Summary
New York is a big city with millions of people in it. This fact is unlikely to protect you from running into the on-again-off-again ex girlfriend you awkwardly and abruptly proposed marriage to and then haven't seen for two years, however. Getting coffee with a friend, Rico runs into Val, to both of their dismay, and he finds that in order to repair any semblance of friendship they might have ever had, he's probably going to have to tell her about the whole "caught feelings for my best male friend and we live together as lovers now" *thing.*

Summary
Sonny knows he's never going to win father of the year, but he's always figured, at the very least, that not too much of him actually rubbed off on Billy. That he managed not to screw the kid up too badly, despite everything. So when Billy comes to stay with him and Rico in New York for part of summer break, he's more than a little bit apprehensive, and is suddenly forced to confront his whole concept of fatherhood, of manhood, and everything that happened back in the summer of '86.
Because after all, what twelve year is going to react well to figuring out his dad is queer?

Tubbs and Crockett buy tickets to a shady auction, and Crockett seems like he's having fun for the first time since he lost himself to Burnett. Tubbs worries that maybe this fun is coming from somewhere self-destructive, and wonders just how badly the boundaries of their friendship have been frayed by the events of the last year and a half.
A continuation of prior Vice fics, but works fine as a standalone so long as you're on board with the idea of Sonny and Rico being on-again-off-again throughout the course of the show.
