Preservation isn’t so bad, actually.

That’s not to say that I regret leaving the first time they offered me a place here, because I don’t regret it at all. If I’d stayed, maybe I could’ve stopped GrayCris from kidnapping Mensah, but I wouldn’t have had the chance to go back to Ganaka Pit, and I wouldn’t have met ART. I wouldn’t change either of those for anything.

(And I needed to know that I could leave. That’s why I know now that I’m not stuck here. I’m choosing to stay.)

And it was reasonable to be apprehensive about what the Preservation Alliance would actually be like. They still confuse me sometimes, these strange non-corporate humans and the completely different way that they structure their society. Mensah may be my ‘guardian,’ but she is a much more permissive owner than any guardian in the Corporation Rim would be. Plus I can watch as much media as I like and I don’t have to hide that anymore.

Preservation isn’t so bad, and I don’t have any plans to leave anytime soon. Not permanently, at least.

But I still hold onto the hard currency cards they give me every month. Just in case.
