In East Asian folklore there is something called the Red Thread of Fate, or more colloquially known as “invisible red string theory”. It suggests that two people can be destined to meet and be together usually romantically through an invisible red string that connects them.
And that string very much exists connecting Patrick Jane and Teresa Lisbon.

It is going to take some convincing for him to accept help which not only takes its toll on him but her also. Helping him may be one of the biggest challenges she ever has to face.

“Jane and Wainwright are missing,” she says, for what is probably the eight-hundredth time that day. “And, fine, Wainwright might have just run away for all we know, but Jane was with Red freaking John and now he’s gone. Which means his plan went to hell and he’s been kidnapped, like always.”
