend up as well.
"C'mon, hold my hand Rider!" Metry said, reaching out towards Rider. "Don't want to leave you behind again!"
Rider sighed and reluctantly took Metry's hand, and the three of them started skating around the rink together. With Metry guiding both of them, Mask and Rider surprisingly didn't fall again, and they soon got into a rhythm. Mask and Rider began to discuss the latest update on their favorite video game, and Metry, despite not knowing anything, listened to their conversation happily.
After fifteen minutes or so, the three decided to go back inside. They changed back into their boots, and then Metry decided to buy hot chocolate for herself, her girlfriend, and her friend.
"Hot chocolate sounds wonderful," Rider said. "My fingers are freezing."
"Yeah, no wonder, you weren't wearing gloves or anythiiiing," Mask said. "Dork."
"I am not a dork, Mask."
"Says the dork."
"Says the bigger dork." Rider chuckled and playfully elbowed Mask.
Mask rolled her eyes. "That's not even a clever comebaaack."
At that moment, Metry came over with three cups of hot chocolate, giving two of them to Mask and Rider. The three were silent for a bit as they enjoyed their hot chocolate—then, after a few minutes, Metry said, "This has been nice."
"Sure has," Mask said. "We don't hang out with Rider enough."
"Yeah, you two are awesome," Rider said, before taking another sip of his drink. "Except when you're calling me a dork, Mask."
"Well, you act like you're allergic to gloves," Mask said.
"Why would I be allergic to one of my partners?"
Mask burst into laughter, and after a second Metry did too.
"Case provennn~" Mask said.
"You were talking about the garment of clothing." Rider sighed. "I knew that."
"Don't think you did at first, Rai~" Metry said, chuckling.
"Hey! You too?" Rider exclaimed.
"Well yeah, don't think she doesn't see what a dork you areeee," Mask teased.
Rider rolled his eyes, a smile on his face before sipping more of his hot chocolate. "Whatever. Maybe I am."
"I think we're all dorks!" Metry said.
"Yeah…" Mask said. "All dorks, huh?"
