Picnics

Summary:

When the Lalaloopsies have a picnic, it's a big fuss! Cinder Slippers goes to the beach with Jewel Sparkles in a storm; Spot Splatter Splash and Harmony B. Sharp upset Sherri Charades' lunch; and Dyna Might rockets to the Moon for a picnic! (#.LFW01)

Notes:

Welcome to season 37! This episode is inspired by the Mr. Men Show episode of the same name, which aired on September 8, 2009. I've been writing these episodes based on the UK dubs of these episodes, which always omit one scene, but here, I added the omitted scene just so I could get the last episode with Mr. Funny's theme in it out. This was a fun one to put together, and it goes to show, the Lalaloopsies have so many ways to have a wonderful picnic!

Enjoy this fun and crazy Lalaloopsy picnic adventure I put together!

Work Text:

The episode started at the green field in Lalaloopsy Land, where all the Lalaloopsy dolls were enjoying their picnics. "Ah, the picnic. Whether you're in the park," I narrated as Bea Spells-a-Lot and Rosy Bumps 'N' Bruises were shown having a picnic, but the squirrel scared Rosy away. "Or your own garden," I narrated as Pillow Featherbed was laying on her hammock, eating her apple as it squirted out juice. "All that matters is that you are enjoying your meal outside with nature all around," I narrated, as Furry Grrs-a-Lot was shown eating an ear of corn, with a can of Dr. Cherry by her side. Leaves fell down, and an orange fell on Furry's head. "In some cases, too much nature," I narrated as the squirrel laughed and threw a deviled egg at Furry, which splattered on her.

"Of course, picnics are best enjoyed on a warm, sunny day, not a day like this one," I narrated, as the scene then transitioned to a rainy day, where Cinder Slippers knocked on the door of Jewel Sparkles' house. Jewel opened the door and saw Cinder. "Oh, Cinder!" Jewel said as she saw Cinder there. "Good morning, Jewel! Did you forget that we are going on a picnic today?" Cinder asked. "Of course not, but I assumed that the picnic was cancelled," Jewel answered. "Why?" Cinder asked. "Because of this dreadful weather," Jewel answered. "This? This is a gentle summer breeze!" Cinder said. But Cinder was obviously wrong because a tree collapsed in the strong wind and broke one of Jewel's garden gnomes. "That gnome is cheap!" Cinder said as she watched the gnome remnants fly off.

"Hold on to your hats out there, friends! 'Cause a storm is heading to Lalaloopsy Land!" Zepha Ray said over the radio. "You see?" Jewel asked as she heard the weather report. "We are not cancelling our picnic!" Cinder told Jewel. "So, don't even think about going on a picnic in this weather!" Zepha Ray said over the radio as she laughed. Cinder took Jewel's radio and threw it, and it ended up getting crushed by another falling tree. "I see that you've already packed our lunch!" Cinder said as she brought out Jewel's already packed picnic basket. "Yes, but that was before I heard the weather forecast," Jewel said. "When are you going to learn? Weather people are wrong! Let's go!" Cinder told Jewel as she left for the beach. Jewel reluctantly got her umbrella and beach towel, and headed out to the beach.

"Thank goodness we beat the crowds!" Cinder said as she arrived at the beach while it was raining. "I really don't think it's wise to be on the beach during a storm!" Jewel told Cinder, as Cinder was unfolding her beach chair. "This is not a storm! Storms have wind, and rain, and thunder! This is just a merry little breeze!" Cinder said, but she was wrong again because the thunder could be heard outside. As the wind picked up, the beach chair blew away and hit Jewel, and then the picnic basket was about to blow away. "I wish this merry little breeze would go away so I can open this umbrella!" Jewel said. "WOOOAAAHHH!!!" Jewel said out loud as she opened the umbrella and it took her off. "We don't need that thing anyway! There's no sun!" Cinder said.

