Summary
Phil can see the moment Reece notices. He looks down, then up, then down again.
Phil looks, too. And, yes, there it is, right on schedule, like a faithful pet or an embarrassing rash: his erection.
Reece leans in, his voice almost a whisper. “Well, we can’t have you in a state for your next show, now can we?”

Summary
They’re called Hedgehog and it’s not even close to the type of music Reece is interested in if Maisie’s description of it was anything to go by. She hadn’t had time to play him any of it or show Reece a picture of who he was meant to look for, just what they were like and that they were going to be at a place called the Crossroads at eight. They’re the only ones playing tonight, she had told him, they won’t be hard to miss.

Summary
Reece hated dogs. Never could understand the appeal of some scruffy, hairy, smelly thing that demanded all of your attention, made you clean up after them and could ruin your life with their teeth if you so much as stepped on their paw wrong. There were, he was sure, about a dozen good things about them that potentially balanced the scales enough to matter but he didn’t care. Balance wasn’t enough. He didn’t like them, didn’t want them around no matter how good the “companionship” might do him. He hated dogs and that was that as far as he was concerned.
But then he met Phil.

Summary
“I did something stupid,” is all Phil says. Apparently this discussion is going to be like picking nettles out of a mouse’s behind: tedious and frustrating.

Summary
“I need to get out of here but I think if I try I won’t make it.” Phil says it in the tone of a wilting Victorian maiden but without the handkerchief and the swooning. He’s a few more turns of a dial away from becoming completely black and white and Reece exhales slowly, walks over and crouches down in front of Phil, resting his arms on his knees.
“Well. You can’t stay here overnight now, can you? So what’s the plan?”
