It had been frequently requested a lot on livestreams by their fans that the members of More More Jumpfluff! should do their own individual shows, without each other. It’s not like the fans don't like seeing the idol group formed of coordinators perform together, as they wouldn't be their fans if they didn't, just that they wanted to get a chance to see each individual idol shine on their own stage.
So, today was the day of Shizuku’s solo performance. Minori and Haruka were probably on a date or something, but Airi came along to be her emotional support. She planned to just watch the performance from the sidelines of the stage and be her number one supporter without anyone else knowing she was there.
Shizuku had specifically picked out the Super Contest Hall in Hearthome City as her venue for her concert. She had taken a real liking to Sinnoh when More More Jumpfluff! did their first contest circuit in that region, so she wanted to honour the Sinnoh region by performing there again.
And also because she wanted to head to Amity Square after with Airi to frolic in the fields with her and both of their pokémon, but that's a more insignificant reason…
---
It was now time for the concert to start. There were thousands of Shizuku fans in the crowd, all with their mint blue glow sticks to bring some light to the darkness they stood in. Shizuku came down from the ceiling above the stage, encased in a teardrop shaped dome, with tear drop lights falling down the backdrop and the curtains either side of the stage. When it landed, it shattered, and she came out, ready to dance and sing.
Airi was watching from behind the side curtains of the stage. She had a clipboard in her hand, writing down ideas she liked from her fellow idol’s show to inspire curtains aspects when she does her own solo show. But, she tried not to spend the whole concert jotting down notes, as she also had focus on Shizuku herself.
The amazing, beautiful and perfect Shizuku. People say there is no such thing as a perfect person, but Airi believes otherwise when she stands in the presence of her. Even though she does have her flaws, such as being air headed and bad with technology, other than that, she's flawless.
Shizuku doesn't like it when Airi spends so much time praising her rather than herself, but she just can't help it. She's an icon. She is someone who needs to be supported, adored and admired at all times.
And Airi sure does a lot of admiring of her...
To start off the show, Shizuku decided to get out her moon ball and bring out her shiny Gardevoir. Both the coordinator and her pokémon started off the song by dancing together before starting to use some of the pokémon's psychic abilities to good use.
As the teardrops in the backdrop turned into stars, Gardevoir used Misty Terrain to create a pink fog that surrounded the stage, and then Psychic to lift both her and her trainer into the air. They spun around together in the air whilst the audience clapped.
And so did Airi. Gardevoir was Shizuku’s very first pokémon, gifted to her as a Ralts at a very young age, along with her sister, so it felt right that she performed with her first. Shizuku had considered performing with her shiny Milotic first, as that is what would have been expected by her fans with how much her Milotic gets used in makeup advertisements with her, but it was Airi that convinced her to go with what she wants to do instead.
Airi’s shiny Lopunny admires Gardevoir a lot, to the point that she has a secret crush on her, which not even the idols know about. Ever since she started performing with her trainer when she was a Bunneary, she has felt this way, and even back when the two coordinators were rivals too. Lopunny always looks up to her for inspiration, and was convinced that she wanted to learn how to Mega evolve after watching Gardevoir do it for the first time.
Lopunny was currently standing beside Airi, watching this first part of the performance just for Gardevoir. She had stars in her eyes as she watched her and Shizuku twirl in the air, and wished she could do something like that with her trainer as well.
Shizuku and Gardevoir continued to sing together, even when the pokémon began to Mega evolve. The idol had decided to pick a blue dress that also contained black patterns on it to match with her mega evolved form.
The pokémon then used Dazzling Gleam to add a sparkly effect to the Misty Terrain, and to themselves as they posed just before the song ended. After that, the idol sent back her first Pokémon and brought out her second pokémon, Altaria.
The song immediately started off with Shizuku getting onto Altaria and flying in circles in the air, causing the dazzling pink mist to continue to swirl around the stage. The backdrop turned into a cloudy sky as the pokémon began to use Draco Meteor, causing glowing meteorites to fall to the stage floor, causing explosions of light and bright colours.
The idol and her pokémon soared back down to the stage and landed smoothly. Altaria then used Cotton Guard to cause clusters of cotton, that looked a lot like clouds, to form on the stage, which the two then began to dance on.
Airi chuckled to herself by how sweet it was, but it was a tad bittersweet since those two weren't able to start out that way. Originally, Shizuku had caught a Swablu which happened to be male, and asked her manager if he could be used in performances and advertisements, but was originally denied as the Swablu wasn't female, so he wouldn't be cute enough to perform on stage. Shizuku was told to catch a female one instead, but she lied and brought back her own Swablu, as he wanted to perform so badly, and without checking any further, her manager allowed it.
It was something that really annoyed Shizuku when it came to her managers, but also being a part of the idol group Cheerful*Daybreaks. She is so glad she has left now, and that she has found herself with More More Jumpfluff!, as they were able to help her open up about this and bring light to the situation.
