Summary
It’s 2023, and Andrew Wilder isn’t expecting much when his sister drags him to a concert. But the band on stage—Velvet Sentry—is familiar in more ways than one. Once a scrappy, chaotic group of friends from music festivals and basement practices, they were almost global sensations, electric, and utterly unforgettable.
Among them is Richard “Avery” Lotfi-Stevens, Andrew’s complicated past and impossible pull—tall, fluid, charismatic, and always just out of reach. There’s Berkeley “Kelly” Fielding, the short, fiery, punk drummer surviving on booze and grit; Forrest “Fozzie” Prescott, the quiet, steadfast bassist who built his life from scratch; and a network of intertwined musicians whose lives have been messy, beautiful, and sometimes devastating.
