This is set as if the Pevensies didn't go back to england? sort of. just imagine that Peter has been living in a seperate area of Narnia and that's why he and Caspian haven't met yet. I'm still working out the plotholes currently so just let me take some creative liberties okayyyyy.

Lucy hardly knows Rabadash, yes, but she knows that any man, any woman, any being who puts such a look on her sister’s face will be gaining a close personal relationship with the well-honed edge of her blade. It was that look, that distress, that had her donning her mail, mounting up beside Edmund and riding to Anvard with him. As all Narnia knows, there is very little Lucy the Valiant would not do for her family, and the Lion help anyone who has caused her sister distress.
In the end, it’s probably for the best that Edmund was the one to meet Rabadash head-on in battle.
If it were her, Lucy’s not so sure she’d have spared him.
(or, before aslan passes his judgement, lucy pays rabadash a visit.)
