Work Text:
Jimin's hobbies are reading books and poledancing. Two extremes on a spectrum.
A few months ago, his landlord said he's increasing the rent and Jimin decided to move away. He was already struggling with the current rent price, being a full-time student and part-time barista.
He asked his friends for help, searched on the internet day and night, and finally found a studio apartment.
But it's in another city.
He was sad to leave his current apartment. It was in a nice neighborhood and in walking distance from his poledancing studio. He had been a regular there for over a year.
But change had to come.
~
"Jimin you seriously have too many clothes. What the fuck are you gonna do with so many black pants?!" Taehyung complained while moving the boxes from the living room to Jimin's new bedroom.
Taehyung was Jimin's best friend and was helping him move. They were almost finished organizing the boxes. They would take a break and then start unpacking.
"They're all different styles though. Sometimes I want to wear skinny, sometimes flare, sometimes mom jeans" Jimin responded while preparing some sandwiches for lunch.
Taehyung huffed and moved down the last box and collapsed on the ground. There's no furniture yet.
"I'm already tired" Taehyung complained and pouted. Jimin giggled and squished his cheeks after placing a plate of food in front of him.
"Thank you for helping me Taehyungie. Have some food now" Jimin said.
~
A month after moving, Jimin decided it was time to go poledancing again. He drove down to his regular poledancing studio a few weeks ago, but the drive is too long to do every week.
He found a poledancing studio near his new apartment and the reviews were good. He decided to book a try-out lesson to see if he likes the vibe.
He wore his black booty shorts and pulled on sweatpants on top of it. He decided to wear a matching grey colored hoodie and packed his sports bag with a towel, bottle of water, and lip balm.
It was a 10 minute drive to the studio. It was Sunday, so fortunately there was free parking.
He entered the studio and could already see the poledancing room. There were a dozen people inside twisting and turning on the poles.
Jimin was excited.
"Hello, under what name did you book the lesson?" The receptionist was a handsome looking guy.
"Park Jimin. I'm here for a try-out lesson" Jimin responded.
"Oh fun! So it's your first time doing pole?" The guy asked while clicking away on his computer.
"No, I've been doing pole for a long time. But I just moved here from a different city, so I had to move studios" Jimin explained.
"Ah, welcome! I hope you enjoy our studio. The changing room is to your right and as you can see, the poledancing room is right here. This lesson will be done in about 10 minutes and then you can enter" the guy smiles at Jimin. He thanks him and heads for the changing room.
Unsurprisingly, there's many girls inside. They eye him a little bit but don't mind him too much.
Jimin takes off his shoes, pants and hoodie.
He decides to store his bag and clothes in a locker and wait outside for the lesson to start.
With his towel and water bottle in hand, he exits the changing room and roams around the studio, looking at the posters and medals hung around the walls.
Shortly after, he notices the door of the poledancing room has been opened and people are walking in and out.
He enters the room and choses a pole at the end of the room.
"Welcome everyone! My name is Jungkook, I'll be your instructor today, and Hoseok over here is my assistant".
Jimin looks up at the owner of the voice and freezes.
Jungkook, the instructor, is the hottest guy ever. He's all muscles and tattoos. His body is that of a Greek God, but his face is pretty and his smile charming. Jimin's mouth is watering.
"Is anyone here doing pole for the first time?" Jungkook asks and looks around. Jimin has a split second to decide. It's risky but he's willing to take the risk if it means Jungkook's attention will be on him.
Jimin raises his hand.
"Ah yes, one person over there. Welcome! Don't be scared, my assistant and I will be walking around to help, and don't hesitate to ask questions if you have any" Jungkook says to Jimin, and Hoseok waves at him.
Jimin nods and already feels his heart beat faster.
Dumbass. Now you have to pretend like you've never touched a pole in your life. Jimin scolds himself.
The things he does because of a hot guy...
~
"Oookay, that was the warm-up. Great job everyone. Let's get started with the fun stuff" Jungkook says.
They did a 10 minute cardio workout. It was easy enough for Jimin but he decided to fake struggle a few times because he could see Jungkook keeping an eye on him through the mirror.
Jimin drinks some water and wipes his forehead with his towel.
Jungkook stands behind the pole in the middle of the room and starts to explain the first exercise.
"Let's start with a pole sit today. You wanna make sure to really squeeze your thighs on the pole and then tilt your hip to one side. The tilt is what gives you the grip" Jungkook explains, and then swiftly moves into the pole sit to show them what it looks like.
The students nod and start trying it out themselves.
A pole sit is like drinking water for Jimin. But he can't show that he's used to this.
He jumps up and down a little bit, holds the pole in his hands, walks around it. He sees Hoseok assisting someone on the other side of the room and Jungkook is talking to a girl next to him.
Jimin decides to do the pole sit but not tilt his hip, this will result in him sliding down. He sees Jungkook start walking around again. Jimin flails his legs around and starts sliding down.
Bingo, Jungkook is walking towards him now.
"You're almost there. After jumping on the pole, you need to tilt your hip to the side to lock in" Jungkook says and motions at Jimin to try again.
