Summary
In the wake of Wei Wuxian's expulsion from the Cloud Recesses, Lan Xichen is unhappy.
Some reflection leads him to conclude that he finds himself upset on behalf of Jiang Yanli, who is both the most injured party in the situation and the least deserving of it.
He decides to write to her, striking up a friendship from their previous acquaintenceship, giving her a friend at a time when he feels she sorely needs one.
It never occurred to him that she might one day be more than that to him.