Jewel then fell back to the ground with a now broken beach umbrella. "Oof! There usually isn't sun in a storm!" Jewel said as she landed back on the towel. "For the last time, there's no storm! More like a tiny fairy's breath blowing down our necks!" Cinder told Jewel. Just as Cinder said that, the thunder crashed and lightning flashed. "Oh! Did you hear that thunder?" Jewel asked. "That is my stomach growling! I'm hungry! Did you make sandwiches?" Cinder asked. "Of course I made sandwiches!" Jewel answered as she handed Cinder a sandwich. "What kind of picnic would it be without-" Jewel said, but the wind was getting stronger and blowing the sand in her sandwich, and Jewel got sand in her mouth which she spit out. "Sand in my sandwiches," Jewel said. "Stop whining!" Cinder told Jewel.

The wind got even stronger to the point sand is covering the screen. "Please pass the carrot sticks!" Cinder said. Because Jewel can't even see in this sandstorm, she got Cinder's foot by mistake. "OW! That is my foot! I said carrot sticks!" Cinder told Jewel. "How do you expect me to pass the carrot sticks when I can't even see in this wretched sandstorm?" Jewel asked, as the wind died down and Jewel and Cinder were visible again. "This is not a storm!" Cinder told Jewel, as a tree fell on the towel. "That tree almost hit us! We must go at once!" Jewel said as she saw the tree. "Why would we go? Now we have a table! Where's my pudding?" Cinder asked as she put her sandwich on the tree trunk that fell like it were a makeshift "table."

"Here! Eat!" Jewel said as she dumped all her food out the picnic basket over to Cinder, as the basket got blown away in the wind. "Don't hurry me! I am trying to enjoy my picnic!" Cinder said as a palm tree leaf caught her, while Jewel was hanging onto the leaf so she doesn't blow away. "Cinder, we need to get off the beach!" Jewel said out loud. "And give up this prime picnic spot to someone else? No way!" Cinder said, as a giant wave then ended up crashing on the beach, soaking Jewel and Cinder. After the wave crashed, Jewel got a starfish off her face, as the whale squirted water at Jewel, pushing her away. "I am not sharing my sandwiches!" Cinder said, as Scribbles Splash floated down on an umbrella to transition to the first bumper. In the first bumper, Peanut Big Top was about to eat an ear of corn, but six ants each took kernels of corn for themselves until the corn cob was all clean, and headed back to the anthill.

"Charlotte Charades and Streamers Carnivale are having a picnic along with a few uninvited guests," I narrated, as the next scene showed them having their picnic as Mr. Funny's theme from the Mr. Men Show played in the background. Charlotte gave Streamers a plate, bananas, a rabbit, broccoli, and carrots, and Charlotte ended up accidentally taking the rabbit's paw, and the rabbit took the carrots away, as Streamers giggled. Charlotte set down a wedge of watermelon for her to enjoy, but the rabbits ended up eating it before she could have a bite, as Streamers giggled at that too. Three other rabbits came and took the bananas, as Streamers kept on giggling, so Charlotte got out a lasso and tried to get the rabbits, but ended up lassoing Streamers instead. The four rabbits all took the food, so Charlotte had another idea and tied balloons to the picnic cloth, and their picnic ended up floating, and Charlotte and Streamers were able to eat their watermelon in peace from the rabbits, as Streamers kept on giggling.

"Some dolls, like Sherri Charades, prefer to picnic all by themselves. Quietly," I narrated, as Sherri Charades set up her picnic at a log, and took a drink out of her thermos. "This is the perfect place for a picnic! Mind if I join you, Sherri?" Spot Splatter Splash asked as she arrived on the scene and took a scene. Sherri signaled that she's kind of used to being alone, as a skunk passed by. "Don't worry! I brought my own food!" Spot said as she dumped out of her bag an apple, a can of Hyper Green, a chocolate bar, a banana, a sandwich from Papa's Cheeseria, and a heavily drizzled pie slice from Papa's Bakeria. "Grilled cheese sandwich? Or would you prefer this Flavor X topped pie?" Spot asked, as she showed a rainbow dripping pie slice. Sherri nodded no to either. "The rainbow pie it is!" Spot said.

