Losing all hope now, Joker just decides to waste away in Arkham; staying quiet and out of trouble, because why do anything when there's no point?
Bruce gets paranoid about Joker's unusual behaviour; and in his attempt to figure out what's going on by monitoring Joker's every move, his obsession with the clown only grows bigger and bigger.

Drool dripped down his chin, mixing with the blood already stainining his porcelain face. And then from the corner of his eyes; as he heaved for air, tears slid down his cheeks, surely adding a salty taste to a mixture that would taste mostly like copper, acidic sourness and of sugar; it must. Bruce knew Joker had 32 sweet teeth. Or perhaps 31 now, considering the fact that one was in the cave.
That has to be what it tastes like. What He tastes like. Bruce had spent a lot of time thinking about it to arrive at this conclusion. He needed to know everything he possibly could about his Joker.
