    Hadn't seen the second chapter when I wrote, weird.

    My problem is more along the lines of "Hey, those two have a really good friendship and interesting dynamic... aaaand it's a romance."
    For some pairs of characters there's almost literally no fic that has them bond without it devolving into shipping.
    Like, building an odd friendship between someone who would be ostracized for following his morals and someone who doesn't seem to have morals at some point? Interesting. The same two people being shipped because it would be 'hot' or 'cute'? Literally done hundreds of times already.
    But maybe it's just me being aro and just not getting why this is supposed to be appealing.

      Oh, I haven't posted it yet when you commented and when I meant SakuOro, not really the shipping but their friendship (that's why I didn't post a tag of slash for the both of them). I'm not really a fan of their shipping (it weirded me out when I read a fic slash of them) because it's like shipping All Might and Endeavour which was a no-no! And I really wanted them to be friends because I have this fanon in my mind where Jiraiya and Sakumo were friends at some point because they both have morals that matched with each other and Sakumo were often compared with the power of the Sannib and some said that he surpasses them. I wanted Orochimaru, at some point, to bond with Sakumo and see how that turns out. Because like what you said, they're polar opposites, that'll be interesting I guess.
