“ Erwin looked at Levi seriously, big eyebrows furrowed. “Can I trust you?” He asked. Despite his firm expression, his heart pounded. He had never shown this book to anyone since the death of his father. The information therein had gotten his father killed, Erwin had gotten his father killed, and no one had ever looked at it since.
“Of course you can trust me.” The captain affirmed. Erwin did not lose that intense look on his face, but he did break eye contact.
“Lock the door.” He instructed, and Levi complied.
“So what is it?” Asked Levi, coming round Erwin’s desk to look over his shoulder.
“You can never tell a soul, Levi.”
“I promise.”
Erwin took one more steadying breath. No going back now. He spread the book open to the first page.
“The outside world.”
