Comment on once upon a time, a boy is woken/by sunlight.

  1. Thank you for reading- I aim to make Gwaine really grounded and have an almost...canon quality to him if that makes sense. I can't wait to explore what happened to Gwaine previously...and where he's been disappearing to. I wanted a character that has struggles outside of the whole plot- while it's always fun to see a self-insert do their take on the first year and so forth, I thought it would be fun to give him trauma in a completely new dimension while also exploring some really interesting family dynamics. I could give whole speeches on the implications of Dumbledore's hiring policy.

Um. Well, do not take my word for it, because I cannot do math, but basically here's my reasoning:

H1 (1991-1992) = Harry's first year. Ron's the same year as Harry, and Percy is in fifth year. He's Prefect. Gwaine is born in the year after, almost nine months after (I believe the term is Irish twins, but I think I'm misinterpreting that since that's two non-twin siblings born in the same year?)

But anyway, Percy and Gwaine are born less than twelve months apart, but Percy was born August 22, 1976 and Gwaine is born May 22, 1977. This puts him a year above the twins, so he's sandwiched between Percy and Fred/George. So he's currently in his fourth year.

I initially wanted him to be twins with Percy, and have that comparison between two sets of twins? But it suited the story better to have him be younger than Percy, so while I was initially running with the idea that he, um, offed someone before Harry entered hogwarts, at 14, in his fourth year, I realized that he'd have to be in third year for it all to make sense. So if Percy’s in fifth year, and Ron in first, and the twins in third, Gwaine is in fourth now. I edited the tags, I might have to edit a few other notes.