"There you go!" Spot said as she gave the messy pie to Sherri, and started eating her Cheeseria sandwich. Sherri gagged a little from the sight of that pie, and threw it away, but the scent of the pie got an elk's attention. "Mmm! Mmm!" Spot said as she was eating up her sandwich. Sherri signaled the elk to shoo away, and ended up jumping in the river behind the log. "Shazam! Is that the Creamy Quiche pizza?" Spot asked, as she took that out of Sherri's basket, and Sherri popped out of the river to see what was happening. Another uninvited guest came to Sherri's picnic, and that would be Harmony B. Sharp, who was as noisy as ever while coming in with a map. "I thought I was lost! But not anymore!" Harmony said out loud, as Sherri was dreading this.

"Hiya, Harmony!" Spot said as she arrived on the picnic site. "Great to see you fellas! Mind if I join ya?" Harmony asked, as Sherri nodded yes. "Be our guest!" Spot answered. Harmony laid out her map, took a seat, and took out a bag full of celery stalks. "Would you like a stalk of my celery?" Harmony asked, as she took a big and loud bite that scared away some birds, and caused a nest with eggs to land on top of Sherri. The giant owl took the nest away. "This is the best picnic ever! Care to boogie, Sherri?" Harmony asked, as she got out the boombox, and Spot put on the Loopsy Land Dance Floor song from last season as she danced to it. Sherri nodded no to that question. "Come on, Sherri! Get up and get down!" Spot said, but Sherri still nodded no.

"Let's rock this picnic!" Harmony said out loud, as she turned up the volume to max volume and Spot and Harmony danced together. However, the music party was cut short, as a record scratch sound was heard. Turns out, the animals heard the loud music and turned off the boombox, and were very angry at Harmony for disturbing the peace. Spot and Harmony ran away screaming, and Sherri was happy she can enjoy her picnic quietly now. The squirrel was still in Sherri's picnic basket though, as she sighed. In the second bumper, Peanut got out her burger from Papa's Burgeria to go eat, but the ants arrived at the picnic again. To make sure the ants don't take her burger, Peanut lifted it up high and laughed, but the ants threw a rock at the burger, dropping it down.

"Furry Grrs-a-Lot, Scraps Stitched 'N' Sewn, and Crumbs Sugar Cookie are the winners of the Have a Picnic with Dyna Might contest. If there's one thing they can expect, it's a picnic that's out of this world," I narrated as the three winners arrived on screen. The camera then zoomed out to show them standing by a rocket ship, which Dyna Might got out of. "Hey gang! Glad you could make it!" Dyna said as she appeared. "I'm only here because I won the contest, and I never win contests! Let's eat and get this over with!" Furry said. "Oh, we're not having the picnic here, Furry! Tell them, Rosy!" Dyna said. Rosy took out her cards and read off of them. "Climb aboard, picnickers! Next stop... the moon!" Rosy read off her cards, horrified at that last line. "Picnic on the moon? I love it!" Scraps said as she hugged Crumbs and Furry, which Crumbs loved, but Furry, not so much.

Scraps, Furry, and Crumbs sat in the back of the rocket, and Rosy was scared as Dyna was about to start. "Three, two, one, blast off!" Dyna said as she pulled the lever to take the rocket to outer space. "Woo hoo!" Dyna said as the rocket was taking off. "Let's just eat our picnic now and go home," Furry said. "And miss this wonderful asteroid shower?" Crumbs asked as she saw the asteroid shower out the window, as the rocket ship dodged them. "Hang on, everyone! Coming in for a landing!" Dyna said, as Rosy covered her eyes in fear. A few asteroids hit the rocket ship as it was landing, but it didn't do too much damage to the ship, and then eventually, the rocket ship made a safe landing on the moon's surface for them to have their picnic, as the five Lalaloopsies got out in their astronaut suits.

