Summary
That was his friend, their King, resting his head in the lap of the man destined to kill him. That was his friend, sighing deeply and leaning his weight more fully against Ardyn’s legs as though it were the backseat of his beloved Regalia.
He marveled at how lightly those hands touched Noctis now, gentle in a way he didn’t know the man was capable of.

Summary
Ignis had never found much use for such things as watches.
They were inaccurate things, skipping from one hour to another based on sunlight and temperature, the passage of seasons. 1800 hours in the blinding heat of summer was not 1800 hours wrapped in blustering snow and the moon’s cool disregard. In the city of Insomnia, the sleepless metropolis lit up at all hours of the night. As if a little less sunlight meant anything.
Ignis preferred consistency.

Summary
Noctis wasn't a fool; he knew Prompto had a habit of
lyingmisdirection. Like they always had, the two danced around one another: Noctis lacked the words to articulate his concern, fumbling awkwardly as he tried to understand; Prompto would simply offer a sanguine grin as he skipped out of reach. He caught Noctis looking at him intensely at times, not staring but rather searching, as though he were a puzzle he couldn't figure out. Prompto's answer was a toothy grin and chipper wave, as if he didn't know precisely the question dancing on the tip of his friend's tongue.Day #3 for XVTober 2024: "Strong Enemies". Mind the tags.

Summary
In hindsight, Ardyn mused, guilt was a taste one acquired with enough patience... and he had enough patience to last him another eternity.
As he watched Noctis wave off his retinue and wander to the gas station a few meters away, Arydn couldn't help but sigh with delight. The guilt of the naïve was an exceptionally rare treat, a fine wine best enjoyed when given time to develop its complex flavors.
Oh, yes. The king's guilt would be sublime.

Summary
He kept to the shadows as he crept from his room and down the hall, following the music that, he was coming to realize, was actually a voice. It was a man's voice, rich and carrying the melody as though it were an instrument all its own. Noctis had a hard time discerning the words that the man sang, or if it was even comprised of legitimate words at all. Though the tune sounded jaunty, it carried a bitter aftertaste that made Noctis, inexplicably, want to cry.
Come to me, it seemed to say. A soft whisper, rather than a demand. A wavering voice, a hand outstretched in invitation. Noctis longed to reach out and touch it, the unspoken Something promised by the man who wove his voice in the winds.

Summary
Noctis missed the bashful creature that had taken him stargazing when they were small boys, or blushed when Noctis held his hand, oblivious in his innocence, and told him how beautiful his music was.
Hearing the music made him feel as though he could feel the velvet of the piano bench, the weight of Ignis's body pressed against him as he swayed in time to the music. He was a prince, and betrothed at that; that was all that he would ever have of Ignis, no matter how much more his traitorous heart wanted.
These were pleasant reminders... good memories.
