I haven't read anything bad you've written yet, so that helps. :p
Besides, I multiship with Nat, so it makes it easier. And unlike some people I wasn't offended by how Joss put Nat & Bruce together in AoU. Could it have been done a little better? Yeah, probably. I just think a bunch of ppl missed the point of them being together, besides I wouldn't be surprised if by the end of Cap 3 Nat and James/Bucky were together and we'd be in comic canon again, but I digress...
I'm definitely an unoffended multishipper, but like alphaflyer, I felt they really did lay the groundwork for Natasha/Clint and then handled upending that poorly. But apparently, it was Joss who nixed what was already well-planned and half-implemented, so yeah, fine. I like Laura and want all the fic, Bruce/Nat has always been a pairing I just can't get into so don't, but I've got plenty of commentary on my views on how they were handled: I think they were role-playing it a bit, her more than him, and seeing if it would take, thus the heavy-handedness.
So in short, I can handle the pairings because I was never over-optimistic about Natasha/Clint becoming canon, and I really, really want Laura/Clint, though I'll still always prefer Bobbi/Clint for MCU and will multiship him away with a ton of ladies, but I still think MCU handled it badly without being ticked off about it. (Life's too short. I survived X3, post-Viva Los Vegas Roswell, and post Valle Soleada; this is nothing.)
I was just overly excited they didn't kill Laura and the kids off like they did in the comic. (Nick Fury's ex-wife did it of all the ppl, geez) Also, I saw in an interview where ScarJo was the one who decided on the arrow necklace and it went from there. Jeremy Renner's was supposed to be in Cap 2 but his schedule wouldn't work out with something else he was filming at the time. There was supposed to be a fight in the woods after the middle hit Fort Meade and Cap and Nat were running from STRIKE team. Hawkeye was supposed to be with them and he was going to tell Cap about the tracker they had on him. As for the necklace I can explain that with a throwaway line from Laura, "It's so you always know where home is." Or something that's like that but better written. Anyway, yeah, I see where all there Clintasha fans were peeved. I see where the Romanogers fans were pissed too even tho it kinda sounded like Cap threw a line in there about having seen Natasha first hand flirt to Bruce just to make him jealous. So, I guess we'll see when Civil War comes around.
I, however, am a ginger, so it annoys me when they cast a nonginger in the roll of a ginger. Just look at Kirsten Dunst, OMG why didn't she wear a wig earlier? I can forgive ScarJo, she plays Black Widow too well and she's mega hot, so it works. But the X-Men movies... Look, I love Famke Jenson as an actress, do not love her as Jean Grey. I'm sorry she's just too old for the part when they started the movies out. James Marsden was too young to be Cyclops if she was Jean. Then it just grew into a complete kerfuffle from there. I love the character of Jean. She's my fav, but WTF did they do? You should hear my daughter talk about Kitty Pryde, and the changes, it's gobsmacking.
I want Laura to live and flourish and be significant now that she's there.
I wasn't actually peeved at what Marvel did, though I'm a Clint/Natasha fan, but I think it was handled badly. And yeah, all that behind the scenes stuff exists, but it actually was planned in production for them to be a couple and Joss wanted to show that just because a man/woman are close friends, it doesn't have to be romantic. Which well, yeah, I agree and get peeved when that fact isn't acknowledged, but I still think it was handled badly from a pretty objective viewpoint.
As far as Romanogers, it was never coded a romantic relationship, was always strongly coded friendship, and her matchmaking was a pretty blatant implication Natasha didn't want romance with him. And covered Joss's whole non-romantic thing. Seriously. Plus NOTP for me. I can't see them working as they are. I can threesome them away with all sorts of different thirds, but they need someone to smooth out and balance their extreme differences for me to believe it. At all. :shudders: I actually get squicked by fic of just the two.
Kirsten Dunst? Which role?
Well, granted the age thing wasn't great, but I actually adored X1 and liked Jean in the role and Scott in his, though the combo didn't quite work. I handwave it.
Kitty. I have a lot of thoughts and feelings on Kitty, but like the differences between MCU and 616 Clint, I can handle the differences between movie and 616 Kitty. I just throw out most of X3, so keep that in mind.
Ah. I had no interest in non-X comics before MCU, so started there and adore the very long, mostly platonic Clint/Natasha in the comics and ship her with Bucky in 616 and him with Kate or Bobbi, depending on how canon-compliant I go. (The more, the more Kate.)
Never watched or will watch Buffy. Falls in my DNW. Never watched Spiderman. Falls in my just not interested.
I do love the whole Clint/Laura + Natasha dynamic, so I suspect I'll be good.
Oddly, even X-comics for me followed TV as a kid, then Evolution, then movies, so I never have a problem. But I have a ton of issues with every Marvel canon and either fic through or around or ignoring, so all good.
So i can show my age... See way back in the 90s when I was a kid, I watched XMen and the Spiderman cartoon after school or on Saturday, however it aired. There wasn't a lot of choices growing up and since I was a nerdy kid anyway... I also found out a lot of my comic knowledge thru friends and their comics.
Back when I was in high school, Buffy aired one night, we thought (now hubby and I, we were dating at the time) it was the Buffy movie but found out it was the TV show. We were pleasantly surprised.
Then hubby turned out to be a huge Spidey fan. And I'm a GI J.O.E. fan and Marvel and Batverse fan in general.
I don't know how much age you're showing. That's the TV I was talking about:X-Men where I adored Wolverine and Rogue the best. The next forays were Evolution and the movie, X1. Then I started ficcing, started researching, and I've read random scans and a ton of summaries.
My daughter started on Evolution. That's where her love of Kitty Pryde originated. The comics came later. Granted she's not a normal kid. By the time she was 2 she could tell u how to kill a zombie, but hey...
