What does one do once they've found the perfect, succulent treat?
Glista rotated the apple that she cradled in her palm, letting the light catch every side. Clean, glistening, golden. It was a poor substitute for the true Appel of her eye, but it would have to do for now.
She could peel it, she supposed. Remove the unnecessary outer layer and admire the pale, untouched flesh underneath. Her mouth watered at the thought of caressing it with her tongue, but no. She would not sully the apple so, at least not yet.
She stepped to the kitchen counter and found a small knife. She could cut it up, reduce it to lovely symmetrical slices with her careful hand. Then, it would be hers to prepare and enjoy as she pleased. Glista hovered the knife above the apple on the marble surface, imagining how it would glide through and expose all its most intimate bits to her. It would look so delicious, so tempting.
Her stomach growled, its walls twisting around emptiness with a stab of pain. She couldn't let a knife stand between her and her love, not when she was so hungry. She had to be closer.
Her long nails pierced the skin as she lifted it to her mouth, placed it on the edge of her teeth, savored the moment before the first bite. Then, heaven on her lips. Her incisors sunk in with a beautiful crunch and sweet nectar dripped down her chin. She couldn't remember ever having an apple this magnificent in her life, one so juicy and tender, one that made her want to bite and bite and bite until not an atom was left...
Glyde scoffed from the doorway. "I don't know why you can't eat fruit normally. You always make such a mess."
Glista sighed. She would make him understand one day.
