This fic is so interesting! I read the premise and hit the link so fast. Wormmon is so,,, golly gosh you wanna wrap him in a blanket. And also flick his forehead when he gets self-demeaning. : / I want to have words with whoever stole pretty much all his happy memories, if it was a person's fault.
"Never, in his whole life, had anyone told him they loved him." <---Ahhhhh.
I also want to laugh at the irony of him thinking he's 'small and weak'.
The characterisations for everyone feel really on point and so charming! Davis, Veemon and Wormmon's sleepover and card game was really cute, and the dialogue was fun to read. And my memory of the show is dated, but I feel Davis has that right balance of ... a wee bit full of himself, sometimes overreacting, and casually kind.
I like how in the midst of the sleepover, Wormmon still finds something missing. "He didn't want to say anything, but as he'd been watching the two of them, he'd started to feel the traces of some unhappy emotion stirring up inside of him." "Like, we're too loud for you. You like the quiet, don't you?" Like ahh, you can feel Ken's absence. Then Wormmon's jealousy of the Davis and Veemon just fit right to end the night, poor guy.
