Summary
Success isn’t really as instantaneous as Skylar Laine thought it would be after Idol. It’s been a year or two and nothing, not even a cursory offer from a small record company. But is she going to sit around and mope? Not a chance. Skylar teams up with an equally success-deprived Colton Dixon and drags him to Nashville from Murfreesboro, leaving her family and college-swamped boyfriend behind, to make her own success and to encourage Colton do to the same. They’re friends, teammates, neighbors…but there’s no telling if that’s how they’ll stay.

Summary
Two years after American Idol Season 11, Colton's sister has been diagnosed with breast cancer, and he begins a painful struggle with his faith in God. Elise is working as a bartender and quietly trying to forget a one-night-stand with Phil, even in the midst of a whirlwind of social backlash regarding her active sexuality in her small town. Phil is pressured by his manager to release a second album immediately, regardless of how ready it is, and facing a massive strain on his relationship with Hannah. As all three of them begin to fall apart, a week-long beach house reunion with other Season 11 contestants brings them all together, and it's only inevitable that these three instead collapse into each other.

Maybe that meant he could afford more than ramen. But that didn't mean his tastes had changed. If he couldn't have Dad's ribs and Mom's baked beans, then he'd settle for his own ramen. Part of my "One Simple Change" series, where each story was written week-to-week as the S11 episodes premiered. AU in that Hannah and Phil broke up. Most likely will not be continued.
