Summary
Macklin had always assumed he’d present as a beta—an alpha, if he was lucky enough.
Clearly, luck wouldn’t meet him.
At sixteen, Macklin had presented as an omega, to the quiet detriment of the entire Celebrini family—but most painfully, to Rick and to himself.
But failing at luck didn’t mean he was barred from the good things in life. Failure in luck didn’t mean failure in life. It would never bar him from the things that mattered.
Because it was never luck that made him the first overall draft pick. Never luck that earned him the Hobey Baker. And it certainly wasn’t luck that convinced the Sharks—or Warsofsky—that he was worthy of an A stitched across his chest.
To say that Macklin Celebrini is lucky to even be in the NHL is a goddam insult.
Those accomplishments were built. Earned. Bled for. Every moment, every game, every scar—he had carved them out himself, proving his worth over and over.
And it was certainly no luck that had brought him here, to Will’s hotel bed, to this quiet, trembling intimacy.

Alternatively; Macklin is an omega. Will is an alpha. And they love each other.
