“You know that song, that’s like ‘you’ve got a fast car, I want a ticket to anywhere, maybe we can make a deal?” Jackie says quietly when Nat returns to the porch.
“You mean the song called: Fast Car?” Nat follows her gaze to the truck. The last piece of her old man, and the only one really worth keeping.
She returns to look at Jackie, noticing the gym bag stuffed with clothes and cash.
“You’re not serious,” Nat scoffs with a laugh.
“Look, I don’t know about you, but I’m not ready to throw in the towel and die in fucking Wiskayok, New Jersey.”--
Follows roughly 10 years of one Natalie Scatorccio and one Jacqueline Taylor cohabitating in a Chelsea apartment while they learn how to be adults.

because the author believes that we were robbed of more flashback scenes so expect a lot of teen emotions and feelings and confusion around being queer, being in high school, general girlhood/adolescence... basically me trying to write my own pre-crash fic where nat, jackie and lottie are all sad and lonely queer teenagers and none of them know how to deal with it
