Shingi, laughing because the irony of someone who *also* specifically made life hell for people in the court and other concubines is being thanked by a scribe.
Kon probably complains to Shingi later and shakes the sword. Talks about how Ri doesn’t eat enough (but Ri very much eats Kon’s cooking; he just eats like a bird). Married old couple…
Maybe the transformation pops mid-way through a Mononoke encounter at the Ōoku, and Asa realizes that no, Kon was not joking.
She’s still not sure if she ate human or boar ngl.
I love the way you write everyone so much; the medicine sellers and sword spirits are delightfully fucked up in your work and I'm always happy to see them.
She’ll find out when she goes to Japanese Hell for judging. 😉
Thank you! I get they’re not canon, but I like them being fucked up but still “compassionate” in a sense. I think Daji!Kon feels deeply for people, but that doesn’t mean he’s a good person, nevertheless; if anything, everyone would be better off if he felt less for people/“understood” them less. But I’m also into exploring the contradictory nature of people so…the concept of the “two faces” and contradiction that meld together to form a whole.
