I'm not saying I don't like the bickering, it's just that Sirin's fate is sealed, it doesn't matter what happens to her now, even if in chapter 1, Kiana left her to die in their mind or after chapter 1 simply ignored her for the rest of her life.
If not for Kevin making Sirin a permament slave there wouldn't be a problem.
I don't know
If Kevin didn't bound/enslaved her but she simply lacks the energy because of her wastefull use of what she gathered throught days/months/year, then it would have been okay, similiar but much better in short and long term
She’s stuck in the Kaslana box as long as Kiana unconsciously wants her to be
The terms of imprisonment Kevin imposed was “effectively neutered as long as the girl continued to push her down”
The implication being if she genuinely wishes for it with all her heart, Kiana can release her. It’s just that at the moment, she still sees Sirin as someone that ultimately cannot be left to her own devices, both consciously and unconsciously(and for obvious justified reasons. They met after she attempted to murder her father and then her).
There’s also the implication is that driving her to despair would also work, it just kinda doesn’t at the moment and potentially never considering that first impression along with a bunch of reveals happening too soon and Kiana being too young or determined for her tuna apotheosis to let it affect her.
But the prison’s fallibility is referenced again immediately after
“In no uncertain terms, it hadn't been worth it. The vengeful Herrscher's continued existence was still a risk. If the girl whose body served as the Herrscher's prison ever faltered or gave up entirely, the consequences would be catastrophic.”
This fact is part of why Kevin is still decently concerned with how Kiana might turn out, but it also reinforces the idea that Sirin can freed from it
Though I do agree with you on that this point didn’t exactly need to be so restrictive to achieve a similar state of affairs between the characters.
Yeah, for me It removes the weight, meaning behind Sirin's actions and choosing to do it herself.
Because in this scenario Sirin is not a threat anymore.
But if per say, Kevin never done anything, not even watched them from Sea of Quanta. Like he never existed.
And Kiana would give Sirin just enough energy to heal herself.
Then Sirin is just depleted of energy and needs weeks, months, etc to recover to do anything at all, just like she had to prepare herself for her first try in chapter 1.
It would create a ticking time bomb.
AND if she chooses not to do harm to Kiana, go agaisnt her, even if she could try again by recovering energy or even waiting longer for more energy.
Her actions would mean so much more, beceause nothing is stopping her
