Link does not want to be right. He does not want the Veteran to be missing, and he doesn't want to know with every step he takes, they're in his own past, among people he was recently at war with, decades before his world dissolved into violence (since he earned his platemail from the crown.)
But if he's right, if Legend was taken captive, he's the only one who can get him out without causing more problems than he solves.
