Every line you write has a kind of glow like there’s more to discover behind it.

Your reply made me so happy that I want to share something really lovely with you related to it, are you on any other social media where I can follow you and maybe have a little chat about this? Your words are written with such gentleness that they bring peace to the heart.

Mate, my TikTok isn’t working properly at the moment, so I’ll give you my email instead. Please message me there and I’ll explain everything clearly to you.

AI image generators are a known phishing and art commission scam targeting fanfiction authors. As of early 2026, scammers increasingly use AI to scan stories and leave tailored, convincing comments designed to lure writers into paid "collaborations".

      🄷🄾🅆 🅃🄷🄴 🅂🄲🄰🄼 🅆🄾🅁🄺🅂

The Approach: A bot or scammer leaves a comment (often as a guest or a newly created account) praising your work and offering to create "fan art," "cover art," or "comics" based on your story.

The Hook: They often provide AI-generated praise that feels specific to your fic's tags or title to seem legitimate. It's as simple as asking Grok (ChatGTP, Gemini or anyone else) to do a short praise.

The Move Off-Platform: They insist on moving the conversation to Discord, Twitter (although it has already changed its name to X), Instagram, Telegram, Tumblr, Facebook or even email, claiming they want to share their "portfolio", show "an art idea about the fic" or "discuss details". DON'T SHARE YOUR SOCIALS LIGHTLY, you'll likely fall prey to other scams later.

The Ask: Once off-site, they eventually demand payment for the art. Victims who pay typically receive low-quality AI-generated images or nothing at all.

Solicitation: Real fandom artists rarely solicit commissions by commenting directly on works; they typically advertise on their own social media.

Commercial Activity: AO3 STRICTLY PROHIBITS COMMERCIAL ACTIVITY. Anyone (bot or human) suggesting a paid transaction in the comments is likely a scammer, and violates AO3's terms (see link below) by giving specific instructions on how to access it.

Vague Compliments: The comments often use generic praise like "make the story come alive", "unique style" or "deep emotions" without citing specific plot points.

Urgency: Scammers may pressure you to reply quickly or move to another app immediately.

New Accounts: Many scam comments come from recently created accounts with no work or kudos history.

      DON'T PAY!!!

If you see suspicious activity of this kind (either on your own fanfics or even on other users'), copy the comment with the links and add a similar warning about this criminal activity. These scammers OFTEN DELETE COMMENTS if the target doesn't take the bait.

FREEZING posts from suspected scammers WON'T PREVENT them from deleting them, and once they're deleted, you might not remember the details.
