The first thing that Etho noticed was the silence.
Each step of his boots crunched sharply against the thin layer of snow, echoing like a metronome through the dead forest. Somewhere above, the distant caw of a crow tore through the stillness, answered by the hollow cries of turkey vultures circling silently. His stomach sank. He heard his heart trying to prepare his body by pumping blood faster and faster through his veins. The pop of a lava pool in the vicinity.
He heard silence.
He was alive, but the forest was dead.

“Cool…” Mumbo wasn’t sure how to respond to that. Grian did a 180 in a matter of second, seemingly for no reason at all. But, as Scar said before, Grian was a watcher. Creatures that didn’t really know how to feel emotions.
Maybe Mumbo could help Grian figure out how to express himself in a less… chaotic way.

(Recently rewritten (again...), I recommend rereading from the beginning to spot all changes)
Twelve Robloxians awaken to find themselves in...Minecraftia, of all places!? But if you thought waking up in a whole other dimension that works on completely different logic is bad, soon enough they’re told they’re here to play in a new game - a death game.
The rules are simple. You have three lives. Drop down to one, and you can start killing others. Last man standing wins. (With a few other caveats, of course.) You know the deal, we’ve seen this story before.
But Robloxians are a lot more competitive than your average Minecraftian.
This is about to get messy.

Summary
The woods fell still.
The night swallowed the echo of Ren’s fall, leaving Scott alone among torn earth and broken trees. Victory didn’t wash over him. Only the hollow, sinking weight of what survival had cost.
He walked forward on unsteady legs and knelt beside Ren’s body. Ren’s sword lay nearby, faintly glowing with an enchantment.
Scott’s chest tightened. “Sorry,” he whispered.
No answer.
He stayed there a long moment as the enormity of the win pressed into him. It didn’t feel right. Not when so much of it had been luck. Randomness. Violence he never wanted.
Scott manages to win Last Life, winning through reluctant violence rather than triumph. After his meeting with the Watchers, he is forced to carry the memories of the games while also dealing with his own problems on Empires. He reunites with Grian, and they both realise the games aren't over yet.