Jimin jumps up, hooks his knees over each other, but lets himself slide down again. Jungkook rests one hand on his right thigh and the other one on his left hip.
"Try to tilt this hip down, it's okay to turn your whole body to the side" he explains gently.
Jimin jumps back down on the ground "Thank you, the hip part is a bit difficult. But let me try again" he says to Jungkook and turns back to the pole.
"Don't worry, I'll catch you if you fall" Jungkook says.
Jimin looks back over his shoulder to smile and Jungkook winks at him.
There's a certain tension in the air. Jimin can't tell if he's imagining it or if it's really true.
Jimin tries again and succeeds. He doesn't release his hands, even though he can. Jungkook doesn't comment on it, only claps for him and says "Good job!", then continues walking around to other students.
Jimin feels giddy being complimented.
After a few minutes, Jungkook calls for everyone's attention again.
"Let's upgrade the pole sit a little bit. What we're gonna do now, is stretch out both legs, and go into a wrist seat" Jungkook says.
He quickly climbs into the pole and lets himself sit.
"Make sure your hand is upright like this. Like a Lego doll. Since you're gonna lean on this arm a little bit, it will be bad to strain it too much. Especially with your wrist twisted. So please don't do that" Jungkook explains and shows them the correct form.
Then he out stretches his long legs. Jimin's staring at his thick thigh muscles. Jungkook positions his hand under himself and leans back. His back is strong and wide and all Jimin can see.
"This is the final position. Make sure to open your chest too" Jungkook adds, and then reverses all the steps to stand back down.
He turns towards the students and smiles. Everyone chuckles nervously.
Jimin continues pretending like he's struggling with the pole sit.
Jungkook is busy helping another student so he has to wait for his attention.
Jimin's too busy staring at Jungkook, he barely notices Hoseok, the assistant, walking nearby.
Hoseok gives him a questioning thumbs up. Jimin quickly throws one back. Luckily, Hoseok keeps walking and interacting with other students.
Jimin is hanging in the pole sit when Jungkook approaches him.
"Everything going okay?" he asks. Jimin faces him. "Mehh" he says and laughs.
He stays in the pole sit and positions his hand under his butt, but he doesn't outstretch his legs.
"Good. So now you have to open your legs wide and lean back a little bit" Jungkook instructs.
"I don't think I can do that" Jimin says and looks at Jungkook with a pout. Taehyung says his pout is irresistible and the maximum of cuteness.
He's gonna use it to his advantage.
Jungkook looks at him for a beat too long and then shakes his head.
"I think you can do it. You have a strong body... I can see that" Jungkook slowly says and trails his eyes over Jimin's torso and thighs and back to his face.
Jimin feels his face get warm. He jumps back down on the ground.
"Will you help me?" He asks Jungkook. They're standing close to each other. The eye-contact intense.
"Of course" Jungkook almost whispers, and spreads his arms, prepared.
Jimin sits back on the pole, and positions his hand under him. He slowly opens his legs. Jungkook moves to stand behind him. Then he feels two warm hands on his back, slightly pulling him backwards.
"That's it. Lean back. A little more. Chest open. Don't forget to keep breathing" Jungkook instructs him through it.
Jokes aside, Jimin thinks Jungkook is a great teacher. He's kind and patient. Gentle and supportive.
Jimin has definitely found his new regular studio.
Jimin manages to do the wrist seat but he makes sure to struggle through it and not point his toes to look like a newbie.
Jungkook gives him a high five when he's standing on the ground again.
"You're doing well for a first timer. Do you think you will come again?" Jungkook asks.
"Yes. I really like it. And you're a great teacher, so that helps" Jimin says and smiles at him. He decides to push the boundaries and even pat Jungkook's tattooed arm briefly.
Jungkook smiles back and also pats Jimin's arm.
"Looking forward to seeing you again" he says, and walks back to the front of the class. Leaving Jimin blushing and biting back his smile.
~
They did another exercise and then the hour was up.
Jungkook put on a slow song and they did a cool-down.
They finished the lesson with an applause for themselves and cleaning up the poles.
Jungkook and Hoseok were standing by the door waving everyone goodbye.
Jimin made sure to walk by as one of the last people.
"Thank you. Bye" he said while looking at Jungkook and then Hoseok.
Jungkook looked back at him and softly said bye back. Hoseok's goodbye was loud and his wave fast.
Hoseok reminds Jimin of a happy puppy.
Jimin washed up a little in the changing rooms and then put on his clothes and grabbed his bag.
He exited the changing room and saw Jungkook talking to the receptionist. He was still shirtless but now also wearing a pair of grey sweatpants hanging low on his hips.
Somehow this look made him look even hotter.
"Did you give Jimin here some advanced exercises? Beginners might've been too easy for him" The receptionist suddenly says.
Shit. Jimin forgot he had mentioned he's been doing pole for a long time to the receptionist. He didn't think about how to come clean about his lie to Jungkook yet.
"Huh? This was his first time doing pole" Jungkook says, confusion on his face.
