In compiling this atlas, I, Dr. Konrad Patroclus, once constrained by family expectations, and now a proud father to a small orphan dragon of my own, found myself caught between two worlds. On one side, the rigor of scholarship, precise descriptions, careful classifications, and disciplined study. On the other a world of magic, wonder, and the tender responsibilities of caretaking, where every story I encountered seemed to come alive, and every creature taught me lessons of empathy, patience, and renewal.
My dear friends Hana, Wren, Fenkel, et. al., gifted their voices to these pages, and shared insight, laughter, and guidance, I am indebted to. I could not neglect the way they helped me see lives for more than abstract “utilities”. This commentary brings my atlas to life in ways mere scholarship never could.
So, dear reader, you will encounter both worlds here! The measured and the magical, the cerebral and the charmingly heartful, the disciplined, and nurturing. I hope you enjoy these collected stories as dearly as I have, and perhaps, like me, find saving grace in what it means to care, to protect, and to grow.