Rosy slipped and started floating, but Crumbs helped her down by pulling her to the moon's surface. "You know, eating our picnic with these space helmets is going to be a little bit tricky, but wonderful!" Crumbs said, but Rosy was still scared. Dyna then inspected the rocket's damage. "Uh oh! Looks like we were smashed by that asteroid shower! My ship isn't going to fly again!" Dyna said, as she saw the rocket's fin about to come off. "N-not fly? How will we get back to our beloved Earth?" Rosy asked Dyna. "Don't worry, Rosy! Lalaloopsy Land Mission Control will send out a rescue team when we don't come back! Uh, won't they, Dyna?" Crumbs asked. "Uh, yes, normally, but I didn't tell anyone I was coming up here today! So many forms to fill out, you know how it is!" Dyna said, as the four Lalaloopsies circled around her in anger, but Crumbs stayed happy.

"I name this our picnic spot! Dyna said as she planted down the picnic flag. "Oh, alright! Let's get this thing over with!" Furry said as she opened up the picnic basket, and out came a floating bottle of Lemon Mist. "I'll pour the Lemon Mist!" Crumbs said as she opened up the bottle, but the soda came pouring up instead of down in the cup, and the rest of the picnic floated up as well. "Crooked cucumbers! My sandwich!" Furry said as she noticed her sandwich float up, and all the Lalaloopsies chased after the floating food, as Crumbs laughed, while the other four Lalaloopsies, not so much. As they were chasing the floating food, a UFO was floating in the sky, and the four Lalaloopsies got replaced by green aliens one by one, until soon, there were four green aliens behind her.

The four aliens scared Rosy and Rosy ran back to her Lalaloopsy friends. "Alien monsters! Totally scary!" Scraps said, as the four aliens approached the Lalaloopsies. "Oh! A picnic on the moon turns to a picnic of doom!" Rosy said as the aliens approached. "It has been wonderful knowing you!" Crumbs said. "I can't believe I left my alien monster translator in the space shuttle!" Dyna said. "Neither can I!" Furry said. The aliens spotted the floating food, and were about to put them in their picnic basket. "Oh no, you don't!" Scraps said as she opened up her picnic basket and tried to scare the aliens away with picnic masks. An orange and a green mask didn't work, and only made the aliens laugh, but a blue mask scared them away.

"Wonderful! How did you do it, Scraps?" Crumbs asked. "I had to use my scariest mask!" Scraps answered, which was revealed to be a mask of Furry sticking her tongue out, which scared Rosy as well. "Huh? Oh, very funny!" Furry said as she saw the mask. Scraps noticed the aliens dropped their keys when they ran away. "Hey! They left the keys to their spaceship! Dyna, can you drive that thing?" Scraps asked. "You bet your boots I can! Let's boogie!" Dyna answered. Just before they were about to board the UFO, Furry stopped Dyna. "Hold on! I won a picnic on the moon! And I'm gonna get a picnic on the moon!" Furry told Dyna. An alien popped out of the picnic basket. "Okay, picnic over, let's go!" Furry said, as the Lalaloopsies darted off to the UFO. In the third and final bumper, Peanut took out a slice of cherry pie from Papa's Bakeria, and held it up so the ants won't get to it, but the ants ended up dragging Peanut and her entire picnic to the anthill.

In the ending scene, Spot went back to her art studio home, as Jewel landed by her home where it was raining, as a result of earlier. "So, do enjoy a picnic when you can. It's a wonderful chance to eat a meal outside with friends," I narrated, as Harmony blasted the music out loud right near Sherri's invisible mime home. "Although, it's also important to know when the picnic is over," I narrated, as Rosy arrived back home after her picnic on the moon. The picnic basket from that picnic was brought over to Rosy's doorstep, where a green alien holding a sandwich popped out of it. "A monster with a sandwich!" Rosy said as she screamed and ran back to her home, and looked at the alien through her window, as this crazy Lalaloopsy picnic adventure ended right here.
