Summary
Starting over was always hard, especially when you were given no choice but to do so. Everyone on Earth who knew her, outside the SGC, thought she was dead and the IOA and General Landry decreed her only options going forward were working (and living) at the SGC, Area 51 or in Atlantis. Since being on Earth meant she’d have to interact with SG-1, she took door number three and was now sitting on the Daedalus flying through hyperspace to another galaxy. The expedition needed a linguist and she had learned from the best, after all.

Summary
Considering everything that had happened over the last few weeks, she was happy to see him in such a good mood, but he wasn’t acting very discrete. Ever since his declaration, he had become a tad clingy as well as overprotective. But considering the back to back debacles the expedition had endured, she didn’t mind that much right now, beyond the public displays of affection....
So this is story three in my Hero series. Dr. Mariah Gray continues to learn about her powers and explores her relationships, both romantic and platonic. Takes place during Stargate Atlantis Season 3. The title comes from Heroes by David Bowie.

Summary
Jack was having an excellent day thus far. He woke up to the sun shining into his quarters and a gentle sea breeze wafting in through his balcony doors. He got up at a leisurely pace and ambled down to the Mess Hall, where expedition members stopped and chatted with him as if they hadn’t a care in the world (he really wished he could remember more of their names). Once he got to his office, he had a few matters to address, plus putting out a fire Dr. McKay stoked by berating one of his staff to the point of a mental breakdown. Then he got to meet with Dr. Gray. He was enjoying their get-togethers immensely and wasn’t disappointed. They reviewed the translation she had done that led the expedition to one of three Ancient shipyards in Pegasus. It was quite the find.
This is story four in my Hero series. Dr. Mariah Gray continues to learn about her powers and explores her relationships, both romantic and platonic. Takes place during Stargate Atlantis Season 4, sort of. I’ve started to make some major changes to the series and you’ll have to see which episodes I decided to keep. The title comes from Hero by Chad Kroeger.

Summary
They hurried out of the bedroom and into the corridor outside their apartment. They ran down the hall and reached the transporter just as she was getting in. They still received no acknowledgement. She hit the map and once they reached their destination, she slid out the doors. They were in the hallway of the science section. She walked down the hall, her gait different than normal, more purposeful and commanding.
So this is story five in my Hero series. Dr. Mariah Gray continues to learn about her powers and explores her relationships, both romantic and platonic. Takes place during Stargate Atlantis Season 5, sort of. The major changes from canon continue in this story, even more so then in They Say a Hero Can Save Us. Currently, I’m mulling over using four, maybe five, of the episodes in one way or another. We’ll see how it goes… The title comes from Hero by Mariah Carey (bet you were wondering when I was going to use this song).

Summary
AR-1 and 3, plus Drs. Zelenka and Gray had left Atlantis right on time for their mission to M3L-973, under the watchful eyes of General O’Neill and Major Lorne. Sheppard had opted to get the minor issue of surveying the damage caused by Mariah’s powers out of the way first. It was an impressive sight. Her telekinetic abilities had almost tripled the size of the clearing, the debris sliding in between the rocks and trees that were still in place. Rodney found a way to take aerial photos of the damage through the Jumper. John really hoped the expedition leader had no plans to share them with the IOA. They would probably attempt to stick their noses in Mariah’s business again if they saw what she could do.
This is story six in my Hero series. Dr. Mariah Gray continues to learn about her powers and explores her relationships, both romantic and platonic. All original at this point. I had some loose ends I wanted to tie up, so let’s see what happens. The title comes from Hero by Enrique Iglesias.

Summary
The Hero Series has its first official one-shot… WOOHOO!!!! My beta for this series really wanted to see the scene where Jack discusses using Mariah as bait with John and Evan. The beginning of that scene was in my head from the moment I mentioned it in the story, so this wasn’t too hard to write. Takes place during Kiss Away the Pain, between scene one and two of chapter nine.

Summary
Since the Athosian left, she had been working for about thirty minutes and for that entire time, the two cats had been pestering her. They either wanted in the baby sling or they wanted to play with Torren. Neither thing was going to happen and they weren’t getting the message.
In theory, this is the seventh and final story in my Hero series (BIG FAT LIE; the characters wouldn’t leave me alone). I have some more loose ends I wanted to sort out and wanted to show Mariah Gray come into her own both as an independent woman and the force the Others predicted she would become. The title comes from Hero by Cash Cash featuring Christina Perri.

Summary
Guess what? I’m writing another story in my Hero series. Some ideas for a couple chapters popped into my head and I wanted to share them with all of you. Also, we haven’t seen or heard from the Genii in a while, so I’ll probably throw them into the mix a few times. The title comes from Hero by Sevendust (yes, I like heavy metal).
The waterhole, surrounded by trees, had come into view after about 15 minutes and as soon as they arrived, Mariah got to work while the marines formed a perimeter and Petrov stayed with her. After carefully reviewing all the text she could find, things clicked into place and she was able to start translating. Then a shot rang out and Dimitri fell, a bloody wound in his leg. In response, SSgt. Stackhouse started barking orders and she had been whisked away by Corporal Yeager. Since the shots were coming from the direction of the Stargate, they had headed the other way, but she didn’t want to leave her friends, not when one of them was hurt.

My beta for this series is a diehard Ronon fan and loves the relationship between Mariah and the former Runner. Thus, he requested an expansion of a scene mentioned in story eight, where the pair goes to Sateda. Takes place during Make the Day Stop Moving, while the rest of AR-1 and AR-3 are visiting the market in scene one of chapter eleven.
Title is from Juke Box Hero by Foreigner.

Summary
This wasn’t supposed to happen. But Jack started yelling at me, then a scene with Mariah coming into her own popped into my head, so… I’m writing another story in my Hero series. I think this story will finally tie up the last of the loose ends, including a very large one that has been woven throughout the series. The title comes from Hero by Skillet.
I really hope this is the last story in the series, but knowing the characters, they won’t leave me alone. Thank you for making it this far and continuing the story of Dr. Mariah Gray, as she lives her life and embraces her gifts. I appreciate all my loyal readers.

Mariah moved her shoulders and upper body like she was trying to shake something off. “All the new faces make me uncomfortable and some of them have been giving me funny looks.”
“Don’t you think it’s likely they heard about your weird three-person relationship? It may be old news to most of us, but with new people around, the gossips are sure to mention it.”
“I guess.”
“Do you think it’s something else?”
“I’m not sure. I keep feeling like someone’s watching me all the time. I’ve been sticking close to the apartment the last week or so, because of it.”

I really didn’t think this would be a one-shot I would write, but my beta for this series asked if I could and who am I to turn down a challenge. He was intrigued by the interaction between Michael and Halling when Halling came to find Mariah. So, here we are. Takes place during Fight For What’s Right, chapter six, following scene two.
The title comes, originally, from a movie called Freaks (1932), but has been used in numerous movies, TV shows, etc. since then.

All right, another couple scenes popped into my head for the Hero Series. Carson wanted to yell at Mariah and John felt the need to be silly (the same way he did in my other series during Stalwart and Strong). It takes place during Fight For What’s Right, between chapter twelve and the epilogue, but before Don’t Need the Glory, which will be posted next week.
The title comes from Superheroes by The Script.
Enjoy!!

I’d been thinking about these two scenes for a while, but it never worked into the story. So, I’m doing it as a one-shot. Hopefully you enjoy it. Takes place during Fight For What’s Right, between chapter twelve and the epilogue.
