Work Text:
Jake and Dirk were both sitting on the couch in Dirk's apartment . Dirk is typing away on his computer, engaged in something that obviously required focus from him, but Jake was bored and didn’t care.
After a while of silence between the two Jae began poking Dirk’s arm over and over, repeating he name after each poke.
“So Dirk, how long will that take?” Jake motions his finger towards Dirk's computer screen as he leans back against Dirk's shoulder.
“Not long.” Dirk responds without looking up from what he was working on.
“Alright..” Jake accepts Dirk's answer for a while, but after a few minutes he goes back to poking him.
Dirk adjusted his posture, causing Jake to move up with him. Jake sighs after a while of another round of silence and taps his fingers against his thigh out of boredom.
Jake eventually moves to rubbing his calf against Dirk's foot to get his attention, leaning closer to him and progressively sighing louder and louder.
Dirk calls him out on his antics, “You’re doing that on purpose.”
Jake smiles and looks up at Dirk who’s still glued to his screen, still typing away. “Am I?”
“Yes, you are.”
“Didn’t realize..” Jake awaits a bigger reaction out of Dirk, but as he doesn’t get the reaction he wanted he moves on to bigger things to try and get Dirk's attention.
Jake moves his leg to wrap it around Dirk's thigh, but he accidentally knocks over a candle, it rolls towards the end of the coffee table and Jake hurries off of Dirk to grab the candle.
Dirk finally looks up from his computer to see Jake on the floor, holding the candle, smiling up at him. “Be careful.”
Jake turns around to put the candle back on the table and to replace it to its original spot, “I got it.”
“You clearly don’t.”
“I saved it from falling but okay.” Jake sits back on the couch with a dramatic flop, he lays against Dirk again, laying his head on his shoulder to look at his computer screen.
Jake rethinks another way to get Dirk's attention since the leg thing obviously failed, he wraps his left arm around Dirk. His hand placed on Dirk's stomach gave him an idea. He smiled before he started to tickle Dirk's stomach and laughed as he did so.
Dirk's body tenses up and looks down at Jake, “Jake—“ He tries to pry Jake’s hands away from his stomach but Jake’s continued tickling causes Dirk to start laughing slightly.
“Don’t!” Dirk said while trying to control his laughter. Jake just smiled and tickled him harder, laughing evilly. “Jake!” Dirk yelled while laughing more than before and Jake finally stopped.
Dirk catches his breath, hating that he laughed at Jake’s tickling. Jake looks up at him, “I finally got your attention now.”
“Yeah, now you do. So what do you want so badly that you had to interrupt me?” Dirk said while setting his laptop onto the coffee table to give Jake his undivided attention.
Jake eyed Dirk's mouth. His eyes switched between Dirk's eyes and his lips. “We could.. er..”
“We could do what?” Dirk says slightly annoyed but not entirely mad.
Jake sighed, leaning back against the couch. He backed out of asking what he wanted. He knew Dirk was aggravated already, he didn’t want to ruin his chances of even sitting with him before he kicked him out for being too annoying.
Dirk sighs and looks at his sulking boyfriend next to him. “I know what you mean. Not now.”
Jake felt an intense wave of embarrassment when Dirk caught on to him. “Right.. Er.. N-never mind! Sorry..”
Dirk rubs his face with his hand and laughs softly, “God I can't with you.”
Jake laughs with him out of embarrassment, stop laughing! I know I messed that up bad..”
“I mean I never said no, just.. not now.” Dirk said while grabbing his computer back from the coffee table and began to type again.
“Soo.. later?” Jake said while recovering from their fit of laughter.
“Yeah, later.”
“Okay.”
“Okay.”
