Vi scrambled toward an old, dented suit of training armor that had been gathering dust in the corner. In a blind, agonizing rush of instinct, Vi slapped her own left arm down into the fading transmutation circle, calling out the binding sequence from memory.
"GIVE HER BACK! SHE’S MY LITTLE SISTER SHE’S ALL I HAVE LEFT"
The blue spark zipped from the floor and slammed into the hollow metal shell. At the same moment, the price was collected: Vi's right arm was gone, ripped from her shoulder, leaving her shattered and bleeding beside a small, heavy suit of armor.
