Papyrus is worried about Sans. He visits Toriel to ask for her help.
Toriel can’t help but repeat her mistakes.
Podfic length: 17 minutes
Note: Papyrus, already a loud speaker, raises his voice in this story. I edited the peaks down a bit, but mind the volume!

Thanks for listening!
I love this story's depiction of Toriel's difficulties with caring for her own wellbeing, with this visual of her spacing out washing her paws far too long, as if there's enough cold water in the world to wash away her regrets.
The way she can and does gather herself to look out for someone else, only to make more mistakes in her attempt to help for to regret...? Ouch. It fits with how she initially treats Frisk as something of a stand-in for all the children she'd already lost, like if she can just get it RIGHT this time...
I also love her catching that Papyrus's speech about his concerns for Sans was practiced, given all his canon practiced monologues.
(Did you ever lose to his fight, and go to fight him again without reloading? He has a different pre-battle speech each time, it's worth seeing! But, interesting in a characterization sense, his lines in the battle repeat verbatim - another practiced monologue!)
This story and its connected fic, Moths and Fireflies, are both stories where Papyrus raises his voice in anger rather than general capslocking, and portraying the emotion there is very cathartic!
...They also meant I had to finally learn about the Limiter and Compressor effects in Audacity, to quiet those sections down a bit. :P Let me know if they still peak too much for you!