"No, it was his first time at our studio. But he's been doing pole for a long time he said". They're both looking at him now.
Jimin panics.
"Okay, bye!" He almost shouts, and then speed walks out the door.
~
"God Tae, I'm so embarrassed! Why did I do that!?".
Jimin had called Taehyung as soon as he got in the car.
Taehyung was laughing like a maniac.
"Jimin you're seriously so funny" Taehyung managed to say between laughs. Jimin rolls his eyes.
"Tae, this is a serious matter, stop laughing at me! I really liked Jungkook's lesson. I wanna go again. But he must think I'm crazy now" Jimin complains and pouts. He regrets faking his abilities today.
"Okay, okay. It's not that bad. You can just say you haven't poledanced in a long time because of the house move and that's why you took it easy today" Taehyung suggests.
"That won't make sense. We did some really really easy stuff today. That's not something you forget when you don't dance for a month" Jimin says.
"Well, then you can just tell him the truth. Say you think he's hot as fuck and you have a praise kink so you wanted his attention" Taehyung casually says.
"No way!" Jimin exclaims.
He tells Taehyung about Jungkook being kind and supportive, and that Jimin tried flirting with him a little bit.
"It did seem like he was into it... But I don't want to jump to conclusions" Jimin ends.
"The lingering eye contact, blatantly checking you out. It totally sounds like he's into you Jiminie".
Taehyung always feeds into Jimin's delusions.
~
It's Sunday again. Jimin booked a regular lesson in Jungkook's class. He also bought a membership for this studio for a year.
He enters the building and sees the same receptionist behind the desk.
"Hi. I booked a lesson. Jimin is the name..." Jimin awkwardly tells him.
The receptionist smiles at him.
"Welcome back Jimin. I'm glad you were satisfied with last week's lesson" he says.
Jimin smiles at him, grateful that he didn't bring up last week's incident, and quickly walks to the changing rooms.
Jimin and a few other students wait by the door until the previous lesson ends and then enter the room.
Jungkook is standing in the middle of the room again, cleaning his pole.
Jimin picks the same spot he took last week.
Jungkook turns around to the group and welcomes them. Then he asks if anyone is new.
He gazes at Jimin a little bit but two girls near the door raise their hands and he averts his attention to them. He introduces himself and Hoseok and then they start the warming up.
After explaining the first exercise, Jungkook starts walking around again.
He stops by one student and then walks towards Jimin.
Jimin was doing the chopper but releases himself from the pole when he hears Jungkook approaching.
"Hello" Jimin decides to say.
"Hello. Jimin right?" Jungkook says. There's an amusing smile on his face.
"That's me... Um, about last week..." Jimin begins, but Jungkook's laugh interrupts him.
"I was surprised when Seokjin said it wasn't your first time. You're a good actor. I didn't suspect anything during the lesson" Jungkook says and crosses his arms over his chest.
Jimin's mouth opens a little at the bulge of his biceps.
"I... I don't really know how to explain myself. I raised my arm when you asked if there were any new people, because I thought you meant new people in the studio... But then I realised you meant new people to pole, so I decided to just roll with it... Sorry".
It's another lie. Jimin knew Jungkook meant new to pole. But Jimin was too embarrassed to admit the real reason to Jungkook.
"What are you apologizing for? I'm not mad or anything. Just think the situation was very funny" Jungkook says. He's still smiling at Jimin.
Jimin thinks he's lucky Jungkook is so kind.
"Oh, okay. It was still a very good lesson. I think my real level is around pre-intermediate. But I want to practise beginner some more before making the upgrade" Jimin explains.
"Good idea. You know... We can also do a private one-on-one lesson to determine your level if you want?" Jungkook suggests. Jimin feels himself turn red. Is he flirting?
"I'd like that" he breathes out and averts his eyes.
He hears Jungkook chuckle and then walk away to help other students.
The hour goes by quickly and Jimin's arms feel a bit sore.
They did many exercises today and Jungkook even gave him some more difficult variations of the exercises. He kept complimenting Jimin but also assisting him when it became too difficult.
They didn't interact too much this lesson, but Jimin saw Jungkook's gaze on him a few times.
He thought Jungkook was eyeing his ass one time but he wasn't too sure about that.
After the lesson ends, he waves goodbye to Jungkook and Hoseok again and heads for the changing room.
Only the receptionist, Seokjin, is in the hall when Jimin leaves.
"Bye. See you next week" he says to him and Seokjin bids him farewell.
Jimin steps outside, and sees Jungkook leaning on the wall to the left, smoking a cigarette.
He's wearing a thick hoodie and sweatpants, and has a bag slung over his shoulder.
"I was thinking. Maybe you can give me your number so we can arrange that private meeting?" Jungkook says, there's a twinkle in his eyes.
Jimin steps closer to him, smiling, and holds out his hand.
Jungkook passes him the cigarette.
Jimin doesn't break the eye-contact when he takes a drag and slowly exhales the smoke into the sky.
Jungkook's eyes are fixed on his lips.
"I think that's a great idea", Jimin grins.
Jungkook grins back at him.