Airi is still so proud of her for doing that. It makes her smile, just as much as it makes her smile with the way that her Skitty looks at her Altaria. Skitty has always been completely fascinated by the pokémon, probably because he's a flying type and his wings look so fluffy, but it just means that Airi always has to cradle her in her arms to avoid her running onto the stage to jump into the pokémon's soft wings.
It didn't help when Shizuku then Mega evolved Altaria, making him look even more fluffy and even more like a cloud, with such a dangling tail too. The pokémon finished off the song using Dragon breath to create a colourful display before being sent back. The next pokémon sent out was Clefable, who did a few jumps to hype herself before getting ready to dance along with her trainer.
Shizuku and Clefable have a pretty similar dancing style, so they were both able to sync up their moves very quickly. Airi wasn't sure if it was because they were both as air headed as each other or not, but either way, they worked really well together.
It was expected by the audience for Shizuku to Mega evolve her Clefable, as she does have the right Mega stone to do so, but both them and Airi knew that wouldn't be happening. Ever since the Mega evolution for Clefable was discovered, Shizuku has been continuously requested to Mega evolve to her pokémon, even though that isn't what Clefable wanted.
Despite not wanting to disappoint her fans, she decided against Mega evolving her, even after buying a Mega stone by persuasion of her fans, because she didn't want to go against her pokémon's wishes and be forced into generating content for the sake of it, even though she was harassed shortly after she made a short and vague statement about it.
Shizuku always stays true to herself now that she is with More More Jumpfluff!, and Airi loves that about her. She isn't afraid to be herself anymore, and day by day, she is able to shine more as her own individual person, away from the expectations of Cheerful*Daybreaks.
In fact, Airi would go so far to admit that she loves Shizuku. She truly is an inspiration, and a dear friend, but also someone she would love to spend the rest of her life with. The way her heart pounds whenever she dresses so elegantly and when she sings so softly, it is now as clear as day that she loves her with all her heart.
But, Airi only came to the realisation that she was in love with Shizuku whilst she was still on stage. She felt embarrassed about it, and it showed by how red her face flushed when she thought hard about it, but it wasn't like she could just run on to the stage and declare her feelings right there and then.
No, she would have to keep it together until after the performance had ended. Shizuku only had three more songs left, meaning three more pokémon to dance with before the show was over. She knew she could wait that long, so she ignored the way her heart pounded so she could carry on as the supportive friend she was for just a little longer.
Besides, she didn't have any other choice, as if she weren't to keep her eyes on Clefairy for even a second, she would just dart off and over to Clefable without even realising the performance was still going on. Her Clefairy admires Clefable a lot, and always fangirls about her to her trainer when the pokémon wasn't around. She looked up to her like she was her big sister, and it always made both idols smile.
Maybe Airi could wait for just a little longer, just to see the rest of her pokémon admire Shizuku's pokémon, just as she admires her…
---
Once Shizuku performed her final three songs, the show was over, and she headed to the sidelines to see what Airi thought of the performance as a whole. Her words meant everything to her, so she hoped she wouldn't criticise too much…
But, as she walked over to Airi, she noticed that she looked to be spellbound, caught in some trance. This concerned her, so she quickened her pace to get to her faster, and so did her pokémon too. Gardevoir teleported over to see Lopunny, Altaria flew over to Skitty, and Clefable jogged over to Clefairy.
The pokémon all immediately began to say what they needed to with each other, but before Shizuku could even speak, Airi quickly interrupted her, as she had a lot to say, much more than the pokémon could ever manage to.
"Shizuku, your performance was amazing!" Airi began to fangirl herself over everything, "Your move choices and the pokémon selection you made for each song were spot on! Also, I really need to get the person who produced those fantastic backdrops on my team when I do my own solo performance, because those were amazing too!"
"Oh," Shizuku's jaw dropped a little, "Th-thank you, Airi-chan!"
"But, even more amazing than the performance was yourself! I know I must tell you this all the time, but you are amazing!" She complimented, "So, so amazing!"
"I do appreciate that you admire me a lot, but-" She was about to remind her about the rule where Airi isn't allowed to overpraise her, when Airi barely praises herself despite how hard she works, but she was quickly interrupted.
"But, it isn't just that I adore you as a friend and a fellow idol, but that I love you too!" Airi confessed, "And-! And-!"
She couldn't get the rest of her words out, so she leaned in and kissed her instead. The kiss was short, but it was long enough for Airi's face to turn as red as a Tamato berry.
After watching her trainer do that, Lopunny did the same with Gardevoir. She did love her just as much as their trainers do, so she might as well get that across.
But, after that, both of them panicked. They needed to escape and run away as fast as they could.
"Anyway, I'll start h-heading to Amity Square! See you there!" Airi informed briskly, "Byyyeeee!"
And with that, both of them made a run for it, leaving behind Skitty and Clefairy with Shizuku and her pokémon. Shizuku and Gardevoir turned to look at each other and just giggled to themselves before they made their way to Amity Square, taking a slower route to let Airi and Lopunny blow off some steam and prepare for this outing, which would now be a date, in a way...
